She was seeing red, her fur stood on end and every fiber of her being was quivering with rage.
She tasted iron in her maw, her tongue had tufts of fur from the other female yagi. She had not managed to hurt her much, but she got a good few hits in before Seven had managed to break free and run for it. The smaller yagi female stood at the mouth of the cave, snarling after the retreating from.
Cupressus looked haggard, her eyes slightly sunken in, aside the blazing green fire. Her fur was slightly matted with ice and mud, she had perused Arkham on little sleep. When he had first come upon her she was already recovering from a fight, now with out taking proper rest, the stubborn Cypress had charged head-long into another one. She had followed his scent in the snow storm, not wanting to seek shelter for fear she would lose his trail. As soon as the storm had cleared....she had found his scent in this cave....with that bitch.
Her fatigue had caused her to act rashly, she attacked the female because she had been between her and Arkham. HER Arkham. At the moment she was not sure how Seven got away from her, but the pain in the scruff her her neck made her assume that Arkham had yanked her off her adversary. Now he stood between her and the stranger, who was growing ever smaller on the horizon. It didn't matter, the target of her fury was the male....
Panting slightly, she growled at her love, " You defended her! How could you have defended her?! Just last night you were with ME, how long have you been with her? Hmmm? Is that where you were all this time?" She was shaking with cold and seething with avarice. How could he? Was he lying to her the night before? All she felt was betrayal, and deeply seeded hurt. In the back of her mind was her voice of reason. 'You deserve this....' It said 'This is what you get' She should never have told him the truth....
There were tracks down her face where her tears had run the night before and most of the day searching for him. They had attracted dirt, just adding to her sad and pitiful appearance. The only thing that gave her vigor was her anger, and it was burning hotly. Her lips pulled back once more in a snarl, preparing to attack.
The male had jumped to conclusions and then jumped on top of another from the way Cupressus was seeing things. She had come here to make amends and explain herself to the thick-skulled Arkham, but instead.....she found this.

The events that came to pass within the next few minutes started and ended like lighting. One minute, Arkham was speaking to a strange female, the next, facing Cupressus' rage. Just as he had told Seven to get lost, Cypress had charge into the scene, tackling the unsuspecting female, their growls of frustration echoing off the cave walls and attacking his audits. In some ways, the brute had protected the other female, for she had not done anything, and neither had he. In his attempt to pry the furious Cypress off her, one of her horns had connected with his shoulder, leaving a nasty gash in its wake. Not even bothering to look at Seven as she fled, Arkhams ruby optics lay firmly on the seething Cypress in front of him.
All the excitement had taking his breath away, and he stood there snorting heavily. He too had had lack of rest after traveling so far in such weather. Pity it had all been a waste of time. What the hell was she carrying on about anyway? She didn't love him, she had made that quite clear with the reveal of her true intentions.
The brute blinked with fatigue, the eerie silence around the pair was suffocating. He couldn't be fucked fighting anymore. He was over all frustration, over all the pain. He just wanted to get back to his pups, and never see the likes of Cypress again. Wishful thinking perhaps, but his heart had been shattered, its once thunderous beating, now seemed slow and lifeless. Arkham winced slightly as he moved a paw to steady his balance, the heat from the crimson waterfall that fell from his shoulder, reminding him it was still there. What was he going to say? He didn't want to say anything. After another minute of silence, he decided to say something, his voice somewhat calm after all that commotion, and her accusations.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?"
It was an honest question. Why had she come charging in assuming the worst like she always did? She would never fucking trust him. And what made it worse, was the fact that she had followed him, after he had clearly told her not to, and after she had confessed that she obviously didn't love him the way he had loved her. With a frustrated growl, Arkham just couldn't keep himself composed.
"I said, what the fuck is wrong with you?!"
His anger was now rising, his pain no longer containable. Why the fuck did he have to fall in love with this crazy female?

