[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/5pev.png] Nodding her head Stone turned and with a flick of her tail she set off towards to the south eastern side of the borders. She was forced to take her time, her old injury flaring up in her right front leg, and it took some teeth gritting to avoid limping. The darned thing was a constant bother and one of her greatest flaws that she went to great lengths to hide. Luckily the slight deformation wasn't overly noticeable as long as she positioned her self the right way...
The best thing to do would be to distract Evelyn's attention to avoid allowing any chance to bring her leg into focus. But what to ask? She did not want to bring any question related to the Lumen past up, that could be disastrous, but what else could she use? Stone's brain was still tired and thinking of such topics was difficult. A small idea finally made itself known, and Stone asked, "What would you personally look for in a pack? And if there is anything I can do to make joining a more comfortable experience just let me know." Being a hostess was not something Stone usually volunteered her services for, but she suppose it made sense to make an exception in this case.
As she had been thinking she had made it the entrance of the thick Poppy Meadow, and the falling sunset filtered through the flowers, setting the field into a blaze of deep crimson and golden orange light. She stopped, the rare sight taking her breath away and stared on at the magnificent sight. How could one ignore the possibility of peace with a view such as this? Stone's thinking was solidly implemented in reality, but even she could not deny that the sight had an unearthly quality to it.

Evelyn was easily able to keep up with Stone as she trotted on. If the Lumen was blind, then she sure as hell wouldn't be able to see the fact that the Lupus that apparently in pain. She couldn't identify where the source of the pain was, but she certainly decided to keep her mouth closed about it. The wolf was old, but she was not blind and she knew better than to pester others about things that might not even be occurring. She knew it bothered her when others did so to her. Not that it had happened often anyways.
She listened and thought intently about the question she asked. She waited until they reached the meadow to answer, walking out to the center of the field when her company stopped to view the sight before them. It was breathtaking to most because of the sun, but not much to Evelyn. She had seen many beautiful things before and this was not number one on her list. However, it was in first place on her list of best colors. She absolutely adored the colors of the field, as most Lumen would. Lumen had a slightly strange obsession with color.
Evelyn looked at her, "I wouldn't know what to look for in a pack. After what happened to me, I never planned on joining any pack. I planned on remaining a loner for the rest of my life, and dying alone as well." She paused, thinking about something for a moment. "It's not often I come across a wolf who tolerates me. Most want to kill me, which I often wait for. Every time, though, I'm much too strong for them and attacking me is a waste of their time."
She flattened her black ears, which were growing warm from the sun, as well as her black feet and tail. Her white fur was fine, though. "Your wish changed that..." She trailed off somewhat. "I never expected something like that and, even though your a Lupus, I think we can be friends. However...don't expect me to adjust too easily. It's been a century since I last associated myself with wolves like this, and my last pack wasn't exactly ideal." She chuckled.
Evelyn turned around and sat, looking at the sunset over the tall poppies. "Lumen are supposed to hate Lupus, did you know? I'm not certain why, but I've never held that kind of hatred toward any wolf... For a moment, I hated you, but only when you spoke of equality." Her crimson eyes grew sad as she gazed now at Keinvarii. "I guess...the only thing you can do to make this easier for me, Stone...is to be my friend."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/5pev.png] Lumen were supposed to hate Lupus? The thought was a foreign one for Stone, she had never considered that certain species could have such a strong dislike of each other based on their types. Stone had of course lived a sheltered life, away from all other wolf interaction and deep rooted prejudices.
What must it be like to gaze at others with such a blindfold? Surely this sad disability could be avoided, filling pups' hearts with hate was a rather disturbing way to start out in life. Flattening one ear to the side she reflected on how different she may have been if raised in a pack, could her segregation be a blessing as well as a curse? She glanced at Evelyn as the Lumen spoke, a forlong expression burdening her blue eyes.
She really did know very little abut being a friend, social interactions having been an uncomfortable burden in the past. However, since meeting Magispar her eyes had been opened to a word where loneliness was not a requirement. With a thoughtful voice she replied, "I can sympathize to a degree with your feelings of loneliness. Until wandering into this territory the thought of living and dying alone was not only appealing, but also a reality. This issue of hating species is foreign to me, having lived separate from others so long. It seems like a sad concept...It may become a new creed of this pack to destroy this way of thinking, I know I can not tolerate the thought of a wolf hating another wolf for being a different species." She paused to reign in her rant, not realizing she had such a strong opposition to a concept she had never heard of before. Where could this strong opinion have come from?
"I cannot give my undying promise to be the best of friends, but I can guarantee that I'll do my best. I guess that as long as I am needed I will try to be there." She smiled ruefully, with her track record it wouldn't be too hard to set the standards. However, she did know one thing for sure, as long as her friends remained in the Philia Alliance, so would she. All she had used to remain alive before was her powers, what served as a reason to live for the Lumen? "May I ask what has kept you going? You seem to have had a lot to persevere through, and yet you've apparently come out so strong."

