Damn why did Loca have to go and say that? Altan never really had a feeling of guilt before, but then he'd never betrayed a promise before. No matter how bad he felt though, it had to be done. Their plans had been similar yes, but he had at least said goodbye before he disappeared. The bad feeling had slowed him slightly, but it hadn't stopped him. He had left it a little while, sure that Loca wouldn’t be following him before he began his search, it seemed like the most common place he would find the keiyou would be the den with his mate and newest pups. He hadn’t intended on seeing the new little bundles, but whilst he was here, perhaps just a peek before he left with Loca, somehow the bonding with her was already softening him towards his other siblings.
He was quiet in his movements, despite his usually loud personality, Altan had always been rather perfected in his steps, no matter what they were. He took pride in those abilities of his, always had done and once they had amused and gained him the praise of his elders. Not so much these days, he barely heard any such thing leaving their mouths, nothing. He had long ago decided that getting older wasn’t good, and it had nothing to do with Reynard’s deteriorating state, Altan still hadn’t dared to acknowledge that fact.
"Dad?" He quizzed, his voice quiet to try not be too much of a disturbance. He wasn’t quite sure when the name had gone from Uncle Rey to dad, but somehow it had happened, Nocht too had made the change, perhaps that had been part of it. "It’s Altan, I need to talk" Whether Reynard needed the confirmation of to which son was outside his den, Altan seriously doubted it. Either way, the words had left his mouth and the lyxxus, rather serious for once, stood and awaited the keiyou to step out and speak to him, or if not, a response from Satinka. One of them had to be in the den.

His little energy bundles seemed to always want him to play, and even when they napped he could not bring himself to fall in beside them. He felt he had to stay vigilante, despite the ludicrous notion of it. He had his pack to protect his little ones, however, he felt especially over protective. His newest clone of himself had opened her eyes like her sister, however no sight came from them. He had a blind puppy, and that made him desperate to keep her alive. He was glad that Kyita had taken to chaperoning her sightless sister around, a big task for a little pup, however he knew that they were both vulnerable. He had come in to allow his mate a break from the puppies, she needed fresh air. He knew that Kyita had ventured from the den already, so he assumed that they both had set paw into the warmth of the sun. Deep down he didn't want them to though, he wanted to keep them safe and sound in the den, so nothing could separate them.
His tall dark ears twitched when he heard a voice outside. He turned his scarred face to the entrance with a smile. Altan. The old male quietly lifted his thin body off the den floor and tried to creep out from his sleeping girls as quietly as he was able. His great feathered wings scraped softly against the earthen walls, but he suspected that it was not enough to wake them. He glanced over his shoulder for a moment before stepping out into the light to see his oldest son. His dark maw split in a grin when he got a look at the lyxxus. "Why so serious son? Coming to talk to your dad shouldn't be a burden now should it?" He gave a twinkling wink with his good eye to show his good-hearted nature in the jab.
Once clear of the den he shook out his red and black pelt to free it of dust and debris. He walked up to his son and gave him a loving nuzzle to greet him. He looked down at the lyxxus, always proud to see how much any of his brood had grown and matured. "Tell me what's on your mind, son". He sat down next to Altan, allowing him to speak freely.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/Altan5Mid.png]All this time, Altan had simply been convinced that he had to tell Reynard what was happening. He had a mission and he was on track to complete it. However, now that the welcoming form of his father had appeared, questioning him on what was up, the lyxxus wasn't really overly sure how to be the bearer of bad news. The little joke brought a small smile to his face, though it certainly wasn't enough to completely cheer up, not with the topic that was about to begin.
Still, he nuzzled the keiyou back in return to the greeting, a part of him longing once again to simply be a pup, being comforted by his father, confident that Reynard would fix whatever was wrong. Funnily enough though, in truth he'd needed to face an even bigger problem back then, what with his blood parents leaving he and Nocht in Reynard's care. As the keiyou sat, Altan took the invitation to do so as well, still conjuring the words in his mind.
