His nose had loyally followed the scent of water down to the foggy shores of Amarenthyst. With a heavy sigh, the male collapsed in the shallows. The blessed water splashed over his body, immediately relaxing his tired limbs and refreshing the water plants on his back. It had been a long journey from the ocean to this fresh body of water, especially for one not used to traveling by land. He allowed his head to dip into the cold lake, taking a mouthful of water.
Droplets of rain cascaded without warning from the sky, creating numerous ripples in the lake. Siren snorted and glanced up at the pale gray clouds above. The rain would have been useful hours ago when he was lost and in need of water. Oh well, the irony mattered little now that he had reached his new home. A thought struck the hybrid which caused a small whine to escape his mouth. This wasn't his home yet, he still had to be accepted into the pack which lived here.
His bright orange eyes cautiously surveyed the area. It was quiet with the exception of the subdued pitter-patter of rain hitting the damp ground. He would wait here, laying in the calming presence of the lake, until a pack member eventually found him. He could howl and announce his intentions, but the quiet hybrid would rather wait it out.

The day had dawned dark and gloomy and the restless Queen had once again fled to the outskirts of the pack to rest in the quiet serenity away from worried looks. Her paw felt better and would be decent enough to make the journey and that was all that matter, there was no more room for discussion on the matter.
It was well into mid morning before she made her way out from the thick forest and to the lake shores. By this time the rain had begun to fall from the dark silver clouds that coated the sky, but it did not bother Keinvarii. The soothings sounds of the drops on the rocks of the shore and the cool feeling of the water against her fur was a welcome break. The land she had chosen to move her pack too was a humid one and it was common to receive frequent rain falls.
Moving to the edge of the water she slipped into the shallows to clean her fur off from the dust that remained stuck from the recent travel. The refreshing water washed over her, plunging her paw into a cool bliss and Keinvarii rolled about in the water. Soaked but efficiently clean she rose and left the water with regret, the day was young and there was yet work to be done.
She gave her fur a vigorous shake to rid it from the worst of the water and was about to leave when the sound of rustling reeds and water reached her ears. Sniffing at the air she caught scent of a strange smell that could have been a wolf but held aromas of the ocean and aquatic plants. Confused she followed the scent back to another spot along the shore live and seeing nothing at first glance would have kept moving on...Except the color of those plants was out of the ordinary, in fact they seemed to float and move as if...
Surprise lit her eyes when she realized they were attached to a wolf and she gave a sharp bark of greeting. "Hello stranger, I barely saw you there, what might bring you so close to the Centena Accord lands if I may ask?" She kept her distance, never sure whether she addressed friend or foe, "My name is Keinvarii and I am Queen of the Accord, good day to you." She stood strong, waiting for a response that would predict the next turn of events.

It was obvious from her confidence that she held a high rank, and it was only from her words that Siren learned that she held the highest rank. The hybrid stood up slowly, the water dripping from his oily brown fur. He hadn't anticipated coming in contact with the leader of the Accord, but did his best to hide his surprise.
"Greetings, miss Keinvarii." He began politely, giving her the respect she deserved. "My name is Siren, and I'm here to ask for admittance into your pack." His orange eyes rose to truly look at the queen for the first time. At once he found himself unable to speak; she was beautiful. Not in the conventional, flashy way, but with a pure natural flourish. Her eyes were entrancing and he couldn't help getting lost in them. Of course he couldn't just stare at her. Not wanting to be rude, the soaking wet wolf averted his gaze. It seemed the puddle at his paws warranted some attention.

The various aquatic vegetation that grew from his back was a wonder to behold and they cascaded down his back; a beautiful cloak of flora. The small droplets of rain had gathered in their leafy grasps and gleamed like cold diamonds under the silvery light of the pale day. Keinvarii doubted if there had ever been a wolf that looked more at home in Lake Amarenthyst.
Siren seemed like an entirely appropriate name for the wolf, and she could not begin to guess what species he was. It pleased her, like it would any alpha, that he sought to join her pack. New members were always welcome, especially ones that held no airs about them despite being fundamentally rare and handsome. Smiling openly she sat down, "This is always welcome news Siren, and I hope that like many this place shall provide you with the comforts of unrestricted peace and strength." She would be glad to count Siren as one of her own, the pack needed more males to protect it for even though all the females were strong and competent, male presence was occasionally viewed as stronger.
"Before you may officially join our ranks I must learn of your skills. In addition, a small briefing of this pack will help you to understand how we operate." She nodded matter of factly, this was a necessary process, in order to survive order had to be established. "The Centena Accord has the same soul of this land, ancient and noble yet without harsh rulings and many seek comforting solace and fierce strength in our ranks. We hold three councils, the High Estate, the Nobility and our Commoners. In joining you agree to share our creed We stand Equal as One and accept the tradition of honoring this great land we live in." She gave him an encouraging wink, the pack had come a long way and it had finally found a structure that befitted the noble hearts of its members.
"We are all of noble heart here, and we share common bonds. As a male I believe you shall enjoy yourself for we have a large variety of females available." A wry smile danced across her may, the female that caught this male would be lucky indeed. "And I have a proposition for you, prove your worth as a Noble and you shall receive imminent promotion in our ranks, we value those that stand faithfully among us. What do you say Siren? Feel like testing the waters?" Her small joke brought a twinkle to her eye, she could only hope her speech had not deterred the handsome wolf's resolve.

