No, no. Now she knew that it was a fucking bad idea. The lone keiyou shivered under the icy glare of a lone moon. She had been forced to ground as the desert air was too cold for her to fly anymore. Even the shifting sands were too cold to curl up and wait for the night to end. With a wrinkling of her muzzle she knew it would be a long wait if she decided to do that; night had just fallen. The sky was rich blue in colour with faint eggshell blue gleam at the horizon.
She started to stumble, whining. Her wings wrapped themselves around her shaking body and tail curled around her left hind leg, the tufted ending tickled her paw but she ignored it. Her only thought was to finish this chilly hell-hole. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Hawk's mind chanted almost aimlessly with the voice complaining faintly against the coldness. Despite the chilly night and the fact that she could be the only wolf around, Hawk wasn't afraid. It was her against wild and she always win. She had survived this long and she was sure that she will be alive when her paws brush the damp ground of Nanjiro swamp.

Torment was dreaming.
Black and red fur. Bright orange eyes. He was like fire, flickering in the early morning sunlight. The way he carried himself, the light, skipping way he walked, the humble lowering of his head... everything about him spoke of love.
"Do you love me?" Jaunt had whispered in his ear once. Torment had been half asleep at the time. He didn't remember what he had responded at the moment, but in his dream, he answered with utter certainty.
"Of course," his voice had the hollow echo that came with the dream realm. Jaunt had smiled then, and Torment's heart skipped a beat. His smile was always so soft and kind. There was a sort of gentle warmth behind it.
In the depths of the dream, something changed.
A sudden, fierce heat, rushing in from all around, sucking away Torment's breath. He leaped back, a howl caught in his throat, as Jaunt stood. His smile was still there, but the rest of him was in flames.
"Do you love me? Do you love me?" a low, fiery hiss. Everything was aflame! The sounds of a battle raged in the distance, and soon the remains of Jaunt were joined by others.
"Unfit, unfit," hissed the new pile of bones and ashes, "You're unfit to live here! You're upsetting the Great Spirits, unfit! Unfit!"
The fire leaped. All at once, Torment himself was on fire, tumbling backwards into an endless abyss.
"Unfit! Unfit!" the voices called after him.
"Jaunt!" the howl escaped his throat at last. He tried to flap his wings, but the feathers had burned off. He reached up to his mate. Jaunt's form was little more than a mass of ash at this point, and, with a tiny sigh, a gust of wind blew him away.
"Jaunt!!! Jaunt! J-"
With a howl, Torment awoke, uncertain of where he was. There was sand in his fur, it clung to his feathers, scraped against his teeth. Scrambling to his paws, the white keiyou looked around.
The desert...
He suddenly remembered. He was in the desert, wandering away from the swamp for a bit. He had yet to request a chance to join them, but he desperately wanted to. However, his shy nature prevented the words from leaving his muzzle, and instead he had slunk off for a bit.
Torment shivered. It had been blazing hot when he had fallen asleep, perhaps the source of his dream, but it had iced over quickly. His white fur had been useful for deflecting the sunlight, but now he wished that he had been born with more black on him. The two little stripes that ran from his nose to his tail wouldn't do very much for him. A few swirls of gray and lavender also wandered across his body, but neither of those colors would hold in any heat. With a sigh, Torment began to walk. It was far too cold to stay still.
A faint gust of wind blew a puff of sand into his nose, as well as the scent of a wolf. He looked around, curious to see who else would be dumb enough to come to the desert. In retrospect, it really hadn't been the greatest choice of destination he had ever made. After a few moments of searching, he spotted her. Picking up the pace, he jogged over, tail a-wag.
"Hello there!" he called. He watched as she began to stumble, then hurried a little closer, "Hey, are you alright?" a hint of concern crept into his voice.

Nepara was used to walking these kind's of places. Her toes tickled against the sand. It made her giggle a bit. She stretched, then gazed over the barren wasteland. The little eremus continued to walk the sandy path she had taken. She was heading north. She wanted to test her body against the cold up north. Surely she could live there without being bothered or poked fun at.
Then she heard another wolf running towards her. Nepara crouched then when no one came in contact with her, she looked up to see there was two wolves. The other wolf had been running to the fallen one not far from her. She seemed like she was in trouble.
Nepara ran on her stubby legs after them, she wanted to help if she could. She looked to Torment and then to Hawk, concern plastered on her face. "Are you alright?" she asked attentively.

