He just had to see what this was all about. Tiatsu Keeper had been born in the Yvit cove, not to far off the coast of this island. On a visit to the cave of his birth he had sighted the chain of islands off the coast. He didn't remember much about the place, but he assumed he'd never been to any of them. At a year and a half, Tiatsu was still struggling out of the inquisitive puppy stage, and, heart pounding with the thrill of adventure, he had taken off to explore. From his birds eye point of view he could see the deep forests and then the dark black fields of obsidian. Strange formations called to the young hybrid, and he dropped from the sky, unable to help himself from howling as he fell, wings against his back. Pulling up sharply he came to an abrupt halt. He felt his bones jar slightly as he made hard contact with the rocky earth. Tiatsu peered around with eyes as blue as the sky. Everywhere were new things! Things he'd never seen or heard or sniffed or even imagined! Tail wagging enthusiastically he trotted off to explore, peering at his distorted image in the glassy volcanic rock. He made faces and snarled at his image, at one point even punching the chest of his reflection, right on the yin-yang mark. With a yelp, he pulled his paw back, sucking on it. The rock was... well... hard! "Go figure..." he muttered to himself, "It's a rock..." he continued on with a slight limp, but didn't let this bother him. Bouncing about, he couldn't help but wonder where his friend Kiet was, or his brother. His mother had once told him he had a sister as well. Where was she? And for that matter, where was Mama? Shrugging to himself, he wandered on, giving delightful exclamations at each new thing. What a wonderful place he'd come to!!!

[Chance]

Chance stumbled to a shaky landing. His wings ached fiercely as he let them droop. He had been so intent on flying and gaining strength he ended up going to far. So far he ended up over water, now he was on some island.

The brown and white Keiyou let out a frustrated sigh. Dark purple eyes scanned the surroundings. Where am I? he asked himself. In his four years he had never heard of islands to the south. Is this even south? he thought.

There was no use stressing over it now. The small Kieyou preened his feathers and folded them neatly before beginning to explore. If he was to get back to the main land he would have to eat and rest.
A yip of excitement had his feather in a ruffle. He stood stiff in suspense trying to force his muscles to relax. Once that was done he creep through the bright green scenery searching for the source. The voice had sounded young, he had to make sure that who ever was out there was not in danger.

"Hello?" he called tentatively.

Looking around through the rocks he sighted another wolf, and Keiyou no less! Another winged individual like himself!!! A grin split his face, his tail wagged merrily. Trotting up to the newcomer he introduced himself. "Hello!" said he in his gravely yet musical voice, "I'm Tiatsu! Tiatsu Keeper!!!" He wasn't afraid of other wolves. He never had been. Any chance he had had to become afraid of others had passed, and now he bounded right up to people, young and niave as any pup his age. Sitting down, Tiatsu looked up at the other wolf. He wasn't a full-blooded Keiyou, and could apprieciate the granduer of this particular fellow. He had once wished he could be like other Keiyou's, lion-like tail and large wings... However, he soon discovered he could manuver better in both air and on land than the large clumsy Keiyous, not to mention his unique coat. Tongue lolling dispite the winter chill, breath steaming from his mouth, Tiatsu gazed with awe at who he hoped would be yet another one of his friends. "What's your name?" he asked cheerily. Unable to sit still, he bounced onto his paws and continued staring. Once Tiatsu got a fix on someone he wanted to be friends with, he clung to them until they either yelled at him or complied to his wishes. Mama believed in being dogged, and Tiatsu believed in Mama. (OOC: I dunno if you could tell, but Tiatsu is sort of a Mama's boy ^_^;; He'll get over that soon)

[Chance]

"Uh," Chance took a step back, balking at the onslaught of excitement radiating from the dark pup with an odd yin-yang marking on his chest. His ears lay flat against his head. Calm down, Chance told himself, he's a pup, no harm here.

"I'm Chance," he forced himself to relax once again. The kid's constant movement made him edgy. He didn't have much experience dealing with pups. He'd always been the youngest.

"Where's your mother?" Chance ask while his eyes darted around, searched for any other wolves that might be near by. His tail twitched nervously. This pup couldn't be on his own could he?

