Regardless of whether or not he knew of the names, the nature of the packs should have still been knowledge that Leo had acquired from other loners. Unless of course those loners had been biased themselves, perhaps some had for some strange reason spoken fondly of the Mafia. He personally hadn't met a wolf that cared for them, after all they had a wolf who'd had to escape the Mafia right in the Children. Altan chose not to share that information though. If for some ridiculous reason Leo chose to join that pack then chances were he'd tell them were Brightness Darkly was.
Too much pride, well that was something that Altan could associate with slightly, not that he thought he had too much pride. He was fine in his mind, his head was shaped to a perfectly normal size and there was nothing wrong with his ego. The difference was his own pride didn't prevent him from following orders, he may have had pride, but he still had respect. Even for Coneiron despite that mixed jealousy he also had for him and the other Guardians too. Leo however seemed to guess there was a similarity there though.
"No." He responded shaking his head. "I wouldn't have come back if I wanted to be a loner. I wanted to travel, just explore a bit." He had always planned on returning to the valley, for Nocht and of course Reynard. Even if the keiyou had his own pups now, evidently he still cared for Altan and his brother.

Leo smiled slightly at the explanation. Such an obvious reason. It was dull really. Strange that it didn’t bother him. Normally he would turn tail at the sight of anything he considered dull, and mundane, but there was something about Altan, that even when what he said was completely and utterly dull, it still held Leo’s interest. “Ah, yes, well, that’s a drawback of living in a pack that settles in one place. In my old pack we used to travel always. It’s an advantage really. You adapt to many different conditions, and you learn new things, that could end up saving your life later on.” He explained, thinking back to the days when each step you took could lead you into danger. It was a good life really. Shame it was a life surrounded by annoying wolves who had no backbone, and didn’t really give a shit. He had no anger towards them though. Just an emptiness. He would say that it was because thinking about it was too boring, and it didn’t really bother him anyway. But, it was because he had simply shut out the pain (along with emotion altogether), so there was nothing left to feel. He yanked himself back from the dark corners of his mind, and decided it was best to change the subject. They obviously would disagree on the mafia, but Leo was stubborn, and was determined to see it through to the end. Besides, it was unlikely he would join the mafia after meeting Altan, a wolf that was actually interesting, and enjoyable to talk too. “I’ll come back here in a few days before I make my choice. I’ll tell you which pack I’ve chosen then” He promised, and hidden in the words was a longing desire, that surprised even him. An a confirmation, that they were (if Altan returned the feeling) indeed friends.

It may have seemed rather dull and ordinary, but Altan certainly hadn't cared to look at it in that manner. Instead he focused upon the point that he had actually traveled unlike many others. Satinka for instance hadn't been born to the Children and yet she still hadn't traveled as much as he had. He had gone out, done it and still managed to return at the end of it. Leo never discussed that thought though, and so the mundane or not, it still wasn't a thought in Altan's own mind.
"Sounds interesting." He commented, that too surely had its drawbacks though, beyond the fact that Leo simply didn't feel he was needed there anymore. Interesting or not though, back at the valley with the Children was his home and Altan was still convinced that it would continue to be. Leo apparently wasn't quite so sure and so he said nothing else on the matter, the lupus was changing the subject now anyway.
He was ready to travel to the South now it seemed, perhaps he wanderings here had simply been him resting from having left the lands of the Children. He would return though, and Altan had no reason to assume he was lying, he'd simply have to wait and see. "Alright then." He evidently wouldn't be able to stop Leo from going to the Mafia, he'd simply have let him find out on his own as he intended to. "I'll see you then. Travel safely." He was tempted to give another warning about the Mafia, though he doubted Leo would truly listen anyway, perhaps simply grow annoyed by it, he'd have to leave it at that.

Leo found he was suddenly reluctant to leave. He wasn’t surprised that Altan hadn’t understood the true implications of what his promise meant. Anyone who knew him though would have seen the deeper meaning. Leo, never really bothered to keep connections. The concept of friendship, beyond that of a mutual need was foreign to him. So him, offering to return, even if he choose to stay with the mafia, meant a great deal. It meant he was bothering, for the first time in his life, for someone else. He was certain that Altan wanted to say more, probably about the mafia, but he didn’t. Well, he understood boundaries, it seemed. He didn’t think he would be too bothered if Altan had mentioned the mafia, though he would have been a bit annoyed, but for him, a bit annoyed was a daily occurrence. He fought to keep his gaze from lowering to the ground. He didn’t want to leave straight away. He stared at the sky. It was evening, but there were still a few hours before nightfall. He preferred to travel by night anyway. Although, he doubted Altan would be able to stay here for that long. “I won’t be leaving until nightfall. I prefer to travel at night.” He explained. He walked a few more paces, until a question came to mind. “Would you be allowed to hunt? You know, outside of your own territory?” He asked, eyes brightening. It was obvious that the next question, if the answer was yes, would be, ‘Do you want to hunt with me?’

Leo didn't leave right away though, he hovered silently for a moment before making a comment that came as a slight surprise to him. Not the part about his preference of traveling at night, each to their own and all that, besides meant he had some company for a little while longer. Altan of course had company back at the pack, he could probably find someone to talk to if he really wanted to, and if worst ever came to worst he could be stuck with Reynard's pups for a while, actually getting to bond with them as Satinka mentioned he would at some point.
The company came with request to join him hunting. As a hunter now he spent a fair amount of time doing just that, though he wouldn't say no if Leo wanted to spend a little more time with him. It was nice to have that feeling and he could help give him a meal before he set off on his travels, as already Altan had figured that was where Leo was going with his question.
"Yeah, this isn't another pack's territory so we'll be fine." Altan responded, once again left with the feeling that even though small, Leo's previous pack must have been fairly strict upon what they could and couldn't do. Then again as a traveling pack they didn't have the territory issue, maybe that was what was throwing him off a little. He'd get the hang of it. "Do you want to eat before you set off then?" He thought he'd ask rather than simply assume.

(If you're charecter accepts the offer to hunt the unicorn, Sanity said he would roleplay it for us)
Leo nodded, having to physically stop his tail from wagging. He kept his expression neutral, although inside he was bubbling with excitement. He enjoyed hunting anyway, but the only wolf he had ever hunted with had been his sister, so he was curious to see what would happen. “I usually eat when I’m in a place that I know has food. You only ever know what the conditions are like today, and you can only guess about tomorrow. So eat while you can, drink while you can, and live while you can” He said, repeating what his parents used to say, word for word. It took him a while to figure out that, out of context, it might sound a little odd. “That was my parents motto. It’s a rule when it comes to travelling. You never know where you could end up. You could go days without food at times, if you travelled in the wrong direction.” He explained, sniffing the air for prey scents while he did so. “How good a hunter are you?” He asked. “Reckon you and me could take down something larger than a jackalope, something like a…unicorn?” He continued, excited. He could smell one, not too far away. He had scented it earlier, but hadn’t made an attempt to hunt. He was a lone wolf, and was more likely to injure himself in the attempt to take it down. It had never been worth the risk. It would be a very filling meal, and would last a while. Maybe Altan could take it back to camp, although he would have to drag it quite a distance. Still, they would both enjoy the meal, plus the thrill of the catch.
