The fiery she-wolf lifted her nose to the air, taking in the dry air of the Dteria Plains. The sweet smell of wildflowers mixed with the dusty odor of shrubs entered her nose. Lash had never ventured into the plains before causing the strong mixture of scents to hit her like a charging dragon. It seemed like her paws were frozen to the ground, that her whole body was frozen in time.
Movement to her left caught her eye, thawing her. She tilted her head just enough to get a good focus on whatever had moved. A smile formed across her face when she spotted the recognizable stubs of a young jackalope. Even though she had just feasted, Lash wasn’t about to walk away from a potential snack. Living the life of a loner and its advantages and disadvantages and not know when your next meal was the latter.
It didn’t take long for her to get noticed by the jacklope. With a leap and a bound, the small creature was a good ways away from Lash. She cursed her coloring, for that was the main reason she was probably spotted, and took off after the horned mammal. At first, the jackalope kept going straight but without a warning, began to take sharp turns nearly running straight to where it first was.
Lash had trouble keeping up with it, especially when it decided to take a turn. Though agile, she can’t turn sharply unless she is able to predict its next move and, so far, every turn it takes seems spontaneous. There might be some knowledge to it though she doubted it. After all, it was just a dumb jackalope.
Her legs seemed heavy with fatigue even though the chase had just started. She slowed down to a halt and watched the prey run to the safety of a burrow. Tired and out of breath, Lash laid down on the dry grass. Surprisingly it wasn’t that uncomfortable like she though it would be. She rested her head on her front paws and closed her eyes but kept her ears perked up and alert. She knew that griffins and dragons were known to walk these plains and to fall asleep alone would be a death sentence.

Keely trotted happily through the recovering grass. It seemed that winter had finally released it's hold on certain places. The very small lyxxus moved relatively easily through the plains. Her bright yellow pelt melded nicely with the not quite green of the grasses. Her large purple eyes gleamed with sheer joy.
She was a runt, but she seemed to make up for it with her spirit. She leaped up onto an old dead stump and gazed out over the landscape. She liked it here, she could smell prey nearby, but she could not see anything. She was about to wander around stealthily and hope to bump into something, but her eyes caught something else.
A bit in the distance she saw another lyxxus laid in the grasses. Her curiosity naturally lead her to romp in that direction. Her two tails flowing happily behind her like banners in a parade. She decided it was not smart to sneak up on a sleeping someone, so she called out when she was closer, "Hello there! What are you doing sleeping out in the open?"

“Hello there!…” The voice penetrated her mind and thoughts. Habitually, Lash tilted her ears towards the voice. “…What are you doing sleeping out in the open?” Her eyes open, squinting as she did; the bright sunlight nearly blinded her. She looked towards the burrow the jackalope sought refuge in. Hopefully, it was still hiding in there and hadn’t snuck past her unnoticed while she rested.
Lash stood up as slowly and quietly as she could and looked around her. To her surprise, a few lengths away from her stood a rather small lyxxus. Its pelt was a bright yellow with hints of orange, reminding Lash of spring-time flowers. “Ugh,” she thought to herself, “a female.” She was too worn out at that moment to actually care about expressing her annoyance to the small she-wolf, so she just forced a smile.
“Actually I wasn’t sleeping,” Lash replied. “I was resting up for whenever that jackalope came back out,” she said as she motioned towards the burrow. “Plus, anyone who has common sense would know that sleeping out in the open would be an idiot thing to do even if the area was clear of any dragons and the like. But of course, you weren’t calling an idiot, were you?“ A smirked formed across her face as her annoyance naturally reared its head through her words.

