Once his favorite season, now only brought tears of sadness. A reminder of lost dreams and false hopes. Though lost, no wolf would draw near the Cael. Days had passed since the male had last eaten; his stomach long given up trying to growl to get attention. He walked the line of no return; his corpse like figure dull and unkempt.
A coat that use to shine with the warming sun now lay tattered and in disarray. Eyes had long since lost the luster they once held. There was no reason to be happy. Everything he cared for, everyone he loved, had vanished. For some time he blamed the birds.
Mother nature had let her fury known, her rage consuming any life that stood in her path as ash filled the skies and molten rivers scorched any unlucky creature that grew too close to its boiling path. Proof that his second life was pointless. Now was his third try.
He found himself thinking of the volcano again. The day that the land shook and cries of sadness and horror flooded the skies. Screams still echoed in his mind, a vivid memory he would never be able to rid himself of. Caspian could picture the last moment he ever saw Lilima before Mother Nature claimed her as her own.
Yet even as he cursed the earth, he knew there was nothing that could have been done. They had been careless and did little to head the signs in the days before the mountain had erupted. Even the dream he had of the coming events had been played off as nothing more than a dream rather than a warning. Could things have turned out differently if he had told someone? A question he would never know the answer to.
Legs shook before he collapsed on the moors, letting the sun burn him as his frail frame hit the ground. Shoulders shook from the effort of moving; what little fat to keep him alive barely clung to his bones. Copper and Silver gaze looked across the sea of emptiness and found nothing. Ears folded against his head, unable to bother moving out of the way of the sun.
Perhaps it would be death, coming to greet him for the final journey that lay ahead; to the lands where his family waited his arrival. “Please take me home…” His words barely audible in the winter winds as snow fell from the clouded heavens above.
That was when he remembered. He had to get back to his pack, his home.

Eira looked at the sky, as if looking for an answer to an unsolvable question. *Why hasn't a pack accepted me? I try, but they never do.* She let out a howl, a howl to signal that a wolf is near. She started to walk around for a little bit, and then started to talk to herself. "Well, maybe I can find a wolf to play with! A loner like me! That sounded a little, how do I say, pup-like. Oh well! At least I'm me!" She laid down and started to play with her tails, like they were somewolf she could play with. Eira quickly took a glance at her only paw that was blood red, and suddenly, became mesmerized by it. She stopped playing with her tails and sat down, holding her right paw up. *What if this paw is really a curse? What if it's a blessing? Why do some wolves say that?* She sat there for a while, looking at her paw. She didn't care if anywolf saw her, she just kept on sitting there.
All of a sudden, she snapped back into reality. "Whoa, that was weird." Eira put her paw down and started to look for a drink of water. A little while later, she spotted a flooded area of water; probably from a storm. "Is that water even clean?" She then thought of how dry her mouth was, and went to take a drink. As Eira bent over, she took a moment to look at her reflection. She admired how she looked, actually. How her ears were brown, how her eyes were sky blue mixed with grass green, how her fur was red, and how her front, right paw was blood red. She then thought to herself *Why not?* and jumped into the flooded area. It was about a little under her shoulders, like the area was in a hole. Eira dove under water and quickly came back up. She took a nice, long, refreshing, drink and left. When she got out, she started running to dry off. She didn't even shake once. She didn't care that she was soaking went from ears to claws, she just started running; with a smile on her face. Enjoying the freedom. Enjoying her life.
She spotted some elk. It looked like it was weak and it was a a male. Eira crouched down, still dripping wet, and slowly started crawling to the elk. The male quickly saw her because of her coat, and she started chasing after him. Because of her speed, stamina, and agility, she was able to catch the male in no time at all. She bit it leg and then it's side. Eira thought she killed the elk so he wouldn't have to suffer being weak; because he was really weak. She thought he was going to die today, so she did it for good. She took a few bites until she smelled something. A wolf, perhaps. Eira ripped a piece of meat out of the elk and started to move towards that smell. When she arrived, she saw the wolf. Helpless on the ground. She gasped and dropped the meat. "I... I have to help him!" Eira ran quickly and found an area she could use for a small den. She came back and picked up the meat and brought it to the den. When she came back, she then shook all of her wetness off and nudged the wolf with her muzzle. "My name is Eira, I'm going to help you." She looked at her wet fur, which looked like dancing fire when wet, and let some drops drip on the wolf.