Wind swept across the Hotali Desert, beating down the waves of tall grass, whipping dirt and sand into the unprotected eyes of those daring to traverse the super heated terrain.
Eyes of bright and silver-white, like shining lamps, peered over the cooked landscape. Searching, for any signs of life, and their next meal. The beast looked right at home hovering over the sand dunes, reflections of gold and yellow setting a brilliant contrast against his ruby colored scales.
The dragon had the finest, detailed scales, so reflective that he looked like he was made of glass. The tip of his snake-like tail glowed as brightly as his eyes did. Overall, he looked like he was created from molten rubies; and here he was, flying leisurely over this fiery landscape.
It was in the midst of his vain thoughts did the dragon's snout twitch, smelling a potential meal on the horizon. Silver eyes located the trio of wolves, seemingly in-aware of his formidable presence.
After a few more seconds of assessing the situation, the ruby Juggernaut decided he was far to hungry to mess about, and he would go in for a quick, easy kill. Letting out a ferocious roar, signalling the little doggies of their impending doom, the dragon dived almost gracefully toward them. Perhaps they would scatter at the sound, making his job easier, and one of their deaths, much more quicker.

Will this ever end? Well! Of course, don't be silly, nothing lasts forever. Hawk was so sure that when the sun rises next she would reach her destination. Away from this godforsaken place. She started to move again when a familiar scent came to her frozen nose. Wolf. This brought mixed feelings up from within. Relieved to know that she wasn't alone and disappointed that she wasn't alone. Hawk liked to travel alone but in this place... Even though she didn't like to admit it, she knew it would be nice to have some company.
She moved her face toward the sound of the wolf's voice. At this she laughed hoarsely. "Of course, silly, I'm alright." She knew she definitely wasn't but like she was going to admit it. Especially to a stranger. He was a keiyou just like herself, but whiter. Much whiter. She smirked. He must be struggling with the coldness, even more than her thanks to his pale coat. It was somehow nice to know that there was someone suffering more than her at the moment. It made her feel less... weak. She opened her mouth preparing to speak once again when another "Are you alright?" came.
What? She looked at another white, but wingless, wolf with an obvious scorn on her face. What the hell had made her look... not alright? Well, apart from that stumbling. Everyone stumble, don't they, right? And you don't see others saying that to someone whenever they stumble every time. "This is just silly!" She was raising her head with a scornful frown crossing her face when she spotted a gleaming flash of red in the sky. "Wha...?" It slowed and its silver eyes began to stare the trio then it roared while it dived. Frozen with terror, all Hawk could do was to stare at it with her eyes bulging while she spoke almost causally: "Now, no I'm not alright..."

Torment breathed a sigh of relief when the wolf assured him that she was alright. He wasn't entirely certain of what he would have done had she said otherwise anyways, and then realized just how silly he would have looked, standing there with a wolf who might have been sick or injured, not knowing what to do about it.
"That's good!" he said, "I mean... if you hadn't been-" he was saved the embarrassment of accidentally letting slip just how incapable he was by the appearance of another wolf, also asking after the health of the first one. Torment studied this second wolf with curiosity. He was new to the area, coming in from a country to the south of this one, and was still adjusting to all of the strange wolves the area had to offer. He was torn between asking her exactly what she was, and sticking to his normal, polite self. It seemed that the first idea was winning though. After all, a wolf with hooves..?
He shook his head slightly, coming back into the conversation just in time to hear the heavy wing beats from above. His heart leaped into his throat. He had only heard of dragons in stories, and had hoped to go through his life without ever seeing one. However, curiosity took over, and he turned to look at the giant ruby beast. A tiny squeal escaped his throat, and he fought to keep himself from collapsing to the cold desert sand. His brain screamed for him to run, but it seemed that his every muscle froze.
Wouldn't it be funny... Torment thought, for me to die like this? All in flames and heat, just like I imagine Jaunt did?
I guess... it might not be that bad...
Would it?
Torment's hind legs gave out, and he sat down with a soft thump. He could tell that any second now, the rest of him would follow. Eyes wide with disbelief, he stared up at the dragon.
Maybe I should have just stayed in the swamp...

The Eremus yelped as the other two froze at the sight of the Dragon approaching them. Nepara felt her legs elongate, becoming tall like stilts. She cried out in suprise as she bore into the dragon's figure, only feet from her body. Oh why couldn't her powers work for her? She swore they would be the death of her one of these days.
"Don't just stand there... RUN!" she tried to tip toe at them, to kick them with her stretched paw to get them up and moving. She didn't know what else to do... what could she do? The eremus was too weird to do anything useful with her uncontrollable power. Wasn't she?
[sorry it's crappy and short @_@ didn't know what else to post...]