The smell of his blood was slowly making her come out of her rage...she didn't mean to hurt him that badly. She was trembling now, unsure what to do, what to say her ears were flat and she was losing her gusto. She was beginning to feel ashamed of her lashing out. She had already said things she didn't mean and she had been here a matter of minutes. He didn't deserve her rage....if anything she deserved his.
His words fell on deaf ears at first, her head was pounding with thoughts and fatigue. Her snarl fell, she was beginning to feel defeated. Even though they didn't even have a physical brawl.
His growl, accompanied his repeating of his sentence. She blinking and looked up at him, only meeting his eyes for a second before looking away. "I...I'm sorry...I ...it's just the idea of being with another scared me...I..I wasn't thinking." She felt like a puppy being scolded. The next bit was mumbled a little to her worn paws, "Idon'twant to loseyouagain." She could have kicked herself for saying that. She really wanted to explain herself, but the words were tied up in knots in her stomach.

The brute swallowed the large lump that had appeared in his throat as Cypress spoke. He forced his eyes closed, the stinging sensation as they began to moisten was not welcomed. Why was she doing this to him? It was Karma, wasn't it? Getting him back for all the wrong he had done in his life. He knew he would see this day, but he didn't think it would end this way. He always thought he'd be killed in a fight, or something nasty like that. But no, Karma had had other ideas, for emotional torture could be just as bad -if not worse- than physical.
"Don't.... just don't.."
Arkham whispered, dropping his head so he did not have to face her. He began to grind his canines, this situation was really beginning to leave a bad taste in his mouth. Why was she so content on toying with him? He had learned his lesson. Learned it in many more ways than one. With another soft growl of frustration, the brute snapped his head back up to look at Cuppressus, his own face now wet from the tears he just couldn't hold back anymore. Again he whispered, his voice thick like a lovers, yet broken like a childs. This was it, he had to know.
"What do you want from me?" [/center]

She was still shaking, or maybe shivering, she was too numb to know which it was. Her thick fur was doing little to help her since she had not had the chance to groom in the past few days. She bit her lip when he started to speak, she was staring a hole into the ground.
She was doubting herself now, she thought he loved her. However so quickly he was able to turn and run from her the night before. Weariness was beginning to set in. However he growled once more....he was wiling to listen now. What did she want? She looked warily up at him, though the fire was still in her eyes, faintly flickering.
"I want you to listen....don't jump to conclusions like you did last night...." There was a stern tone in her voice, but it was soft. She was determined to get her reasons out there. She did not wait for a response, she kept going.
" Would you rather have found out from someone else?" Tears were beginning to well, but she fought through them. "I wanted it to be out there....everything on the field.....to be honest with you. Before we..." She stopped, eyes falling back down. She wanted to give herself to him, and that could not be done with secrets in the mists....

Arkhams eyelids flickered lightly, fatigue and loss of blood taking its toll. Swallowing the lumps that kept rising in his throat, he shook his head softly so he could focus. It was time to face it all. He couldn't do this anymore, and he knew she couldn't either. His ears perked a little straighter as she told him to listen, curious as to what she had to say.
Arkham himself began to shiver, but it was more from the emotional episodes that he had been going through. He stared at her fragile form, she was so upset. All he wanted to do was hold her. Love her. Make love to her. She still had some spit fire in her yet, her words flowing freely, forcefully, minus the odd break. He knew what she was saying was right, but why? Before we what? A puzzled expression idled onto his round face at that point, and if he hadn't been so tired, he probably would have know what she was trying to get at.
"Before we...?"
He repeated her, his head slightly cocking in question.

Commit was the word that came to her mind. However it didn't seem like it would fit for the way things were going. She looked up at him, there was compassion in her fiery gaze "Before we....are together." That also didn't seem to come out right. Her stubborn nature and trust issues were making this very hard for her.
Finally, she just said, 'Screw it' in her mind and walked towards him as boldly as she could muster. Her body language was more efficient than her words at the moment it seemed. She set her head on his chest, only turning to see the blood and apologetically she licked the wound. Once it was clean, she brought her nose up to his neck, exposing her throat to him in the process, an odd way of showing trust or even submission, but a way none the less.
"I love you..." She whispered....before slumping against him as the weariness finally took it's toll. She closed her eyes and slid to the ground, just wanting to rest in his warmth.

