Above the silvery mists, the sky was darkening into the rich purple of the twilight with stars beginning to appear. But the silver green cael couldn't see the sky. In fact she couldn't see anything, not even her paws and she was lying down. This weather unnerved her; her eyes could not help her here nor can her nose. Perhaps it is only ears that are able to work almost as well but her couldn't. Never could. Tortoiseshell knew she was at her most vulnerable at this situation and knew that the most sensible thing she could do now is find shelter and wait the fog out. But her stomach roared.
She knew she could not be patient with her stomach growling and that it makes sense to hide out underwater and hunt at the same time. She lifted her slender body away from the white sands and started her search for the ocean. The cael remembered that there are cliffs behind her while she rested so... She should try moving away the cliffs, forwards to, hopefully, water. Tor assumed that it would be a short distance, even though she knew she would move a slightly slower than normal due to her carefulness. But she anticipated that she would be there before long...
How wrong she was. There was faint sea scent but she had no idea how far the water is; she has been moving for a while, long while now. All of her fearful posture has been replaced with anxiety and anger. Here and there she growled occasionally, venting her stress out. With the recent snarling, the normally happy cael hurried her steps, inserting the anxious rage into them. Then her front legs buckled down, causing her to fall, chest first. Her torso slammed down on her front legs and pain shot up her limbs. Her throat vibrated with the beginning of another growl when she realised that there were water beneath her. Her legs didn't just collapsed; they transformed. Gleefully she used her remaining back legs to push herself forwards into the sea.
Now that her body has completely changed, she decided to relax a bit, easing all of previous tensions out of her body. Tortoiseshell was lying on the beach, half submerged in the water with, as usual, her belly up and exposed. Her voice rolled with happy sounds of both glee and relief.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [bg=00c5cd] So, apparently, Nelio was not as stupid as some may have thought, or perhaps today he had run out of ambition. For the past few weeks he had spent nearly all his time running along the beach, and falling, though not nearly as much as some of his comrades, but being that most of them were females he had no problem at least being close on hand to help or give advice if needed. He felt as though they were really making progress, and by being on the beach many of them were interacting with all different kinds of wolves and visitors, which he knew in the end would be more fruitful for their cause. He was up earlier than usual today, although he attributed that to the sheer amount of fog.
As it had rolled in to the Cove it made the air taste thicker, the salt from the ocean seemed to enter his nose in crystallized form, and it was not but a few moments before he rolled on his side and began to sneeze intensely. His intake of breath made his sides heave and he quickly rose to his feet, and blew sand across his caved in den before backing out slowly. Hoping that he could get a fresh taste of air he was sadly disappointed to not be able to see but a few lengths in front of himself, and hardly at that. This was a dangerous time, and for a few moments he pondered on finding the others in his group to make sure they were okay, and not in any perilous situations that may require help.
He decided against that however, he trusted that each of the others could see how dangerous the fog could be, and either would take shelter somewhere safe, or even in the water might be better at this point. Looking out over the fog to where he heard the waves lapping along the sand he smiled, fog or no fog there was no better sound in the world than that of water kissing onto the land in soft, gentle waves or a sound much like a roaring animal. Shaking out his pelt he stepped further from his cave and looked around. He could smell the paw prints and scents of other wolves, and could even hear the small steps of birds and a animals who seemingly strayed too close to the water only to turn and run back in the opposite direction.
With a smile and a large yawn he licked his maw and began to set off, if nothing else for a swim to tire himself out again till night time however if the fog remained through the night he would not see himself in the water or on the beach at night where he might be vulnerable. Nope, not even as a strong and brave male would he be so un-intelligent. He moved slowly, feeling his muscles tighten in his legs as he sank into the sand, and while it was painful he enjoyed knowing that he would be able to travel further by doing such exercises each day. It was at this point that he found himself hearing laughing and little sounds coming from in front of him.
Of course he didn’t see until it was too late and his body stumbled and fell over the wolf in front of him. “Oomph” He scrambled to his feet and began to apologize immediately, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to step on you…I mean of course I didn’t it’s just this stupid fog, I don’t know how a frog could even see where he was leaping for this stuff..” He began to snort sound from his snout as his shook himself out, of course the water that had turned the female in front of him, had also come up and in a wave of water transformed his newly strengthened legs into the bright blue mermaid fin that would take over his lower body. His blue speckled pelt seemed to come to life with the transformation and he tilted his head wondering, even though his slightly fogged mind why she didn’t speak…”I really am sorry…my name is Nelio…would you mind giving me yours, even though I stepped on you?” He was humiliated but would never turn away a chance to meet someone new..