ooc: AYIIEEE!!! I'm SO sorry, I never saw that you posted. Hopefully you are still interested in this thread. *hangs head in shame*
Keely pranced to the other female and sat down near her, tails wagging as she watched Lash. She loved meeting new wolves, and she was a bit naive so probably wound not notice if there were negative feelings lurking.
"Oooo! A jackalope! Those are tasty and fun to chase. I'll help you watch for him!" She did a crisp right face while remaining seated and stared with purpose at the burrow. Helping was fun! Her ears flickered as the female spoke again.
"Oh phew!" She sighed with relief, relaxing her all important gaze to look over at Lash with a smile. "I didn't know that you knew about the dragons. You are smart!" Lash's sarcasm went straight over her tiny head. Things like that tended to allude the dense little female.
Suddenly, she realized that she had yet to share her name with this lyxxus, how rude of her! She had to fix it! "I'm Keely! Are you from here? We just moved here not too long ago, so we don't know all the wolves in the area. But we started a pack! You could join!" Her words burst forth from her maw like an exploding dam. She was so energetic and excited to meet another.

ooc : Oh it's okay! I'm a patient person, so that's why I didn't pester you whenever you came on.
The female's friendliness caught her off guard. Was she that oblivious to notice Lash's rudeness? Or was she just that friendly? Either way, that took the fun out of her annoyance. "Why even bother?" Lash rolled her eyes and watched the small wolf as she plopped right beside her.
"Yeah, I guess they can be fun to chase...but sometimes I just get so angry at them," she replied, "especially when they decide to use their horns." Lash looked back at the burrow hoping to see some sign of life. "Still nothing," she thought.
"I didn't know that you knew about the dragons. You are smart!" She glanced back at the lyxxus and smiled, "Well, let's just say I've seen my share of the world." For once, it felt like, maybe just maybe, Lash could befriend this wolf.
"Keely, that's a name I've never heard of," she said. "Well I guess I might as well tell her my name, I mean, she did tell me hers..." "Well, my name's Lash." She flashed a smile before checking the burrow again. "...we don't know all the wolves in the area. But we started a pack! You could join!" "A pack, huh? Sure," she answered, "I'd be glad to be part of a pack again." Lash wasn't all that sure about agreeing to join the pack, partly due to her old pack.

She listened intently to the words of the other, tails still wagging in a friendly manner. "I think they are cute, but those horns do hurt sometimes." She nodded seriously, though she still had a smile on her face. She had been poked at least once my a jackalope.
She looked at Lash with awe when she said that she had seen her share of the world. She patiently waited until she finished giving her name before speaking."Wow....What have you seen, Lash?" She also looked at the burrow, trying to be as much as a helper as her attention span would allow.
She perked up really quick once Lash offered to join the pack, "Really!! That's be great! you can meet Fyodor and he can give you a rank and we can all be friends!" She sat up straight and recited something that she had hear Fyodor say once, "I am the Lead Consul of the Romneya Republic, I hereby accept you into the pack!" She gave a brilliant smile, happy that she remembered what to say. In her opinion she said it very well, even though she was biased. She looked proudly at Lash, hopeing for a reaction or praise for a job well done.

"Cute? No, cute is puppies. Those are just evil little furballs." It's pretty much a given that you'll be stabbed by one of those little devils, especially if you have to depend solely on them for survival like Lash had. Though she couldn’t say she loathed them for being gifted with sharp antlers. In fact, it gave her something to look forward to when ever she crossed paths with a jackalope.
“What have I seen? Well my old pack was in the prairie, and from there I just wondered around. I think I went as far as the Mountains but I left that place as soon as I got there. If you can’t tell, I was not built for the cold. And I’m guessing you haven’t seen much beyond the plains?”
"Really!! That's be great! you can meet Fyodor and he can give you a rank and we can all be friends!" “Fyodor? Who names their pup that?” She looked back the burrow quickly before looking back at Keely. “So I’m guess this Fyodor you spoke of is the leader, correct?” Barely a second went by before Keely spoke again. Lash was relieved that she was once again part of pack. She stood up and did a small bow to her as a thank you before sitting back down. “I feel like I owe you something bigger than a simple bow. But I must ask, what is a Lead Consul? Is it the same as a leader? I apologize if I come of as unintelligent right now, my old pack was called the leader King and his mate the Queen.”

