An overcast had settled atop the world, weighing down the sky, teasing with the threat of rain. Below the heavens, in the midst of the valley of sand trekked a lone wolf whose paws were hidden by the seemingly white blanket that covered the land. Ears twitched lightly as a breeze blew against them and clear eyelids squinted together to shield their orbs from the bitter wind. For many suns the brute had traveled, seeking some sort of a shelter. It had been days since the wolf tasted sleep, days since he felt the victory of a bloody meal. Pack lands were all over this land, and he didn't feel safe. Hades had yet to encounter any of them, as was his intentions for some packs could be undelightfully hostile. If he slept, who knows what wolf would stumble upon him, if he hunted, who knows whose land he could be hunting on. A sigh pushed past dry flews, creating a small cloud of sorts in the frigged air. Paws pushed through thick snow, forming a trail behind him as he went. The banner hanging behind the wolf swayed with each step that was taken. Memories flooded the blank mind, instilling emotions long suppressed. The previous 'love' of his life was now the center of his thoughts. Perhaps he didn't love her, only the things he could do to her. Hades' life took a turn for the worst the day that she-wolf was killed. If her own father would do that, what would a stranger do to him? Another sigh was emitted. What was trust anyway? It didn't exist, at least not for Hades.
The scenery seemed to repeat itself in an endless desert, no living creature seemed to be about. Typical. Summer wasn't usually the 'get up and play in the desert' season. For the wolf it was a sad season. Somehow it made him realize that he could not go home, that he had nothing left in this world. Perhaps because it was in summer when his life had changed. As paws pushed forward, powered by forceful legs, his trek seemed to be everlasting. The only ambition he had was fighting, and he couldn't base a life off of that as much as he wanted to believe he could. Hades was a lone soldier, instilling his ways wherever he happened to be and laying deceit in his path. The wind howled a melody of emptiness. A tail hung limply between motioned legs, having no reason to portray joy. Suddenly a pink muscle slipped past shut black lips and reached up to the leathery nose and slapped against it, spreading the saliva it held onto the end of the drying snout and retreated back again, laying safely in the cave it resided within. Uncertain eyes flickered about the ground before them, trying to find a flaw in the near perfect blanket of sand. Quickly though the brute grew tiresome of that and refocused his eyes in front of him yet again.
As the wolf advanced he thought of his life as a loner as eyes peered over the barren land. Hunting was difficult, on your own larger game was impossible to catch unless they were already dead or near death. And there hasn't been a night where he had a full sleep for his paranoia of what could happen kept him awake. Plus, being in a pack would give him a better chance to become stronger and better at his passion, fighting. The muscled brute took a stop then as a scent bombarded his nostrils, one he didn't recognize, but knew the meaning of. This was the mark of a pack. Again a sigh was formed and his paws came to a stop, resting in all too familiar sand. The pads of his paws were littered with scars from fights long ago, something he wished never to have to endure. "Pack life..." his voice held a strict, powering tone as he mulled over the idea. Perhaps it would be too dangerous to risk living in a pack, or maybe it would prove to be an advantage for him. Running thoughts through his head would do him no good, he knew that, action would be the only way to figure this out. Broad shoulders rolled back as his eyes scanned the gray abyss above in the sky. The decision was difficult, a life lived in solitude wasn't a good life, though a pack life could be dangerous. Besides, Hades knew he was the best at what he did, but what if the Alpha didn't and set him to a rank he was over-qualified for. Slowly black pupils ventured up behind the upper eyelid and completed a full circle within their limits before returning to the center.
With his wide chest pushed forward the wolf stepped to the side and began to walk away from the pack scent markers. He ran along and away from the thought of a pack. Stopping at the leafy area. He fell and let out a sigh. This was home. All he would ever need.

