Ugh. It was the only word Rhiannon could use to describe things. Her life had gone from bad to worse. The pups were fine, of course, but no Forte. Without Forte she had little energy to lead a pack, and it was really draining on her. Members were at an all time low, and she needed to do something about it. Plus, that incursion with the white keiyou... who spoke to her about her potential power... that felt strange and it was something she needed to look into. She knew she needed to find the keiyou, eventually, but right now she figured it was better to find the two members she knew were still around.
With the three pups in tow (who had grown substantially), she moved up the staircase to the top of the canyon, staring down at it with a sigh. The sight was beautiful, but now, all it meant to her was sadness. Sadness that Forte had gone, that she was all alone... he had come back once though, and perhaps he would do so again. Her hope for this was not high though, just as it was not for her own daughter returning. With another sigh, she sat herself down on the top, the pups playing about her idly. There was no where she could not go without them now, not with pack numbers so low and now sitters.
"Children, I'm going to call Sandra and Valkyrie, would you like to help me?" she asked them. They gave a resounding yes and soon all their heads were thrown back, her own deep howl mixing with the sweet, high pitched howls of the puppies. She called for her gamma, and her... well, Valkyrie, she knew, deserved more than just subordinate. He had stuck with the pack through the worst and best of times. His devotion was something to be marvelled at.
She finished her call, smiling a bit at the pups as they beamed at her, looking for encouragement. "What a wonderful howl, my loves!" she purred, lowering her head to give each a gentle lick. She was not really the maternal type, but she tried, desperately. She didn't want to lose these three like she had her last. "And now we wait, but feel free to mill about, just stay within eye distance, alright? Maybe you can practice your hunting, just like mum taught you. Remember, crouch down and stay quiet!" the pups had already loped off by then, crouching near some bushes and trying to find anything that they could pounce on. A smile flitted her lips; perhaps things might get better.

Her wings were spread out wide on the ground and her paws hung lazily in the air. She was resting, taking a break from her daily patrolling, and her amber eyes were at a close for the moment. Her chest rose and fell with each calm, steady breath she gave. The sunlight that filtered through the patchy tree branches warmed the darker parts of her pelt, soothing her muscles. She was covered slightly in dirt, from laying on the ground for quite awhile, but she didn't really care. It felt nice to sit back and relax every now and then, especially with the way things had been going lately. Whether the pack was in good or bad shape at the moment, she had no way of really telling, but she was mostly confused by....just about everything. With the pack and with Valkyrie.
She was well aware that she cared deeply for the male. Whether that put them as a mate status or not, she didn't really know. Honestly, she was confused about the whole situation and for the moment she knew that they both cared for one another on a deeper level than acquaintances or friends. Now, when it came to the Cadre, that was another story. She was the Gamma of the pack, in charge of those who were fighters of the pack. She was skilled in fights herself, her reason for going after the position, and she could hold her own against anyone, at least for a decent amount of time. But, as time had passed, she had noticed the major absence of her packmates. She had seen Valkyrie every now and then, but he did his own thing and she didn't mind. She hadn't seen her leader in awhile either or her pups for that matter. When it came to the Beta Female and the Alpha Male, she hadn't an inkling where they were.
Sandralina's ears twitched when a noise pierced her ears and she opened her eyes, turning her head to the direction it had come from. It was familiar, though mixed with something she didn't know. "Rhiannon...? Who else..." After a moment, it sort of came to the forefront of her mind as to what the higher pitched noises belonged to. She chuckled, "The pups. How could I forget?" The Barn Swallow Myou brought herself into a standing position and stretched out her muscles in order to prepare for flight. Judging by the call, she was searching for her and for Valkyrie. She wondered what was up. With a few bounds, she thrust her wings hard and pushed herself into the sky. Once high enough, she steadied herself into a level glide, knowing she didn't really have far to go. It wasn't long before she spotted the four of the wolves calling out to her and her beloved. She lowered herself, landing softly near them.
Gazing at the puppies, she grinned, "My, my! Rhiannon, they've gotten so big! Still cute as ever, though." She folded her wings and and walked to her leader. Bowing first, she then gave a friendly nudge to the small female's shoulder in greeting. She sat down close to her, more in front then on the side, and offered a gentle smile. She appeared a little worn and tired. It could have had to do with the three pups she was constantly caring for, but she wouldn't know. She turned her head and looked at the pups, who were by a bush. They had gotten quite large since she had last seen them, which was quite awhile ago. Back when they were only just beginning to walk. It was rather insane how quick small beings grew, befuddling almost. Before long, they would probably be wanting to hunt for the pack all on their own and such. She looked back at her Alphess. "What do you need me for? Has something happened?"

"Speaking" Valkyrie had been completing a routine patrol of the area, searching for intruders or any threats to the pack that seemed relatively non existent. Frowning, he kept his cold silver eyes trained on the red soil below him, his large wing span pushing him forward on the dry currents from the canyon. His long white tipped tail helped to guide the black keiyou as the air tousled the white collar that ringed his neck. His thoughts, usually clear and concise, wandered with the open air, constantly returning to Sandra, the myou. Although his heart was more at peace he still felt incomplete and frustrated by this sense of having forgotten something important.
