The small ledge circled the steep body of the great mountain, sharp inclines perpetuated by jutting boulders and scarse vegetation eventually rising well above the valley below. The rugged surface was cold and foreboding and shards of the mountain dislodged periodically with the rise and fall of the yagi's expert footing falling far below as they were swallowed by the fog that rested at the foot of the great mountain. Thick claws clicked rhythmically against the jagged stone swell slicing through the barren silence on the difficult terrain.
Xiomara was returning north from her small expedition and had chosen a rather difficult path to follow, not quite inclined to reach her destination in any hurry, that would no doubt provide an acceptable challenge and a great view. If the path ever stopped circling that was...The she-wolf had no intentions of climbing to the top, it was not a necessity, and so she merely followed this route that was supposed to carry her around the middle of the mountains and out the other side. When she had first started the challenging climb the October day had appeared to be relatively calm but the mounting wind levels now suggested otherwise. Weather remained at best unpredictable so high above the other territories and as she sniffed at the air she picked up the distinct scent of rain.
Lifting her head to the sky her slate grey eyes noted the darkening clouds that but moments ago had seemed rather unconcerning; their intent was now rather clear and the dark overcast simply foreboding. Sighing she quickened her pace, pushing at the limits of danger along the steep path that was simply better fit for a goat then such a large wolf. A frown of disdain soon filtered onto her fierce face as the sky cracked opened to unleash the beginnings of a heavy rain fall, the thick drops landing on her fur and soon soaking the exterior layer as walking became more treacherous.
It was fortunate that the caves lay ahead for the water was now snaking down the the ledge in small ripples, washing over her paws and over the edge. Soon the path widened, jutting off to the right and into the mountain while thinning out up ahead and continuing on; this was the entrance to the Micans Cave. Xiomara would have continued, but the rain was also of a similar mind and showed no signs of abating. Determined was the the she-wolf, but not fool hardy and with a growl of resignation she turned in, disturbing the quiet darkness in its depths. Shaking her dark pelt off she stalked sulkily to the corner of the entrance, her dark shape hidden deep within the darker shadows as Xiomara settled down in the soft remnants of moss to await the passing of the rain.

Lupa stalked through the snow, a scowl on her face. She snarled at the snow, her eyes narrowed and her teeth bared. The silver she wolf scampered along the dangerous path, her small size coming in handy. The clouds were soon going to drop their burden, and she didn't want to be on this tricky little path when they did. The storm would not scare her, for she had some control over it, but on a slippery little path high up in the air did. She would not like being killed by falling off this path, she had always imagined when she did leave this world she would have a more spectacular and heroic exit.
Laughing darkly as she made her way, she could have sworn she smelt another wolf, but the rain was now coming down, and the smell of the rain washed away the other scents. Then again, the last time she had smelt another wolf... She let out a huge growl of anger and lightning danced in the clouds before it came to the earth, hitting the snow around her. She jumped in surprise, for she had not meant to do that. Though it had felt good. She shook her head, right now she needed to find a place to stay until the rain let up, now was not the time to lose control of her lightning.
She winced, and automatically looked back at her short tail, the images coming back vividly in her head. She turned back to the path and froze, a funny glow was emitting from the mouth of a cave, and Lupa hurried forward. She entered the cave and sighed, shaking her coat as she did she. She had tried to leave her anger out in the rain, but to no avail, and her coat was sending off purple sparks, which added to the light. She shook her coat again but then froze. She turned slightly, she could have sworn she had seen a shape. A low growl escaped her maw, and her eyes glinted with malice. She swallowed down another growl, and stalked to the back of the cave.
She pretended she didn't know the other animal was there, but she turned around suddenly and growled. Another bolt came down from the sky, and it lit up the cave. She saw the outline of the other wolf, and noted it's formidable horns. Even so, she was not one to be scared easily, and she stood her ground. "Who are you?" The words were not shouted, but they had anger dripping from every syllable.