"Cool name!" he exclaimed, "That's the.... second coolest name I've ever heard!!!" He wiggled about, glad to been meeting someone new. Usually he would be cool and calm about this sort of thing, but having been alone for sometime made him twitchy, and then meeting someone made him over-exaggerate. Tiatsu blinked at Chance's question. "Where's your mother?" Where was his mother..? "I... I don't know..." he admitted, "I sorta got separated from her farther north. I figured I'd find her by wandering. Mama wandered a lot!" he wagged his tail faster, obviously pleased with life, "She'll be proud of me when I find her again! I know she will! I've done so much..." he sighed, thinking back to his mother. He supposed he was only alive because of her. She'd taught him how to survive early on, so that if they ever became separated he'd know what to do. Brightening up just as quickly as he'd gloomed up, Tiatsu turned his eyes back to Chance. "What about you?" he questioned, "Do you have any family? I bet they're great, huh? Mama was a great person! She says that everyone's family's are good somewhere, so even if you thought they sucked, they all had some good! It just may not have been very apparent!" He had now started jumping about, his obviously short attention span beginning to wear thin. Suddenly rushing off, he ran in circles before returning to Chance. "Sorry 'bout that," he said, "I just can't sit still, that's all!" wiggling some more, he waited for Chance to answer his previous question.

[Chance]

While Tiatsu's insistent wriggling was annoying, Chance couldn't help but find it a little charming. He reminded Chance of himself as a pup. The brown keiyou's heart clenched with pain. Tiatsu was how Chance was before his brother died. No! Don't think about that, he scolded himself silently. You'll only hurt yourself.

Taistu jabbered on and Chance listened waiting for his motor mouth to come to a stop. So he didn't know where his mother was. Would it be wrong if I left him on his own? Chance considered the thought for a moment then sighed internally. It wouldn't be right but if the pup decided to go his own way Chance wouldn't stop him.

"What about you?" he questioned, "Do you have any family? I bet they're great, huh? Mama was a great person! She says that everyone's family's are good somewhere, so even if you thought they sucked, they all had some good! It just may not have been very apparent!"

It was a relief for the young wolf that Tiatsu ran off for a moment. It meant that he missed the cringe that Chance couldn't help but display. When the dark wolf halted in front of him still wriggling with energy Chance was ready to answer.

"They were great. My brother, Hero, was one of the strongest wolves I've ever know. He would have liked you."

"My brother was deaf..." he said, "I'd always have to nudge him in the direction mama wanted us to go. I also apparently had a sister... but Papa took her shortly after we were all born, so I don't really remember her..." He sighed deeply, sitting still for once. All the wondering was beginning to make him depressed... he instantly began to focus on something else, leaping back up. "Have you seen these rock sculptures?" he asked Chance, his tail wagging slower now, "Some of them are pretty cool! They sorta start to look like stuff when you look really hard!!!" He bounded up to one. It had two uneven bulges on the top of its slope. Little mounds of pebbles lay before oddly shaped lumps on its sides. "This one looks like a frog from the right angle!" he exclaimed, "See? The eyes, the legs, the pebbles make up the toes..." He looked at Chance with shining eyes. "Do you see it? Do you?"

[Chance]

Shaking his head Chance fallowed the eager pup. He couldn't help but go along with Tiatsu. The poor wolf didn't even realize that if Chance had been a more hostile creature he may very well be dead. The least he could do would maybe teach his younger some caution with strangers before he headed on his way.

This one looks like a frog from the right angle!" he exclaimed, "See? The eyes, the legs, the pebbles make up the toes..." He looked at Chance with shining eyes.

"Do you see it? Do you?"

Chance tilted his head pretending to examine the rocks," Yeah, see it. What about that one?" he asked nodding his head toward a elongated rock with a flat rock laying next to it like a fish's fin.
"What do you think of that one?"

[Ami]

Ami swam deep under the surroundig water, she heard muffled voices above it, and waned to check it out. Ami swam up and resurrfaced easily, she watched curiously as two wolves, a Keiyou and a Hybird, stared at rocks.