His thoughts might have been on the alarmingly empty pack lands, devoid of canine life there were little to no signs that a pack might actually live in the territory, leaving them rather vulnerable should any outsiders seek to penetrate their defenses. Growling to himself he pondered on this matter for a bit, but his concern once again rested on Sandra, their distasteful defense might leave the myou vulnerable as no matter how fierce the female might consider herself to be, there were strength in numbers.
That is when an odd call rose from below to great his pointed ears, the combination of pitches unique and summoning. Narrowing his gaze he saw the distant shape of his alphess and leader; Rhiannon. By her side were small little fur balls, and from the little he had learned on his leader these could only assumed to be her pups. A just assumption, he reasoned with satisfaction, but what might be the cause of such a direct summon? Surely he had not done anything out of line? And Sandra had been called as well...
And as soon as this thought popped into his head he immediately sought out the shape of the myou, eyes resting on the lovely female for a couple seconds. Flapping his wings he gathered air and fell with a controlled swoop, swiftly approaching the wolves and in one fall and smooth dip came to rest at a respectable distance from the alphess. "Good day Rhiannon, Valkyrie to answer your summon. Your pups seem to be in fine strength, or so my ears tell me." The presence of the myou was causing his normally calm heart to beat faster, and though his eyes craved to seek out Sandra he could not in front of the alphess.
He moved his predatory sleek body aside to sit by Sandra as a soldier might sit while waiting to be addressed. However he could not help but give Sandra a small glance, his frosty eyes warming if but for a second as he looked to meet her gaze. Were matters the same as they had been the last time? Had they reached a stand still of impenetrability, cursed to be tempted by the dream that lay perilously out of grasp? He could only hope not, and reformulate a plan of action, a course that would result in the desired outcomes without fail, but how? Inclining his head his clean deep voice rose to say, "It is good to see you again Gamma Sandra, I hope this day finds you well." His words were perhaps not emotional ones, but the deepening of his voice suggested otherwise.

The waiting seemed like hours as she stood there, anxious for the arrival of, hopefully Sandralina and Valkyrie. Anyone else would just be a bonus. Eventually she sat down, her fluffy striped tail curling around her haunches. The three pups were engaged in what appeared to be some form of tag as they zipped around at each other. Of the three, the black and yellow pup seemed to be the most proficient, but of course her daughter, Miseria was special too. The little mole myou was a wise little thing and despite her bad eyesight, she would eventually make a wonderful advisor. Soon though something overhead caught her eye and the form of the barn swallow myou was soon visible. The smile that had been playing on her lips grew and she rose from her seat to greet the female.
Her first comment, of course, was about the pups. Rhiannon merely smiled, looking over to them. "Them and their appetites," she said with a grin, nodding at the bow and nudging her back. The pups seemed to stop their game, rushing to their mum's side and looking up at Sandralina. They knew better than to speak unless spoken to, but they looked up at her eagerly, tails wagging almost in unison. "Let's wait and see if Valkyrie is coming," her words were met with the shape of another wolf, moving towards her from the sky and swooping down. He too spoke, and she nodded her head in greetings. "You too Valkyrie, and they do. Soon they'll probably outgrow me," she replied with a slight laugh; knowing Forte, they would probably all be quite a bit bigger than herself.
She watched Valkyrie speak with Sandralina and waited for their greetings to be finished before she spoke. "I called you both here to talk about the future of the Cadre. Firstly and foremost, I want to promote you, Valkyrie, to gamma as well. Your strength and valour have shown you are capable of holding such a position. I hope this comes as no surprise, and that you both are alright with it. It will mean you'll be spending more time together, of course," she added, trying to assess the two. With such few numbers she hoped all her members got along quite well, and she was sure Valkyrie and Sandra had no hard feelings for each other, but she couldn't be entirely sure. Rhiannon wasn't exactly the most perceptive of she-wolves.
"As you may or may not know, the previous high chief of the Children is also within our lands, Draugur. I have no problem with his presence, so do not worry yourselves over him. We are allied to his old pack, led under Reynard, and also to the Enclave which is led by Ahote. I trust you both know this already?" She paused, looking out. Was it coincidence that all the members left in her pack were keiyou or had wings? She could technically muster an aerial force... she pushed the idea to the back of her mind. Now was not the time for military strategies.
"The pack is growing weaker, and I find my own confidence dwindling with it. I doubt Fortissimo will come back, and I surely cannot run this pack without him. I am hoping with you two by my side we can raise the pack back to where it should be, rivalling only those of our allies. As we all know, the north is a brew with rumours of the Empire, of which none I am sure. I want to make sure that no matter what happens this pack is strong and can withstand any adversities, not just for my own children, but for other generations to come. Do either of you know of any other members which are still here within the canyon? I have heard little of Gypsy as well though her scent still lingers," she finally concluded, the pups having lost interest in the drawl of her voice and sought play places elsewhere.