The sharp crack of lightning landing nearby the entrance of the cave gave Xiomara room for contemplation; it was not such a common thing to have lightning land so close. Opening her eyes she turned her head in the direction of the opening, a silent growl on her maw. It did not matter and she placed her head back on her paws, the cave provided shelter enough and she but huffed in annoyance, the flash causing a distraction to her rest. Lifting her head back up rapidly she noted a brief shape of what could be another animal illuminated by the light. Ears perked forward she remained deadly still, curious to see if this might be a wolf for her to fight with as she was no longer the wolf that used words.
Force against force was now the way she employed for survival, if something got in her way Xiomara moved it, rarely bothering to pay attention to wolves if they were not in her path. Now there was no mistaking the faintly luminous shape of a smaller wolf entering her refuge, sparks appearing to fly from the other wolf's fur. A lupus, Xiomara took note, and perhaps the cause of this annoying light. She would simply have ignored the other wolf's presence had the female not addressed her in such a manner, but as it were she was being gracious enough to allow her to share the yagi's space and the angered tone aggravated her ears that had become accustomed to the silence of the cave and the soothing fall of water outside.
The growl coming from the lupus did not frazzle the large yagi, who leisurely stretched out, making her self more comfortable before bothering to respond. Her eyes took in the purple ripples in the wolf's silver pelt without much interest, yawning in response to the anger directed her way. What was it to her anyways? She had been itching for a fight, perhaps a little spar with Sparky might be an interesting divertissment. Even so the climb up had been rather taxing, was she up to replying with as much gusto as needed? Hell yeah.
And so with a speed surprising for her build she leap up with a snarl, whipping her head around at the lupus as her icy eyes flashed out like steel. "What's it matter to you Sparky?" She spat back, saber fangs flashing in the dull light. Scratching her large paw against the ground she silently challenged the lupus, daring her to give Xiomara an actual reason to counter with force. The yagi was not the type to stand by being snarled out, and though the idea of laying back down and simply going to sleep was almost as appealing as standing to fight she remained crouched in a defensive posture, muscles ready to attack at provocation.

Lupa waited to feel the yagi's claws rip into her shoulder, to feel her horns stab her side, to feel the giant saber fangs close around her throat. She winced and braced herself, but after a second or two, Lupa looked back at the yagi and her jaw dropped. The lazy brute was just lying there. Snorting, Lupa sat down and eyed the yagi warily. She began to pick out pieces of snow from between her paws, though one eye was trained on the second wolf. Lupa did not growl any more, but she still showed no friendliness, or for that matter, emotion. She raised a brow slightly, this was.. Uncommon. Suddenly the female got to her feet with alarming swiftness, and Lupa copied her movements. She eyed the female, she really didn't like her chances. Outside, with the yagi in the line of fire from her lightning, she would have improved chances. She supposed she might try to have her sparks grow greater and zap the yagi, but she still didn't like her chances against the yagi's horns, sabers, and brutal strength.
The yagi spoke, and Lupa's jaw dropped. Of all the things she had expected to hear from the yagi's mouth, this was probably the last thing she would have guessed. The name -though meant to anger- was, to Lupa, hilarious. "Sparky? Sparky?" She asked, her voice rather more high pitched then usual. She began to laugh, and once she started she found it was hard to stop. "Of all the insults in the world, you choose 'Sparky'?" She really was asking the yagi this, and she had a crazy grin on her face as she sat down again. She pondered the question the yagi had asked her, why did she care who this wolf was? "Nothing." She said simply, and she meant it. "I suppose you don't care what my name is then, do you?" She asked the question in as casual tone, but she had no intentions of telling this huge female who she was, and if the horned wolf told Lupa her name, she would still not reveal her own.
Lupa wasn't very scared of the yagi, sure, if they got in a fight, the most likely outcome would be Lupa lying on the floor dead, but it sure beat falling off a stupid little path meant for mountain goats. Or an eremus. She watched the yagi curiously, the animal was really meant for fighting, why else would they have the horns, fangs, sometimes spine spikes. Lupa scowled slightly, the rain had still not stopped, and the less time she had to spend with this idiot, the better. She flicked her tail lazily, wondering vaguely what the yagi would do. The yagi was a female, like herself. Now that they were closer she could smell the special scent for females. Lupa's eyes flicked from the horns to the fangs, wondering if the yagi struck, what weapon would she use first. Lupa wasn't going to attack without reason, but if the yagi deemed it time to fight, she would attack with all she had.
She stood up again, and eyed the yagi. "Seeing as you aren't going to answer my first question, I think I'll try a second. You probably won't answer this either, but it's worth a shot." Lupa flicked her tail again, purple eyes meeting the icy ones. "Why are you here?" She asked it quite bluntly, for Lupa had never been, and probably never will be, a social animal. She ignored the dare, she had no reason to fight, she had walked all the way here, been stuck in the rain, and she really wasn't in the mood to be killed. She gave the yagi a wolfish grin, she didn't really care if the other female answered her second question, she was more interested in the outcome of this meeting.