He smiled in response, his scaly blue tail swishing back and forth. "Your lake is indeed lovely, I'd be proud to call it my home." There were definitely benefits to living in fresh water as opposed to the ocean. For one thing, he could drink it, and for another, there weren't blind serpents and other large predators lurking in its depths. Siren would be one of the top hunters in this environment, and was already feeling safer.
The male's thoughts drifted apprehensively to the sea weed which tangled in his mane. He supposed that the salt water plants would die off and be replaced by their hardier relatives. Yet maybe if he spent enough time in the marshes, they would survive..
She was speaking again! Siren shut off the steady stream of thoughts in his head to listen to what the queen had to say. He had heard rumors of the Accord's ways, but would gladly hear further explanation. It seemed the packs of the land wolves were not as unfamiliar as Siren had feared. He was relieved to discover that he wouldn't need to learn new customs or manners.
The hybrid felt heat rush to his face when Keinvarii winked, and he became even more flustered when she spoke of females. He panted lightly, and then tried to play it cool by taking another drink at that moment. Luckily, she continued talking and changed the subject.
He lifted his dark brown face from the water and nodded enthusiastically. "Of course, it's only natural that you'd need me to demonstrate my skills for you." He was actually a bit nervous, but would ignore those feelings for the time being. "A promotion?" He was taken aback. Would he really be given such an honor so soon? "Uh..If that's what you think, my queen, then I would be honored." Siren smiled humbly at the female, "Do you have any hunting positions open? I think I'm rather good at fetching meals from sources of water..Which are clearly not lacking in your territory."

In fact the pack belonged to the land, a simple gift from nature and the Accord made sure to place forth its homage regularly for this privilege. She did however point this discretion out to Siren for if he remained with them for any length of time he would soon come to realize this important lesson. In the eventuality that he did not she would explain the concept to him in the best of her ability though this was a lesson be learnt in the solitary tranquility of one's own presence.
"You needn't act so surprise dear Siren, we value our members and with so few males it would do use well to place some in higher ranks." She had vaguely noted his discomfort and an small amused grin played across her maw. He would need to be a strong fellow to conquer any females in her pack, they were a group of survivors and all strong minded. Though perhaps a touch of softness would due them some good...Eyes sparkling at the thought of her pack members finding happiness she gave a sigh, there was still work to be done but the worst of the storm had passed.
"You are most welcome as Hunter Siren, you answer to the Lady of the Hunt Cyra, but you may always come to me for aid or conference as well. As Hunter you are required to pay regular homage to the earth for its contributions to our survival, do you accept this responsibility? You have one month of probation in which to prove deserving of this role, but I sure you are." She moved forward, blue eyes trained on the male's and gave him a soft nuzzling on his cheek of acceptance and welcome. He was one theirs now and would be treated with the same care, although Keinvarii would keep an eye on his progress in the pack.

But if any of the she-wolves were half as lovely as their leader, the hybrid wouldn't mind. The brown canine was relieved to hear that his skills would be evaluated fairly, and nodded happily to Keinvarii. "I'm glad you have confidence in me, I won't let you, or the pack, down." Even though he felt guilty about it, Siren knew he would be doing his best with thoughts of impressing the queen in mind.
Orange eyes watched curiously as the lupus walked forward. His breath caught in his throat when she nuzzled the side of his face. He knew it was a friendly gesture, but couldn't help the way his pulse suddenly sped up. Siren stayed stalk-still for fear of doing something wrong.
Then the comforting warmth of her fur was gone, and he suppressed a disappointed whine. Siren flashed Keinvarii a slightly dazed smile. "Thank you.." He said softly, referring both to the display of affection and the acceptance. "I hope to see you again soon."
He blinked and looked away from her. His short legs brought him away from the bank and down into the deep section of lake. Once Siren was underwater he dared to look back, seeking Keinvarii's green form through the ripples of the surface. Once she left he supposed he could begin his duty, but until then he was content to observe.