"I'm not supposed to be here right now." He begun simply with a sigh, glancing to look up at Reynard. "I promised Loca I wouldn't tell you, so you can't let her know I was here." It seemed rather ironic really, here he was asking for a promise whilst in the process of breaking one. It certainly didn't shed any kind of light onto the situation for Reynard though. "Maybe it'd be best not to tell anyone else, apart from Satinka, I guess she could know too." He was starting to ramble in his search for a way to explain the situation, dealing with guilt so far wasn't something that Altan seemed to be good at.
Whilst right now it was a very uncomfortable situation, Altan would probably be embarrassed by his behaviour if he could see himself, so unsure of what to say, completely contrasting to his normal confident behaviour. At last though he managed to simply spit it out. "She's leaving, going off to explore, like I did. I think you telling her about that might have put the idea in her head." Ah yes, the other source of Altan's guilt. Had Loca never heard about his own adventures, would she have still thought of the plan? "She sort of wants you to worry and miss her, which is why you're not supposed to know any of this." And there it was, he had completely broken the promise Loca had asked of him.
"I'm going to go with her though, make sure she's ok and keep her out of danger." She was younger than he, and in their conversation certainly seemed more childlike too, it gave Altan the impression that she needed looking after. Hypocritical really, considering he had been a little younger when he went off.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png] He was not quite aware how awkward the situation was for his adoptive son, however it slowly started to dawn on him as the male began to speak. They kept their seats so it was casual and conversational, however his brow knitted slightly at the as first sentence of explanation came to pass. 'Not supposed to be here?' The phrase in itself was odd. Of course he was supposed to be here, this was his home, his family was here. However the mention of Loca, got his ears to swivel to attention very quickly.
His willful daughter was a pawful to be sure, however keeping secrets from her seemed to be a way to get even more on her bad side. She still had not forgiven them for having another litter. Not that she had a say in it in the end, but the fact was there. She held a grudge like a snake held it's meal. He tilted his head, slightly confused as to what was going on. He remained silent though, allowing Altan a chance to get it all out there.
Leaving? His little daughter was leaving? He supposed she was not so little anymore, but the idea stung him a little. Had he really put the idea in her head? He supposed he may have mentioned that Altan wandered off when he was younger, but Reynard really did not have any warning of that, his son just up and left. A slight frown creased his graying maw, now giving him an equally serious look. Females should not go wandering alone....especially his daughters. His heart sank slightly as he glanced over his shoulder to where the newest daughters were napping. It did not seem that long ago that Loca had been just as small and helpless.
Now was the time for him to speak,, in defense of his parenting that Loca seemed so oblivious too, "Of course I will worry about her. Does she think me to be so heartless that I would forget her if she wandered away? Or that having a new litter means I don't love her?" A shadow of anger crossed his face, he quickly tried to suppress it though, it wasn't Altan's fault. Well, maybe somehow it was. However he was the responsible one that blabbed about the journey Altan had made. Who knew giving the family information about one another could backfire? The reality was that he had no one else to blame but himself....and maybe Loca, but she was still a child.
He looked at his eldest son, "You better not let her out of your sight Altan...I know you can take care of yourself, but she is still green to the ways of the world." His tail lashed as he realized how helpless he was in this situation. Somehow knowing the information was more painful than the worry, if the two of them were just to up and leave without a word. However he realized that he would probably thank Altan for this later, even if he was reluctant to do so. "She's one of my girls, I don't want her hurt...even if she thinks otherwise." Out of his six daughters, she most certainly was the most trouble. He lifted a hind leg to scratch at his side awkwardly. He wasn't sure what to say about all this.
He looked up at the sky, he was getting on in years he knew, he was also slowly realizing that there was no way to keep all his children close. He knew that the two newest girls would soon be grown and wanting to explore their world, even if it took them outside of the packlands. It seemed to be a theme....pups grow and leave...some come back, but not as pups anymore.

