[scrolly:h(500), w(340),sy] He had to admit, it was not the best idea the Yagi had had lately... but he just needed a break from it all. From the cove, from the hard practices in the circus... from her. Crow swap in the murky waters, his powerful legs kicking up and spraying behind him. Why did he feel this way about Tortoiseshell? Was it true?
Kaly was too strong for that, and perhaps too crazy as well…”Girlfriend…as in…love…like…want to be with…you seem nervous enough to make someone believe she is…” Regardless of what the Yagi thought in his head, it was pretty obvious by the way he spoke and tried to half ass defend her as a friend that he liked her…well at least to Kaly it was obvious.
Stretching, the male perked his ears at what Kaly had said "Love? Never been in love. Have you been in love or had a mate before?! What's it like and how do you know if you want someone to be your mate?"
Snorting again to clear her head, “I guess in general love is caring for someone and never wanting that person to leave you, so it looks like you love this girl Crow.” She suddenly felt much older than she actually was.
The male sighed as he slowly clawed his way at the mushy earth below his paws. After he had emerged from the trapping liquids, Crow shook his pelt wildly, sending droplets left and right. It wasn't something like Crow to be this way, but he felt anger surge through him. He noticed a large and sturdy looking tree off to the side and dashed towards it and rammed his large horns against it's bark... leaving new indents on the tree and a Crow with a splitting headache.
"Ouch..." he felt the tears rush to his face and slither down the sides of his cheeks. He didn't want to be a big softy, he didn't want to lose his friends because he was weak and gullible! Why did he feel lost suddenly? What was wrong that had made his life worse than it seemed?
Slowly he laid down under a hollow log and crawled up into it, finding the shade a bit more calming as he rested his maw on his paws, his eyes closed as he muttered under shaky breath...
"Now you won't be there to break my fall, Yeah you know I got nothin' at all, Feeling down. This is loneliness. Waitin' for your call. Yeah that's the twist.
Now you won't be there to break my fall, Yeah you know I got nothin' at all, Feeling down. This is loneliness. Waitin' for your call. Yeah that's the twist..."
Crow had moved to perch himself atop the trunk now and howled in sorrow as he continued to sing.
"You know you belong in my world. Something's in the air tonight. I just want you with me babe..."
The lone wolf laid back down as another sigh emitted from his desolate figure. He gazed about and looked around in hopes that someone, anyone... would come by and give him someone to talk to. Someone that would keep him from being swallowed in his own lonesome, misery. [/scrolly]

Tortoiseshell hadn't left her home, the cove for ages, well, years literally. She thought it would be great for her to have a little more experience wandering in a new land away from the familiar shore since she would soon leave the cove completely with the circus. She thought the swamp would be a good place to start for a beginner explorer as it was fairly close to her home. Obviously it wasn't the greatest idea the cael had ever had and a splash made by her fluke showed that. Tor didn't even think about the possible disadvantages the swamp might have to offer. One of those was water so when she took a first step into swamp her body suddenly transformed involuntarily.
With an annoyed snort she swam through the thick waters towards the nearest land she could see. An island. Surrounded by water. Great. But it didn't matter as she desperately wanted to have her land legs back. As the water got shallower she found it challenging to swim further. Soon the struggling wolf had to drag herself up the sloped shore of the island and it wasn't the easiest task since she had no means to grab anything on her flippers. It took a long while until she was finally out of the filthy water and her whole body flopped on the rough surface of the unpleasant island. Tor lifted her head weakly to observe her body; it was in a tone of sickly brown green. Not her favourite colour. Disappointed, her head fell onto the island dirt again.
Scent came to her nostrils and she was surprised that she hadn't noticed it before. It must be because of that fetid stench of the swamp. She raised her head and torso, using her flippers to support her upper weight. Crow? What was he doing here? Once again she started to scrabble towards the source of the smell and once again it took a while when she spotted the yagi. He was head-butting a trunk and it sent ripples of confusion up her delicate but dirty body. Why? Was he practising his strength or something? Tor remembered the day Crow told her that he wanted to learn how to fight. No it wasn't right; the yagi looked angry and confused. Soon he was on top a hollow trunk and his strong jaws began to move, forming words.
Tor frowned, she knew he wasn't talking to himself. It didn't seem like it in that way. The words formed on his lips flawlessly. Oh, he must be singing. She flattened her ears guiltily; she should be able to hear him, she knew how proud Crow was of his strong singing voice. When she thought he was done, she squeaked to attract his attention. A question was clear on her face so it wasn't necessary for her to ask him through minds. Was he okay?