In fact, she held this very moment so dearly near her heart. She started to roll joyfully underwater; her spine brushing the sandy seabed roughly sending thick dusts swirling in water. Her long thick tail slammed the water surface hard, splashing the salty liquid into the air as glittery droplets. This moment was special to her because she was worried that she would not find the sea. She knew it was silly of her to worry, but she was so caught up in the moment of panic and anxiety. Her turtle-like flippers moved to her chest with some splashing motions as if she was hugging the precious salty water. She shut her silver eyes, imagining that she was the only wolf in the sea. In the world. A naive grin stretched on her slender snout as she drifted off to her own world...
Suddenly the air was forced out of her. Tor snapped her eyes open with alarm and her muzzle parted sharply, inhaling the thick fog air with a painful shudder. Pain and fear was evident in her wide eyes as she retreated hurriedly into the deeper water noisily with all of her tail muscles tense, preparing to flee if necessary. With some more shaking breaths, she broke surface and started to search for her assailant but, with the thick grey mist wreathing around her, it was tough. She was searching at the surface, so the thought of him being a cael didn't occur to her until his face popped in front of her. Tortoiseshell drew backwards in fright until she saw an apology clear on his tawny face and on his moving jaws.
She stared at his lips, almost as if she would suddenly understand the sounds, with her ears twitching helplessly. Then her gaze snapped upwards to his silver eyes as the silver-green cael withdrew into her mind. There Tortoiseshell started to grope blindly for the stranger's mind but she couldn't find even a single spark of familiarity and the beginning of the mind-breaking process. The emptiness didn't surprise her but she did feel disappointed. Sighing, she blinked into reality and started to look at the stranger, this time more searchingly. He has stopped speaking and was looking directly at her. From what she can see through the almost opaque grey sheet, the face in front of her was handsome and very masculine, and the floating shoulders of his were very muscular. Through the shimmering surface of water she can see the gleaming blue of his fish half. Then to his face again, Tor grinned; now she felt relaxed once again now that she knew that the male cael didn't mean any harm.
Almost once she started her usual way to indicate her deafness; the shaking of head then the twitching her ears. No. Hearing. Her eyes showed her hope as she waited to see whether he would get it or not. Some wolves did get it after the first attempt while others needed some more tries. Almost randomly she stretched her slender muzzle into a happy grin again; this wolf could be her new friend.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [bg=00c5cd] The whole scenario just seemed so odd to Nelio, he has taken aback, he had never stepped on any one before, let alone a female. Even when he had inhabited the swamp and there were plenty of things in the swamp to step on, he rarely ever took a wrong step. It was slightly unnerving as he stared into the fog where the female had been. He still didn’t hear her say anything, and was concerned that he had actually hurt her, he heard the sound she made as she tried to inhale and exhale after the initial step. He had also heard her noisy fleeing into the water, as though he would attack her.
Technically he couldn’t blame her for scurrying into the water, after all it was a Cael’s safe place, very few wolves could swim in any deep water, especially ocean water which turned and rolled with the waves and currents. Most Cael were completely familiar with all different types of water, slow moving creeks and streams, fast moving rivers and rapids, and of course the rolling sea. His tail having been fully formed he knew he could get into the water with her, but perhaps remaining at a slight distance would let her know he was not a threat…
He knew what he must have looked like, poking his head forward through the fog to see her own frightened face, which he was again immediately sorry for…in fact the main word out of his mouth seemed to be sorry, it was not like him to hurt a female for any reason even accidentally. He found it odd she still had no spoken even though they were staring at each other, her being half submerged in the water, and he sitting on the sand, being pushed slightly by the rolling in water. His tail slowly slithered over the sand and in the water, seemingly wagging happily to see her, even while waiting patiently.
Because he did not attack her, or hurt her, he could finally see her smile, acknowledging that he meant no harm. Yet still no words rumbled from her throat to his waiting ears. They sat there in silence staring at each other, and for once Lio’s mind found peace. He didn’t not bother to speak much more than he had, simply enjoying what moment there was to be had between this new female and himself. The ocean thundered through his mind, the gentle lapping in the background. The smell of salt, and sand, and very little trees mingled with fog to enter his nose.
He was so entranced with her face, when she began to move her head and shook her head from side to side indicating a no answer, his eyes to her ears which were twitching back and forth, ears, hearing, ’Can’t hear you?’ His brain was trying to piece if together and for a moment he looked confused, surely he had spoken loud enough for her to hear… ‘No..hear..DEAF’, she was deaf! His eyes lit up in understanding and he nodded to her that he had indeed gotten the message. When he saw her face light up in a smile, his own brightened and he slid into the water next to her. When he surfaced next to her, he rolled on his back and splashed her playfully with his tail. No harm seemed to be done to her, and she seemed friendly so Lio had no compulsions about not playing in the water with her.