It was then once the news finally began to come out that the keiyou interrupted, having his say in the matter. That momentary glimpse of anger from Reynard was an emotion Altan could safely and thankfully say he barely saw from his father and he had never actually been on the end of either. Right now however, although the words were simply stating a fact around Altan rather than at him, the lyxxus still felt a little pain. It was a more sympathetic feeling though, rather than the sting from Reynard's words.
"I think it's the latter that's a bit of a problem." Altan stated quietly, this certainly was one of the worst conversations he'd had, perhaps only rivaled by the return of his mother. She'd turned up expecting to make things alright again whereas Nocht had simply sworn at her, he personally had felt nothing aside from wanting to try fix his brother's mood. That thought put things into light, this one was worse. "I guess she's just feeling a little left out." He'd felt the same way really, though never spoke about that jealousy, nor taken it quite so badly really. Instead though here he was explaining the entire plan near enough, if Loca ever found out Altan doubted she would forgive him, those comments of bravery and heroism would probably be replaced by negative ones.
Had he known Reynard's thoughts, Altan probably would have quickly argued against them. This certainly wasn't his fault, probably more Altan's in some way simply for having ever left in the first place and actually managing to set an example for his younger siblings. In his own defence though he had tried to highlight the negative points of the traveling it seemed that the young female had made up her mind very early on in that conversation.
Altan himself still hadn't realised the hypocritical attitude he had towards the situation and not wanting to let Loca go alone and fortunately in some ways it seemed that Reynard hadn't either. Perhaps if one of them did the situation could be eased slightly; Altan had been alone and made it back perfectly fine, Loca was going to have company, she stood more chance that that foolish young lyxxus had. Reynard did seem to recognise the fact that Altan was at least responsible enough to care for himself, at three years old (I think?), he certainly wasn't a pup anymore and although he still wanted his father around, didn't really need him.
"I know." Altan simply nodded his head in confirmation, he had absorbed the information. "I don't want to see her getting hurt either. That's why I couldn't let her go alone." He had to keep her safe for Reynard, he couldn't let his father down, and truth be told, although he had no real bond with his little sister just yet, he still couldn't help but feel a little responsible for her plan.
"She trusted me with her plan, no one else can really go. She asked me questions about my travel and then just announced she wanted to go too. I couldn't talk her out of it, offering to go was the only other thing I could think of." For a wolf that loved attention, Altan wasn't really overly expressive when it came to emotions, especially not fear. Before he'd simply felt worried to share the plan, felt bad for going behind Loca's back, but now combined with that was the fear that something might happen to her, that he might let Reynard down.

His age was beginning to show in his scarred face as he spoke in an almost defeated tone, "I'm getting old Altan...We did not have time to ask the rest of the family permission to mate. I might not be here in the next few years, Tinka and I just want to be sure that the pack and the lives of the family are secure. More pups is a way to guarantee that. You know how important family is to pack life. We might not be able to have another litter..." He glanced away, he was light about his age at times, but deep down he hated it. His tail lashed slightly in embarrassment. "I don't know how to make her understand."
It was odd confiding in his eldest son, the fact was he did not want to burden the young male with the worries of an old man. "Altan, you know what it is like to lose a sibling. I know you were young when it happened, but even as a pup there was grief on your face when it came to light." He paused, wondering if he was taking his worries too far, "I don't want any of you to have to endure that again. Please be careful out there. I'm pretty sure nothing I can do can convince her to stay....young wolves need to get out and explore, as much as I hate to admit it."
His ear twitched slightly as he heard movement from the den behind him. Were the girls stirring? He turned his head briefly, then back to Altan. "Loca is willful and hard headed....I truly hope you can keep her in line when it is necessary. I wouldn't have her be any different, I just want her to learn what it is like to have a more open mind about certain things." He started to hear muffled whimpers and plaintive cries from at least one of the girls. The noise was enough to rouse him to his feet.