[scrolly:h(500), w(340),sy] The Yagi perked his ears up and spun a 180, what seemed like a ghost to his eyes, proved him wrong. Was that really Tor, across from him, on another lone island? What could she possibly be doing here? She looked so uncomfortable slinking through the swampy waters and staining her flawless coat and stuck helplessly there. What if she had been sought after by another wolf or worse, a predator?
Crow shook the thoughts from his head as he meet her, eye to eye. Her expressions and intentions were clear. The young yagi understood they need not words to show true emotions. He bounded from his perch and quickly dove into the tar-like depths. Much harder to swim through this time than the rest of the waters he had ever swam through. Why did it feel like his body was sinking? He yelped as gravity seemed to yank at all that existed that was the forest colored yagi.
No,NO! Tor! I don't want to disappear! I- I came here for a reason, a better reason than death even!
The yagi barked helplessly as the quicksand continued to pull him under and submerge him up to nothing but a tip of his tail and his shoulders up. Then is when he felt it was now or never. If the last thing he saw was Tor. He was happy, he just knew he did not want to see her face filled with sorrow if he was gone. Hopefully she could at least know how he really felt and still be able to find her own true happiness...
T-tor... I-I...I think I...
Crow felt his body being constricted as he tilted his head back, all that was left was his eyes and maw. Then he closed them after taking in her form once more. His whole body trembling, not ready to accept defeat as the yagi felt the substance cover all but the tip of his maw as he softly spoke and thought in unison.
"I love you, Tor." [/scrolly]

Brightness Darkly hadn't meant to travel this far. He also hadn't meant to get lost. Especially not in this watery muddy place. There would be no way that Kaly would find him either, not with all this water. The large male let out a sigh. How was he ever suppose to get back? Why was hunting so difficult that he got lost? He heaved a large sigh at his hopelessness.
Suddenly a familiar sound drifted to his ears on the wind. It sounded a lot like Crow, singing. Which wouldn't surprise Brightness if he did run into Crow. The two large males seemed keened to run into each other more often than not. Brightness, at a loss of what else to do, headed toward the sound. It was a difficult task, what with all the water and mud. Bri found himself wading through the water up to his neck.
He spotted Crow, who was preoccupied by running toward a Cael. In an instant the scene changed to one of his friend sinking. Like the swamp had decided to swallow the horned wolf up. Horror made Brightness' blood run cold as he surged forward, adrenaline rushing.
Crow's yelp of surprise barely registered. By the time he reached the Yagi he was almost completely under. Bri leaped forward, front paws sinking into the quicksand. Without a second thought he plunged his head into the muck and grasped the scruff of Crow's neck. Sure his grasp was firm, Brightness pulled with all his strength. His front legs had already begun to sink and his lungs strained with the effort. Gold and brown wings pumped steadily with all their might. Slowly Brightness was able to back out of the death trap, toting Crow along with him.
He release the mud soaked Yagi on solid ground, taking deep ragged breaths. His chest and lungs felt like they were on fire and his nerves were buzzing like crazy.
"YOU COMPLETE MORON!" Bri bellowed, "YOU COULD HAVE DIED!" The hybrid broke into coughs, his whole body shaking.
ooc: Crow asked me to join the thread, just so ya know soar.