She smiled down at them. "Greetings, little ones. Growing strong and listening to your mother, I hope?" Her voice held a light tease to it, though she spoke to them in a gentle manner. She absolutely adored puppies, for they were the epitome of pure innocence. Besides, she couldn't help but find them adorable in every single way. Whenever she saw a puppy, she had the urge to just curl around them and squeeze them tightly. She wondered what a puppy's fluffy fur felt like when they were young, considering she had never really been near them before. She did not have any of her own, nor did she ever stop to think there was a chance of that, and she did not want to invade on a mother's space by trying to be near her pups. She respected that at least.
Sandralina's ears twitched at the sound of his name. "Valkyrie...?" Her volume was a little on the quiet side, showing her curious nature at the sentence. She wondered what the Keiyou male had to do with all of this, and she wondering if something terrible had happened that would involve the two of them. Her ears flattened in slight worry as she sat down in front of her leader, tail feathers fanning out on the ground behind her. She flayed her wings slightly, allowing them to provide most of her body some shade. At this point, with her sudden anxiety, she felt very hot and sweaty. She waited patiently for the male to arrive and it hadn't been long before he did. Her eyes were transfixed upon him, studying his stature as he moved about to greet his Alphess. She greeted him in return and he sauntered to sit beside her, casting her a glance. She returned it shyly, feeling her heart speed up uncontrollably. For a moment, she was at a loss as to what to say to him in return. "N-Nice to see you as well..."
She listened to her leader's words closely. In all honesty, she was not surprised when she promoted Valkyrie. He had been around awhile and he certainly deserved the position. She had no argument nor any problem with it. Besides, as the smaller myou stated herself, they would be spending more time together. Granted, she would not admit that outright, she did want such a thing. Of course, all she could do was nod to the Red Panda Myou, at a loss for words through the entire thing. This was a surprise to her, and to Estoni, who flapped around in the back of her head trying to get her to perk up a little more. However, she was numb and couldn't do much about it. In those several minutes sitting beside that male, she wasn't sure what to make of it or what to do about it. The last time the two of them had met beside one another, strange feelings were passed around. They came to sort of reconcile their differences, but she didn't know what that made them.
Draugur? She didn't recognize the name, but she had caught small amounts of a strange scent in their lands. At first, she found it concerning, and she still fretted even when her leader said not to. Any stranger in the lands she would find herself uncomfortable with, especially when there were pups in the area. She felt her hackles rise slightly just at the thought of a strange wolf in the lands, knowing that there was a danger hanging over the pups' lives. She sighed a little, telling herself to remain calm, though she inwardly worried over this male. When Ahote and the alliances were mentioned, she tilted her head slightly. "The name Ahote is familiar to me... He was a part of the Cadre, wasn't he? He was the Gamma Male, if I remember correctly... Or was that another one? I do know he was a part of this pack, though." She remembered meeting the massive green Yagi at the fights for higher ranks, where she was supposed to have faced Lyra and Lyta, but they never showed.
Sandralina felt herself stand up at the final words, a small squawk coming from her throat. "Rhiannon, I won't ever leave this pack until the day you forcefully chase me out! You accepted me into this home despite my constantly happy-go-lucky self. You had the guts to put up with me, and I thank you for it by remaining by your side and helping you bring this pack back to its former glory." For a moment, she felt her skin heat up, slightly embarrassed by her own little speech there. However, she recovered and frowned at the last question the female posed to them. "Artellia, the monitor crocodile myou... I bid her farewell myself. She has greater aspirations with another male. As for anyone else... I have seen none in these last weeks. I'm sorry, but...it seems as though many have gone off on their own or simply vanished. I do pray that nothing bad has befallen them."

Pride flickered in his mind as Rhiannon announced the words that any true soldier loved to hear, promotion and increased responsibility. This meant more chances to prove valor and serve as what the Keiyou considered himself to have been born to do in life. Inclining his head Valkyrie said, "I accept the responsibility and requirements of the position, you may have confidence in my abilities to fulfill the role to the best of my capacities." This meant he would have more time with Sandra, and this brought hope that perhaps more of the matter could be properly sorted, he was beginning to be ailed by the common symptoms of love that most males displayed. To begin with there was a constant craving for her company, and the consistent fear that something awful would befall the female if he was not present and worse, the desire to continue on his lineage.
The last scared the male more then anything, and as he looked at the small balls of fluff at his alphess's side the evident vulnerability of the pups struck him full force. Who would be there to protect the family if Rhiannon did not anticipate the return of her mate? The pack was nearing desolate, defenses could cave under the smallest of attacks and this left the lives of the little creatures in considerable danger. Valkyrie decided that the first matter on his list as gamma would be to devise a plan to keep them safe in the event of an attack or invasion.
Solemnly he stated, "I too vow to help you keep this pack alive and strong, but it pains me to report I have not seen tail of any wolf aside this white winged wolf you make reference to. From the sky I can report that there is little to no activity on the soil, but if you have enemies they have yet to notice this for there have not been opposing pack scouts either." He did not like this matter of allowing wolves that were not from the pack to wander at will among their lands, it was risky business. But he kept his tongue quiet out of respect for his superior's decision. He knew very little about the Enclave, having but a small recollection of Ahote. In fact it had been him that accepted the keiyou into the pack if his memory did serve him.