"Seems the little ones are waking up...." He stopped, realizing that Altan had yet to meet them. He gave a slight grin, "Would you like to meet them?" He wondered if he should explain that one of them was blind. It was something he wanted to keep hidden from his pack for as long as possible, lest they think him infirm in his old age.
((I can bring Kyita out if he would like to meet one of them. Up to you though ))

For starters, he certainly didn't need permission to mate, he was an adult and not just any adult but the High Chief. Besides, he had never sought permission from existing family before, why should he have felt the need to start this time? As for the age, ok the keiyou wasn't in such a good state as he once was, but Altan's mind refused to believe it. Old, little time left? Even with the serious facts being told right too him, the young lyxxus didn't ever want to imagine a day without his father there. 'You can't leave!' His mind cried out, no matter how childish and naive the thought may have been. He kept quiet though, about that point anyway.
"You really don't need the permission. You never asked last time." Altan pointed out to him, there were numerous things to note about the previous litters though, no one had really been in the right mind to think things through, proven by the fact that two litters had been born. "Maybe with a bit of time she'll realise on her own." Of course that there was the main issue to begin with, time wasn't something Reynard really had. The sooner the family was patched back together the better.
Altan often tried not to think about his second brother, in Aurora's absence the smallest of the three boys had certainly suffered due to her neglect. Memories were a little fuzzy from that first year, but he could still vaguely recall attempting to wake him up, though nothing he and Nocht tried had worked, then of course he had been confused but Reynard was right, the loss had still hurt. It would probably hurt even more now, even if he wasn't as close to his newer siblings as he was to Nocht and could have been with his other brother. Whether he was close to Loca or not though, he certainly didn't want to see anyone else enduring the pain, certainly not Reynard either.
Reynard hopefully wouldn't set off to try talk Loca out of it, she would know then that he had told on her. Still worried about those positive comments he received from his little sister being replaced by negative ones he nearly pleaded with Reynard once again not to say anything. He continued though, and it seemed that he was admitting defeat. "You can't try, I doubt I would be forgiven easily." He chose to remind his father just to be on the safe side.
"Not that there would be much time either. Tomorrow morning is the time she wants to leave, well actually she wanted earlier. I thought it would be better to rest first, and I couldn't leave without saying anything." He realised then that he had failed to mention how soon they would be setting off, perhaps it was for the best that he had allowed Reynard to calm before slipping in the information though, he may have acted too quickly and set off to find her before anything else could have been explained. There were the two new pups to watch though, surely Reynard wouldn't have simply left Altan to watch them. He was a talented wolf in several areas sure, but pup-sitting wasn't anything he'd ever done.
"Maybe getting out might help her grow up a little then." He tried to sound hopeful about it. "And she did listen to me before, about changing when we left..." More reassurance but now Altan wasn't really sure who he was trying to convince.
The stirring from the pups continued and as Reynard rose it seemed that he was being called now. Altan could of course hear they were waking, though their father still confirmed that fact all the same. So did this mean their conversation had now reached it's point for an abrupt ending, had the keiyou simply continued without his following question, Altan would have likely felt a familiar little pang of jealousy, believing for a moment that Reynard would simply end the conversation like that and leave him to head off on that journey without any goodbye at the very least. The question fortunately came in time for those emotions to never start forming though.
"Can I?" Timid wasn't exactly an word commonly assigned to Altan's description, but right now slightly hesitant in rising and taking one small step forwards, it seemed a little more fitting a description, these certainly weren't his usual confident movements. He was here, he might as well say hello to his newest sisters before leaving.

The reassurance was appreciated, however he knew that Satinka would take this all quite differently. He felt it best not to tell her about the situation until the kids had gone off. However he turned back in surprise at the mention of how early they would be leaving, "Tomorrow? So soon...." He gave a soft whine, but attempted to hide it, "I guess that gives me no time to think of some marvelous plan to keep you both stuck to my side till you are as old as me." He tried to give a smile to make light of things, though he did want them to stay he knew that he could not make them. If anything that would make Loca hate him and Satinka even more than she already did.