She started to drag herself further when she saw confusion and anxiety crossed the yagi's young face. Tor stopped moving, a little hesitant on what she should do next. She could felt something within Crow was different, maybe he knew something she didn't or something. He wasn't in his normal bubbly mood; he looked more grave and alert. The cael didn't like this; it made her more tense, as if a change was coming up, a change that she wouldn't like. She stayed in a place, unsure what to do next when Crow leapt down from his place and bounded his way across towards her. But there was a sticky dark gap between the two wolves.
She could identify the darker patch of something deadly. Darker patches always hid something; currents for the ocean, wet mud in the meadows, and quicksand for the wetlands. Quicksand! Her jaws snapped open and a warning scream erupted from her throat but it was too late. Tor, with her wet fluke and flippers, could do nothing but to stare helplessly as the yagi jumped into the treacherous depths. She flopped her flippers in panic and her head kept turning around to look for any dry wolf, a rescuer. Nothing, so far. She swivelled her head forwards again to look at Crow's terrifying fate. Propelled by adrenaline, her muscles started to flex and, with heavy movements, she pushed herself forth, closer to the flailing yagi. But on the land her tail was way too heavy for her to drag so her muscles soon gave away, resulting her to flop down again.
She screamed again, hoping the sound would attract any wanderer. And, sure enough, there was a golden-yellow wolf darting for rescue. But, judging from his swiftness, he must have seen the event before hearing Tor's screams. Alarmed and filled with hope, she pushed her chest away from the ground with her flippers and looked at the horrifying scene. She was watching the winged wolf leaping for Crow when her focus was dragged away. Tortoiseshell could feel her friend's mind touching hers and she quickly tried to grapple for his presence but he was sliding away fast. All she caught was those four words.
"I love you, Tor."
She wailed again and was completely disconnected from the reality; she didn't see the rescuer plunging his muzzle for Crow's scruff, she didn't see him struggling for a hold, didn't even see that the rescue was becoming a success. All she thought was why had he told her on brink of his death, leaving her to mope over those four words. Then anger rose in her. If that Crow survived this she would-- The wolf's huge body shaking distracted her from her fury and she saw Crow's soaked body beneath the huge paws of the golden wolf. With this sight, her emotions were in disarray. There was a pure beautiful relief but there was also a white hot rage. Her silver eyes caught the sight of the wolf screaming at the wet heap. One didn't need to hear to know what he was saying; she was thinking just the same.
You idiot! You foolish idiot! You... You! All of the cael's body bristled with nervous anger and terror. Then she shouted at him, the sound was loud enough to travel across the treacherous gap to the two wolves. Sure there weren't words in the shout but it was obvious that she was 'telling him off'.

[scrolly:h(500), w(340),sy] As the large horned wolf emerged from the black and gooey tar that tried to drag him below to hell, he coughed and choked as the breath of life graced his lips again. His eyes widened as his fur stood up on end and stuck up in places he didn't know he had enough fur to do so. Crow shivered, not because of the chilling fall air, because of how much of a jerk he felt. The yagi finally managed a shaky break as he felt like he was a newborn pup again, taking his first steps.
He barely audited a whisper towards both of them in his thoughts and as his own speech "I am sorry... it would not be the first time I almost was taken by the spirits that watch over us."
Fighting back tears, he had nearly lost his own life... AGAIN! The fact that his two closest friends were there comforted him, but at the same time made him feel small and empty maybe even useless inside. At least he had gotten to tell Tor how he felt...right? It wasn't supposed to come out that way, as if he would never see her again and to leave her alone and heartbroken. Then again, he didn't know how he wanted it to come out.
He sat down, not bothering to clean himself from the mud that meddled his already tattered looking pelt as he focused on Tor's fore paw's and spoke solemnly to Brightness. "Well, at least you got to meet her..." He felt his face heat up as anger tried to overcome him thrusting it up to glare at them both, tears slowly seeping down his maw. "It's not like I was trying to kill myself!" he whined, whimpered and even howled at them, his ears flattening against his skull and his tail shoved between his legs as he rose and tried to confront Tor.
A whimper tried to voice through him again as he cleared his throat and bore into her clear water droplets. Tor, I... me...I didn't mean to... I... He couldn't think of what to say. He wanted to rejoice that he was still alive and that he had finally told tor his true feelings. How he wanted them to get together and know each other better... maybe even become mates someday. But did she even feel the same, considering the way she approached him after his near-death experience... Crow assume she would not.
That's Bri, he's one of my only closest friends, well, besides you... he gave a warm welcoming smile, his tail wagging slowly in hopes of forgiveness. Crow didn't like all the serious air covering the three wolves.
"Bri, this is Tor...she can't hear you though... she's deaf. But once you get to know her, she can talk to you through thoughts...it's pretty cool.." he felt a slight blush creep up on his face as he rubbed away the few tears that escaped his umber orbs. [/scrolly]