His cold grey eyes were already calculating, trying to find a way to strengthen their defense while matters were sorted. Interacting with wolves was not necessarily his forte, but protection certainly was. Inquiring he asked, "What would you have us do? My loyalties lie here," Especially with Sandra pledging her own loyalties, "and will remain here." He awaited further direction patiently, digging his claws into the dry soil as his lion shaped tail swished back and forth.

His white wings were stretching away from his body and the feathers trembled slightly with the gentle breeze and the strain of his weakening muscles. Now this wasn't right. The wing muscles overworking worried him and decided gliding around wasn't going to help them. So therefore he thought it would be best for his body if he landed and allowed himself to relax a bit. He shifted his body downwards and his wings raised a little to prevent him from making a clumsy landing. He might be old but he was still graceful. His hind legs touched the soft grass before his front ones and his wings folded easily against his body. He looked around and shrugged to himself. He was back to the same place where he first met Rhiannon and her some silly spirit and wondered if he would run into her again. It seemed unlikely with a such vast canyon, but then, nothing was impossible. A sound drifted to his ears and he snorted; nothing was certainly impossible. He turned his head to the sound. The feminine undertone of the howl was obvious but there were some... odd voices blending in. Rhiannon and somebodies. Oh! Of course, the high-pitched sounds must be from her puppies as the memory of her milky scent came to his mind.
Draugur had been wandering, or gliding, around the canyon for a few days after meeting the leader of the Cadre. He was intrigued with this wondrous place. The towering red rocks, twisted into many peculiar form. It was very unlike to what he had seen before. Its leader, the odd animal myou (it was obvious that he did not know about red panda) also had been brought to his attention with her necromancy. He still could not think how she didn't know it. That form that your eye could not grasp properly and those incessant whispers that your ear had to endure. It was obvious that it was a spirit. He smirked at the thought of her bewilderment.
Two new voices rose from the source of the howl and, curious, Draugur moved towards it to get a clearer hearing. Soon he could see the soft and refined figures of the two females, a more bulkier form of a male with a few dots of the leader's children. He sat down again when he decided that he could hear the conversation almost clearly. He did not intend to hide himself yet he somehow had escaped their notice. His pale salmon nose rose to air and realised that it was downwind to him therefore they couldn't scent him. He just sat there, being nosy, hearing whatever words were being exchanged. The redder myou spoke about her mate leaving and revealed her doubts of him coming back. Ouch. He sniffed, it must be hard on her and on her pack to have their alpha male abandoned them.
"But you did just the same, little boy." He groaned. After days of silence that hag had decided to return to pester him. Perhaps it wasn't a coincidence; he was close to Rhiannon so his spirits were also close to hers. Draugur decided not to respond and went on listening. Some kind of stuff about being promoted and puppies. He soon grew tired with a polite exchange of words and the lovely promotion. Until he heard his name. "Now, now if you just walk over there they would think you nosy." He shrugged it off and went on listening to what they have more to say about him. The white keiyou chuckled at that comment made by Rhiannon saying that she had no problem with him. Even after their meeting? It was somewhat nice to hear it.
He immediately got bored with further chats about wolves leaving the pack and one of then became a leader. It wasn't of his interest so he stood up and sauntered over towards the three wolves. His pink eyes gleamed with amusement and a smirk was on his maw. "Hey there, Rhia and you two." He nodded to the strangers. Valkyrie was one of them, the darker one but he dismissed him quickly. For the another myou, however, he was interested in. He looked at her and could tell that her second soul was a swallow with her colourings and a divided tail. He flashed a charming smile in her direction. But he was also sensibly wary. This pack was a fighter pack, he knew but he had wings. "But those two do as well." "Awh, you shut it." The arrogant smirk blossomed once again on his face, replacing the charming smile. Then he assumed that he should explain the reason behind his appearance, no matter how used Rhiannon was with his presence. "I heard my name." He bowed his head at the leader with a reluctant respect; he still had not adjusted to the fact that he wasn't a High Chief anymore and had to treat any leader like any subordinate should.

The pups giggled at Sandralina's words, the little bumblebee making a buzzing type noise, the fluffy strange one, with his tongue hanging from his maw. Rhiannon smiled a little bit, letting the two other wolves speak amongst themselves first. Sandra and Valkyrie may as well have been alphas too, helping her run the pack, considering they were pretty much all that was left.
Valkyrie accepted the position and Rhiannon smiled and nodded. "Well then, Gamma Valkyrie, I am pleased you have accepted it," She listened then to Sandra and nodded. "Ahote was our gamma before; he left to help his mate's pack. I have full trust in him. He runs the Enclave fairly and justly. If we ever need help, we can look to him for it," she replied, and both their replies made her smile. Such dedication and loyalty, and Rhiannon wished to reward them both for it more. "You too are far more than I could have wished for," she said with a simple nod, when another figure appeared. Draugur. As if on cue he sauntered towards them, addressed them. "Yes, we were talking about you, Draugur," she answered the male, turning back to her gammas.
"This is Draugur, as you can see. He'll be staying with us for as long as he needs," Rhiannon watched as the pups once more began to prance off into the distance. The sun though was beginning to splotch out, as dark clouds pulled their way across the skies. It didn't look too bad, but she assumed it would rain soon. "For now, we just need to keep maintaining the territory; looking for newcomers, keeping out intruders... we need someway of showing the packs to the north that we are still strong and a force to contend with. I don't want anyone getting any ideas of conquering us."