"I trust you Altan." His voice was quieter now, so his little ones did not over hear. "This is probably the best thing for her right now." With that he considered the matter closed. He did not like grim or saddening subjects, so he moved toward the mouth of the den to listen. Yes at least one of them was awake, most likely Kyita.
His ears twitched in response to the question, Altan's voice was sweet to his ears as the younger male inched closer. "Of course you can met them, you are their big brother after all." He smiled and turned to poke his head into the den. He sniffed around and let his eye adjust to the dimness. He looked over his shoulder and gestured for Altan to come closer.
Turning back he spoke softly, "Kyita....Malaika, are you awake sweetlings? Come on out, someone wants to meet you." Having summoned the girls he stepped back to allow them a chance to fumble out of the chamber. He gave a smile to his son and waited for the girls.

Sleep, eat, play, sleep, play eat, explore and nap. Napping had come easily this afternoon, Daddy had played with Kyita and Malaika this morning while Mommy was off. The little gray pup kicked in her sleep as she chased a rabbit in her dreams, small yips emitted from her tiny maw. Her ears twitched when she felt movement in reality, was there really a rabbit? Her pale blue eyes fluttered open as she watched the great winged wolf that was her father pad out of the den. Before she could object, she was back into a light sleep, hearing low voices outside the den. Having little concept of time, she roused a little while later and flipped back over onto her belly with a small yawn. She opened her gray wings and flapped them to help her stand up on wobbly limbs.
"Mala?" She pushed gently on her smaller sister, wanting to play some more. She whined softly and nipped her floppy ear, tugging lightly. She knew something was different about her sister, Kyita would attempt to talk about things she saw and Malaika could not see them. Her concept of sightless was slowly dawning the older she got, but as things were now it was hard to pinpoint. She pouted at her sleeping sister and sat back, whining. Her tiny ears twitched again as the voices outside came closer. Daddy! He would play with her! When his voice beckoned, she ran toward the mouth of the den, listing a little sideways as the weight of her wings threatened to topple her. "Daddy!" she yipped as she slowed to keep from colliding into his dark legs. She reared up on her hind paws in an attempt to lick under his chin.
She noticed another wolf nearby, he did not have wings like her parents, blood siblings and half sister Angel. But he was orangey like her father and brother. She settled back on all fours and looked curiously at him. She looked up at her father for guidance before wriggling through his long black legs to stand safely under his hind-section. She peaked out from her father's tail at the wolf with......three tails?? Her eyes widened, forgetting her shyness she stepped forward out from under her father's shadow. She looked at her own thin tail, as well as her fathers, then wandered toward Altan. She sat in front of him and spoke in broken puppyish, "You gots tail. Three?" Counting was new to her, she wanted to make sure she got it right. "Where did wings go?" She had not really met more than her immediate family, yet. Her adoptive brothers had not visited her since she could see and riddle out individuals. She stood up in anticipation of the lyxxus' answer, waiting for world explanations from the obviously scholarly adult. All adults knew more than her, so she expected to be informed.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/Altan5Mid.png]There were more jokes on the topic, though Altan had now seen the truth, he didn't need to be excellent at reading emotions to know that his father was upset and hurt by this turn of events. A little guiltily, he hoped that Reynard hadn't felt such pain when he had set off on his own travels. He had at least said goodbye though, something that Loca didn't feel was necessary. "I guess that leaves me to try come up with some marvelous plan to help you out with yours." He stated, trying to put on a small smile of his own and simply hoping he could do just that. He certainly couldn't suddenly leave Loca, not after promising to look after her, but he really wanted the pair of them to return home swiftly.