[[Should be interesting…]]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true] | [atrb=width,453,true][atrb=background,http://i53.tinypic.com/nb525z.pngh][scrolly:h(173),w(453),sy] Tortoiseshell was so used seeing the confusion turning into despair or panic at the potential lack of communication so she half-expected to see the similar expression upon the male's handsome face. Even with the thought, the same naive grin was still on her face; she knew if the panic did happen Tor would try everything she can to prove him wrong. But it soon became clear that she didn't have to; the face in front of her brightened and she watched his body sliding farther into the water before appearing next to her.
She shifted, starting trying to say something when the blue fin of the male's splashed at her. Her soaked face gave an indignant but amused look before disappearing from the surface. Underwater, the lithe cael went under the blue finned male and nipped his fin playfully before diving even deeper. The descending female was exhilarated; firstly because she has another friend, and secondly because he was the first cael she has met for ages (and thirdly the depth probably was giving her the rush). Sure there was one some time ago but they got lost somehow. It was possible the past cael had lost interest and swam away. Tor knew she could be a challenge but she thinks her optimist attitude does make up for it.
She glanced behind her to see whether the other cael is chasing her or not. He wasn't like Crow; the yagi is a land bound animal and naturally he has some problem being underwater and swimming. His bulky physique wasn't the greatest assist to have underwater. The cael shivered inwardly as she remembered the near-drowning incident; she wouldn't be surprised if he refused to go near to any body of water any time soon. Her thoughts went back to the male cael. Most importantly, he was a cael and is able to swim without any difficulty. She smiled again as she remembered his smile. Tortoiseshell was happy to have a friend who can swim.
The light faded slowly as the diamond-finned cael went deeper before she suddenly remembered that she wasn't a fish; she needed a sensible amount of distance between her and the surface so, if needed, she can go up for a breath without any dangerous struggle. Going any deeper would be almost a suicide. So she pulled up and whipped around to see if the other cael is following her and waited to see what he'll do next.

The fact that the female was deaf would not change Lio’s view of her, she would still be pretty, even if she could not hear what he was saying. Because he watched the bodies of so many females and males alike on his travels and other places he was used to reading more into what a wolf’s body said than what came out of their mouth. Lio was quite intelligent when it really came down to it. There was a brain behind his beautiful pelt and tail. The fact that a smile was universal really saved him in many situations, he had encountered loss and pain but he chose to live in the now, and the now was looking pretty good. He woke up every day knowing that at any time anything could happen.
It gave his life a lot of…well a lot more spontaneity but also a lot more meaning than he ever thought possible. He saw the look of indignation across her face before she became amused with his antics. He watched her dive, and fully expected her to rise and splash him again, although that is not what she did, she went under him and nipped his fin playfully. A yip escaped his maw and he immediately rose on his belly to look around for her to surface, but she didn’t. Which was fine for Lio he would simply dive and chase her!
He slipped beneath the water after he took a long breath. His fin and paws immediately began to push him after her, deeper and deeper. The look within his eyes was completely friendly, but determined to catch her as well. This was what he had been looking for just nights ago, someone to play with, to just be Cael with. Tawny was a lovely companion but he knew where her mind was, it would be hard for her to be playful while her sister was on her mind. Jade’s disappearance worried him as well but he was not her family.
He darted this way and that as he chased the female through the water and continued to dive down through the depths, but his mind was always aware of just how far they were going. Eventually all Cael had to breathe. It was true they could hold their breath for a very long time but unless you were built for it, natural pressure was enough to hurt any organism not suited. When he saw that she had stopped he darted ahead, missing her head by perhaps an inch. He whipped around and dipped lower to nip her back, neck and finally her own fin before he stopped in front of her.
He gave her his version of an underwater smile and began a race to the surface. They were quite a ways down and he could feel the weight of the water coming down on them both. He would race her to the surface and see if he could ask her questions, or at least listen to her speak for the first time. As he raced to the surface and light began to reappear within the water he gleamed, and even though he was blue he stood out in the water like a beacon for her to follow. He would race as much as he could, natural competition would take over and he of course wanted to win…

[/img] [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true] | [atrb=width,453,true][atrb=background,http://i53.tinypic.com/nb525z.pngh][scrolly:h(173),w(453),sy] The silver-green cael could just see through the swirling darkness of the depths; she spotted some occasionally fishes and a rushing shadow. She knew immediately that it was the cael thanks to the faint blue gleam of his scales. Then her cheek fur swayed as something rushed against it before she knew he was behind her. As she attempted to turn to face him, she felt a harmless pinch on her back, neck and finally her fin. Tortoiseshell squealed bubbly before seeing his face in front of her once again. The pinching sensation lingered on her nipped areas as if he was still nipping her.