Evelyn was at a loss for words at the young wolf's question. Though it was true she had plenty to persevere through, she had never once thought about why she continued to live the way she did. What did keep her going? There could have been many reasons, but she could honestly think of none. Never once had it crossed her mind why she kept living, why she didn't move in the forest that day after she nearly killed her pack and let some bear eat her. She wondered why...she didn't allow herself to perish.
It was then the Lumen realized how different she was than Stone. She had been open to many emotions, the majority of them being negative, while this Lupus was not aware of the hatred filling the world. Then again, not every wolf was the same. Hate and love were the only concepts in the world that no two creatures would understand the same. Stone was concealed from the world and Evelyn was open to it, but only to the negative things. To have Stone treat her like a friend was different and new to the Lumen, even though the Lupus seemed to feel somewhat awkward about it.
She held her friend's blue gaze, "Honestly...I don't know. I suppose, subconsciously, it was to prove my old pack wrong, to probe to them that I am strong." She paused, sighing. "The day I got my powers, I nearly killed my entire pack because it was such a rush of strength. I ran away when I was finished with them and hid in the forest. However, having that much power suddenly drain took its toll on me. I passed out in the forest for several days and I felt very weak when I woke up. I wanted to lay there and die, let some other creature eat me. But...there was a drive, a fire that remained lit under me, that kept me wanting to live. I wanted to prove them wrong, I guess. That's the only reason I can think of that would be a sufficient answer to your question."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/5pev.png] So that was what kept the Lumen going, thought Stone, and from the sounds of it the motivator was a pretty strong one. She was glad to hear that Evelyn had a reason to keep going, at least she would not have to worry about her drive. Stone was finding that worrying about her friends was a side effect that came with having social relations.
"We should push on then, I make it a habit to do a walk through every night, the exercise helps calm me down too. I am more of a night wolf myself, so sleeping takes a back burner." She picked her self back up and pushed on, covered by the large poppies. She pitied any intruder that tried to attack them in this field, they wouldn't stand much of a chance in such an odd territory. With her muddled green and grey fur she blended well into the scenery of green flower stalks.
Pondering she wondered what had brought her to this point. She couldn't fathom what had pushed her to leave her secure hideout in the cliff tops. She had been perfectly settled in the rocky face, living off fish and sea mammals, her fur accustomed to the salty air and ocean spray. She thought out loud, "You know, I never understood what caused me to travel this way...It felt like a calling, just a random urge to leave and though I miss my sea home I find myself more content here." She kept walking, but her eyes did not not see, her mind travel ling back to that small cave.

Following her companion, Evelyn couldn't see Stone living by the sea, it just didn't seem right to her. Then again, the Lumen had lived in a canyon, which was a very unlikely place to find one of her species. Perhaps that was the reason her family chose to live there. It was secluded and no one would ever come down to look for them there. Hell, most wolves wouldn't dare venture into a canyon in the first place. Unless you could fly or had super jumping abilities, the chances of getting out of one were slim to none.
"Have you ever wondered why there is hatred in this world?" Evelyn asked her, pondering the answer herself. "It's not an emotion one can particularly understand, neither can one understand love. I suppose, love an hate are something every creature is with at some point in their lives."
Evelyn wasn't necessarily paying attention to where she was going. Her crimson eyes didn't catch the roots right in front of her. Her black paw caught it and she fell forward. With ease, she flipped herself up and around, landing on all fours once again. "I'm just a tad clumsy..."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/5pev.png] Stone glanced back at the sudden commotion in time to see Evelyn trip over a root and then gracefully recover. She chuckled a little, "I don't know, you seem pretty agile to me. I hadn't thought about it before, but I suppose that hate exist because fear exists. Fear makes up a large part of our instincts, it tell us when something is wrong." She paused to reflect some more, her snout wrinkling in thought.
"I believe hate develops when we don't face the fear. It becomes a defense tactic. It just seems easier to get angry at something then admit to being afraid of it. I could be completely off, but I guest that's what it amounts to for me; fear. I can't explain love, I don't quite understand that emotion near as well, perhaps because I have yet to experience it. Fear has just be a constant factor, so I have had some time to think about it a bit more..."
As she walked an idea came to her, "What would you say to meeting up in Kytalae Hollow to get to know some others? I have yet to meet everyone my self, so it would be nice to know whom is safe and whom is not in terms of patrolling. Just a suggestion, if you're not feeling up to it then that's fine." She did not want to sound pushy, especially as Evelyn had just joined up.

Evelyn saw the reason behind her answer and nodded, more to herself than to Stone. Then, her mind was snapped back into normality when she was asked a question. She thought for a moment, wondering whether or not it was a good idea. It had been a long time since the Lumen had been around more than one wolf at a time, so she was sure something could go wrong.
However, she did need to get to know others.
"Sure, all right." Her voice was abnormally quiet, shyness kicking in again. She was uncertain of what she was about to do, but she trusted Stone. She was the first one to be trusted by the Lumen in a very long time. "J-just... I'm not sure I'll handle it too well. It's been a l-long time since I've been around others." She followed her friend regardless, prepared to meet complete strangers in the hollow.
OOC: It sounds like a good idea. I'll go post there now.