He opened his eyes at the feel of water - the feeling so welcome to the Cael, as it was where he was born. A she wolf watched him. No where to run, nowhere to hide if she attacked. Fear flicked into his mind, but was swept away swiftly.
Lost in his quandary, his keen eyes turned toward his red companion as she called out a greeting, his tail slapping the ground weakly - a fish out of water. "Good morning or is it evening? I'm Caspian.." Though no less pleasing in tonality than her own call, Caspian's voice was more subdued and seeped in thoughtfulness.
He cast one more speculative glance at the facade of emptiness before he turned back to the female, his voice again a gentle murmur against the breaking dawn.
"I just want to get back home.. My pack needs me.." He nodded down toward the distance, towards his lake home. His tone became conversationally inquisitive as he canted his head to one side, again seeming to be preoccupied.
"Who are you?" he paused and shuddered as though cold. He was to hot now.

Eira smiled at the wolf, trying to tell him she was going to help him. "It's morning, and I'm Eira." She nuzzled the wolf by the name of Caspian on his chest again, and then put her ear where his heart is. She heard it beating, slowly. She then put her paw, ever so gently, on his stomach, to make sure he was breathing ok. She looked towards the lake, and noticed he was a Cael. Eira shook of as much water as she could onto Caspian, then laid down behind him and let her back touch his, so his back could be wet. She then ever so slightly got up, and walked in front of him again. She notice his face was still a little dry, so she licked his face once. Eira said in the most gentle, calm, soothing voice, "I'm going to try to help you up, ok?" So she walked around the wolf looking for where to pick him up. She looked at his side, but couldn't think how to help him up from there. So she gave both of her tails a wag, and tried to help him up with his side.

Caspian realized she was trying to help him. "Morning then, nice to meet you," he replies softly. He felt her nuzzle his chest and blinked. It was a friendly, and odd feeling. A touch he had not felt in a long time now.
When she placed her ear to g=his chest, he felt an odd warmth. The touch of someone caring was new to him. She seemed worried about his slow heartbeat. He wanted to speak, but she moved again.
She placed a paw on his stomach. He realized what she was doing and it made him relax. She was checking his breathing. He took a few breathes and then watched her gaze go off towards the distance. Towards his lake home. "I'm from The Accord.."
His voice was crackling as he spoke. He felt the cooling water on his pelt, and his tail. It made him flop his tail on the dusty ground once more. Then she lay with her back on his own to wet him and this made him wake up fully.
"I'm the priest there.." He added as she licked his face. This was a shocker to him and made him jump faintly. "Okay," he said to her. Her calm voice soothing him more. He struggled to his paws with her help and winced faintly.
"Thank you."

Eira looked at the wolf then back at the lake. "I'm a loner. A simple loner." She said with a sad tone. "You're welcome." She added in a soft, voice, with a smile. "What's the Accord like? What's it like to be a priest?" She paused as she was about to ask another question, but she stopped herself from asking and moved on to other questions. "Are you hungry? Thirsty?" She looked towards the den which was the direction the lake was, and started to help Caspian walk to the den with her. Eira started digging as fast and deep as she could. She stopped and found water, far in the ground. She started digging to make the hole wider, so more water could come through. "This might take a while, but I promise I will help you." Eira licked Caspian's face to groom and to wet it, then started to dig. A while later, she made the hole about the size smaller than Caspian, and told him to roll around in there if he can. "I'm sorry it took me a while; and I'm sorry it's short, and I'm sorry the sun in going down." Eira moved the wolf closer to the hole and went inside the den to bring the meat out. "If you're hungry, all I have is this, I'm sorry." She pulled out the elk meat and held it in her mouth, waiting for a response. She thought to herself, *I hope it rains soon.*

Caspian followed her gaze and let a longing look fill his eyes. His heart yearned for his home. He wanted to dive into the waters. Chase the lake dwelling fish. Swim to the island. He even missed helping other wolves with their problems. He just missed his life.
"A simple loner huh? My pack would have loved you. A helpful she-wolf. You would have been snatched up swiftly in the Accord. A useful wolf," he said softly to her. He meant his words and his tail flaps on the ground. A small cloud of dust flies up in the air behind the weakened Cael.
Her sad tone changed when she spoke again. Her voice was soft and she had a smile now. Then she asked him a few questions.
"The Accord? Its a wonderful place. Our home is in the beautiful lake way down that way. We believe in strength in numbers and unity. We believe in equal rights as well. We stand equal as one. Ranks will combine with freedom of speech and the ability to stand for yourself without rash judgment. This creates our legendary pack that is unlike any other. Any wolf may seek entrance. Doesn't matter your age, talent, or species. We value freedom by offering a safe home for wolves that seek it. For those that seek protection. Those that seek peace and healing for a broken soul. For those that seek kinship. We are as soulful as the loons cry. As fierce as the raging wind that beats the cliffs. As united as the flora hidden in the deep forests. A wonderful place," he replies to her question.
He takes a moment to think about her next question to him. His gaze fixed on her now as he flicked his ears.
"A priests life is a bit of a tough one to explain. I'll try to help you though. I am considered the wisest wolf in the pack. This is because I have seen many events and learned a great deal thanks to it. I help plan festivals with the king and queen. I also help counsel the wounded souls. I am the link to the Great Spirit's for my pack. The pack seek me for guidance. I'm the most in touch with nature and help ensure the pack honors the land. That they respect the order of things," he says softly.
He watched her pause and waited for her to speak. She changed her mind and moved on to a new subject. He blinks and smiles faintly.
"I'm a little hungry. As for thirsty, I'm half fish. I'm sorta always in need of water," he says softly. He watches her with warm and calm eyes.
He walked slowly alongside her. His pelt and scales still looking dusty. He let her like his face and when the hole was done he lowered his face into the water. Then he rolled about in the water as best he could. His pelt and scales cleaning off as he did.
He looked up at her with warm eyes. "Thanks," he takes the elk meat and sets it down. "Please. You don't have to say sorry," he replies as he looks in her eyes warmly. Then he slowly starts to eat.