Curiously Tor was beginning to feel awed by this brown and blue cael. His water body which was shorter than hers by an inch or two yet he was just as swift and was able to move gracefully and with an obvious power. She was intrigued by this as she rarely met any caella despite the fact she practically lived at Yvit Cove, a well-known haven for the water wolves. The male diver was so ordinarily coloured onshore even though he was built so handsomely, but in water he appeared even more handsome with his beautiful fin. Tor, on other hand, was unique on either land or sea thanks to her traditional cael's aqua colourings. Every single cael she had seen were brightly coloured with blues, greens and silvers. The male had set himself apart from those caella and this interested her.
Her thoughts ended when she saw his smile. Then his body began its swift climb toward the surface, giving Tor a little time to react; she only barked (releasing some bubbles) once before chasing after him. Her long tail propelled her upward, forcing her to get closer to the racing wolf. She gave a soundless laugh as she felt the water rushing through her short hairs and over her scaly flippers and tail. As she saw him getting closer to their finishing line, she yelped, completely overwhelmed by her competitive spirit, and started to move her flippers until they were against her sides and the tail flapped madly. Tortoiseshell was a living torpedo, slim and speedy.
She had never raced like this before. Usually she would chase and butting others playfully before relaxing happily. Crow was a prime example; she played with him for a while before returning ashore to have a nap with him at least once. But this... The male cael was bringing up the wild competitive side of Tortoiseshell she didn't know she had. She was alarmed at this but wasn't alarmed enough to stop it. In fact she was enjoying this intense feeling; it felt like she was going to burst with raw joy and wild exhilaration.
She realised that she was beginning to overtake the cael. Without the flippers to control her body, she missed him (when she was intending to butt him) and was darting straight at the surface. Her feminine form broke the surface completely and spun once in the air before slamming down the water clumsily and hurt her side in the process. She whined when she broke the surface once again, but much more gently, head bobbing and waited for the male.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [bg=00c5cd]The other Cael female interested him, intrigued him, to live in a world without the ability to hear astounded him. Yet she seemed so happy, and even loving and he had only known her minutes, it could be smitten or it could be intrigue. At this point so much water whirled past his ears he could not think or hear anything himself. It was oddly comforting and he wondered if this was how she felt on a daily basis, he could see the positives and the negatives honestly. Her bubbly squeal did resound though and he found himself smiling..so cute.
He knew the exercise and running through the sand was helping and his tough swimming lessons at night had strengthened his tail beyond merely bobbing along ever would. With contentment he surged ahead, not seeing the fact that might become competitive or ever catch up with him. His silver colored eyes gleamed under the water and reflected the light from the clouds and such above the water. He could see the surface coming closer and closer..and closer! He would have never thought that in a few moments she would completely overtake and beat him in his own race, which he had started!
Lio had never thought of himself as ordinary, I mean he had a fish half for the bottom half of his body whenever he was wet, it was odd to say the least, and he had met Tawny and she was brown, much like he was. But he did notice her bright coloring and it made him wonder if deep down there was something wrong with him. Was he an imperfect Cael because his coloring was off? The very idea disturbed him for some reason. He began to question why his fin was so colorful and he had speckles but not real odd coloring of any sort. His mind began to get lost in these thoughts, questioning and worrying..
Her yelps and barks were the small, not even loud sounds which broke through his seemingly endless thought train, and he felt her coming up on him, and faster than he would have thought she could ever swim! Even as he was pushing himself harder and harder, he somehow knew she was going to break onto the surface before him. Resigned as he was he continued pushing, harder, faster, longer strokes of his tail. He saw her disappear from the water a few seconds before his motion propelled him with force into the air. He tucked his tail in under him as he felt his head break into air.
Seemingly in slow motion, his tail tucked he pushed his front paws down into what looked to be the best cannonball a wolf, even with a fin was capable of. With a hardy splash he fell back into the waters, taking most of the impact through his neck and back, which hurt but he would never admit it, especially not to a female he might be trying to impress here over time. The collision with the water knocked him out of it for a moment, but when he was able to right himself he swam again, leisurely to the surface. On the way her open backside as he came to the air above. He bobbed with her, he would have loved to tell her his name, but he didn’t know how, or if she would understand….instead he pushed his nose forward, touching her face, and her side lightly and then made a grimace of pain..it was his best way of asking if she had hurt herself…

Tortoiseshell had been trying to impress her new friend with her speed and ended up hurting her side. She twitched her ears self-consciously; hopefully he hadn't seen that, and, to disguise her awkwardness, she plastered on a large smile on her face. Beneath her she spotted the rippling shape of the cael rushing upward before finally bursting out of the water before falling down. But, in just a second, Tor had seen him curled up into a ball while being in the air. She giggled at that; that was strange. She didn't think she had seen a trick similar to that before and wondered if it was possible for her to do that with her long tail. It would be awkward for her with her long, thick tail curled in her chest but she would like to try it anyway.