Bri bristled for a long moment, his front legs were covered in muck, as was his entire head. He took a shuttered breath of relief. His settled asthma, but left his voice a tat bit raw. Too much had happened recently and it left his body without any strength. Brightness rump hit the ground as his weary legs gave out.
"Sorry for yelling at you," he said to the crying Yagi, giving him a weak smile when Crow whined at them," but you really scared me, ya know?" He watched the mud drenched wolf go silent, a concentrated look in his eyes as he stared at the Cael across the way. He wondered who she was, luckily he didn't have to ask.
"Bri, this is Tor...she can't hear you though... she's deaf. But once you get to know her, she can talk to you through thoughts...it's pretty cool.."
So this was Tor. The girl who had Crow all doe eyed. Bri swallowed, remembering his own relationship and the terrible mistake that he had made. He steadied the female wolf, he could tell that she at least cared for him some. Enough to care whether he lived or died.
"Uh, can you tell her it's a pleasure to meet her? If only it were under better circumstances?" Brightness asked Crow. His nose started to itch something fierce as the mud dried. swiping a paw across his snout he said good natured," By the way, you big klutz, watch where you put your paws, I won't always be around to save your hide."

It wasn't his fault. He just had another accident just like that near drowning accident at their first meeting, but she wasn't angry back then. Perhaps it was because of the yagi's eagerness to be close to her, ignoring the dangers as result. Back then it was his inexperience. Or, she didn't like to think, she was just thrown off by his love of her. Well, now it didn't matter; he was alive and she was just as eager to be next to him. She scrabbled towards the yagi and snuffled into his sodden neck fur, overwhelmed by relief. But as she withdrew her delicate head her heart sank guiltily as she saw tears falling down from Crow's wide eyes. Oh, she shouldn't have shouted at him. It wasn't his fault! Her guilt and desire for forgiveness were sent across to his mind.
She looked up at 'Bri', Crow's another friend and gave a shaky smile to a huge wolf. He was practically a giant compared to a petite cael. Everything about his massive appearance dominated the cael's tiny frame. Yet she didn't felt afraid of this gigantic wolf. He was Crow's friend and she trusted him to pick right friends. She lifted her wet chest away from the dirt with her two flippers and stretched her head to poke Bri in the neck with her nose (she tried to reach the nose but she couldn't lift herself that high) in a greeting. She looked back to Crow almost wonderingly. Now that the panic was over the four words had sunken in properly. Were the words true? Tortoiseshell looked at her friend and asked him telepathically. How? Why? When? She was interested in what he had to say, yes but she wasn't sure if she felt the same way to him, unfortunately.

[scrolly:h(500), w(340),sy] Oh and Bri say's it's a pleasure to meet you... minus the me almost dying...
Crow chuckled a bit, his breaths deep and slowly leveling out as he regained his composure. Scratching at his hide to remove the drying muck, he turned towards Tor again. Now everything was creeping back up to his mind. And almost as if a ghost had sent chills down his spine, Tor had invaded his mind with questions he knew, would have come eventually. Whining and averting his gaze from her once more. He started to speak then realized she wouldn't hear him, feeling stupid he laid down with his head on his paws as he looked up at her and at brightness for a moment before shifting left and right to take in the scenery.
Well... I uhm. I didn't mean to say it. Kinda...
Ugh! What a stupid thing to say! Of course he meant it!!! He wasn't one to make excuses so now what? The yagi tilted his head up at them and sighed.
Okay. I meant it, but I didn't want it to come out now. I wanted to wait till I thought the time was right. I, myself, felt unsure about it too if it was true. I just didn't want to die and you never know how i felt, so it escaped as the only thing I really wanted you to know for sure...
Shuffling uneasily now, the thick air of nervousness sunk in around the three. He spoke up to Bri to make sure he didn't feel left out, seeing as his hybrid friend most likely could not read their thoughts to one another. "I'm pretty sure that's Tor's way of saying hello to you Bri." he felt a laugh rise in his maw again. Crow was not used to such serious matters. Brightness was his comfort right now, his only escape from such a confrontation he did not want.
I'm sorry. It sounds stupid, I'll understand if you do not feel the same way back. Heck. I'm not even sure I know what love really is to be honest... I just figured that's what it was since that's what others told me it seemed the way I was close to you. His umber eyes met hers again as he noticed a guilty look on her features.
Crow smiled softly to reassure her, that it was okay. It was no ones fault. And he was just glad to still be alive. He didn't care now if Tor would never truly love him back like he did her. Just as long as he could follow her to the end of the earth. As long as he could be there for her when she needed him. That was all he truly wanted. [/scrolly]