The yagi narrowed her eyes, debating whether swift impalation of the lupus on her horns might wipe the persistent grin off her face, but thought better of it, what purpose might it serve? Instead she flicked her perfectly short tail and stalked over to her chosen area of the cave, turning her back on the lupus in a mocking show of fearlessness. Her face was painted with lines of disgust, she could not fathom why other wolves could possibly desire a longer tail, it was just another thing that made yagi's of a superior quality. Once settled she lay her head back on her large paws, keeping her eyes open but a slit to keep watch over the wolf. Rolling her shoulder blade she gave a snort, the rough sound not one of amusement. All these questions were like an aggravating buzz to her ears, piercing the calm and demanding to understand the obvious.
In a disinterested voice she mumbled, "Nor the best nor the worst, but lucky for you sparks you'll know neither." Disturbed Xiomara was not being particularly successful in finding a comfortable position and she flipped onto her side, back against the cool wall with her back legs stretched out with her torso raised. Scowling at the source of the disruption she supposed she'd have to bury herself under a pile of dirt to find solace. A persisting itch on her antler was causing the she-wolf great discomfort and she reared her head to drag the silver weaponry across the stone in an effort to dispel the issue at hand. Satisfied she gave a grunt of approval and flicked away a few fallen shards with her paw.
The question the wolf had asked was simply painfully obvious, Xiomara could but raise one brow in disbelief. Growling out her answer slowly as if talking to one of inferior intelligence she noted, "Now why the bloody hell do you think I am here?" She nodded pointedly with her maw, designating the sheet of rain outside the cave,"Same reason you're here I'd expect, unless you're here under other pretenses." Her voice indicated she doubted the lupus was disturbing Xiomara for any other reason than to seek shelter.
Turning her paw over she examined her thick claws, satisfied with the way the sharp stones had sharpened them during her hike and ran them ever so lightly over the ground, enjoying the feel of them caressing the stone cold floor of the cavern, a small glint in her eyes. Without bothering to glance over she demanded, "And what makes you smile so? Do not tell me you are one of them deranged wolves..."That would be great, Xiomara thought sarcastically, them were the kind that could not be reasoned with, and the idiotic musing she had endured from their mouths simply irritated the female. She could not care less if the Great Spirit was coming to claim his due and the land would explode into shard of falling rainbows, as long as everything remained as it was at the moment.
Xiomara gave a side glance at the silver lupus, she did not appear to be the kind, but her rather consistent leering grins were mildly indicative of other wise. Never one to be interested in affairs of the mind Xiomara surrounded herself with more simplistic and authentic interests, survival of the fittest was much more alluring, the ones that could fight, the ones that would flee and the miscreants in between. Many a poor sap had thought to test their own survivals skills against the yagi, and time and time again she had obliged them, only to watch with satisfaction as they quickly realized the errors of their request. The fact was the strong persevered, nothing more nothing less and she was proud to be part of a breed that she considered to be the reigning champs of survival. The proud tilt of her head, the hard glint in her eyes and her strong stride were results of this attitude.

Lupa stretched out and then lay down, her purple eyes roving around the cave restlessly. It seemed as though she would be stuck with this yagi for a long time. Joy. She continued her search for something interesting, but again she saw nothing. But as her eyes were making a third and desperate search for something, anything, except this yagi, she found it. Outside a jackalope hunched in the shadows, and Lupa smiled. She was hungry now, and a nice jackalope meal would do nicely. She did not move from her position against the moss, but she simply furrowed her brow and concentrated. A small bolt of lightning came down from the angry and howling sky, and hit the jackalope before it could scurry away.
Lupa cast the yagi a look, as if to make sure the yagi knew the food was rightfully Lupa's, and then stood up and lazily walked to the dead jackalope, picked it up and returned to the cave. She walked back to her corner and shook herself, then settled down. She glared at the yagi and then began to eat her wet meal. Blood and water mixed, and she had a satisfied look on her face when she turned back to the yagi. She did not answer the yagi, she felt no need, the female was simply crabby, and thats all there was to it. "I'm sorry, is curiosity a sin?" She asked the question innocently enough, but her eyes were cold and her mouth was tight. She pawed at a bone and rolled it over to herself, and began to suck out the marrow. She sniffed and wrinkled up her nose when she looked up and saw the rain still pouring. She was getting up when the yagi asked her question, and she froze. Then she began to laugh again. Her, deranged? Probably in the future. She had been insane in the past, but no one was going to make her tell her little sob story to this brute. She stood up and stared at the yagi. "First, if I was crazy, I doubt I would know it, and if I did know I was crazy, what would make me tell you?" Rude and mean was what her words were, but they were also true.
"So I guess you will have to trust me on this one. Which I know you will absolutely hate with all your heart, but let me tell you this; That hate is completely mutual." She started pacing, her claws scraping on the rock floor. "So I will tell you, honestly, that I am not crazy. Or, as sure as one can be. Happy?" She whirled around to face the yagi, the smiles and laughs gone. She tilted her head, waiting for the yagi to reply. She then stalked across the cave, threw herself on the floor, and began grumbling under her breath, with an occasional dark glance at the other wolf. She stuck out her snout and gave the yagi one last look of defiance before curling up on the floor. No doubt the yagi would try to keep her from her sleep, but if she did, she would grab of of those pretty antlers and shove it down her throat. For starters.