The image was interrupted when the face of the male cael bobbed up above the shivering sea. She felt his nose rubbing her face gently and saw the pain expression upon his handsome face. Was he hurt? Her eyes darted up and down at him in concern. Nothing seemed wrong with him. She wrinkled her muzzle in confusion. The face obviously showed pain, so that clearly meant pain. Then she remembered the touch of his nose. Me? Was he pointing at me? The memory returned in her mind, the brush on her face then the pain look on his face. Oh! Realisation was evident on her pretty face, especially in her gleaming silver eyes. She was quick to answer with a smiling shrug. Doesn't matter.
Tortoiseshell was embarrassed by that silly moment so she preferred to dismiss it. Sure, she could shake her head and lie but the green wolf wasn't a liar. Either by intention or nature, she was a very open creature, there was practically no secrets being hidden in this female. It could be because she had none or she couldn't see the reason something had to be kept a secret. As far as she knew, hiding something doesn't help you get more friends nor help you to be a better person. Tor liked her potential friends to know everything about her because that might help them to understand her better.
She wiggled her tail slightly causing ripples underwater, sending her bobbing roughly. Her mind started to reach out for his again; there was something. A tiniest tiny spark but still there was something, and that made her happy. It might take couple of days or so, but the caella would be able to understand each other soon. That caused a grin to appear on her face once again. She nudged at him and licked her lips before looking back to the depths. Fish? The fog was fading slowly but surely. Maybe after they have hunted together they could get back ashore and maybe try to introduce themselves to each other. Her fur prickled with the curiosity, what was this wolf's name? She hoped it was something she can imagine, just like Crow's. Or at least short enough so that she can speak it properly after a few practices.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [bg=00c5cd]There was such joy in his time here with Tor, he wished for it to never end. He wanted desperately to ask her to come traveling with Tawny and himself, and any others they could find along the way. With just spending a few hours with her he found himself happier than he had been in weeks, imagine what her presence could do for Tawny, or others! She could truly bring joy to their traveling act, he was sure many others would love her as he was growing to care for her. Even though they had just met he enjoyed her company immensely and knew if it came down to it he would protect her, and protect the peace that surrounded her.
Lio had never thought of a world without speech, a world without sound, but now that he was exposed to it he wondered if she ever became sad at not being able to hear entirely. But when he thought about it, could you ever miss what you had never experienced? If you had never swam, could not swim, and never lived near water could you miss it? Lio knew that if he were separated from the water for a long time he became cranky and irritable. He would miss it because he had grown up around the sea now, and fresh water during his time with his family, even now as he loved the sea he desired a long jump off a high falls…he almost salivated thinking about it he missed it so.
In his attempt to impress her Lio was also practicing he had not given up on the idea of the traveling circus, but he had made some changes to the original plan and it made it better if he was honest with himself. If he could just get more members they could actually begin serious practice and begin to travel and get to know the local packs. It was just a matter of time, and he was stubborn and persistent enough to cling to the idea no matter how many times it seemed to fail. When he had tried to ask if she was hurt, he saw her expression of concern and he own changed, although to what he was not sure. He shook his head and thought about repeating the motion. Communication in any form always had misunderstandings.
When she brushed off being hurt with a smile and a shrug he nodded and bobbed, with a smile returning to his face. Relief was evident though, he did not want to think that his idea of a race had caused her any pain of discomfort, it was simply his way of playing he supposed. As they both sat there for a long moment of silence and bobbed his mind became very alert all of a sudden, and his head seemed to pound. He wrinkled his nose slightly and shook his head, maybe too much sunlight for him…regardless he shook himself and watched as she licked her lips and looked down…hungry…food…fish! His head nodded enthusiastically and he quickly dived beneath the surface. He had come hunting here with Sylva too and they had eaten to their heart’s content.
The fact that he was brown and not brightly colored did work towards his advantage in the ocean, at least for hunting. He would swim inwards, almost toward the shallows, where he could reach the bottom without being endangered of being too far down. Here schools of fish gathered for the minerals and the plant life that grew and Nelio grinned looking towards Tor. He dive bombed to the ground and began kicking up sand, and with the already rolling waves, the fish were temporarily confused as Lio darted in and out of the school snapping up two to three fish, as many as he could carry before looking over as the sand settled to see her technique..

Tortoiseshell felt happy when she saw relief in the opposite cael's face. He cared about her. This showed that he was a lovely wolf and this made her even more happy. She knew that there are wolves in this landmass can be vicious, unpleasant and worse, uncaring. So far she had met one, a green yagi with dangerously sharp horns (Sparta was the name, Crow later showed her). She shivered involuntarily as she thought about that time. She had been so afraid, frightened for her life and she had never felt fear like that before that. Tortoiseshell thought it was a miracle that she and her yagi friend had escaped that shadow monster.
