Thana crouched in the bushes, her ears flickering back and forth as she listened to the sounds of the jungle. She rather enjoyed it, and she yawned lazily as she stood up. She rubbed against a tree, if any members came by, they would smell that they had a potential joiner on their boarders. She flicked her tail impatiently as she walked through the jungle, trying to find the very edge of the border. She wanted to make sure they knew she was there, but she still had respect for an alpha. She paced the ground, her eyes scanning the undergrowth, and her ears pricked. She raised her hackles when a large fern began to shake, and she bared her teeth. "Who's there?" she demanded, her voice silky, almost like velvet, but with a disturbing hint of malice. The ferns gave another shake and out hopped a jackalope, which she gave a cold sneer. The jackalope gave a squeak and a squeal as it tried to doge her, but she ran after it and pinned it. She grabbed it gently by it's fragile neck and carried it back to where she had been. She then put it down, but kept it pinned under one of her paws. She gave it another bone chilling leer and removed her paw. The animal made to run off, but Thana tripped it and pulled it back to her. She raised her other paw and cut the jackalope very carefully, using her claw. She cut down it's belly, and watched as the guts spilled out. She bared her teeth at the jackalope, and it tried to run away, only killing itself faster. She then gouged out both of the poor creature's eyes, and cut off one of it's flailing legs. "Is it too much to handle?" She cooed to the dying animal. She got up and made to walk away, but suddenly turned on the spot and snapped the animal's neck. She laughed softly, her laugh dripping with venom and cruelness. She flipped the animal on its back to avoid the guts, picked it up, and threw it into the bushes. She continued her stroll down the edge of the border, the smell of blood mingling with the scent of the mafia. She stopped and sat down, her patience waning like the moon above her. She grinned into the darkness, her coat blending in perfectly, save for the red. Though the trees were thick and made it hard to see the sky, a part of the moon was able to be seen, and that was the light she went by. She glanced around, hoping to see a mafia wolf emerge from the dense bushes, but the night remained still and silent. She snarled to announce her presence to anyone close by. Again, the night remained silent and she began to get slightly frustrated. She hoped they had other mortui here, she would die if no one knew what she was. She was a monster, and proud of it. She raised her head high, she was proud of her status as a mortui, and no one could change that opinion. She trotted over to a half concealed cave and ducked in. Then, on second thought, she stuck her head out and howled. It was an eerie howl, but it clearly stated her business in the jungle, and told others were she was. She then turned and headed back into the small cave, curling up, her bloody red eyes staring out into the darkness, waiting.

Lawson's nightly walk was a routine for the Yagi, he enjoyed the solitude of the Jungle in the autumn air, and the way exotic birds called eerily between themselves. The dense canopy of trees and plants overhead masked out the majority of the sky, but bits of stars and moon shone through here or there. His large paws thudded on the moist ground, his orange eyes seemingly glowing in the night. His saber fangs stuck out, but in an oddly handsome and rugged way, and his bobbed tail, that he was born with at birth, wagged ever so slightly. His large, deadly pointed black horns created a strange and eery looking shadow, much like as if the Devil himself was walking amidst the jungle, which wasn't so far from the truth anyways.
His dark brown fur blended in perfectly with his jungle home, and his muscles rippled nicely underneath his pelt as he continued his leisurely stroll. The large scar over his right eye gave him a distinguished and roughened air, of a tough fighter, which in reality he was, and the scar had always been his personal mark, one he bore from his past misdeeds: After all, he'd murdered four wolves, and not just any four wolves, four full grown Yagis that happened to be a part of his family. It hadn't been a large amount of bloodshed all at once. No, old friend, we were too smart for that... His voice hissed in his ear, and the Yagi ginned in the night.
No, it had took some planning and precision, and had payed off very nicely. Four nights was all it took, and one by one they all died a swift but terrifying death. Suddenly a howl sounded through the night, and Lawson lifted his head, listened, and smiled: A potential joiner? Interesting... he thought, and picked up his pace to meet the wolf. He soon came upon a cave, and he could smell a wolf inside. He approached, and stood tall a few feet from the entrance. "Greetings, traveler, and welcome to the Jungle, home of the Mafia. Come to join? Excellent then, lets get started..." he called, and his voice rumbled from deep within his massive chest. Brawn and brains, was this Yagi, a lethal combination...