Xiomara watched the lupus fry the errant jackalop with a bolt of lighting, interesting technique she supposed, but to a Yagi it was more a show of laziness. Lupus powers, though amusing to behold and certainly powerful in their own right, were simply the only reason the lazy species had survived in the female's mind. Proud and defiant no one could ever convince her that just as the lupus had their powers she had her horns and saber teeth, in fact she might use these natural weaponry on the individual that would even suggest such a thing. Scrunching her nose she dismissed the kill for the blatant show it was, huffing softly for added emphasis.
"Don't worry sparky, I wouldn't touch your burnt excuse for a meal if someone made me." Although a certain bite from a bloody kill would satiate her desire to fight and challenge the white and purple female. As far as she was concerned the lupus' presence was a sin, the mere fact that she was here interrupting the yagi's slumber was an offense and she turned her ears back at the thought. "A perfect sin, when the question is as moronic as that one." She replied, a bite to her words as she egged the female on. Part of her wanted a spat, though this was turning into more of a disgusting catty affair rather then a out right fight.
Laughing mockingly she sneered at the lupus, "How would you know, if you've never tried it?" Positively leering now, a smirk of amusement teased the corner of her maw, "And if you do not know you are crazy perhaps you very well are, must be for bothering me." Xiomara did not care much if her words were logical, she was simply playing with the lupus now, trying to find a crack in her defense that would drive her to anger. Retribution, Xiomara thought, simply for having disturbed her in such a fashion. The yagi was a vengeful sort, seeking payment for wrongs that she considered others to have committed. It certainly made her into a hypocritical, judgmental tyrant, but it would be madness to point this out and Xiomara was no closer to realizing it then before.
As it were Xiomara was a bit of a murderer, admittedly the murdered had pushed her only love off a cliff, but it still did not change the blunt facts of the situation. It had been over a year since the incident, and in that time the yagi's guilt had driven her to believe she was no better then a common criminal, but worse for the wear she often acted upon this self-destructive belief, seeking out situations that simply were not beneficial to her person. Eyes flashed angrily when she noted the female curling up, this would imply not do. Now that the yagi was wide awake and bothered it would be ridiculous to allow another soul the privilege of a nap. Snarling quietly she decided to get up and with a grin of mild malice walked to the entrance of the cave and stood for a couple seconds. Finally, without a glance behind her, she let out and ear splitting howl into the rain, the sound strong and loud it simply commanded attention as she directed the noise home. Lets see how miss sparky likes that, she thought with amusement.

Lupa looked up at the yagi, her eyebrows raised. She was fully aware that the yagi had just insulted her, not to mention ridicule her poor 'burnt excuse of a meal.' Which was totally out of line, but Lupa decided now would not be a good time to get up and charge. She would settle with an insult to the yagi; Fair is fair. "Well, good, because I wouldn't give you my 'burnt excuse for a meal' if someone made me." Eh, she was to lazy to think up a good insult, she was just going to copy the yagi's, more or less.
She gave the beast a cool grin, hoping to infuriate her further. She twitched her ear ever so slightly at the female's next comment, the only sign she found it disagreeable. "Hmm?" She turned away from the stupid git, this wolf was really not worth her time. But no, this yagi had to be talkative and provoke her further. Lupa was as sure as she could be she was not crazy. Was this good enough for the stupid brute? Of course not. "Well, how can I argue against something as sensible as that!" She watched the yagi; She was certain she was trying to make her angry, make her want to fight. Well, Lupa really would be mad if she accepted the yagi's subtle challenge.
She snorted, the curled up again, trying to ignore the idiot. She was just drifting off to sleep when the yagi howled. Oh, you are really annoying, she thought, but instead of giving in, she uncurled herself and stood up. Then she let loose a howl too. She might have been small, but she could really howl. She then went back to her previous position, one of her ears pointed at the stupid menace. From how she looked, she gave no sign of having just stood up and howling, she looked peaceful and at ease, though inside she was grinning, and wondering what the brute would do now. She twitched her tail slightly, anxious, waiting to see what 'stinging' remark she got in return for her little prank... Sparky, honestly, she thought.
She was an impatient being though, and she got up and looked at the yagi. Oh, how she would love to charge at her, give her all she was worth, let all hell break loose. But Lupa was not stupid, and she knew that charging the yagi in a head-on assault would be her demise. She yawned pointedly, waiting for the yagi to crack. She was impatient, yes, but at her own game, she would not lose.

