Immediately, she felt bad for being afraid of him, since he obviously had more to fear from them: Both from the same pack, him with an injury. He must be very brave, she thought to herself, I wonder how it happened... Immediately her storyteller mind came to action, dreaming of heroic battles and tragic pasts.
She abruptly snapped out of her daydream, wondering where he planned on going if he was still a little asleep and obviously hurt. The night was closing in fast, the beautiful sunset just a faded orange glow in the distance as dark blue and several timid stars had begun to fill the open sky. " I don't really think setting off on your own is a good idea after, er, knocking yourself out..." she tried to put it delicately, but it was the truth.
"But if you want to, that's fine. Of course, I'd have to agree with Somatra: I'd definitely enjoy to hear both of your stories, since it's been a while since I've met other wolves. However, if you're not in the mood, that's fine." She tried her best to put him at ease, let him know she wasn't, well, they weren't, an enemy to him.
She noticed Som's proudness over her rank as Guardian, and thought it a mighty and important task: It made her feel better to know there were such devoted wolves to their rank, and nature. She thought about her question, her lips curling into a smile:
" Being a guardian sounds like a noble job, one that it seems you're well suited for. As for me, well, you could say I'm part time traveler, part time storyteller for the Children, although they're closely linked. I weave stories and legends out of wolves that I've met, sometimes using bits of their past or personality traits that I find most interesting. But don't worry, I always ask." She added, worried Torn or Somatra might think she would use them for her own gain. She sat up, her eyes bright: "If you'd both like, sometime I could tell you some."
Most wolves she had met always enjoyed a story, whether a fierce warrior, a wizened Sage or even a small pup. Maybe if she took the focus of Torn and his injury, he'd relax a little. Besides, she thought, it's a great opportunity for practice. | |