Eira awoke in someplace other than a den. She was away from the tree, away from the territory. *H-how did this happen? I could get in huge trouble for this! What am I doing here? How did I get here?* Her mind raced as questions danced around in her head. More and more forming. She got up and looked into the sky, it looks like it was about to rain soon. She licked her dry nose and realized how thirsty she was. There was no water around where she was. *Where am I?* More thoughts came into her mind, as she started to walk. It took Eira a while to finally wake up, but she did. "I've never been around here before, where in blazes am I?" A drop landed on her muzzle, and she looked up at the sky, waiting for more rain. The scent of wolf was around. A loner. She ignored the smell and trotted along, smelling for a new scent. "What does water smell like again?" Eira said to herself. "Great, now I'm forgetting smells. I have a great nose! How could I forget?!" She looked into the sky once more, as for an answer.
She started jogging. Then running. Faster, faster, faster. The breeze on her fur felt better than it ever had before. She started to smile and ran faster, faster, faster. She was running as fast as she could, until she tripped and fell on a rock. She landed on her stomach, and her front, left paw. "OW! How did I not see that?" Eira tried to get up, but fell. "Oh no, oh no no no no no! My paw! I, I can't get up! I have to! I have to go back to my territory, no matter how far I am!" Once more, she struggled to get up, and finally did. She lifted her paw up, and started to walk. It was hard to walk on three legs, even harder to just stand, but she had to do it. To survive. She walked a for a little while longer, and smelled a wolf not to far ahead. "Well, great, I might get attacked by this wolf if I collapse! Why was I acting so pup-like?" Eira fell to the ground. She passed out. She collapsed. *Will I ever wake up?* She gave a long, loud, sorrowful howl.
Everything went black.

Hades turned his gaze to the fallen she-wolf. She was not meant for this weather. He knew that from her size and coloring. Her howl was what gave her spot away. The sandy brown wolf with white paws stood slowly to look at her. He was bigger than her, but she was meant to be small. His short and choppy fur was still a mess. You could tell he never groomed it. He was dirty, but his pelt was the color of the sand that made it filthy. So, it blended. Twists and locks of matted fur caught a faint breeze.
The large male moved forward and looked down at her. He was clearly muscular. He looked at her with honey gold eyes. He would have no trouble saving her. So, he grabbed her scruff and dragged her closer to the water. There, he splashed water onto her face. He held a worried look on his face.
He then took to his nature and lay in the sand nearby to wait for the waters affect. She would wake up soon enough. He wagged his tail faintly to let her hear some sort of sound. He seemed relaxed as he watched over her in the shade of the trees.

Eira awoke as she felt water on her. *Wolf!* She couldn't move and her paw still hurt, so she just growled, she tried to turn her head, but was in pain. *Wait a second, this wolf saved me!* Eira quickly stopped growling and tried to wag her tails as much as she could. "I'm sorry, my name's Eira. I don't know how I got here. I was running and I tripped and fell. I think I might've broken my left paw. I'm not used to this weather." She smiled and finally managed to wag her tails swiftly. She tried to lick the water off of her face. She moved closer to the water and started to lap it up quickly. Eira took a second to look at herself. Her blue-green eyes glowing, and her red fur standing out. She twitched her brown ears and looked back at the wolf. She managed to turn around and face the new wolf. Her savior. "You, you are my savior, kind wolf. She shone her eyes at the wolf and smiled again. "I, I can't thank you enough. Eira moved to a more comfortable position and moved closer to the new wolf. She put her right paw closer to his paws, and started to slowly blink. She wagged her tails again and licked her nose. She closed her eyes and thought for a moment.
*This wolf is my guardian.*

Hades turned his head to gaze at the female as she woke up. She seemed to register that he was there, which was good. He took notice of her hurt paw and blinked, a sound making him blink, she was growling.
Then it seemed she realized he was her savior. Her tails wagged and Hades tilted his head. "No worries little lady. I'm Hades and you must have sleep walked into the desert. You are lucky I heard you cry out after your fall. Your paw isn't broken, just sprained. Oh, well good thing I am huh?"
He returned her smile, but didn't wag his tail. He watched her as she licked her face and nodded towards the water. As she moved he studied her coloring and smiled again. She was better groomed and brighter colored than himself.
"You have wonderful coloring ma'am," he spoke as she flicked her ears. He met her gaze as she turned to face him. He was glad he chose to save her, but he wasn't sure why.
"Savior? Oh! I couldn't let a pack wolf die here. The pack would swarm my home looking for her," he watched her eyes.
"Thank me? I can't let ladies die ma'am," he replies. "Where are you from?"

Eira opened her eyes again and smiled. "I'm from the Aurelian Enclave and I'm an Eranthe there." She paused and put her muzzle in the air, in case any pack wolf was coming. Would they be mad if she was saved by a loner? "Thank you about my coloring," she paused and twitched her ears, "Hades." Eira put her left paw out and examined it for a little bit. "Do you know how long it'll be until I can run again? Or get back to my pack? Wherever it is." She began to groom herself, to get dirt and twigs and such out of her soft fur. "You're fur goes good with the desert, that's good." When she finished, she moved her tails closer to her and licked them. They were softer than the rest of her fur, and sometimes that bothered her. Are all tails softer than their "owners'" fur? Eira knew that she was different from a lot of wolves, but she didn't mind. She was the good different, it didn't matter hat wolves think of her, it's what she thinks of herself. "Exactly, how cold does it get here at night?"