ooc: My apologies for Xiomara's terrible manners and the absolute crappiness of this reply, lol.
Xiomara was certainly enjoying herself, if there was something she loved more then driving others over the edge it was facing a tough opponent. Although she had yet to literally butt heads with the lupus the little verbal spar was proving interesting and she was working out ways to pester the female further. She was certainly mildly surprised when her howl earned one in response, the lupus rising to meet her own and this show of defiance incited her to become more creative. Giving the lupus a amused glanced she noted that the she-wolf had risen from her so called peaceful slumber, exactly as the yagi had hoped.
Sneering slightly she noted, "My my, the little lupus can sing, how merry. Did you think that call was for you? Certainly if I wanted to talk to you I would have woken you from your little slumber in a more tactful manner." Her tone clearly suggested the manner would not have been tactful, but words were not needed to demonstrate this point. Candidly she approached the lupus and then shook her pelt off where a bunch of water drops had accumulated from her howl, spraying water over her new acquaintances. Glancing at the lupus a sly look infiltrated her eyes, she did not need to voice a taunt, her actions were substantial enough.
The rain had begun to abate slowly, drops still falling but no more buckets were being dropped. The yagi regarded this with a mixture of satisfaction and almost regret, she was inching to return home but she was also enjoying trying to disturb the lupus. Begrudgingly she alloted her some respect, she had not caved under the yagi's consistent taunts as of yet, not an easy feat it could be noted. "I will give it to you Sparks, you don't cave easily and for that I will give you my name, it is Xiomara, Alma Llameante Seated Officer One for the Balkamir Empire, can't say it is a pleasure making your acquaintance." Gruffly she conceded the female the one small win, simply to show she respected the wolf's spunk faced with such a larger opponent's taunts.

Lupa stretched leisurely, now that the yagi had successfully awoken her from her sleep, she might as well enjoy her time up. Though if one could enjoy being awake in the presence of the annoying yagi, she was not sure. She sat down and tapped her tail against the ground with the continuing pattern of the rain. She closed her eyes, actually enjoying the lullaby of the rain against the cave. She kept her eyes closed as the yagi spoke, though sparks danced along the rocky ground around her. She struggled to remain in control of her emotions, she wasn't in the mood to fry herself. She vaguely wondered why the only wolves she had been meeting were annoying and stupid. Like Draugur, she thought. She shrugged her shoulders, more to herself then her company.
She opened one eye to look at the yagi, a tired expression on her face. She really couldn't understand what made a wolf so annoying, what drove them to this point? Lupa noticed that the yagi certainly didn't sound like she would have been tactful, and Lupa sighed. Why was everyone sneaking around the point? If they didn't like her, they shouldn't be a coward, they should go up right into her face and scream it. The socially awkward female didn't really understand the word subtle, and she probably never would. She looked up at the yagi, a innocent look on her face. "Why, I thought you were more intelligent then you looked." The comment was accompanied by a sly smile before she continued. "I thought that you would know a howl would wake up everyone except the most heaviest sleepers." She said the words as though she was explaining something to a small pup.
Both of her purple orbs flicked open when she was splattered with water, but she shook it off right back at the yagi. Purple sparks danced around the cave, lighting it up with the moss. She concentrated hard, hoping the yagi would have enough sense not to disturb her. If she didn't, they might both end up with some nasty burns. The sparks flickered around her, drying up the remaining water on her short coat. The lightning vanished, and she shook her dry coat. It was a little fluffier then normal, but she was dry again, and glad.
The sound of the rain was not as loud, and the rain was not falling as heavily. Lupa was not sure if she was glad, or disappointed. She decided a bit of both, for she did enjoy a fight, verbal or physical. She looked up in surprise as the yagi- or Xiomara, stated her name. "My name is Lupa, Hunter for the Children of Hvitur Ari." She ignored Xiomara's compliment, though she noted that it would probably be the best she got from the other female.