With some difficulty she dragged her mind away from the frightening event with the violent yagi into the tranquil reality with the friendly cael. His friendly gaze anchored her to present and she was grateful. The silver green cael watched him respond her request with a few quick nods before sinking under the surface and she followed him without hesitation. Once she was underwater she saw her friend dashing off to pursue his own prey and decided to watch him for a while. Tortoiseshell liked to use her own techniques but she loved it if she could learn some new ones.
As he descended Tortoiseshell began to notice that his drab-coloured coat was very useful in hunting. Soon, in the murky water, she struggled to distinguish him from the sandy seabed clearly as he went off to the shallows. Compared to the brown cael, Tor stood out starkly under the water: bright silvery green against the deep blueness of the water and her long tail wasn't helping her to camouflage. As she stared at her friend's pelt and started to envy him which she never ever imagined she would. The cael loved her own coat and was so proud of the colours her coat sported. But after seeing the fellow cael in his hunting mode, she realised that her pale coat was a disadvantage... But then she had many successful hunts in her life so far. At the thought she perked up again; a bright coat or no bright coat Tor was a good hunter.
She returned her attention back to her friend. Her skin prickled as she met his grin. She responded it with her one of her cheerful smiles (even though it wasn't actually gone from her face) and watched him starting his hunt. She swam a little closer to get a better look and saw him throwing up sand and some confused fishes being dispatched. Why, she never thought about using sand while hunting. It was an interesting thought. She chuckled, she would love to try it out someday... She knew she would. Her joy was broke off abruptly as she saw his expectant face. He was waiting for something from her. Did he want to see her hunting style? Sure. Tortoiseshell was more than happy to show off to her new friend.
She made a sharp turn and darted off in the opposite direction toward the deeper part of the ocean. Shortly she spotted a school of fish and she moved swiftly toward it. Judging its shape and silver sheen it was a school of bar jacks. One of her favourite fish. Eagerly and hungrily she began to plan her hunt out hastily while still moving closer. Tortoiseshell doesn't hunt more than two fish at once, normally because she didn't have to. Her strategies are often quick and short and this wasn't an exception. With an excited squeak, she cut through the school and chased a fish toward the surface. When it was close enough she whipped her tail around. It slammed against the delicate body of the fish with a such brute force that it shot up from the surface before falling down into Tortoiseshell's gaping mouth.
She caught it neatly before diving down and swimming toward her friend, smiling almost smugly. Her smugness quickly faded into cheerfulness, it was about time for them to eat. Tortoiseshell glanced at the cael then to the rippling sky before swimming toward it. Breaking surface she began her way to shore with many glances over her shoulder to check if her friend was coming. She guessed that it was time for introductions; the cael was desperate to know her friend's name.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [bg=00c5cd]Truly it would be impossible not to feel endeared to the female in front of him. Not only was she beautiful even in her silence, as that was all he had heard from her so far. She seemed so very innocent, and pure. That was not to say she wasn’t touched by the things that touched all wolves, hate, rage, anger, prejudice and many other negative feelings. It just seemed as though she lived in a world of smiles and she did not seem to let things get to her. He longed to tell her about his idea for the circus, to be able to connect and communicate with her beyond the scope of looks and facial expressions. Lio wondered many things about her, where she had come from, was she alone, did she have a mate. He worried that she did not know very far from here was the pack known as the Mafia, they were a brutish type of pack with seemingly little regard for any wolf who didn’t maim or kill.
For a moment worry flashed across his face, not being able to imagine what might happen to her if one of those wolves found her. Resolve set within his mind to find a way to communicate with her in some way, to warn her, maybe even convince her as his new friend to come traveling with him and Tawny. He was sure the other brown Cael would love to meet her, and would be just as taken as he was with her seemingly innocent charm. He knew she was staying back and watching him as he hunted for his lunch, which he didn’t mind, in a lot of ways he had to think different than a normal Cael because he wasn’t colored quite exotically as most. But in his mind he thought it made him better, perhaps even more easily acceptable by those who were not Caella.
After he had gotten his food and was waiting for the sand to die down a bit he thought about his own kind for a long moment, he had to adapt in his own way which was not unlike the female in front of him. He was sure she had to make her own changes to the way she did things because she was so noticeable, and without hearing he was sure interested in how she would hunt and how she did so many other things. He was worried though, without hearing how did she sleep soundly knowing she was safe? Who watched over her to make sure no one hurt her in the night, or darkness, or fog as the kind they had met under. He couldn’t help but think of all scenarios, especially since she was female and he was quite the protective type.
He held onto his food, stretching out his mouth to the max with his catch as he happily watched her take off to catch her own. Now that the sand had settled what light there was to be had from the surface bounced off his blue speckles, and even caught the metallic silver of his eyes. He swam in a small circle of excitement as he watched her enter predatory mode. He watched in amazement as she cut a fish from the school, as most land wolves cut a deer, chased it down and then used her tail in an amazing feat of strength to knock it silly and into the air before surfacing herself and catching it. He made excited noises under the water as he swam quickly to join her and show his amazement at her style. Then they both made their way to the surface.