Thana lay curled up, with her red eyes staring out at the dark. She heard the yagi long before she saw him, and she uncurled as he approached. She slunk out of the cave and displayed her slender body for the yagi to see, her in all her rotting and decaying glory. "Yes, mortui, and proud of it." Her voice was like water flowing over stones, a surprising combination with her odd and rotting looks. The stench of death rolled off her body, and her sight was enough to make weak hearted wolves scream for their mommies. The yagi was a good six inches or so taller then her, and a heck of a lot heavier, but she stared him in the eye and didn't back down. She was not yet part of his pack, she could treat him however she wanted, though unwise it may be. She was not in a dominant stance, yet she stood tall and straight, and looked ready to defend herself is needed. "I suppose you heard my call and came to investigate? Well, it was a smart move, on your part. I do wish to join." She noted how he did not offer his name, and usually she would not offer hers, but seeing as she was joining the pack, and he was high ranking, she better get on with it. She gave a resigned sigh and shrugged. "The name is Thana." She grinned up at the yagi, though it was more like a leer. "I suppose you won't tell me your name?" She made a circle around the yagi, her midnight black fur waving slightly in the night breeze. It was a hot and humid night, and the mortui sat down in front of the male, panting slightly. She looked the yagi up and down, he was an impressive figure, tall, heavy, armed with deadly horns and saber fangs, though neither of those worried her much. She wondered if he knew what her kind was like. "I suppose you have heard about mortius, right?" Her eyes narrowed, any respecting wolf should know. In Thana's world the strong would survive, and the weak would perish. She had always been a strong one, and most yagi naturally were. He must have been around a lot, so surely he knows what a mortui is, she thought. The breeze blew back toward the two wolves and it carried the scent of the jackalope she had disposed of. The scent was of blood, guts, and the scent of the jackalope itself. She gave a little girlish giggle, another shocking thing to be heard from a mortui, but she took delight in other's misfortune. OOC: Really short, and very bad, sorry Kas, lost muse halfway through and had to end it.

The Yagi grinned as the Mortui observed him, circling for a moment like a vulture: He was proud of his looks and it didn't bother him at all. However, she was a Mortui, which intrigued him. He knew they were quite rare, and to have one in the Mafia would be a rather nice advantage. "Ah yes, Mortui... Rare wolves indeed, but rather useful to have in a pack. Thana, such a pretty name, reminds me of Thanatos, the god of death. How fitting..." He eyed her speculatively, with the black fur and red eyes, even the rotting flesh went rather well. The smell of a dead jackaloppe caught his nose, but that didn't bother the male, he was used to it, having grown up around it most of his life.
"My name is Lawson, Consigliere, adviser and bodyguard to the Don and Donna of the Mafia, at your service, Madame." He bowed in exaggeration, grinning. He suddenly grew serious, but remained standing, not defensive, simply tall and straight. "Let me tell you the basics of the Mafia, and some history while we're at it. I had heard of the Mafia's reputation as a pack, and therefore decided it was to my benefit, and to theirs, to join such a pack. However, when I arrived, I met a wonderful gentleman, then enforcer, but now Don. He explained the dastardly situation to me: Then, it was the old Mafia, which was decrepit and beginning to crumble into ruin. Well now, we couldn't have such a brilliant pack die out now, could we?" He paused.
"So he explained that perhaps all they needed was some new management, and if I'd be willing to help him? Naturally, I accepted, and became part of an elite group of wolves known as the Mutineers. We conquered the Mafia, guided by the Don, and here we are, restoring the Mafia to its former glory once again." He finished, a gleam in his eye. Yes, we did rather well, didn't we? His voiced added, and Lawson agreed.
"There are certain rules, even with a pack such as the Mafia: Respect your superiors. Disrespect will not be tolerated, and if you do not do as you are told, we will see to it that you are swiftly and efficiently disposed of. However, if you do well and show potential, you will soon see that the Mafia rewards those who are loyal, and you can earn a higher rank such as myself, Thana. We may harbor some rather deviant and sly wolves, but we are a pack, and whether you like it or not when you join the Mafia, you never get out again, clear?" Lawson was testing the she-wolf in his own way. He knew that she showed power and potential, but respect was always first and foremost. He'd allowed her little game for the moment, but now was a time for seriousness.
He paused, letting his words sink in before he continued, smiling ever so slightly as his orange eyes met her red ones: "Now Thana, we must find you a rank. Tell me, what is your preference: Brains, or brawns? Either way, you will have a valued place in our marvelous pack." He waited.

