He needed to get away to some place warmer. Why did he join a pack all the way up north? Was he crazy?! No, he did it for Ariana... that's right. Ever since he joined all he had gotten was beaten up and lately had not seen said Sennyo. Being in the prairie sent waves of joy through him. It was much more pleasant even with fall approaching quickly. Winter would definitely be harsh back with the knights...maybe he should leave and try to find the republic again? Nah, they probably never existed or disbanded by now anyways. A debate began to swim through his head now as he laid down in a patch of soft flowers. I can't just abandon Ariana now... but I'm not settling down especially in such a cold place...I need somewhere new. Somewhere comfortable... He rolled onto his back for a second then back onto his stomach to sniff the flowers. Then he sniffed the air around him... no pack resided here. But that's why he came to rest here. Right? Sighing as he took a deep breath in of some Golden Hurrholls, feeling a bit drowsy now. Nautic laid out on his side, his breathing leveled as he drifted into slumber. Slumber and dreaming. It had not been long before he awoke in the field of flowers again and panted merrily. "Come on sis!" one of his brothers tugged on his younger sister's ear. She whimpered as she fell forward into a puddle of mud. Then she started crying and calling out for their parents. "Don't be so mean to your sisters!" Nautic's mother strode over to them, her slender form a sight to behold. The way she held herself just screamed how much of flirt she was and how more more Nautic had grown like her than his father. Nautic simply watched the scene from the sidelines. His one tail starting to sprout another. Soon he would be old enough to compete with other pack members and his siblings for the alpha rank. Now he felt he understood why females were soo keen on their looks. Then everything turned black as Nautic stood there as himself again at almost a whooping 8 years old. He felt tears fall down his muzzle, staring at his own reflection in the cold and hard black floor below him. "Where is my place? Why am I doing this? What happened when life was so good?" he questioned, then the floor disappeared as he fell through it... crying out as he spiraled into eternal darkness- he jolted awake. Now afternoon...how long had he been sleeping for? [/scrolly]

The areas all around were littered with the thick stenches of pack borders, and various other wolves. Even this seemingly abandoned area had strong scents, but despite this, nothing fresh teased at the orange female’s nose. It was a nice enough area to laze about and take a nap, despite the slight autumn wind that gently brushed against her coat. Green eyes peered over the area carefully, with ease. A few grasses sprouted across the prairie but mostly the area seemed pretty dead. Not even the common wildlife of the area was out and about, but that was to be understood, if she was in an area that was frequent with predators, she wouldn’t show herself off in the open either. The perfect place for the tiny creature to take shelter overnight and she doubted that any large predators that she feared would wander into the area. Perhaps it would have been wiser to wander into a heavily colder area with her extremely thick coat the way it was. Saint doubted very much that she would overcome to heat exhaustion or anything of the sorts, though. The sun would soon be setting, and like most desert’s, she assumed the temperature would drop to twice of what it was during the day, not to mention she had taken in a large amount of water before wandering into the open prairie. She knew better than to allow herself to become a victim of thirst on travels, it was too much of a risk. So, tonight, Saint would take shelter in the prairie overnight. Dainty, graceful steps carried the extremely small female across the prairies like a sweet dancer, her movements careful, purposeful, but yet still beautiful. Despite the fact that she looked like a giant walking orange cotton ball, Saint had an aura around her that commanded attention, respect. Yet inwardly, she was exactly the opposite, annoyed by the simple sighting of another wolf. This thought left her rolling her eyes at herself, she had come out of the northern area’s secrecy purposefully, in search of a...manageable companionship, or even better, a stable pack. For now though, she would bide her time, she could tell just from the numerous scents the drifted just about everywhere that there were numerous packs. If she could find someone to give her the information she needed, it would fix her craving of company for about ten minutes, then she could fix her lifestyle situation. Tiny, black nostrils twitched as she walked down a small dip, the wind abruptly switched direction and she was hit in the face with the full on scent of another wolf, whom she also just as quickly laid eyes on. His bright features catching her eyesight right away, and although she inwardly cringed at the fact that he was bigger than her, he was a Lyxxus. Her body halted a few yards from him, her emerald eyes locked on him, however she stayed silent. When you spend almost three years in solitude, it seems almost impossible to make a simple greeting. How wonderful.