Hades returned her smile and wagged his tail. He listened to her speak and nodded in understanding.
"The Enclave. Friendly bunch aren't they? Sounds like a nice place to live," he replied calmly as he watched her. He noticed her scent the air and smiled faintly.
"No worries. We will get you home before you are missed. Let your paw rest for a bit then I will take you home," he promised warmly.
"You are quite welcome ma'am," he replies asn his ears twitch as she speaks his name. He then listened to her question. He looked at her hurt paw and smiled.
"Its a small sprain. You will be walking by sunset. Running by morning. You can get home by tonight. Beter to travel at night in the desert anyways," he replies calmly.
Hades watched her groom herself and smiled. Something, that by looking at him one could tell, he never did. "I'm a desert wolf. We go well in the hot desert, but we aren't pretty."
"It gets pretty cool. I wouldn't say cold though. The sand retains just enough heat to keep any wolf warm. That's why I would rather move at night really," he replied calmly. He tilts his head and smiled again.
"Hungry?"

Eira looked back into the water and sighed. "Running, something that I've always loved ever since I was a pup." She slowly tried to get up with holding her sprained paw up, making sure it wasn't touching the ground. "Hungry? You have no idea." She closed he eyes and sniffed the air for any scents of food. I probably can't catch anything with my paw sprained. I can't dig, I can't run. Oh well, Eira thought to herself. The morning sky still grey, teasing the threat of rain. I hope it rains! I love rain! She quickly dipped her right paw into the water next to her and watched as it created circles, as if it was an echo. "What's around here? Anything you might need help with? Or do you have food stalked away in a den or something?" Eira didn't mind hunting, she just didn't know what she could do to help. She can't run, and she can't walk on her sprained paw until morning. How how I wish it was already morning. She then said something to the wolf because she thinks he knows how to get back to her territory.
"I have no clue how to get back to my pack, so, I suppose you might?"

Hades stands and looks at her as she moved about.
"You will be good as new tomorrow morning." He moved off a little ways and motioned to a den under a tree. "Care to rest? I'll go hunt for us both." Hades crouches and smiles warmly. He was glad she was trying to walk. He hoped she would be okay faster than he had said she would be.
He looked at the sky as a rain drop pelted his nose. He ran off and was gone a short while. The storm raged and he brought back a chunk of meat. He dropped it near the den and her. He just wanted her to get better and get home.
"Not a lot really. Help? No thank you." He replied calmly. He didn't want her to hurt herself helping him. He wanted her home before her pack got to him. Her question startled him.
"Your pack? Why yes. I do know how to get to it. We can head out after you eat. Your alpha or what ever will be looking for you. I'm glad that you feel well enough to try and walk. Don't over do it little lady. Okay?" He smiled at her as he spoke.

Eira twitched her ears when the wolf said to not over do it. I know not to over do it. Even though I know he's just being nice, I know not to over it! Whatever, even if I do, it would be my fault. The thoughts raced in her mind, was she being mean? How would it be mean if she just thinks to herself? "Thank you for the food!" Eira said as her tail wagged and she sat down, slowly putting her paw to ground because her arm was getting tired. "Ow," she said quietly, and quickly lifted her paw back up. Since he was the one who retrieved the food, he should have the first bite, so she moved the meat closer to him but sliding it with her muzzle. "You can go ahead and start eating, please. You retrieved it, and you're helping me, so you can start eating. If you're hungry." Eira paused and twitched her ears as she thought about what she was going to say next. "I'll be right back." She laid down and closed her eyes, sniffed the chunk, and starting giving a late, thank you. Whatever animal you were, I respect you. Let the Great Spirits guide you to where you shall be. Also, if this wolf ever needs help, tell the Great Spirits to give a kind wolf a sign. Or, if you can, give me a sign so I can repay him.
She opened her eyes, looked at the new wolf, and smiled, thumping her tails on the ground.