Ruby optics faltered again as Cypress spoke. However, it was from nothing other than disbelief. He had fucked up again. All she wanted was to be open and honest with him, opening herself up to him. His damn irrational thinking had gotten the better of him once again. He was beginning to hate his mistakes, mistakes that not so long ago he couldn't give a damn about. Would he ever do anything right? The lick to his wound brought him out of his thoughts, his body wincing slightly as the warmth soothed it for a moment. He hadn't even noticed her move closer, which in a dire situation could have cost him his life.
Her unusual display of submission was welcoming, perhaps they could both let go and learn to trust each other. Even if it was just each other and not anyone else, it was still a start. His miserable expression moistened further as he let the tears fall freely now, such emotion made him feel somewhat anxious, yet excited as to what was to come. He knew one thing for certain, above anything else: Cupressus would be the death of him.
When those three words reached his audits, Arkham couldn't help but breath a sigh of much needed relief. He wrapped his head around her neck, one paw itching to draw her closer. After all the stopping and starting, something now could perhaps grow, grow into something strong and withstanding anything else that came their way. His eyes were shut firmly, a faint smile idling onto the brutes maw. What he said next wasn't complicated. It wasn't pre-meditated. It was simply right.
"I love you too."

She gave him a weary smile, her eyes opened back up as his voice seemed to finally soothe her rage. Her poorly docked tail wagged slightly. Finally she could live again.
She looked up at him, the fire in her eyes moistened as his did. She nuzzled into his chest, and nipped his forepaw, urging him to lie down with her for a while. They both needed some rest, and she needed warmth. She thought about the future, it seemed brighter than it was a few days before. She had her family back. Her pack may be festering, but at least she had something she could claim as her's and hers alone.
She lowered her head to her paws, letting a sigh escape her maw. One ear rested on her head, the other popped back up, " When should we go to the children?" Her heart ached to see her son again, and even though her daughter was as stubborn as Arkham, she wanted to see her again too.

At Cypress' urge to lay down with her, the brute did so with relief, he could rest now. They both could. Rolling over onto his good side, his lifted his wounded leg to pat her side with his paw, now urging her to come closer to him. A small growl of protest rumbled from his chest as pain shot through his shoulder, it was going to take a while for that to heal. Much like other things in his body. His broken heart. Which already seemed to be beating with a new strength. His mind. Hopefully his guilt would leave him, and the memories of all that he had done wrong would vanished along with it. He had changed now, or was going to, and he accepted this thought willingly. He would try his best for not only himself, but his family. His children, and, his mate.
Ruby optics trailed over her form, his mind lost in thoughts all over again. She was his, and he was hers. He had already accepted this fact a long time ago, but it still made him somewhat uneasy. Never had he thought one could ever love him, and vice versa. But that didn't matter he thought with a small shake of his head. All that mattered was that they did love each other, and if anything he felt somewhat blessed that she had chosen him. After all, his own father had never loved him.
At her mention of the children, Arkham couldn't help but smile. He missed them, and with no doubt Cypress missed them even more. Another sting at his already battered heart. With some reassuring nibbles to her neck and back, the brute let his ruby optics delve into her emerald ones. She was so beautiful.
"Whenever you want, dear."
He chuckled, nudging her teasingly.

She watched him lower to the ground, his paw urged her closer. She crawled on her belly a few feet to slide in next to him, taking in his warmth and his musky scent. It was like home. She was glad that he listened this time, glad that they could both rest. Though there was a shroud over her heart as his nibbled reminded her of the few bruises she had from a few days before. She had her family back...but what about her pack.
His voice brought her troubled mind back out; she smiled softly at the thought. His nudge, however, got a slight wince out of her. Maybe she was more tender than she thought, or maybe just sore. She hoped he didn't see it. However the proximity they had would not allow it to escape him. Maybe she could change the subject....or rather keep it on par.
"I'd like that....but first I think sleep is needed." She reached up and licked him under the chin, careful that her horns did not find his large head.