Those four words that Reynard spoke next were a big boost for Altan. His ego of course loved all kinds of similar comments, but this entire situation was different. His usual pride swelled at the words, but he also felt a little more emotional too. His father had after all spoken the words, and that meant far more to him. The entire conversation was possibly just taking effect, but he didn't feel quite as smug.
Another little smile came to the lyxxus as the conversation shifted, it came easily, far more natural though and he followed his father a little closer to the den, bright blue eyes peering inside for a glimpse of his newest siblings. Now that he was starting to live up to that big brother role, he was certainly a little disappointed that he would have to be leaving, missing out on the chance to be a better brother to these two but first he had to be a good brother to Loca. Saying he had to stay for their sister's would certainly only make the situation worse.
The grey pup tumbled forwards in a similar manner that Altan had likely done every time Reynard had paid a visit to the den. Of course back then it had been a joyful greeting of 'Uncle Rey' as opposed to that title of daddy he had always rightfully deserved. Of course he couldn't quite remember such memories to make the comparison, though it still brought a small smile to his face.
Then suddenly the pup went quiet as she noticed Altan standing nearby. Cautiously she peered up at him, and Altan simply stood still now, not really quite sure what to do or say. Briefly he glanced up to Reynard, but in that moment, Kyita suddenly moved again, rushing forwards to speak to him. Quickly his attention moved back to her.
At the amazement of his tails, Altan simply smiled and turned slightly, wagging them for her to get a better look at. "Yes, I have three tails." He confirmed for her. Odd really that he and Nocht had never questioned the splitting of their tails, though they were two when it had happened of course, older and had been around more lyxxus by that point too. The lack of wings, well Altan had long since realised no matter how much he wished, he wasn't going to suddenly sprout a pair and fly off after Reynard, though the lack of them was obviously rather strange for the keiyou pup.
"I don't have any." He stated wondering how much detail he ought to go into. "Not all wolves do." He settled on, keeping it as simple as possible. "Some have more tails like me, some have horns, some have pretty flowers growing on their backs, and there are lots of different things." Hopefully that wouldn't provoke too much confusion for her.

Reynard gave his son a slight smirk at the comment. It was a feeble attempt to lighten the matter at hand, but Reynard already knew there was nothing he could do to deter Loca. As long as Altan stayed with her, he hoped he had little to fear. He appreciated the sentiments, and was ready to push the matter to a happier note.
As Kyita stumbled out of the den, Reynard's heart swelled. He gave her an affectionate nuzzle before letting her figure out the company on her own. He watched her move under his body, once she was clear he turned and sat the watch the magic happen. He loved being a father, it was something he had never really considered until he was almost past his prime. Now he had a number of litters, as well as a number of loving and gifted children.
Kyita's whip like tail waggled as Altan began to speak with her. He knew so much! He did not have wings....that was odd, other wolves did not have wings too. She could understand that now that she saw him. As he went on about some wolves with flowers on them she paused, confused. She looked back at her father, eyes narrowed slightly in question, wanting to confirm this new evidence of the world beyond her whelping den. Reynard chuckled slightly and nodded to her in affirmation.
Her blue eyes widened in amazement as she looked back over to Altan, "Weally?" She sat down on her rump as the astonishment overtook her. The break made her remember her manners, well at least the lessons from this week. She was meeting someone new, she had to introduce herself, "I'm Kyita! Weynard is my daddy!" R's were hard for the little one, but she was not deterred from making her parents proud. She had no idea that the lyxxus before her was considered her brother, perhaps there were more amazing things for her to come upon this day.
Reynard gave a soft chuckle as he watched the exchange between the two. He would let Altan explain their relationship, partly because he felt the process would be amusing to witness.

With no potential mate even anywhere in sight it was a long way regardless of his attitude, even though he had certainly reached an age where pups were possible. Although he had barely knew them, or their pups either for that matter, Altan guessed that Seth and Kasimira were only a little older than himself. He still had plenty of time though and until then had little siblings to look out for.
