No New Posts The Mirage

Hidden deep within the sands lies a startling paradise, a hint of salvation in a land of dry heat. Lush, green vegetation springs up from the sands, providing shade and comfort to those who seek it. And surrounded by the plant life is a wide, deep lake, cool waters bubbling from beneath the surface and made tepid by sweltering sun. At first thought to be a delusion, a trick of the heat, this luscious oasis is a heaven in a barren hell.

No New Posts Underground Palace

Beneath the surface of the sands lies a complex network of winding caverns. Large caverns sparkle with quartz lined walls, lighting dim to nonexistent deeper underground. Compared to the surface, the Underground Palace remains at a comfortably cool temperature regardless of time of day.

Leisure time is spent productively in the Kingdom of the Heru-Bes. Those lacking duties are commanded to build. Towering above the sands and growing slowly day by day is the fruits of their labor: a large construction of sand and stone intended to honor the Pharaoh. If left unsupervised, the dangers of the construction site can result in fatal injury.

No New Posts Valley of the Gods

While uneven dunes make up most of of the land, there is a large expanse of rather flat sands known as the Valley of the Gods. This even terrain is very open with little to no cover, making it susceptible to predator attacks. It is believed to be protected by the sacred powers of the deities, however, and thus is the location of all religious ceremonies.

No New Posts Sun-kissed Dunes

The bulk of the Hotali Desert is made of ever-changing dunes. The topography of the sands rarely remains constante, the finite grains easily tossed and shaped by the winds. Those unfamiliar with the land are subject to hours spent wandering in in the dangerous heat. Even those who know the land best often have trouble with navigation, the sands shifting so frequently that there are no identifying landmarkers.

Board Description
Hotali Desert
Like any other desert, the Hotali is painfully hot in day and can become freezing at night. Little greenery can be found, excepting scrubby grasses and cacti. Those who do not know the territory will not discover the well-hidden networks of spacious tunnels beneath the sandy dunes, with mild temperatures and ample shelter.