They both began moving toward the shore, Lio carefully dragging himself through the waves to reach the sandy beach behind her and dropping his fish and re-tightening his smile, his tongue lolled out his mouth happily, giving her the biggest smile. He was still in amazement of how she had caught her fish and he looked down at it and then back up to her with a big smile. Then, not letting a moment waste he began to eat and slice through the tender skin of his lunch and began eating quietly. But he kept his eyes on her wondering just how they would communicate with each other. While she was desperate to know his name, he was just as desperate to know anything about the pretty female in front of him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true] | [atrb=width,453,true][atrb=background,http://i53.tinypic.com/nb525z.pngh][scrolly:h(173),w(453),sy] The silver green cael's insides swirled happily when she had saw how she had impressed him with her hunting. It was a nice feeling. Tortoiseshell liked impressing others, especially him. It made her feel she had achieved something. That she had showed others that she was capable of doing something amazing. That she didn't feel useless. She wrinkled her muzzle slightly as she arrived the shore. Tor did feel unworthy sometimes despite her constantly cheerful outlook; she knew she wouldn't worth something in a pack. A pack wolf would have to be able-bodied, every senses working well to provide something useful in their pack. A deaf wolf... She couldn't hear nor speak so communication would be extremely tough in a pack because of the number of wolves. One or two at time would be just fine but in a group she knew she would struggle and got left out. A mournful thought for someone loved to socialise.
Tortoiseshell shook her head and turned to look over her wet shoulder once more to check on her new friend. He was following her and soon pushed himself up the sand. Tor did the same but with a little more struggle. The cael's great tail curled up behind her and pushed and her body moved forward, her flippers slamming the sand. With those two, she started to drag herself so slowly up the beach before swinging her tail around so that it was out of the water. She rolled onto her back and, with a quick turn of head, she dropped her bar jack. Tor hated this part, the scrabbling for dry land and waiting for the transformation. She looked at the sky; fog was definitely clearing and the warm sun was penetrating through the grey atmosphere.
Her slender head fell against the sand and she saw the male cael smiling at her again before shifting his attention to one of his fish. From that, she could tell that he was still as impressed as he was before. This sent some warm tingling sensation up her body. She didn't bore or fail him. He was just as entertained at her. Tor raised her head and torso, mouth apart with a pink tongue lolling out in a wide grin before moving her fish closer to her body. She didn't feel like eating. She was way too interested in him, especially his name. She watched him like he watched her, the want to communicate was easy to spot between two wolves. She quickly remembered Crow and how they introduced each other. A tortoise's shell for Tortoiseshell, and the rough scrawling in the sand for Crow. She sniffed sharply, the shell. It was tucked away in her tiny home nearby but there was no way for her to move while in her water form. Well, she had to make do without it this time.
How did Crow say her name? She shook her head. She knew how her name looked on lips but was very unsure with speaking it out loud. Hesitatingly, she moved her lips, forming her name. Tor. It would be hard for her, and perhaps him as well, if she decided to try her full name. She repeated it, gaining enthusiasm and confidence with each one and nodded, smiling hopefully. This was the first time she had ever did it and she wouldn't be surprised if this failed. She would not be discouraged either; after all she has a plan B back home.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [bg=00c5cd]Lio could feel something happening within his heart and head. It was sort of the same he felt for Tawny but slightly different. With Tawny he felt as though she were like a sister to him, the one that got away, and the one who would stay by his side no matter what. They had just talked about staying together until they were too old to travel or entertain anymore. It couldn’t get any better than to have Tawny, but he felt himself staring at the female in front of him, without realizing he was smiling a very large smile. Yes he liked Tor, and having only spent a few hours with her it was odd and a new feeling to him to experience. He would have to think on this for a long time when he was alone and figure out exactly what was going on within the pit of his stomach besides the growling for the fish he had caught.
Lio loved the fact that they hadn’t needed words between them, at least not yet anyway. He paid particularly close attention to her eyes, which were beautiful, and her body language, which caused parts of his brain to twitch and light up. But that seemed to be enough to get their point across, and so far they had had fun, or at least he had. Lio felt refreshed and not in any way constricted like he had when he had been a member of a pack, even though he was fine doing the duties that he had been given there was just something about the constraint of staying in one location that bothered him, immensely. When he had decided to move on he met Tawny, his only closest friend and adopted family member, and now he had met this female, beautiful and intriguing. It could only confirm that he had made the right choice.