With these words the first crash of thunder hit, accompanied by lightning. No rain fell, but Rhiannon looked upwards. "It looks like a storm is coming. Perhaps we should head to the caves?"
[[ one more post from everyone, then flash flood will hit. don't have them go to the caves, they'll get washed out completely. This pack had gone from a very strong military to a very small force consisting of two flying Myou and an Alphess with children. On top of that, there was a stranger Keiyou flaunting around the territory. That was something she did not like, especially with three young pups around all the time. She was not fond of strangers in general, at least not of late, but there was something off about the name. Draugur...somehow it seemed familiar, but perhaps it was just something about the way the name sounded.
She listened to Valkyrie accept the position of Gamma by her side and Rhiannon welcome him into the position. It was long needed, all things considered. Next, the strange male that she was having misgivings about appeared, greeting them. When he flashed her that charming smile, the only thing she could feel herself do was glare harshly and shuffle closer to Valkyrie. Her wing brushed against his, allowing her to feel safer as it was. Not that she couldn't rip that tiny Keiyou apart on her own, long talons and a history of fighting experience, but somehow she felt it made her seem taken.
"Greetings." She managed to say that at least, when her attention was pulled upwards. The sky was beginning to darken, the sun disappearing behind a massive set of dark clouds. Her fur prickled uncomfortably and she felt uneasy with the settings. Something was off about the storm. It almost felt too strong. However, she said nothing and trained herself in on her leader's words. She nodded. "Of course, Rhiannon. I'd fight of an entire pack to keep this place on its feet. I love it too much." This was true on her part.
Sandralina stood up and stretched her legs slightly, flaying her wings just a bit. She made way over to where the pups were, remaining a few feet away. "Come on, now, little ones! Who wants a free ride to the dens?" She lowered her wings to the ground, offering them as stairs for the pups. Her amber eyes kept glancing at the skies worriedly. Her ears flattened, showing her concern for the thundering clouds. She felt a drop hit her nose, then one by one more fell from the sky. No more than a very light drizzle. She calmed somewhat, perhaps this wouldn't be bad.

Back and forth, back and forth. A tedious journey from one land to the next, only to end up in the Cadre once more. Vereine began to grow bored and yearned for any sort of excitement or entertainment. He had grown use to trekking across vast lands, it was no trouble for him, but his destinations would just disappoint him, serving to be just as boring as the one before it. He didn’t have much against the Cadre’s lands, although it was a bit warmer than he preferred, those that resided in it had some how disappeared. What use was there in living in a land with no pack mates or members to provide company. What about me, you ignorant prat? What about you? Don’t act like you’re any fun, because you’re not. The raven soul sneered at that, puffing up his chest and feathers, clearly annoyed. Vereine chuckled at that, a bit more pleased now knowing he caused Dupre some small irritation. Jet black wings fanned out as the myou stopped for a quick stretch, letting a satisfied hum find it’s way into the air. He had just come from the Plains and was in a need for rest, maybe even a quick nap. He could still feel the dirt as it began to climb his limbs, the tell tale sign that he had been traveling for some time now, though it remained barely visible against his soot black pelt. Vereine sighed as his boredom continued to grow, slowly reaching a dangerous point that would cause him to do something outrageous and ridiculous, anything to provide even the slightest bit of entertainment. He couldn’t remember the last time he had been this bored. There was always someone for him to pester, or toy with. That strange looking myou he had been encountering recently, the one that seemed to hate his guts ever so dearly, she had been the one to provide some sort of company. Though there was clear tension, it was still better company than the one he had now. A howl resonated through the air, followed by others not quite as powerful. The Alphess? It was a howl he hadn’t heard for some time, as he didn’t linger in the canyons as much as he should have. The other howls though, higher in pitch and foreign to his ears, he couldn’t place a name on them. The calling was most likely directed to others, he had no true purpose in the Cadre, there was no use of him to be called upon. But curiosity began to get the better of him and followed the direction of the howl. Vereine was in no rush though, but couldn’t help but pick up his pace a bit, eager to see what was going on as it would most likely cure his boredom and finally provide him some interesting entertainment. Sometime later, he finally grew close, as the scents of others became stronger and more prominent. It may have taken less time if he chose to fly, but he wasn’t fond of using his wings or flying for that matter. When multiple blurry figures came in to view, he pulled his wings in tight against his body and took in a deep breathe, putting on a facade and ready to act the part. Vereine didn’t recognize any of the others, besides his Alphess, but even then, he had only managed to snag a few quick glances from some time back. He noticed as the thunder began to roll in and it added to his eagerness. Patience, Knoxie dear... Oh piss off, you know you want in as well. He could sense the raven soul roll his eyes and shuffle back to his own corner in the wolf’s mind, sulking and grumbling nonsense. He took a step forward, edging his way into the group. ”Oh, pardon me, I haven’t walked in on something important have I?” He spoke, sounding quite honest and sincere, his expression showing concern. The myou gave a small bow, before standing straight again, glancing over at everyone. His brow arched when he noticed the pups, realizing they must have been the high pitched howl that followed after his Alphess, Rhiannon, if he remembered correctly. The others though, it was for a fact he hadn’t meet any of them before. Oh fun, new friends. Dupre sneered, though it was obvious he too was enjoying finally meeting others from the Cadre. Vereine turned his attention to the sky briefly as he felt a soft drizzle fall down against them, silently welcoming a break from the constant heat. He heard someone mention about heading to the dens, and let his focus fall back to the wolves before him. Honestly, he wasn’t sure what to expect from his little encounter but fond some enjoyment in it nonetheless. word count ;; 849 ! tags ;; rhiannon ! sandralina ! valkyrie ! draugur ! ooc notes ;; /was told this is the place to post. musical inspiration ;; siberia - lights ! |