He stretched, how long had he been away from his pack? Guess too long if he couldn't remember... before his sense of smell could even return, the lyxxus spun around to head back to the tiaga when his eyes laid on her. Another lyxxus no doubt, and when he was not far from the republic's said lands... maybe she knew something? Nautic became overjoyed with the thought the pack might still exist. So he strode up to her, his maw slightly parted as he uttered such melodic words in his deep and husky tone "Hello." He took in her scent and stared in awe, how ravishing her pelt was underneath the afternoon sun. He had to know this lyxxus' secret. That could wait though, he had yet to formally introduce himself. Clearing his throat again, he added on. "What is a fine lady like yourself doing out wandering alone?" he asked her, sitting now, all but one of his tails were floating in the cool breeze. The other tail slowly splitting. "Name's Nautical Rausting by the way, love. Call me what you please..." he dipped his head down temporarily in her presence before awaiting her reply. [/scrolly]

Perhaps her behaviour wasn’t wise, but the fear of almost anyone two inches bigger than her, and this male almost doubled her size was enough to take away any rationality. However, she was able to keep her composure as he leisurely took a seat near her, her green eyes locked onto the male’s own striking violet eyes and her five tails flicking tensely. This behaviour counter acted the fear she felt coursing through her, urging her legs to back the way she came, she would not show submission. Oh, Saint, she really had to work on her socializing skills. His smooth drawn out voice had the female lift her ears and pivot towards him, listening carefully to his words. She simply raised her brow to his greeting, before he began to speak again. Ah, so a lady’s man this one was, why am I not surprised? A tiny smirk twitched at black lip’s before she parted them, her high, sing song voice speaking lightly, clearly, much to her own surprise. ”My name is not ‘love’, and I would kindly ask that you refrain from calling me such. My name is Saint, sir...Rausting, pleasure to meet you. As for my reasoning to be out here, I have to assume that they would be similar to your own. Seeking out some shelter before night falls, and seeking solitude, so therefore I had no need of an escort.”

It was never really Saint’s intention to come off rude, despite the fact that it seemed so. She was never one for conversation, and she could already feel the irk of being in someone’s presence, she liked to be alone. She paused lightly, taking in a breath, before once again continuing on with speaking.

”Forgive me for being blunt, do you frequent the packs around here often? I am seeking information, and since you’re the first soul I’ve managed to wander upon, there is no harm in inquiring. Although, I would understand any allegiance you have to keep silent...”[/b]

Another feisty one no less, this did not shock him senseless however. Some she wolves liked to be more independent and he liked a babe that could be that way. He furrowed his brows at the idea that neither babe or love were good names. Nautic shrugged it off casually though as he listened to the rest of her speech. "Well pardon me Saint, what else am I to call a lovely lady whose name I do not know?" telling the honest truth as his eyes rested on her own. Nautic blinked when she mentioned finding shelter out in the prairie... guess it would be fairly nice for a change considering how cold the taiga was becoming at night. "Other packs? I would not know, sorry. I do not live here after all..." his other tails twitching with every move the female made. "I am of the Knights of Therian Order... I patrol the borders and such. See and approve of most new members for the Dortt or Alpha. Though I am debating moving somewhere a bit... less wintry." his mind wandering a bit again. [/scrolly]

Good luck to him for trying, but he wasn’t going to get anywhere with flirting. She attempted to ignore any amount of annoyance that bubbled to the surface, attempting to keep a calm voice. Although, her self control on agitation Saint found it to be her biggest challenge. ”How ‘bout Ma’am, miss...” Her words faded quietly with a few muttering’s including the word “respect”. Her pretentious thoughts were pushed aside as Rausting, or what she would now refer to him as began speaking once more, this time with information she actually found useful. As he finished and became silent, his eyes obviously glazed over with his own private thoughts she frowned slightly. Well drat, that wasn’t very useful, well, it was slightly, at least she could get as far as this pack as known as the “Knights”, anything was better than nothing after all. ”Are you aware of any such packs in warmer locations? Would you mind sharing information on your current pack? You see, I’m new to the area, and I’m highly interested in becoming a pack member... however, since all the regions around here reek of something different, I’m going to have to be cautious on where I wander into.” An ease had settled over Saint and she was able to relax, her tails lying lightly against the ground, as she pushed herself onto her haunches. Her eyes shifted away from the male, for a moment, to rest upon her paws, pink scars along her white and orange legs catching her gaze. Quickly, she adverted her eyes, and thoughts away, it wasn’t something worth fretting over, the past, it would only bring up unnecessary worry about her current mission to find a pack. Once more, she turned her attention back to the male in front of her. Her eyes gazed lazily over him, taking in information. Obviously, they shared the same species, a relief, she would have much rather ran into him than a large Yagi who could easily over power her. His striking eyes were of no surprise to her, having been raised in a pack made up of only Lyxxi, she assumed she had seen every eye color out there. His color though, Saint rarely ever saw anyone who resembled her in color, although his orange was lighter and in certain areas almost a cream color, she was so used to seeing more auburn’s and red colors that it came as a surprise to her. Although, what did she know, having been alone for so long, her experience was very biased and simple.