He noted the twitch in her ears. Worried he had offended her. He hoped she knew he didn't mean to offend. He just wanted her to get better. He didn't trust packs and wanted to stay clear of them. So he needed her to be well enough to walk.
He wagged his tail and sat to watch her once more. Letting her keep her thoughts to herself. He looked up at the rain falling from the sky. Letting it soak his face. He closed his golden eyes and smiled softly. She had thanked him so he chose to speak back.
"You are welcome ma'am. Enjoy," he replies warmly. He didn't look back down. Liking the cooling touch of the rain water. In the desert, you had to enjoy the rare chance of rain. He heard her say ow and his head snapped down.
He eyed her with a worried look. When the food was slid to him he laughed. Shaking his head to say no.
"I ate already. I brought this back for you," he replies as he slides it back to her. A warm look in his eyes. "I hope I don't seem rude." He looked worried about this.
He could feel his pelt untangling. His pelt was smoothing out now thanks to the rain. The pelt of sandy brown fur clung to him. Exposing his muscular frame under it all. He watched her pray for the food.
He knew what had triggered this and smiled. "Run into a spiritual wolf at some point?" he asks warmly.

"Run into a spiritual wolf? No. I've always done this, and I've always will." Eiar looked up into the sky and let the rain soak her pelt. She felt alive. She felt awakened. She looked down and the chunk of meat and took a bite. Delicious. Her tails started to wag as Eira started to eat it. "Oh, you're not rude! You're very nice and polite," she said while trying to avoid to look into his eyes. What am I doing? When I talk to a wolf, it's polite to look into his/her eyes! She looked into his eyes and smiled, wagging her tails again. She looked at his fur as the rain fell upon it. "You look pretty strong for a loner." Eira watched as his fur was smoothing and how his muscular frame was exposed under his fur. "I wish you could show me some moves, but my paw would have to be better for that." She took one more glance at his fur, and how well built his body was, and continued to eat.
When she finished, she started to thump her tails on the ground. Thump thump thump thump thump Her ears twitched and she looked back his fur. She licked her nose nervously and started to examine his body. He's interesting, this wolf. Eira put her head up and let the rain slide down from her face, then she continued to examine him.
I wish I could see what his moves are.

Her reply was swift, and made him frown faintly. "Most wolves don't do that anymore. It surprised me," he replies softly. Hoping not to have upset her. He looked down at her in time to see her look up at the sky. The rain falling all around them.
He watched her calmly as she stood there. The rain seemed to make her happy. Her gaze went to the meat and he looked away. Padding to the waters edge to drink. As she ate he drank, filling up on water for the journey across the desert.
He stops as she speaks again. Lifting his head to look at his now clean fur in the water as he listened. "Thank you ma'am." He looks at her and meets her eyes.
He wagged his tail as well in thanks before shying away. "I'm not that strong," he admits shyly. "Maybe I can come to your lands and show you when you are better," he replies softly.
He had an odd feeling that she wanted to see him fight. See him use the muscle he was still learning to use himself. But, he didn't know how to show her. Not without her being healed or there being trouble.

Eira smiled and looked down at her hurt paw, "When I'm better, I could definitely show you some of my moves! Come on, you seem strong, there's no reason to be shy! If you don't think you're that strong, then I could help you, well, if you don't mind, of course." She moved to the water and started to drink slowly. She pushed all of her weight to the right, and slowly put down her left paw. it hurt a little, but not enough for her to give out a whine or anything. When Eira finished, she started to look at the male wolf again. "Oh, uh, sorry," she took another glance at his body, and looked on the ground, "it's just that, never mind..." She laid down and moved her ears around, the rain falling down was a peaceful song. She wanted to sing. Sing with the rain. [/i]Now that would just be plain silly. Why should I sing with the rain?[/i][/color] The rhythm of the rain falling, it wanted for her to sing. Eira found herself almost about to howl, the feeling of a voice wanting to break free inside her was strong. "Whatever I do, do not howl," she mumbled to herself.
Instead, she smirked.

Hades let out a soft sigh at this. He kicked out his hind legs and hit a palm tree. It wobbled and slowly, as if in slow motion, fell to the ground. He turned to her and sat watching her.
"I would like to have a training battle with you. If you wanted to, after your paw is better. That is the strength I have. I'm not a fighter though. I never learned," he replied softly.
He watched her drink and shook out his drenched pelt. He felt oddly cool. He watched her shuffle her weight. then her paw went down. He could tell it still hurt. Yet, she was a tough she-wolf.
Hades watched her look at him again. "Sorry? What for?" he asked seeming oblivious. "No. Please tell me ma'am?" He crouched and tilted his head. Hearing the rains song in the air. He tilted his head back.
His howl broke free. Dancing its way out of his maw. Lifting up into the sky. The tone matching the rain, twinning with its song. He let his heart out. The rain and him seeming to become one.
He stopped his song and let his body sway. The rain easing his mind.
