The quiet daybreak across the lake caused a soft light to filter through the morning hours along the lake and to pierce the whisp body with tiny beams. Swalleena had said her goodbyes to the only pack member from the children she had really conversed with, Yueh the Chief, and had spent the night on the edge of the territory musing over her choice. No matter which way she looked at it she always came to the same conclusion; there was no other option but to leave and seek her soul's path elsewhere. Maybe she would find peace among the thick and heavy forest, high in the towering cliffs or among the mist that graced the lake's surface?
Either way the calling was too strong and the pull persistent, though she would miss the talks she'd never had the chance to have with Yueh, she would cherish the heart she would find in this new land. The pack seemed solid in their beliefs, strong and yet kind she could but hope they would be tolerant enough to allow a former Children's member into their midst. She could be of use with her healing power, but her fighting skills were non-existent though she could certainly play hide and seek masterfully. Sitting at the water's edge she let out a soft howl, the sound as clear and haunting as the smoke she could tun into.
She did not demand attention, but she did want to give the pack the courtesy of letting them know she was near. Looking over her shoulder she could just make out the mountains that cradled the Lumera Valley and with one last glance she bid the land farewell. She could only wish happiness for all of the wolves that dwelled in it and turn to face the future that welcomed her with calls of a wilder land and a more soulful spirit. Swalleena's green eyes blazed, the light of the daybreak igniting the gold sparks as she raised her head to let the wind tousle her fur in welcoming.
Already it felt like a weight had been lifted off her lithe shoulders and the past began to seem less dark, its oppressing weight had been suffocating her but for once she could breathe without the stench of loss, pain, greed and desperation in the air. Her mind traveled back to her dead son, how old would he have been now? What kind of a wolf would he have become? Her heart still ached for his loss, a mother's sorrow that never quite healed and reopened every time she saw a pup full of vivacious life. Her own pup had not been born out of love, forced upon Swalleena is a desperate attempt to rescue a dying pack, and from the moment he was born he was frail. The sickness that had killed the pack had also taken her pup in its greedy grasps and left her alone and to painful emptiness. Maybe this change would help abate these scars?

[atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/evelyn.png,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=height,700,true][scrolly:h(80),w(30),sy][/scrolly] | [scrolly:h(50),w(45),sy][/scrolly] | [scrolly:h(150),w(400),sy] Things had long changed, yet all for the better. There were only so many things that a pack could survive on and the meadow simply could not provide enough for them. There had been little shelter and the prey that did live there would have gone away into hibernation or have gone off to migrate, leaving the pack with little to eat. They were small enough as it was, and it would have been difficult to remain in their old home. Despite the memories that were there, the pack needed to leave and be reformed if it were to live once more. The Centena Accord would live long and strong, and she would make sure of such things within her extremely long lifetime. She would not let this pack die, not if she could help it. She might have been getting old, but she was ready for the things to come.
Evelyn had been patrolling the edge of the lake idly the past several hours, keeping an eye out for anything abnormal. While the pack settled down in its new home, she had found herself a few things to do. She did not need to hunt or eat for days at a time, for when she did the meal would be big enough to satisfy her for several days at a time. She ate off the life energy of her prey, so they never really died. Some would say that Lumen were a vegetarian species of some sort, but that wasn't really the case. Lumen only fed off of the life force of others because of a problem within their genetics that didn't allow them to digest proteins of meat. Granted, this wasn't something she could confirm for sure, it was simply how she thought of it to happen. It was simple thinking to her.
Her ears twitched when a howl resonated within the air, ringing against the rocks and echoing eerily across the land. A summoning howl, calling for someone to accept the caller into the pack. Such thoughts made her smile, glad that there were more and more wishing to join their home. It made her very happy to see that her and Keinvarii's work was truly beginning to pay off. She picked up her pace on the rocky beach and began to make her way towards the sound. It didn't take long for her long legs to allow her to reach a small, white winged wolf. Very small, for any wolf. She paused in her walking and smiled at the small thing. "Greetings, Whisp. I am Evelyn, Archduchess of the Centena Accord. What brings you here onto our lands?"

ooc; lol, yesh she is small, though she does stand at 48" haha. I luvs Evelyn.
Just as the tranquility was beginning to wash over the whisp a voice rose to greet her presence on the lake. Turning around with a small smile her eyes took in the shape of the wolf before her, the female's red eyes staring at her suggested a lumen as did the she-wolf white fur. Tail swishing rhythmically she rose to her feet, her long legs carrying her closer to the pack wolf. Her greeting had not been rough or accusatory, for this Swalleena was grateful, perhaps there was hope yet for her. The call of the loon greeted her from where it woke along the island banks and cries were beginning to rise form the waking forest.
The whisp stood in front of the lumen and she held a quietly regal posture of a simplistic grace. "Good day to you Archduchess Evelyn, my name is Swalleena, former Nurse for the Children." She paused, a jab of sadness stabbing at her, she was no longer a Children and this regret surprised her, was it because she missed the white brute? "You needn't be concerned about the reasons for my departure, this land call to me in a stronger voice then the Lumera Valley, I leave out of free will and choice." It was a stronger voice that pronounced these words, she was making the right decision, to this her heart was sure and more so then it had ever been.
"I seek to join your pack and its noble creed, I am a healer and can only hope this may be of use to the Accord." Swalleena left the matter at that, enough was said for the moment and she would divulge further on the matter as need be, but for now she had spoken just and true. Although changing packs may have seemed like a betrayal it was in fact a show of loyalty to her own soul, for too long she had remained poised ready to answer other's call and now she answered to her own.

[atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/evelyn.png,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=height,700,true][scrolly:h(80),w(30),sy][/scrolly] | [scrolly:h(50),w(45),sy][/scrolly] | [scrolly:h(150),w(400),sy] Very few times had she ever seen a Whisp in her life and each of them were very different. So far, she had taken a liking to this one. She seemed to be kind and gentle, one that would fit into the pack well, considering all of the different personalities that resided within. Though she was small, she wasn't as small as some she had seen. Some were much smaller, but she supposed that's because they were a rare type of Whisp. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of a Whisp joining the pack. She wasn't too sure what she'd be able to bring to them, but she knew that she could find a place. The female was a flier, and no one else had wings in the pack. Most were Lupus, one was a Cael, one was a Sennyo, and then there was her. A Lumen. Lumen were not supposed to get along with Lupus, but somehow she had overcome that barrier in her life. She respected and cared for each pack member there was, even the Lupus.
Free will and choice, eh? "A pleasure to meet you, Swalleena. I'm sure you will be greatly missed within your former pack. The Children are a good pack, with good intentions. However, if this land calls to you stronger, I cannot say that I complain." A smile toyed with the old wolf's lips. It was true that she couldn't help but be happy that more and more members would be entering their ranks, no matter what kind of rank it was. Healers and fighters were essential in any pack, because any wolf could hunt if they tried. It took someone well trained to fight and it took someone knowledgeable to be able to heal well. If this female was to be a part of their ranks, she would need to know what she excelled in. Very few could do certain things and she's bring her into the pack no matter what happened or what she could do. Anyone could enter this pack, for it was one massive family who never left one another sides.
"A healer, now? It takes someone very knowledgeable and skilled to be a healer. There are very few good ones in these lands. You would make a lovely addition to the pack, Savant Healer." She proposed the ranking to the female with a grin, wanting her to accept it. If she was as good as Evelyn believed she was, then she'd certainly have no problem proving it to the pack for a few weeks. Keinvarii would be pleased to know of a healer in their midst and Evelyn would need to ask for Swalleena to perhaps have a look at her leader. She knew that wound was still bothering her, no matter how old it was. Evelyn was no real magician, despite her ability to grant wishes and change the colors and opaque-ness of objects, and she could do nothing to take her leader's pain away. Only a healer could do that. For now, though, the Lumen would need to keep her attention on the task in front of her.
"Why did you leave the Children?" [/scrolly] |

Heart leaping at Evelyn`s word Swalleena gave the lumen a grateful smile stretching her wings wide in happiness. She could be part of this beautiful land and the other female had graced her with the gift of joining what called to her heart with such fervor. Already she could feel herself being drawn into the the wilderness, soul stretching to try and convince her physical body to move on and search within every nook and cranny until she came to know the land with loyal abandon. But the whisp would not be so hasty in her exploration, she needed to savor every moment of the discovery and revel in the strong grace of the land to allow her hidden scars to heal. The amazing solitude yet comforting embrace of this lake would be a balm to her emotional turmoil and a warrior against past ghosts.
Contentedly she replied, "I would be most honored to fill this role, you can be assure I shall do my best to uphold this rank with due diligence, my word is my honor." She gave a small bow of recognition to the lumen, more of a curtsy for her movements were soft and graceful as smoke from the tips of her fur flowed around her. The whisp's eyes reflected her sincerity, her loyalty was to the land and keeping its inhabitants safe for the lake was home. She felt this loyalty deep within her core and knew that it was the type of loyalty wolves had died for in the past, a deeper more ancient creed then most could fathom.
Perhaps it was the ancient nobility of the land that called to her heart, the traditional comfort of old habits and a regal pack that spoke to her? It was a logical deduction, for the whisp was born into such a pack, though her home of origin had been corrupted into pompous delusions of grandeur where as she knew this pack was a simple and noble royalty born from authenticity and cohesiveness. When her mother had turned a cold shoulder on her daughter as Swalleena had returned from her captive stay with the sickened pack for being soiled and no longer of use, the female had been forced to accept a cold and dark reality about the home she had treasured; it was all but an illusion.
She had stayed within the pack lands after being disowned and stripped of her title and rank for she was left aggrieved and unsure of where to turn to for shelter. During her quiet stay in the darkened corners of her pack's society she had learnt that the love she had thought her parents to have was another lie fed to her and the pack. Her father had but taken her mother for her mother purebred lineage and mated to be given heirs. It was during a particularly cold night that she had caught him sneaking away with a common female, their heinous laughs echoing into the night. This had finally forced Swalleena to leave, and had also shattered her illusions about love and family as well.
Luckily it had not tarnished her caring nature, but from that point on she had only devoted herself to the weak and wounded, tending to the healing of their souls until the Great Spirit had gifted her with the ability to heal bodies as well. Yet despite her gifts she remained unable to heal herself, her mind or her body, and was cursed to only heal others. She could not close her wounds, could not abate her bleeding nor mend her own broken bones and for this she sought out solitude to prevent placing herself in harm's way. Swalleena did not know what cause this blockage in her power, and it left her terribly vulnerable to the elements.
Evelyn's question tore her from her thoughts, a saving grace considering the direction they were headed in. She would gladly answer the question for she was now part of the pack and could return the gift with honesty. "I left because it was not home. Although beautiful I could not feel anything pulling me there, and until placing foot in this land felt but like a cloud without direction." She chuckled, the sound light and smooth, she was a bit of a cloud in truth, the metaphor appropriate. "There are no hard feelings where I come from, just a clear understanding that change is inevitable until we find what we seek, and I have begun to find it here in Lake Amarenthyst." She gazed at the lumen, waiting for a reaction to her words. Were they acceptable? She had tried to not be vague, but affairs of the soul were seldom clear to the whisp.