ooc: Many sincere apologies for this terribly late reply, I hope it is not too late for it. Something nagged at the edge of his mind, a vague scent he had barely picked up at the border of the cadre land some weeks ago that had spoke to him of a pack member but he had never crossed the scent since that time and had ultimately resorted to forgetting about the matter entirely. The scent had been female and old, perhaps it was simply this Gypsy that his Alphess had mentioned. Little did he know it was a female keiyou to the name of Shallot that now lay imprisoned in the depths of the mafia jungle…The arrival of Draugur rid his mind of these thoughts as he focused his eyes on the albino wolf, memorizing his scent and resisting curling his maw at the outsider. Valkyrie was not fond of outsiders, to him they were risks that could easily back-stab the pack dispensing them care and vilely betray their secrets to the first interested party. The cold steel in his eyes did not betray his thoughts, he knew that the Alphess accepted this character without trouble and would not defy her decision.
Small drops landed on his fur, silver diamonds against the glossy sleek black that draped his lean body, and he flared his nostrils, eyes raised as if he could see the thunder that echoed in the distance. He had not ever been in a storm in this land, but he had heard stories of the terrain and Sandra’s barely perceptible agitation gave him cause for concern. The Alphess was deeming it wise to return to the dens, surely there was cause despite the slow rate at which the rain now fell? However he had no interest in serving as a pony to the pups, barely resisting the urge to huff in exasperation as he watched Sandra deploy her wings and offer them as stairs. Casting a glance at the small bundles of fur he grit his teeth and was about to grudgingly follow Sandra’s example when a black winged wolf arrived, providing him the temporary escaped he had been secretly hoping for.
This wolf was a pack mate, no doubting the vague trace on his fur but Valkyrie had yet to lay eyes on him, how was it that members remained so camouflaged in the hot terrain and away from his piercing gaze? No matter, he now took the time to assess the fellow, his gaze as sharp as a blade while he watched the male address the Alphess. It seemed the winged wolves dominated the territory, a strong aerial force and the fact that there was another male around was but a small comfort, the pack would need strong warriors to protect them from prying outside forces. He spoke, his strong voice disciplined and terribly smooth, “You come too late to be of great interruption. I fear we have not had the opportunity to meet yet, I am Valkyrie and a humbled Gamma.” He fell silent, waiting a response to his introductions as the white tip of his tail swayed to and fro, the mounting breeze ruffling the ring of white fur that rested around his neck.
The rain drops seemed to be falling slightly faster now, a casual rainfall and still nothing of great concern if not a well deserved reprieve from the heat the canyon had been subjected to over the past weeks. The thunder had become if but a bit louder and flashes echoed through the skies in the distance and Valkyrie knew that if they approached much closer flying would not be advisable. The time to carry the pups to their den was now and he threw Draugur a cursory glance, marking the wolf as a subject to keep under strict observation before beckoning to one of the pups. “Come little wolf and stay steady, flying is great freedom, but with it comes danger.” He gave the nearest pup a reassuring nod, his gaze softening as he presented his wing so that the pup could board and nestle into the fur on his back.

Rhiannon watched the reactions of her gammas towards Draugur's approach. She knew he was like her, they could both communicate with the dead. Besides that she knew very little else, but he was a good ally for the meantime, even if it was just temporary. She yearned to have him teach her more about her power, something she was only beginning to understand herself. Her own pups stared up with wide eyes at the keiyou. The bumblepup flexed his own wings beating them a little bit, the other two giggling at their brother's attempt.
The storm was unsettling as well; usually in the winter they got only some rain and accumulation, and it was heavier in the spring. The pressure made her body ache slightly, the pains from birthing two litters and growing older quite evident in her body. Sandra spoke first and her words brought a smile to Rhia's lips. "I'm glad you feel like that, Sandra," she replied, seeing a black shape from the corner of her eye. What was the male's name again? She believed they had met briefly, but had trouble keeping track of everyone in the pack, even with its small size. Another myou though, she knew, and she watched as he approached them, finally speaking.
"We were just about to seek safety in the dens from the storm. You're more than welcome to join us." The pups clambered over to Sandra, all trying to vye for a chance to be flown down to the den caves. Valkyrie spoke to the male, asking for his name, which Rhiannon was glad of. She couldn't remember it and she would look like a fool if she were to ask for it. The female myou left her brothers to Sandra and climbed aboard Valkyrie, nestling in amongst his warm dark fur. The bumblebee found itself alone at Sandra, as the llama pup waddled towards Rhiannon, and she grasped him in her jaws.