Keeping his attention of Kyita for now, he didn't really notice Reynard sitting back and watching the two until he followed the grey pup's gaze flick towards their father for a moment, astonished by Altan's stories and quite unable to believe that this could be true. He couldn't really blame her, it had probably been a shock for he and many other wolves too. A small smile remained fixed upon his muzzle as he watched her, switch her gaze back to him still in shock at the new knowledge. He had taught her something already, and the lyxxus couldn't help but feel a little smug about that fact.
"Yeah, I'm sure you'll get to meet some one day and see for yourself." Such differences didn't need to be seen through leaving the lands as Loca was doing though, the Children had certainly grown in size over the past few years and their was a variation in the species that resided in the valley. She was still young now, but at some point the time for her to join the rest of the pack would come in time.
He chuckled lightly at her introduction, not really at her speech difficultly but simply at their father being called 'Weynard'. Altan still had some growing up to do really, though his maturity had taken a huge leap in the past few hours, agreeing to leave to watch out for Loca and now sat here meeting his newest little siblings, something he hadn't planned on doing for a while yet. "I'm Altan." No Rs there, perhaps an easier name for her to manage. "I know, Reynard it my daddy too." Shocked at himself for having just used the 'word' daddy, something he assumed he wouldn't live down for a little while. It was for Kyita's sake though, and he was explaining things as she had.
Of course he probably had just made things very confusing for the little pup. If Reynard was Altan's dad, why were they so different in appearances. Yes the reddish colour of their fur was similar, though aside from that there wasn't really anyway at all that they would be able to pass as true father and son. He wasn't actually sure how he even ought to begin explaining such a complication to her, though hopefully she wouldn't ask.

m a l a i k a . Malaika must be so excited after playing with her father and Kyita because she couldn't sleep. She had tried shut her eyes tightly, covering her head with her dainty paws, and even cuddling up close to her sister. But sleep never came. Pouting, she squirmed to get more comfortable. Perhaps if she was more comfortable sleep would come to her? She rolled onto her back with a tiny grunt and had her tail curled around her body and wings spread wide beneath her. Not very comfortable, squashing her wings, but it would do for now. Slowly Malaika allowed her head to tilt sideways so that her cheek was against the ground. Then she squeezed her eyelids together tightly and waited impatiently for sleep to come. Oh, this was hard! She felt like getting up and go to her Mummy to complain. But her determination forced her to remain in the same place.
Suddenly Malaika felt a rough kick to her shoulder and she blinked. Her common sense told her that it must be Kyita dreaming and kicking Malaika in her sleep. Annoyed, she turned to her belly and laid her head on her paws. Slowly sleep finally overwhelmed her and in the end, there was a happy smile upon Malaika's lips as she slept. It felt like only seconds had passed before she was pushed awoke and faintly heard her name being called out in the dark. It must be Kyita wanting to play. Well, Malaika wasn't in the mood to play, so she huffed and turned around, deliberately ignoring her sister. Her eyelids drooped but she didn't feel sleepy anymore.
Another call from her sister reached Malaika's ears; "Daddy!" The orange pup raised her head, ears angled towards Kyita's direction. Daddy was back? Throughout her sleeplessness she had been faintly aware of him leaving their den. Sure enough both of her father and sister's scents came to her along with a strange new scent. Curious, she pushed herself to her paws and she spread her wings slightly to feel her way out of the den. True, she had entered and exited the same den enough times for her to know it by heart, but this was a habit she had, and she found it quite useful sometimes. After all you never know when there was someone sleeping at the den entrance. Malaika felt her way out of the den and her wings searched for the familiar presence of Kyita. When she felt her feathers brushing against a pelt with her scent on it, she inched closer to her.