He watched as she lay in the sand, the few sun beams that fell from the sky twinkled against her wet pelt and tail, it was an endearing sight to the least. He was enjoying it thoroughly before his stomach growling interrupted and his mind went predatory to enjoy his meal. Within moments his three fish were gone down to the bones even, to which he quickly moved them into a hole made by his front paws and covered back to avoid bringing scavengers to the beach, some might not have been dangerous but enough together built their courage to take on more “live prey” and he had no wish to ever wake to seeing the carcasses of anyone he cared about or felt protective for.
He noticed however, that she had not eaten her fish yet and his eyes turned a concerned look to her face. He tried to ask if she felt okay or if she felt sick and did not want to eat, he was hoping she was okay and had not pushed off an injury in the water only to have it come and nip her now that she was on land. His eyes roamed over her to see any possible injury but instead his attention was caught back on her face as she seemed to be sounding out a word. At least her mouth was moving as though that was what she was doing. “T….To….Tor…..“ His ears fell forward trying to grasp the look and sound of what she was trying to say. His eyes clouded over with confusion. His brain said there should be more…that Tor was not a word….but his eyes opened…it might not be a word but it could be a name!
‘A name, she’s trying to give you her name you idiot!!’ His brain screeched to a halt and his eyes brightened…”Tor! Your name is Tor!…” He spoke aloud as though she could hear him and then he colored red under his fur to the tip of his tail. He shook his head angrily with himself. ‘It’s not as though she could hear you, you imbecile…’ But now how did he show her what his name was? He couldn’t sound his name out she would not understand…He didn’t know if she knew anything about stars but it was closest she would probably get to his name. He put his nose and paw to the ground in front of her and drew out a constellation, roughly but still visual. It was the constellation ‘Leo’, when he connected the lines, she would still be able to see the star like points, to let her know it was Lio and not Lion, but he tried to nose in the details of a mane and a cat like face as best he could between paw and nose.
When he was done he looked down at the drawing and then up at the sky, to try to give her the point that it was a constellation made of stars, he didn’t know if she knew anything about them, and if she didn’t, he wouldn’t know how to ever communicate his name to her. The thought made him sad, and his tail went completely limp behind him in the sand, and he tried to mask it within his eyes, but he knew her name, it would be terribly unfair for her to never know his. He tried to keep his eyes passive, and continued to look at the drawing and then the sky and then back down to her to see if this would work. For the first time he wished he had been named something easier.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true] | [atrb=width,453,true][atrb=background,http://i53.tinypic.com/nb525z.pngh][scrolly:h(173),w(453),sy] This cael was interesting; Tor didn’t think she had seen one like this one before. The way he held himself and moved, it was not without grace and majesty. She knew she moved a bit clumsier and often without purpose compared to this cael. It was this and his regal aura that made her admire him. She enjoyed watching him with whatever he was doing; hunting, resting or even eating. He was different compared with her, yet they enjoyed each other’s company. He was even happy to try and ‘talk’ to her. She chuckled as she remembered only hours ago this cael had trodden on her belly. Who knew that odd meeting would lead to this?
This was a much happier meeting compared to her and Crow’s. Sure they had started off nicely with a leisure swimming and diving but the near drowning experience wasn’t pleasant. But later on, at night it was lovely. That, she guessed, was what formed their friendship for good. Then Tor wondered if she and this male cael would be as close. Crow and Tortoiseshell’s personalities and past were similar but she wasn’t sure about this cael. He was definitely wonderful so far, but she didn’t know the every detail concerning him. After all he might have a mate and a few children of his own. The thought filled her with distaste. Tor didn’t want to think that this cael was tied down, bounded by something. That, to her opinion, would restrict their freedom to do whatever they wanted.
She was distracted as she felt warmth spreading down her body. Soon Tor saw that her water half had transformed, and with a smile, she turned onto her belly and stood up. Happy to feel her paws again, she made a small circle before settling down again in front of him. Her tail wagged happily as she saw realisation creeping in his silver eyes. When she saw her name being exclaimed on his lips she leapt up on her paws, tail wagging madly. He got it! She didn’t expect this but he did get it! She barked once before letting her tongue fall over her teeth, panting excitedly as she watched him being annoyed with himself. She giggled before moving to touch him in the neck; he must have tried to talk to her. It didn’t matter. He knew her name and that was important to her.
The green cael retreated a bit as she saw him starting to do something with sand. She inclined her head, curious with what he was trying to draw out; a dot there and another here and so forth. Spots? No. Holes? Nah. Then he joined the dots and made a rough sketch of an animal’s head and torso. That beast was familiar... A scruffy neck and a short muzzle. After seeing him glancing up at the sky then to his handiwork, everything brightened. This was a constellation; the dots were stars! She moved closer to the picture and squinted at it. Leo! The weird animal was lion! Was this his name? Leo? Lion? Which one was it?
Disappointment and confusion appeared on her soft features as she glanced up at ‘Leo/Lion’ almost pleadingly. She felt that his name was within reach but what was it?