"we males are the ones who protect and provide for the pack, while the females can rest and know they are safe. They only need to provide pups for future lineage." finishing his sentence he gazed at the grass at his feet, as if something interesting had just appeared. Looking back up he scanned the area, this place was vacant was it not? He had not explored the Prairie much-but he would like to sometime. Maybe this babe wanted to take a tour with him? She seemed awfully pushy and self-centered... at least. That was Nautic's first impression of her. He really hoped she would lighten up as he got to err.... 'know' her. "Maybe..." he paused dryly for a moment to lick his lips and see if he could judge her expression based on his question. It sounded like a pretty easy going deal for the female’s, but what if one had the itch to be helpful? Saint wasn’t as so selfish to sit around and expect everything be given to her, not to mention the need for a challenge was something she strived for. So, the idea of the Order gave her a restless feeling in the pit of the stomach, she highly doubted she would go anywhere near it anytime soon, a possibility if all other situations are exhausted. She nodded in silence, to an understanding to his words. Well, that was a plus for him, he was at least in some ways helpful, and Saint smiled, kindly this time, in gratitude. His question had Saint taken aback, and surprised flashed across her face as she widened her grassy green eyes. She hesitated momentarily, weighing the pros and cons inside her head. If she went with him, the possibility of getting hurt was easy, and fear tugged at her feet again, wanting to propel her head speed the other way. However, on the other hand, he hadn’t made a move yet, and she could give him the benefit of the doubt. Not to mention, it would give her a better idea of the area that she had traveled so little as of so far, if there was anything to be found, four eyes were better than two. With a shaky sigh, Saint stood, and turned her gaze upon his own before allowing a smile to once more slip onto her features. ”I think that’s a splendid idea, Rausting. I have to assume then, that this would be your first time wandering upon this area, then? Fantastic. An adventure it is!” Saint’s high, melodic voice let out an almost song with the last of her sentence, despite her reservations about the company, it was very rare for her to turn down a chance to learn. With two graceful easy steps away, she turned and stared at her company lingering on his face a few moments, awaiting him to hope up and join her, before her gaze switched back to the prairie in front of her. Large grasses and flowers enveloped the dry ground, slowly dying as winter began to approach. What secrets did this place hold? ooc. I hope you don’t mind her calling him that, I thought it would be a good twist!

It didn't take the large male to spot a fallen tree nearby, quickening his pace he rushed up to it and began to investigate. What it smelt like, what it looked like, was someone else resting here out of the sun? The only thing that stood out was a lone jackalope that bolted from underneath his nose, the drab brown colors littered it's pelt. Big black beady eyes retreated away off into the horizon of the prairie. "Hmm.." he chuckled. "Not very hospitable, are they? Them jackalopes..." [/scrolly]

With an easy shrug, she continued walking along, treading lightly but yet still stirring up dust all around her tiger lily colour body. It was if the place had didn’t see much rain; she was surprised the amount of tiny plants could flourish in such an area. Her eyes danced back and forth between the surrounding area and her newly found companion, her ears pointed towards him, listening intently in case he decided to speak. She hardly noticed his speed increase, as she too, approached the log, but showed very little interest. Her tiny body immediately took on a defensive stance as the jackalope shot out from under the log. With hackles raised, and a growl sitting at the base of her chest, yet not let out, Saint felt almost foolish. Despite the fact that she often found herself hyper sensitive and alert, she rarely startled, especially to something so insignificant as prey. She could feel embarrassment and humiliation spreading through her, and she flicked her attention to her company. Had he taken notice to her reaction? The fact that she even wondered this made Saint uneasy. It was this new environment, open, threatening, and the fact that she didn’t travel alone, it had to be. When she found herself traveling alone, in dense brush, Saint never felt anything but content. This was absurd! It was her own choosing to wander out of her comfort zone, and in that moment, Saint set it in her mind to stop over reacting. A fake smile flitted to her black lips, as she took in deep, shaky breath, attempting to calm her heart and keep her voice at a steady, calm pace. ”I wouldn’t be so welcoming of something that could potentially eat me either... Perhaps we should press on. I don’t mean to show disinterest, but, if there is anything of interest to be found, I don’t believe it will be found in a mere log. We gotta go bigger than that.”

His gaze on her again, as he started to trot ahead. "but we can't live life in fear constantly or we will never find what it is in life we are really and truly looking for. In which case..." he laughed lightheartedly before continuing "I don't even know what that would be, what are we looking for anyw-" he bounced back in pain as he ran into something hard...wooden. "Whoa! Look at this!" he stared the huge maple tree, towering over the small lyxxi with it's silver bark and branches. It's roots digging into the rough dirt forcefully. It had to be centuries old to be so large in size. Nautic started to circle around it before a loud yip escaped his maw, disappearing from sight, when really all that had become of the large lyxxus was that he simply slipped down a well hidden drop off on the opposite side of the tree. "Hey! Look at this! The roots grab the side of the drop off and make a tunnel!" The large lyxxus finding it spacious and easy enough to crawl into, he began to explore it's depths' his cat-like eyes lighting the tunnels up brightly enough as he adjusted.[/scrolly]