Before Malaika moved to Kyita's side, she heard her saying that the stranger had three tails instead of two wings. The stranger answered her saying some wolves had different things. Like... flowers growing on their backs? She wrinkled her nose and decided to ask Kyita later to describe her what flowers were. All she knew about them was that they smell nice and felt smooth. Her thoughts were distracted by the stranger introducing himself. "Hello," Her voice was shy but squeaky, "Altan." She plastered on a huge innocent smile on her face, "I'm Malaika and I'm your sister!" She had neither met nor heard of Altan before so her new brother interested her hugely. She thought she only had two brothers and three sisters. Her tail wagged frantically at the thought of having a new brother.

Now she had three that she knew about, would the days wonders never end? "Bwother? YAY!" She leaped up in the air, flapping her wings in jubilation. Having a big family was SO fun! She hit the ground and tumbled to her belly. She was not the most graceful of pups.
Reynard laughed at Kyita's excitement, and then tutted slightly at her stumble, "Careful my sweet-ling." While Kyita attempted to gather herself, Reynard noticed Malaika emerge from the den. His heart always swelled when his little trooper came out of the den. Her ears had not perked up and her sight had never come to her. Being half-blind himself he felt a certain attachment to her that he knew would never go away. It also made her overly cautious about her venturing out alone. He gently nudged her toward her siblings, pointing her in the right direction, though it seemed he never really needed to.
Kyita had finally found her feet. She stood and turned at her father's voice. A big grin crossed her face when she saw her sister totting toward them. She moved to close the gap, ducking under one of her wings to act as a crutch for her blind sister. She had taken it upon herself to help out her sister as much as she could. She giggled when Mala introduced herself. "We're your wittle sister's too! Will you play wiff us?" Her thin tail began lashing in excitement. She had no idea what the two males had been talking about only moments before.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/Altan5Mid.png]Fortunately for Altan, he had to offer no further explanation of the complicated family situation that they had, although of course Altan had never thought of it really as being complicated, Reynard was the only one he would call father and that automatically made the other nine wolves that did the same his brothers and sisters, related or not. They all seemed to accept the strange situation, well from what Altan could tell but then he still hadn't really ever spoken to Blaisen, Halycon, Alla or Naomi, he hadn't even said a word to Angel or seen her for a long time now.
He smiled at Kyita's excitement, and couldn't help but wonder if he too would have had such excitement of new siblings had he not been part of the eldest bunch. If another litter had been around would he have automatically been dragged into their excitement when the new litters came along? It was hard to tell, especially when Loca was displaying anything but excitement. Altan supposed that question would forever remained unanswered, there was no way to know.
The pup tumbled over in her excitement and as Reynard cautioned her to be more careful, someone should teach her to become a bit more balanced, the lyxxus thought he himself would surely make a great teacher for that. Of course never having taught someone a single thing that perhaps wasn't really the case, though Altan had always been quite the graceful one, even for a lyxxus his athletic skills were something to be admired, or so he had always thought.
He of course wouldn't be there for such use though, not when Loca needed him instead. Kyita and her sister would surely get a lot of help from the rest of the pack though, if Altan didn't go with Loca, then who would she have to look out for her? No one. Before any emotions or thoughts could really be shown on Altan's face from realising these facts, his mind was interrupted by the second pup rising and carefully making her way out to join Kyita.
A smile formed on her face as she gave a squeaky little greeting to him and then introduced herself. Apparently she had heard Altan explaining everything from his name to the fact that Reynard was his father too, stating that she was his sister. "Hello Malaika." He greeted her in return.
Soon Kyita was speaking again, repeating a fact that had been mentioned several times now, Kyita and Malaika were his little sisters, though luckily, for Altan had no idea what he would have said in return, more conversation followed with Kyita requesting him to play with them. That momentarily took him by surprise and he thought about it for a moment. He didn't have long left now, he still had to find Nocht and say goodbye and then get some rest for the trip. Still, he couldn't say no could he? They wanted to play with him, and he'd be leaving these two behind and who knew when he'd be back, they probably wouldn't want to wait to play all that time. "I guess I can play for a little while."