The rain was falling harder now, and Rhiannon frowned a bit as she became thoroughly soaked. "We should head to the dens now, as quick as possible! Be careful if you take the stairs, they'll be slippery," just as she finished speaking a crash of thunder sounded above her, lightning illuminating the sky. Swarlos, the llama pup, gave a squeal, hanging limply from his mother's mouth. The other two burried themselves deeper in the fur of the gammas'. The rain was even heavier now, and even though the other wolves were so close to her it was becoming hard to make out their shapes. Her voice was barely audible as she shouted over the storm. "Shelter!" she growled, turning to look towards where the stairs would be. She could barely make them out, but moved steadily towards them. Once she was near the edge, panic hit her like a sledgehammer.
The canyon was almost completely full of water, broiling and bubbling with debris. Her eyes were wide, and she reacted in an instant. "FLOOD!" she yelled, her mouth full of fur as she quickly moved from the edge and began in a different direction. The rain made her smell diminish but she knew they needed to head north. If anything it would lead her to Ahote and he would give them safe passage. "Keep safe and fly to the taiga!" she growled, knowing she was the only one on land now. The waters were gurgling over the edges of the canyon, spilling out. She could feel her paws soaked under at least six inches of water now, but she ran for her life, knowing that those behind her would fare better flying than her running.
[[Feel free to PP both pups. If Vereine doesn't want to fly he can run with Rhia. If I can catch Sun I'll have her bring Ardent in and whisk them to safety.]]

"Speaking"
Jackle wanted his home. They Canyon. He was sorry that he had been away from it so long and hadn't gotten to know it very well. But it was the only place he had. And the only family that he had was the Cadre pack. Yet he also never quite took the time to get to know many of the members. He had met few like that black winged wolf... the one missing an eye. Had it been so long since he had seen even him that he has forgotten his name? Jackle sighed heavily and shook his head. How could he have neglected his pack like so to run off an look for... Phoenix. He cringed at her name. He looked everywhere for her but he could not find her. One day she was by his side and they were in complete and utter love then the next, it was as if she had never existed. Wolves don't normally vanish like that, do they?
It was then he heard a howl in which he stopped and sat down listening. Now the howl seemed sort of familiar sounding to him yet he could not place it. Then after a long ponder, it clicked. Rhiannon. He had seen her only briefly and heard her speak briefly. It was a wonder how he had been able to remember her name with such a short encounter and forgotten the name of the one winged male that he had spent a little more time with, possibly more then he would have liked, especially surrounded by those pools of water. Jackle didn't like thinking about it. Water water water. Why he was so afraid of the needed liquid was beyond him. It wasn't the fear of drowning... or maybe it was. His thick fur would pull him down, like sucking him down to its dark depths. But then why didn't thinking about it scare him? It was just the water. Being in it. He hadn't met anyone else who had a dislike for water. Was he the only one?
Jackle blinked as something cold and wet hit his nose. What was that? Just rain stupid. I am not stupid, I was lost in my mind for a moment is all. Yeah your lost alright. Jackle shook his head. Madness, he hated it. So darn right annoying, even after all these years with it. He looked up at the darkening sky as it began to pour harder. What are the heavens so angry about today? He wondered as he got up and began to slowly walk towards the group that was quite a bit ways away. The heavy rain was beginning to make his fur weigh like a ton though he looked like he was walking with ease. His paws slipped some as he walked as the rain quickly dampened the now muddyish ground. After a while Jackle saw a few figures in the distance. Through the rain, it was slightly difficult to see, at least for him, with the darkened sky and the fast coming rain. The rain was fairly cold but his fur gave him slight insulation.
As Jackle neared, he saw everyone running. What the hell is going on? He thought as he saw the pack members in a rush. Jackle began to run and then slipped, sliding until he nearly went of the edge. He cried out and just managed to get his paws in deep enough into the muddy ground to keep his back legs on land while his front half practically dangles over the edge. Here, he saw such a horrifying site that he thought he would have never seen in a life time. The whole canyon was flooding with water that was rushing so fast that he couldn't believe his eyes. His home, the home he never truly got to know, was gone. Gone and he couldn't do anything about it or go back in time to spend more time with the pack members here and the home of his pack. What was worse? Not making enough memories with a place or to have many memories with the place and see it be washed away? Jackle closed his eyes and got himself back onto land with all fours on in the mud. Jackle took another moment to stare down at the dirty water that swept away the home.
Then he bounded off towards the others, though he was now quite a good distance behind them. How could have this happened? It was winter and winter could not bring such rain like this. But if that were true, than this whole situation would not be happening. How could this be happening anyways? It was damaging to poor Jackle, and he knew that it had to have been very very sad for everyone else in the pack. Where are they to go? Jackle didn't know what plan Rhia might or might not have had in her head at the time. Jackle just knew he had to run. Run to where ever everyone else was going because they seem to know where they were going, not that Jackle could see their faces, just in the direction that they were going. And Jackle definetly did not know what direction he was going, he just knew that his home was now lost to water. Damn water. All the more reason for him to hate it. Fear it. Actually, more like he know has a reasonable reason to fear and now hate water with possibly all his mighty might. If he has any that is. Well, he asked for more time with his pack. To get to know more of them and their home. Now that there is no more home, it will give him a reason to know more about the pack members. If they don't disband over this tragic even that is, that was just a growing fear for Jackle at the moment.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | | ooc; i'm horrible, bash me over head with a mace if you wish.