Eira smiled as he looked into her eyes. "Your welcome." She sat down and started to wag her tails watching him eat. "Really, you think they would've?" Eira smiled and gave out a small laugh. " Did the water help a little?" She looked at his scales as they were cleaner, and laid down next to him, and started to lick his back to get some dust and a little dirt off. When she finished, she walked and laid down in front of him, started wagging her tails again and watched him eat. "I like the color of your eyes," Eira finally said. She rolled on her back and started to yip like a pup and wagging her tails. She could tell he missed his pack, and wanted to lighten up the mood. Eira let out a bark, got up, and started to jog around Caspian. She kept on looking at him, and then tripped and fell in the small hole she made. She started to laugh as water splashed on her face. Her laugh was as warm as the morning sun. She wagged her tails, which were on Caspian, and stayed there, laughing.
"Wanna play?" Eira stopped laughing and started to frown. "Sorry, sometimes I act like a pup." She put her tails close to her and looked down into the water. Her ears were as dark as dirt, eyes as blue as the sky and green and the grass, and fur as red a dancing fire. She quickly moved her front right paw, and made sure Caspian didn't see it. *What if he thinks it's a curse? Like a lot of wolves? It's blood red, so maybe it is a curse." Eira quickly erased the fact that she thinks her paw is a curse, and started to think it was actually a blessing. *I like this wolf, maybe he can be my friend!* She thought he could, but still had a frown on her face. *I act like a pup sometimes, but that doesn't matter... does it?*

Her smile was warming, well, heart warming. She was polite at that, saying your welcome and making sure not to say things that could bother him. He noticed her tails.
"I like your tails. They suit you. Give you a graceful and yet powerful look," he speaks softly after he finished his meal. Her next question threw him off for a moment.
"Yes. I do think they would have," he replies warmly. Her laugh made him smile as he sat up more. The next question she posed was amusing to him and made his copper eye and his silver eye flick with amusement.
"Yes. It really did help," he answers warmly. He followed her gaze to his scales. He noted that they were cleaner now. Then she lay next to him and he turned his gaze back to her.
She started licking his pelt clean. He looked grateful at this. He was clean now, thanks to her. He watched her get up and walk back to her spot in front of him. She lay back down there and he went to say something. He loved that she was happy, friendly, she had the personality of his mother.
"Oh. Thanks. My copper eye I got from my mother. My Silver eye was from my father. I miss them.." he replies softly to her complement. Then she started acting like a pup. Something he missed doing.
This made him laugh. As she started running around him, the male crouched. A playful look on his face. When she fell he tensed, worried she had hurt herself. When she started to laugh her returned to his playful stance.
The warm laugh made him smile again. Then he felt her tails wagging on his back. He started jogging about her now. A smile on his maw.
"Sure! Lets play!" he paused and looked at her frown. "Don't be sorry. Being pup-like is a good thing. You can make friends and ease tension very well," he adds warmly to her. The priest flapped his tail on the dusty ground again as he smiled.
"You have nothing to be ashamed about sweetheart," he adds as he looks at her sad appearance .

Eira smiled when he said he liked how her tails suited her. "Thank you about the tails; and sometimes, I act like a pup to get away from danger. It's weird, but it works!" She got up and started to nip his ears. Then she started to lick him under his chin to to tickle him. She got up and started to jog around, and then flopped on her stomach and rolled onto her back, right by the paws of Caspian. Eira looked straight into his eyes again with her blue-green eyes, and rolled over onto her stomach. She started to nip at his paws, and then got up and started to jog around him again. She went behind him and started to paw at his tail. Then, she started barking a yipping playfully while laughing. Eira went back to the front of him, and then started to paw at his ears. She nipped the back of his neck every little bit, and rolled around on the ground, getting her fur dirty. She got up and started to nip at his back, making sure she didn't bite too hard. Then, Eira pounced on top of him, pinning him to the ground.