Thana nodded in satisfaction and approval when the yagi recognized her species. Even if there wasn't another mortui in this pack, she was going to join. The mafia would be a perfect place for her, and she knew it. She gave him a curt nod, she had named herself Thana because of the fact it was the female version of Thanatos. At least someone -besides her- had some sense. No doubt the rest of the pack was like this, she had heard great things about the mafia. Probably disturbing to others, but to her, great. Lawson, she thought, the name seemed to fit the male yagi. "Charmed." She said shortly. She assumed that the Don was the male alpha, and the Donna must be his mate, the female alpha.
She leaned forward slightly, her ears pricked and eyes gleaming when he started talking about the basics of the mafia. She nodded as he went along, absorbing the words like a sponge. She was not some gullible and naive wolf who was easily fooled, but she wanted to prove herself to this wolf. She agreed when he paused, and then paused herself, waiting for him to continue. She noted the gleam in his eye, and realized that the new Don had offered him an irrefusable bargain. He would help the Don, and would get power in return. She grinned a wolfish grin, this pack was certainly to her liking.
The rules were simple enough; Respect for superiors? Always had it. Disrespect would not be tolerated, he said, and she believed him. A large amount of the 'great' things she had heard involved killing, and she believed that the mafia would be quick to give her a one way ticket to hell if she angered them, and she had no wish to do so. Even a mortui could be killed, and she planned to enjoy her prolonged life, not toss it away. She flicked her tail, and took a few steps closer to the male. "Indeed. I understand the rules. You have a one way ticket into the mafia, and going out would be.. Perilous." She gave him another grin, one day she meant have the honor of chasing down the ones who tried to escape, and if she was good, the Don might let her eat them.
The thought made Thana look back up at the yagi, desperate to prove herself worthy. His next question made her stop and think. She was quite intelligent and crafty, so brains would be a good choice. But then again, she was a very skilled fighter and she could not feel pain, with came in handy in a fight.
She thought about it for a few seconds longer, then answered the yagi. "My choice is brawn, as you so excellently put it. Though let it be noted that I am not some muscle head." She made sure it was in a polite tone, she meant no respect, she simply wanted to make sure Lawson knew she preferred brawn, but was not stupid, or like she said, a 'muscle head'. "As you probably know, mortius cannot feel pain, and that comes in handy when in a fight." She waited for Lawson on tender hooks, she hoped he would give her a test. She needed to prove her worth to him. It was how she rolled.

Note: If it pleases, Lawson you could suggest Thana's test be a fight during the All Hallows Eve festival as I believe Thana metionned wanting to fight in the plot thread? Ajax will be the sparring opponent...

The Consigliere smiled, his pearly saber teeth displayed proudly. Thana would be a perfect addition to his beloved pack, and he was certain Scorch would also be pleased. She understood the rules, and the value of respect, and he was certain she would soon gain herself a higher rank, if she kept it up. "Marvelous Thana, I really do look forward to having you as a member of the Mafia. " His words were genuine, and an idea infiltrated his mind. "However, there is still a small test I believe you should have to undergo, as is Mafia tradition. We are hosting an All Hallow's Eve Festival, and there will be, among many other delicacies, a fighting competition, and I believe it would give you a chance for some fun and an opportunity for Scorch, the Don, and I to better observe your skills in action."
He paused, and after some thought continued: "For now, your rank shall be soldier, it is a lower rank, although all members have respect, you will soon climb to greater heights and ranks if you show quality, Thana. The Mafia is unforgiving but are beneficiary to those who are a part of it. I myself shall be participating in the competitions, and I look forward to seeing you there. Until then, good luck and welcome!" he finished, and although stood up to leave, waited to see if she had any other questions.