She listened intently to the words that were shared with her. Her smile never left her face, "My family was in the forest when I was with them. But I moved and wandered around the prairie and now here" She had not seen the mountains, aside what she had perceived to be mountains in a distant horizon in some places. "I don't like cold, it makes me shiver." She was worse off in the cold than most lyxxus.
Her ears perked up at Fyodor's name. She always got butterflies in her stomach when he was mentioned, not to mention a slight blush across her nose. "Yes, we voted for Fyodor as leader." When she was asked about the Lead Consul, she felt better that she was not the only one that had been confused about it.
"Don't worry, I didn't know what it was either until Fyodor explained. He came from a de-mock-racy" she had to sound it out, she had trouble with some of the words Fyodor used. "And they voted for leaders every year, so my cousins and I voted for him, and then they made me on the consul as well because more than one needs to rule."
She paused, trying to remember what else Fyodor had told her. "Um...there can be more in the Consul, but right now it is just he and I because we are a small pack. Once he gets to know you, you get a higher rank. But I think he said that everyone starts out as a ....pleebz?" She tried to remember if that was the way Fyodor had told her. That day was still a bit of a blur though, the day he explains a lot of it was the day he asked her to be his mate.
Ooc: I changed the time setting a little to better fit the rp, considering this started before he actually asked her. But for clarification sake, I set it to after if that is alright with you?

"I don't see how anyone could live in the forest. It's bit too confined for my liking," Lash replied. "And judging by your size, you probably wouldn't last a day by yourself in the cold. I, myself, barely got past a week." "Yes, we voted for Fyodor as leader." "Vote?" Voting was unheard of in her old pack. No one was voted into a rank. You had to earn it through loyalty or through force.
"A democracy? So, do you vote wolves for every rank? Or just the high ones?" Lash knew that trying to understand this new way of pack hierarchy would prove to be a challenge. Her mind was jumbled by her lack of understanding democracy and she had a great feeling that her face mirrored her confusion.
"...but right now it is just he and I because we are a small pack..." She felt way more relieved to hear it was small. It would be easier for her to be welcomed in as a pack member, she believed. Plus it would give her a better chance at befriending the other members. "...But I think he said that everyone starts out as a ....pleebz?" All this fancy terminology seemed far more complicated to remember now than the concept of democracy. "What is a pleeb? Is it like the commoners or newcomers?" If she was able to know a link between her old pack ranks and her new pack ranks, it would be easier for her to understand it.
ooc : It's perfectly fine!

She smiled brightly at the comments about the forest, "Oh it was fun, lots of games of hide-and-hunt and tree chase." She nodded again, reiterating that she did not like cold weather. She peered toward the burrow, hoping to see antlers poke up.
"Um....I don't think we vote for every rank. I think we only vote for the consul. My cousins kind of just got a higher ranks because they helped form the pack." She thought that was the correct answer. It seemed that there was so much she needed to talk to Fyodor about. She had assumed that Fyodor would be with her in accepting new members. Keely would have to pay more attention to the ranking system.
"Oh a pleb is a newcomer for new wolves and a commoner for the young ones growing up in the pack. You know, until they find a rank suitable for them? Babies are Ifanes." She smiled proudly at that one, of course she remembered babies. She hoped to have lots of them with Fyodor soon. The thought of motherhood made her glow.
She looked over the horizon, keeping an eye for prey and danger. Her tails quivered and flickered. She liked that she got a new member for the pack. It made her feel accomplished and she could not wait to inform Fyodor.