There was not much they could do to heal themselves, especially after the long journey hear. Despite Faye's knowledge on healing, as she had in what was formerly known as the Philia Alliance, they did need more than just herbs and old tricks. Some plants or medicines couldn't cure all wounds. A healing gift would be a great blessing in the pack and she was sure Keinvarii would be pleased with her decision in accepting this female within their ranks. However, it would take some time before she trusted her.
Evelyn had trust issues, things she could not get past since she had been hurt so much. Though, she was not second in command for nothing. Yes, she had tried hard and remained with the pack as it made it's move about the lands. She had been there through the hardships it endured, and it had not entirely been her idea to move the pack. Keinvarii had suggested it, but she had supported it. It had been for a long while that she believed the pack needed to leave the meadow. While it was beautiful and held many memories, the pack would not survive much longer there without something more. The prey was dying off and there was little shelter. They would not have survived the winter. The Lumen also only trusted Stone with her life, something she rarely gave away, and her heart belonged only to one other, but he was gone.
The Lumen gave a small smile at her answer, of how she would remain loyal to the pack and serve her position the best that she could. Of course she would, for Evelyn did not take to traitors well unless a wolf leaving the pack had a good reason to leave. She was more defensive if someone truly betrayed them, and it was not something she would ever stand for. On her own terms, she would give the female a chance, but she was positive the pack would love her. The old wolf was not as open as most would think, especially with her being surrounded by Lupus, the species that was meant to be the Lumen's mortal enemy. She only trusted those with her life she knew she could, but her secrets were another matter.
"It was not home. I understand that. A wolf can be a nomad as much as they need until they find the right place that truly calls for them." She paused a moment, staring her down with her crimson eyes. "I know the pack will adore you, but I, on the other hand, will not open myself so easily. It is a normal thing, so please do not be offended. It will take time and you will have to prove yourself to me when you least expect it before I trust you completely. Don't do anything outrageous, just be yourself. I'm sure the answer will come with time. Now, shall I show you around?" [/scrolly] |

Outrageous? This brougth a great smile to her maw, she never intended to be outrageous, it just happened to her. Scandalous being more of a truer natured word, but it was all in the eye of the beholder. Swalleena would stay dutifully out of trouble and fervently hope it did not seek her out. Laughing, the light sound was delicate and light and rather amused. "Do not fear such actions, I am hardly the type, of this you can be assured. Really rather dull."
Perhaps too dull at that, really for such a quiet wolf she had been many places and experienced significant experiences, not all particularly good and some considerably awful. Mayhap this was the dawn of a new day for her, the true meaning of a fresh start. She had always considered it to be a continuation of what already was, but the more she pondered the matter the more it made sense that this was an awakening.
She understood Evelyn admonition, it was just and it was honest and Swalleena nodded her head in acknowledgment. She herself was never one prone to trusting others, though her outward friendly disposition did not betray this harsher reality. "Very well, I can certainly understand such an honest statement. Perhaps we may yet gain each other's trust in seasons to come?" It was likely as such, if Evelyn ever saw the solitary whisp for just like lumens, whisps were known for excellent camouflage and speedy flight. It would be interesting to play hide and seek with the female some day, Swalleena was not above such childish games for adults played them everyday, whether they were aware of it or not.
