The day was rather windy, perfect for low altitude flying. Yahiko and Falkryn had managed to cover a lot of ground that day, the breeze was in their direction and they didnt need to flap nearly as much as normally. But eventually they did get tired and touched down on the ground, landing less clumsily than purebred Keiyou. But they wouldve been able to travel longer if they were purebred Keiyou. Oh well, there are just some things that will never change.
There was a beach down below, and they had landed only a few yards off it. Though the sand might have given a better landing. The breeze still blew, even causing a few dust devils with loose grit and sand out in the distance, the waves were driven back slightly by it, and speaking of a beach, was there a place where they could relax a bit? It was pretty tiring, and though Yahiko refused to stray from their goals, he was probably going to be brought down to stay put by Falkryn. "You want us to stay out here for the night, don't you Falkyrn?

"You want us to stay out here for the night, don't you Falkryn?" The question was, why not? They had been flying all day, with no wolf in sight, no one who needed any kind of help or was in any danger, and here it certainly wasn't any different. They were homeless too, every once and a while they had to take care of themselves, Yahiko was so selfless, it was pretty dangerous for his health, but she was confident that he would be okay despite it all. "I do. Theres nothing else we can do today. Lets go down that path out of the sand over there and see where it takes us." She answered quite confidently despite her quiet nature. When it came to Yahiko, she couldn't hold back words. With a grumble, Yahiko got on the move as well as she, both their wings tucked in now as they were going against the wind now. The winding path took them to a series of caverns, and Falkryn thought it would be better to stay by the entrance. "So we can get right back out there if trouble arrives, right?!" Yahiko exclaimed enthusiasticaly after she had explained her thoughts about where to stay in the deep caverns.
All we can do now is rest and then just go on tommorrow. She hadnt met another wolf in a few days, and she was freankly getting annoyed by it. She wanted to see other wolves, meet other personalities and lives.
[/justify] OOC: Now its your turn to reply Bronzeh. Maybe invite Keiaki to look at the area around like the caverns for the heck of it?

It had been a long day. Plenty of swimming, which pleased the female Cael greatly. Verra had managed to catch a few fish to keep her stomach quiet, and was ready for a bit of rest. The air was staying warmer even when the sun was gone, a sure sign that spring was imminent. About time. She crawled out of the ocean on her two legs, heading for the caves she had seen earlier. They had looked like a good spot to spend the night. Slowly and with some discomfort, she inched closer to the entrance. Without so much sun, her tail and fins would take a while to dry out. The rock of the cave floor, at least, had been worn smooth by the erosion from water and sand. She found a spot that was moderately comfortable, and relaxed. From her spot, she could see out over the water. The wind hadn't faded, so the waves still pounded against the shore. The sound was rather relaxing.
She wondered if that other Cael she had met earlier, Keiaki, was around. There were plenty of caves for him to sleep in, if he wished. While scanning the area to see if she could catch sight of him, she saw something else. Two somethings, actually. They looked like Keiyous, with their feathery wings. Verra couldn't really tell the difference between hybrids and the pure-blooded ones. They were talking, but she couldn't quite make out the words. She sighed, wondering if she should say something or just ignore them. Moving wasn't really at the top of her To Do list at the moment, not while her tail was still working on getting all the water out. At least they were coming closer.
"What brings you two out here?" she asked, with slightly less surliness than usual. She was too relaxed to be all that rude.

Yahiko was not very sleepy at the moment, especially when he heard a new voice, a kind of sing-song worthy she-wolf voice that rang out in the caverns in pretty tones. When he looked up from his current viewpoint, or the stone ground below him, he saw a white and light blue wolf, with a fish tail. So what he had heard was true, they really do exist, the fish wolves.... But what he really had to do was answer her question. So he stood up so he didnt look either weak or lazy. "Were just travelling around, and we decided to camp down here. Are you from around here?"
He didn't seem very hostile, he just didn't know if Falkryn and he had entered another wolfs territory. But he certainly didnt smell anything, and the wind was blowing in the direction of the cave, making hollowing sounds, so the scent would have surely made it to where they were standing. No wonder he had smelled fish earlier, thats when this stranger was coming up.
"We Don't really have a place to stay, so we would like to stay here or somewhere around where there was food. By the way, is there really any prey around here?"

Falkryn's ears twitched and swiveled at the sound of another other than Yahiko. Sunrise pink eyes surveyed the odd new arrival with a soft quiet kind of amazement. Falkryn was mystified by the meeting of soft white fur with vibrant blue scales. Cocking her head to the side in a silent question but she didn't voice her inquiries.
Instead she turned Yahiko and listened to his explanation and question. It was a relief that he did all the talking and spared her. Gently she lay her head down upon her paws, tail swaying slightly as she waited for the newcomer's answer. She wondered if there were others like her around here. If so Falkryn would very much like to meet them.