ooc : This post isn't as good as the one I had before. My computer froze and I lost it.
"I guess there are some good things about living in a forest, but there are plenty of places for enemies to sneak up on you. It's far less easy out in the open than it is in an area like that," she said. “Let me see if I understand this system of democracy. The whole pack gets together and votes on who is going to be the new leader of the pack, right? And what if they want to stick with the old leaders because they do not trust anyone else?”
Lash paused to catch her breath. She wasn’t the type to drown others in a flood of questions, but she felt that she would fit in better if she was equipped with some information on the pack. “Infanes? Do all the ranks have weird names? I mean, I’m complaining but I’ve just heard of most of those words. Speaking of pups, do you have any of your ow-” She abruptly stopped mid sentence and looked around. “I swear I just heard something…”
She looked back at Keely to see if she had heard anything. “That’s right, the jackalope…” Lash peered at the burrow. Sure enough, the tips of its antlers was poking up out of the hole. Lash silently watched as, inch by inch, more and more of its head began to emerge from the hole. She looked back towards Keely, hoping the small lyxxus noticed the jackalope and wouldn’t accidently scare it back into its hole.

Keely blinked a few times at Lash's bombardment of questions and dialogue. She was still new to this whole democracy thing too. "Um.....yes? I...I think so?" Her brows furrowed slightly, she was about to confuse herself again. She looked at Lash, also thankful for the little break in words. "Um..we are still small, so we are all learning about the system together." She gave a happy smile, letting her know that she was not alone in her confusion.
Her ears flickered happily at the word 'infanes', it was music to her ears. "There are a lot of funny names, but it is ok. We can talk to Fyodor and he will help you understand more. He explains it better anyway" She had grown so accustomed to Fyodor's stutter that she did not think to mention it. In her mind she could understand him as clear as day. She beamed again at the last question, but it was cut short, so she was confused again.
She followed the gaze of the other female. She saw the antlers too and she crouched low to prevent it from seeing her. She would wait for Lash to make the first move.

Lash could tell that Keely wasn’t the best wolf to ask about the pack. She seemed just as lost as Lash did. More and more questions filled her mind though she would have to wait until she met the leader of the pack, whenever that may be. But right now, she had other business to attend to.
She positioned herself low to the ground and intently stared at the burrow. The jackalope slowly crept out of the safety of its home and looked around. It didn’t seem to noticed the two wolves though it was wary. Lash glanced at Keely then back at the small creature. Lash wasn’t sure if Keely was waiting for the right chance to attack it or whether she wanted her to go first but she wasn’t going to wait around for the answer.
Stepping carefully, Lash inched her way closer. Both ears were pointed directly at the prey though, momentarily, flicked back to listen to whether Keely was following or not. She took anther step though a bit too quickly causing the jackalope to sprint off. Lash took of in a growl, she always had trouble with hunting jackalope. Maybe it was because they were always on guard? Or possibly because her colors didn’t blend in to any type of environment?
Keeping her eyes on the prey, Lash changed her pace so that it matched Keely’s. “I’m not sure on your hunting techniques, but how about we stay side by side so that if it decides to change direction, one of us will be able to catch up with is easier,” she said to Keely.

Keely's purple eyes widened as they set off for the hunt. She had to stifle a giggle. lest she ruin the hunt with her excitement. She watched the prey emerge from the burrow, her tails quivered preparing for a strike. She watched Lash, mainly because it was her who started the hunt before they even encountered one another.
Once the prey ran, Keely followed Lash in the pursuit. Her small legs made her not as quick, but at least she was able to keep up. She giggled happily, the jackalope knew the females where there, so she had no reason to keep hidden. She tried to keep an even pace with Lash, but fell behind now and then.
Once Lash came astride to her she nodded eagerly, "Ok! I'll be ready!"

Lash nodded and sped up slightly, leaving Keely a few feet behind and to the left of her. Keeping her eyes on the jackalope, she tried to anticipate its next move. It quickly turned to the right kicking up dirt as it did. She slid into the turn using her tails for balance. She looked back briefly to check Keely’s position before turning back to the prey. She was planning on getting up beside it forcing it to take a left and right into Keely’s path, though there was plenty of room for mistake so Lash had to be careful.
She quickened her pace to where she could barely reach out and touch its hind legs. She leaped foward, hoping it would go towards the small lyxxus. It worked and the small prey sped off, right into Keely's path. Lash still pursued it praying it wouldn't turn away from Keely before she had a chance to catch it.