"What do you think of that one?" The Keiou asked the youner Hybrid. They were looking at a rock that appeared to take the form of a fish's fin. Ami smiled and her tail swiftly splashed the water, it was unintentionaly loud, and the Cael froze.

She instantly swam back under, hoping they didn't notice the splash, and did not see the golden scales the covered Ami's mermaid tail.

"A fish!!!" he cried after tilting his head this way and that a few times, "It looks like a fish!!!" Suddenly he heard a splash in the nearby water. Curious, the young one peered over the short drop into the water. A blurry form, its lower half covered in golden scales, could just barely be seen from above. "Hello, Fish!" he cried, wondering if it could hear him, wondering if it would understand him, or if it was even a fish at all..? "What are you doing down there?" He looked back at Chance. "Hey! Chance! Come look!!! A golden fish!!!" he hollered over his shoulder. Looking back down at the fish, he then said, "You should meet chance, Fish! He's really nice!"

[Chance]

Chance startled a bit at a splash close by, then let out a sigh as Tiatsu ran to investigate. His hind paw reached up to scratch his ear as he waited for the young pup's return. He was not about to go chasing after every sound the forest or sea made. Unfortunately he didn't seem to have a choice.

"Hey! Chance! Come look!!! A golden fish!!!"

Lurching to his feet Chance ambled lazily over to peer into the depths below. There was a shimmer of gold scales. Chance's hackles rose and he bared his teeth a little, fluffing out his wings to make himself seem bigger. That was no fish, it was too big and too colorful.

"Show yourself," he growled trembling. He hoped he was wrong. He would rather look the fool than have to fight a hostile Ceal.

[Ami]

Frightened, Ami swam deeper, she did not expect the hostile greeting, she hated fighting, and absolutley did not want to show herself to an angry Keiyou. Though the pup seemed friendly enough, she had giggled when he called her a golden fish.

She resurrfaced, she had come to a decision. "Um..." She trailed off, searching for words. "Hello, I'm Ami...." She trailed off again, then lowered her ears. "I am no threat to you." She whimpered softly. "I just want to make friends..." She whispered more to herself.

She looked back up to the woles, her tail splashing the water softly again, she knew if she needed to, she could just sing. That usually did the trick to calm one down.

He'd never seen a Cael before, which made this meeting even better. He didn't understand Chance's hostility towards his fish-wolf friend, but he figured that he'd change his mind later. "Hello Ami!" he chirped cheerily, "I'm Tiatsu! Nice t'meecha!!!" here he tilted his head slightly to the left, "You're a funny wolf, you know that? I know wolves with funny colors and wolves with wings (like myself) and wolves with horns and wolves with more than one tail... but not fish wolves!!!" he tilted his head the other way now, "Or are you a wolf fish?" He looked at Chance, his face a wreath of happiness. "Chance! Have you seen a wolf like Ami before?" he asked, "What do you think she is?" The thought that he was being rude, not asking her himself, or even asking at all, crossed Tiatsu's mind, but it left as quickly as it came. Wagging happily, Tiatsu looked between his two new friends (for he already considered Ami a friend), glee in his eyes.

[Ami]

Ami blinked at the pups happiness, he was like Ami when she was young. She smiled at the wolf's energenicnes, and was about to speak, until he turned to the wolf named 'Chance'.

"Chance have you seen a wolf like Ami before?" , "What do you think she is?"

Ami's silver eyes went to Chance again, and she studided him, sh wanted to hear what he had to say about her, so she kept quiet.

[Chance]

Relaxing his body he took a causal position next to Tiatsu as he babbled away about the new wolf. Chance keep his eyes trained on the new comer who was quietly listening to Tiatsu's rambling with a slight smile. "Chance! Have you seen a wolf like Ami before?" Tiatsu asked, "What do you think she is?" Now Ami's eyes were on him. He tore his gaze from her to look at his young companion. "She's a Cael," he said," but this is about her maybe you should be asking her," he suggested politely. Then he turned back to Ami and said, "I apologize about earlier," he bowed his head to her.