Verra was pleased by their glances toward her tail. She was proud of it, and it was well that they had a little admiration. Her voice, though lovely, lacked any of the etiquette most wolves used around strangers. Or the etiquette they should use, anyway. "No, I don't live here, but I like it, so I'll probably stay for a while. The fishing is good, if you know how. Can't really speak for the rest of the area. If you want to know anything about that, find out for yourselves." The white Cael stood up with her forelegs, and shook off whatever moisture still clung to her scales. They were replaced by fur, and she sat down more comfortably on normal hindquarters.
"What're your names, then? I'm Verra, and before you ask, yes, I am a Cael, and all Cael can do that." The vivid orange male seemed to ask all the questions, while his paler companion was oddly silent. She stared at that one, wondering if the Keiyou was too stupid to think of anything to say. Perhaps she couldn't speak at all. It was possible.

"Well I've never really heard of Cael, I've just heard of the fish-wolf. I'm Yahiko, and this is my good friend Falkryn. Were travelling around looking for other orphans like us! Thats why were not really from anywhere. So hey, while your like a fish wolf and all, maybe you could teach us how to fish? What do you think, Falkryn? Think its possible?"
It reminded him of that one time, when they both looked into the river and talked about what they were gonna do with themselves. That one day when they decided they were gonna help others.. The day that forever changed his life and his goals, and even had Falkryn convinced and changed her too. There were fish in that river, and because of how hungry they were at the time he eyed them hungrily, but he couldnt swim at that time. Now he could, but it was very hard with such wings.
Yahiko was pretty interested in this fish wolf. Maybe she didnt have anywhere to go either. Maybe she was alone just like them. He also noticed that despite such a polite kind of voice, she didnt speak in proper etiquette and such.

Instead of really listening to the conversation she continued to study Verra. She never minded that Yahiko introduced her nor him taking charge. It was nothing different from what she would say if she wanted to. He had that under control. Verra's change however was not something either Falkryn or Yukiko could control and that fascinated her. How her scales had melted away to become fur and hind quarters was a wonder.
Falkryn's ears flicker as if an annoying fly were buzzing around it. Her chest rose with a slightly larger breath and released a slight sigh. With it drifted out words. "I suppose anything is possible."

"Fish-wolf?!" Verra snapped. "Fish-wolf? Shall I call you two bird-wolves, then? I am a Cael, thank you very much." Her pale gold eyes glowered at them for a few moments for that one. She almost refused their request for a lesson in fishing just because of that "insult." Granted, she was a fish and a wolf, but that certainly didn't excuse their not knowing the proper term. Going back in the water would make here need to restart the whole drying process, too. She let out a long-suffering sort of sigh, and stood up. Verra looked over at the female, Falkryn. So she could talk. after all. Astonishing.
"You two do look kinda scrawny, which I suppose is understandable, being loners 'n' all. Come on, then. I don't know how bird wolves swim, but I can show you my method." She walked off to the beach, her stride a little odd, as always. A little more water time couldn't hurt, right? She just hoped the fish would be around. Morning and evening were usually the times for finding food, but if the two Keiyous were too inexperienced, they might splash too much and scare off their would-be prey. Hopefully they wouldn't be too incompetent. She could hope, right?

Verra was still around, and they were good friends now, and it seemed clear that neither of them were going to travel anywhere else for a while. Maybe I'll just live here. Keiaki had thought many times, but thinking of any potential dangers that could bring. He didnt think of very many. He wasn't exactly a specialist in the philosophy of choosing property. He wasn't hanging in caves anymore. No, he was staying underwater a lot more often because of the newly arrived Cael. She seems to enjoy the place as a place to stay about as much as he. She had gone up to the caves where he had used to stay, apparently to get dry down there. I wonder why she wanted to get dry, it was a fairly humid day, and the stink that you would get from such weather would be just.... But he was out there anyway, he slid behind a rock near the water attached the the wall of the cliffs like a kind of tunnel, keeping to the shade but still being immersed up the the chest in water, just to keep cool. He panted in the heat. Suddenly his ears pricked up at sudden sounds. . |

Yahiko was caught a little of guard when the "Cael" snapped. I guess some people cant take a fact. He thought with a mental shrug. When they exited the swarthy shadows of the cave entrance, the only part of the stone that was bleached by the constant rays of the sun, things started to raise up, heat wise. The humidity level was pretty high, making him sweat pretty quickly. When they came down to the beach where they had just landed, he could feel the sand stick to his paws immediatley. There was no doubt that the warm, thick weather was there. Thick like an oxes skin, and hot like its fur.
As he looked around, he realized he had never seen the ocean. How the green-blue water expanded into the horizon completely without any sign of an end. The salty stench clinged to the air as if the salt itself was holding onto the thick water molecules that were barraging them in the air. They stopped walking, and Yahiko found a rock that was attached the walls of a cliff. But he saw something on the way. Something slid into the rock, something both lengthy and large. A snake? He thought when he saw the shimmer of scales. He wondered if Falkryn just saw the same thing that he just did.