The brutes eyelids fluttered once more as he readily accepted sleep. Perhaps now he could get a proper nights rest, without tossing and turning. Perhaps the vivid nightmares that attacked his mind would retreat to were they came, hiding back into the darkest corners of his mind. And some day, they might just disappear all together.
Arkham was about to slip into a much need unconsciousness state, but something caught his ruby orbs. As he had nudged Cypress, her whole body had tightened into a painful wince. He cocked his head as he rested it on her back, he hadn't hurt her that much had he? No, all he did was pull her way. And there hadn't been much of a fight with the other female. A tight frown of confusion now marred his peaceful expression, what had she gotten up to that had caused her body so much ache?
"Cypress?"
He whispered gruffly, licking his maw.
"What happened?"
He knew something had gone on. Whether it was a fight, or some rough loving from another male, he had to know.

Her ears folded back and a saddened look crossed her face, "Bathsheba....." The scar on her side itched at the thought. She brought a forepaw up and idly scratched at it, taking care. She looked at her forepaws, the feeling of dread was looming in the back of her mind.
"She's...no longer well. She barely recognizes us anymore. Dokimer came home and she almost lashed out to attack him." She looked at Arkham, not sure if she had met the Doctor or not, " He's a small yagi with a deformed double tail, he's not really much in a fight, she would have killed him had Nero and I not stepped in." Dokimer was an old friend to her. She was still not sure what she felt of Nero.
" Nero lost and ear, she maimed her own son. I watched her fight him like she was a dumb beast raging at any sort of threat. He and I over powered and subdued her.....the look in her eyes, Arkahm...it hurts to see her like this." She was conflicted on how to react over all. Of all the pack she was probably the one that had known about he Empress's fluxing sanity. Yet there was nothing she could do...she was loyal to Bathsheba and the Empire...but at what point would she have to choose one or the other?
She eyes were heavy, just like her heart. Sleep called to her, but she had to explain everything to Arkham. She knew that he was not a fan of Bathsheba, but he had put up with her in the past. Perhaps he could offer an outsiders opinion.

A stiff growl escaped his maw at the mere mention of Bathseba. It was no secret that they hadn't liked each other, but tolerated one another like adults would. After all, she had been the Alpha of the Empire, and Cypress' undying loyalty would have made it impossible to choose between them or him. His thoughts lingered there for a moment, who would she have chosen if it came to that?
"Crazy female."
He continued to growl. Just because she was insane, it didn't give her the right to attack those closest to her. He had heard of Nero, but never met him, and also knew he was in line for the throne. One could question if his actions to throw the former Empress from her authority was out of genuine care for his unstable mother, or something a little more sinister. Arkham would bet his life it wasn't about care at all. Would Cypress ever leave? Could he ever stay? Be one with a pack.... The brute snorted, he highly doubted it.
Giving his mate a few tender licks to console her worried mind, Arkham just could not subdue the anger that was rising inside him, just thinking of anyone hurting her caused his blood to boil. He should have been there to protect her. He knew she could hold her own, but that wasn't the point.
"She needs to be put down."
He continued, the feral bitch did not deserve sympathy. If she was so concerned and cared about her Empire, she would have resigned from her position before it all rotted away beneath her fat paws. It was going to take time to build it to what it once was. And with another bastard child, whom might inherit his mothers unstable way, desperate to take the rains- it could only end in one way. Why could Cypress not see that?
Ruby optics burned into her emerald ones, if she had wanted his opinion, she had got it. He did not move, he just stared, trying to figure out Cypress just by looking at her. In all her complex glory.

She was quiet for a few minutes, contemplating his words. Maybe he was right....she almost hated to think of it. As stubborn as she was, once she was loyal to something it was fiercely. However, she had a family now. A true family with pups of her own blood. Once she was reunited with her pups, she would not hesitate to devote herself to them...to Arkham.
Her poorly docked tail twitched, she was still conflicted, however the warmth of the male next to her gave her comfort. No matter what happened, she would have him beside her. For a moment she considered the possibility of leaving the pack....it made her insides twist. She turned and nuzzled into his chest, taking in his scent. He had left her before and she survived...but she was unsure if she could survive it again.
"I'm sorry...." Was all she could say, for bringing down the mood. For bringing up Bathsheba. All she wanted right now was to savor her time with Arkham, and dream about seeing her pups the next day. She reached up and licked under his chin.