Draugur smiled proudly, but almost arrogantly, as he looked around at the two wolves while Rhia introduced him. His gaze fell a bit as he saw no flicker of recognition in any of the wolves' eyes and he felt shame and hatred bubbling up inside him. Why didn't they know him? All it took was a twitch of his ears for him to dismiss the thought; it wasn't the time to brood over his lost pack when a pack he could impress was in front of him right now. He noticed that the black keiyou hadn't shown him any sign of greeting whatsoever. He snorted faintly; it was rather fair as he had dismissed Valkyrie as well. He shifted his attention from the two wolves back to the red wolf. She said something about showing the pack off to others. It would be a good idea he admitted and he would love to get involved somehow to show the Children that he wasn't beaten yet. For once he decided to let the couple to speak up first.
He rolled his eyes, bored as he listened to the female's promise. A such dedication, boring. His attention, or rather the lack thereof, was diverted by an approaching black wolf. A myou or not, he wasn't sure. What he did know was there were a damn lot of winged wolves here, so if he needed to escape or something it would be hard to shake the off, especially with his old wings. Draugur saw a concern in the stranger's face and voice and the keiyou snorted. There were quite many good wolves here and how boring they were. But then Rhia had taken him in when he was homeless and he was interested in her necromancy. That was why he hadn't flew off just yet.
The sky was beginning to pour more heavily and the puppies were running around and over Valkyrie and the swallow female and this was distracting him from being bored. Not in a good way as he found baby wolves and wet weather infuriating. Well at least he wasn't being run over by those puppies. He wrinkled his nose when he saw a pup on the black keiyou's back. The rain got worse and he lifted his wings to cover his body from getting drenched, and he felt water dripping from his feathers in an unpleasant way. How he hated being wet. Draugur heard Rhia saying they are going to find some kind of a shelter. Even though he was uncertain if he should go on with them, he moved after the leader. She was, pathetically, searching for stairs through the thick watery veil and he began to consider leaving the scene for a better place. But a scream came.
Draugur's eyes darted around and saw the gushing of water below the Troid Aill Top. Flood. He could barely hear above the crashing of water and the storm but he caught some words, including the taiga. He could see many wolves with wings but there were some that were wingless. And there were puppies. They all were in danger. But all the albino keiyou cared was of himself. He leapt into the heavy sky and beat his wings against the violent storm, with his eyelids squinted to protect his pink eyes from the darting raindrops. As far as he could see he was the first one to leap for the skies. He knew he had to get somewhere safe, somewhere that didn't have wolves in danger. He did not turn back, even to look. With another beat of his great wings he left the group.

The canyon smelled soggy and humid. Her silky pelt was frizzed and tussled. She curled a lip at her reflection in a puddle. No wonder she had been gone so long. Her envoy had taken her longer than expected, she hoped that Rhia was not angry at her. After all the alpha was the only female that she really cared about. She was the beta, she should have been back sooner, but que cera cera. She was here now, still in a decent mood from the night before. She would have been in a better mood had she never figured out that the male she was talking to was indeed a hybrid. Oh well.
She needed to report to Rhia. She coudl smell the small female not too far off, however it seemed that she was on the OTHER side of the canyon, no matter, there were narrow parts that she could cross over. Not one near her though, so she decided to try to see the alpha from across the canyon. It didn't take long, but she saw Rhia and a group of keiyou....or maybe one was a myou, it was hard to tell, nor did she care. She could see the forms of the pups milling around them too. Were they really that old now? She really had been gone for a while. Traversing the landscape forming alliances took time....especially when coming full circle around. Being at a higher elevation, she was sure that they didn't see her. She was about to call down to them when something stopped her.
Something ominous seemed to be lingering over the canyon. It didn't take long for her to hear a great crack as the canyon seemed to open up the debris dam. Water went rushing through the canyon, her blue eyes searched for anything. The water was sweeping over the rocks as the swollen river seemed to rise as rapidly as a jackalope could run. One of the keiyou took flight instantly. She could vaguely hear Rhia calling out. She needed to do something...but what? She was flightless. Self preservation for once in her life was put to the back of her mind.
She began to run parallel with Rhia, trying to keep her in her sights as she figured out a response. Maybe help her cross the canyon? The nearest narrow point was still a ways away and it would be under water before they got there. There was another pack member on her heels, another grounded pack wolf. They all needed help. She needed wings.
Just as she was losing hope, she saw a great shadow over her. A dragon?? She paused, skidding to a halt and looking up. Was it a stranger dragon.....or was it....? It was! It was Ardent, the dragon that had taken a liking to Rhia. Gypsy was still on a relatively high ground, but water was starting to seep through the cracks in the ground. She yelled up to the dragon with all her might......"ARDENT!!!!!! Help!" She reared up on her hind legs and pirouetted to show the bright blue top side of her wings. She flapped them in an attempt to signal where she was.