Falkryn didn't react to Verra's snapping at Yahiko, though she didn't appreciate it. But it didn't show on her face. Instead she decided to appreciate her offer to teach them to hunt. Falkryn rose lightly and followed Verra and Yahiko out into the hot humid air, almost making her miss the cool of the cave instantly. She took a seat by Yakiko and wrapped her tail around her paws. Her tongue swiped across her muzzle in anticipation of food. Looking over at Yahiko she noticed that something had caught his eye. She scanned the area for what he was looking at but couldn't make a distinction. Giving up on that venture she turned to Verra wondering if she would have to prompt her for instruction. She would rather not have to ask but she would. She contemplated for another minute then decided to wait. If Verra didn't start Yahiko would urge her anyway.

As she looked over the beach, Verra noticed the familiar navy blue glint of snake scales in the water. It definitely looked like Keiaki. He was in the shade, probably trying to keep cool. She felt a sudden urge to ditch the Keiyou pair and follow his example. Let them figure it out for themselves. That probably wouldn't make them very happy, though. Not that they didn't deserve a bit of unhappiness for being so utterly clueless when it came to Caella...but it still wouldn't be the best idea. She would, however, make them wait a bit for their lesson.
"Keiaki!" she called, and walked over to where he was resting. "Care to do a bit of fishing? These two bird wolves want to learn how." She jumped into the water, letting her fish tail grow back. The cool water immediately gave some relief. Even without so much sun, the humidity could be wretched. She turned to the Keiyou, her tail swishing back and forth with a mix of eagerness and impatience. "You two know how to swim, or do you need to learn that, too?" Her tone wasn't so condescending as her words. She just wanted to know how much she'd have to explain before they could get to the fishing part. If Keiaki could help, they might be able to work a bit faster. Time was of the essence and all that.

They had an airy scent to them, as though they were part of the wind that had stopped blowing behind him just a moment ago, when he was able to pick up the scent at that exact moment. He slithered around backward out of the mini tunnel to look for the strangers, but they were right there beside him, on the wall end of the mini tunnel rock.
The two were strange. They certainly werent normal keiyou. That showed by the color of their pelts. One had bright, fiery orange colors and a sort of mane on the top of his head that was fairly spikey, and the other one had three different colors swirling around her pelt like mystified, clashing winds.
He also remembered that Verra had called out to him, saying something about teaching them how to fish or swim.
"We don't need to be taught how to swim we already know!" The orange one yelled before turning to Keiaki. "So who are you guys?" Keiaki asked. |

The stranger that came out suprised Yahiko even more, though he tried not to show it (which clearly wasnt working). He was like the "Cael" named Verra, only his tail wasn't a fish. It was that of a giant snake. The size of the hind half was monstrous in size, and not even the whole thing was visible, the length of it must have been 2-4 wolf lengths. Yahiko reminded himself if he met a wolf like that he did not want to get him angered at close range. Half the tail must have been in the rock, which turned out to be not a rock, but a small tunnel formation in the rock. Yahiko did his best to maintain his composure. He glanced behind him to see what Falkryn thought. It appeared that she showed very little visible suprise, but what was going on in her mind he had no idea of. That was Falkryn for yah, two personalities apart, the mind and body.
"So, who are you guys?" The voice was young and innocent, no sign of toughness or hostility at all. That was a relief, at least.
"The names Yahiko. Behind me is Falkryn. Are you the one she over there calls Keiaki?" "Yeah, thats me. So what are you guys doing here anyway?
"Were kinda hungry so were trying to learn how to fish, yah know? "There are koi passed the edge of the cliffs in the water, and they swim on the surface around now, you could try flying over and scoop it up like an eagle or something." He didnt sound like he knew everything, and he must have been the same age he was, though by the size difference you obviously couldnt really tell.
But he agreed with the snake-wolfs idea of catching fish. "Should I try it first, Falkryn? To make sure its affective, I mean." His good friend Falky, when usually given her opinion, shes usually right, in the times that she talks.