With her smile back, he grinned. "You are most welcome. That really works? Wow. I always fought off my dangers," he says with a soft laugh. He watched her for a moment as she spoke.
When she nipped his ears, the Cael growled playfully. Turning and nipping her shoulder softly. As she licked his chin, he laughed and placed a paws on her shoulder to ease her away from him a tiny bit.
He watched her jog about him and crouched to jump at her. then, she was at his paws, on her back. This made him grin and he started to tickle her with licks.
Their eyes met after he stopped tickling her. He felt at ease around her. A friend he could trust. He felt her nipping his paws, so he softly nipped her legs softly.
Next thing he knew, she was pawing his tail. That made him laugh. The last person to do that was his brother. He missed this playful nature.
He yips and nips at her shoulders as she nipped his back. He saw her jump, so he rolled. She landed on his chest and stomach. He laughs and wiggles under her, pawing at her chest softly. He was actually happy around her.

"Well, I fight off my dangers a lot, but sometimes I taunt them and act like a pup," she said laughing as he pawed at her chest softly. Eira jumped off and started to jog around him again, and licked his face a couple times. She wagged hey tails and nipped at his ears again, laughing. "You're fun!" She said, gently putting her blood red paw on his chest. Then, she crouched down again and started to laugh and taunt him playfully. "Is teh wittle puppy tired?" Eira laughed even louder as she said this and started paw at his ear, like it was his tail. She looked at him and started to frown again. Her tails stopped wagging, and her face was no longer filled with joy. "I'm... I'm going to try to... to go to take a nap," she said with her voice filled with sorrow. Her eyes started to water and she walked into the small den where she put the meat before. It wasn't very small, it was big enough for about 3 lyxxi and a pup. Eira laid down and faced the opposite direction to where the entrance was. She became quiet and curled her tails up to her stomach.

"Taunt them?" he asked as he listened to her laugh. He flapped his tail as her tongue met the fur on his face. He smiled as she nipped his ears.
"So are you!" he replies with a throaty laugh. He wasn't kidding ether. She was tons of fun to have around. He would miss her when he returned home.
"Oh! Your paw. Its beautiful," he says as he notices it. Her taunt hit his ears and he rolled to his paws. He pounced on her and nipped her ear softly.
Suddenly, she was walking away from him. Into her den. Her eyes were watery. She was, upset? He followed her to the entrance and crouched there.
"Eira? What's the matter?" he sounded worried. He was worried. He wondered if she was upset with him. He crouched just ouside the den to look at her.
He was sure it was him that upset him. He blinks and lowers his ears at the thought of having upset her. He frowned deeply and whimpered a tiny bit. Still feeling pup-like from their play. The Cael lowered his head almost to the ground and closed his eyes. Then he slowly opened them again to looks at her once more.

She turned around and faced him. Eira looked into his eyes again and scooted a little more back a little more for room, and lowered her head onto her paws. "Thank you, about my paw." She moved it and put it could so he could see it. "Some say it's a blessing," she started off with, and then mumbled the rest, "others, a curse." She paused for a minute and asked. "What do you think of it?" Eira backed up and made sure there was enough room for both. Her eyes appeared to turn blue, just blue. Instead of blue sky mixed with green grass. Her eyes started to water again and she tried to blink, but a tear started to roll down her face, and then another. Eira tried to move her head, but there was no room. So she had to face Caspian the whole time. She sniffed and tried to hold the tears back, so she moved her head forward, but he could still see her crying. "When you leave and go back into your pack, I wont be able to see you, or play with you like this, or anything. You're like my best friend."

As she turned to face him, he lowered his head to meet her gaze. He was trying to understand what was bothering her. He wanted her to feel happy, to feel okay once more. He didn't like seeing this bundle of happy fur so upset.
She moved back and he inched into the den. The setting sun highlighting his silvery blue and bright green fur. He watched her, eyes filled with compassion and worry.
"You are very welcome darling," he replies softly to her. He looked at her paw. His eyes fixed on it and he almost seemed to be reading it.
"This is far from a curse. It shows your strength. Your inner strength at that. It adds to your beauty. It makes you, you," he replies softly to her words about it. He looked back at her face as she spoke again.
"I think its a birthmark and nothing more. The Spirits have blessed you with added beauty," he replies with his view on her paw. He moved in to lay next to her. He would have fun getting back out of this den, and he knew it.
He leans in to lick her tears away as they fell. Her words hit him and he leaned back a tiny bit to look at her. "You are my best friend as well Eira. I won't just leave and never look back. I'll come see you. And you can come see me anytime. I'll play with you and see you as often as I can," he replies soothingly.
