This was one of many disadvantages of having a corpse for a body. He grunted heavily as his legs started to drag along the marshy ground and collapsed under his remaining weight. Soon he felt damp around his belly area and felt his ribs digging into the muddy ground uncomfortably. His body squirmed around in a pathetic attempt to make him feel comfortable. Bah! In this undead state there was no comforts! He spat angrily with all of his emotions in a jumbled up state inside him. There was no single moment of calm peace for him, it was always angry and complicated. Ajax could not remember when he was cheerful and relaxed last. It definitely was when he was with his family many decades ago. Decades! He tore the grass up in front of him with his yellowing claws and felt the dampness of the mud sticking under his claws. He hissed again but this time his anger was directed at that irritating mud.
After scraping the last of the sticky mud from his claws he felt a smooth something slithering away from his ribs. Alarmed he whipped his disfigured head around and spotted a green slithering beast moving towards the thick grass a few metres away. It didn't take long when the old rage of his overwhelmed him, propelling his muzzle to strike at the snake. He felt a cold sensation trickling from his maw just before he caught hold of the smooth body. Growling, he realised that he had been bitten and snapped his jaws shut, crunching the fragile bones of the poor animal in his mouth. Some of them stabbed him in the tongue painlessly, filling his mouth with his own tangy blood mixed with those of the snake's.
He dropped the crushed body to his paws and started to paw at it almost playfully. The brutal slaughter of the serpent gave him some satisfaction. He still had a control over others' life even though he had no over his own. He wasn't as lost as he had thought so often. Ajax's gleaming red eyes darted at the broken body and quickly tore it into pieces with his rotting claws before tossing it away, scaring a few jackalopes into hopping away. A sneer was on his face as he watched them jumping away. They could run but he couldn't. They could escape him but he couldn't. Hell, he even could not die!

An idiot he was. It wasn’t of the norm for him to wander about through the swamp area, hell, Clovis hadn’t even been there before, and yet now, there he was. A pained expression was clear on his face as he took nervous steps through the damp and muddied ground. He watched as the pale blue fur that covered his paws begin to turn brown and dirtied, filth building up and slowly creeping up his body. It wasn’t like he was a pompous brat who couldn’t be dirtied, but he liked to have some class and appear clean and the feeling of mud clinging to his fur was something he didn’t enjoy in the slightest. He grimaced as he felt his paw sink deep into the mud, pulling it out slowly and lifting it to examine the brown that covered him. A sigh escaped his lips as he set it down and began his journey once more.
This was his second time going to places where he didn’t want to go, venturing lands where encounters with water and damp filthy earth was a sure guarantee. The first was when he had been at the ocean’s shore, and assaulted by the waves as they crashed against him. Now it was the Najiro Swamp lands that had come into his path. Clovis felt so far away from the Children, and closer to something much more dangerous. His brow arched as a pair of jackalope came into view, growing curious as to why they were here. He hadn’t expected to find them in these lands, but they seemed common as he noticed others dotting the area far ahead of him. He gave another thoughtful glance before walking again, still with his slow and cautious pace.
He had heard of these lands before, full of dangerous beings and multitudes of mud and strange water. Never had he thought of venturing through them. His wings pressed tight against his body as he tried not to touch the surrounding greenery. It was a bit painful, but he quickly waved it off with the fear of what might have been lurking around him. A strained yelp found it’s way into the air as Clovis felt something brush against his body. Quickly turning around, he scanned over the ground in search for the offender. Staring dumbfounded, he relaxed as he realized it had only been a leaf protruding out from ground. Giving a shaky chuckle, he turned back into the direction he originally he was in and started off again, still hoping for a way out of the wicked marshes.
The pale blue whisp sucked in a sharp breath as he saw the tail of a snake disappear under the greenery. Hoping to avoid the creature, he took several quick steps forward but stopped dead in his tracks when the sound of crushing bones reached his ears. Instinct screamed at him to run, run far away from this fresh hell and find somewhere safe and with a lack of water. But curiosity told him to go and look, take a peak of whatever lay beyond him. It was as if it was whispering to him, gentle voices telling him to just snag a glance and find the strange being.
And so curiosity got the better of him. Clovis followed the direction of where the snake had disappeared to. Shivers ran through his body as he felt the grass and leaves brush against him, wet with water and threatening him to bolt off. Not finding the green slithering creature at first, sea blue and green eyes scanned the area, not finding the snake, but rather falling upon something else entirely. The stranger was obviously wolf, but something made him want to doubt that. Bones protruding through flesh and flesh not visible in places where need be. The whisp took in a deep breath, completely taken back by the being before him. Clovis opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out.
Curiosity would be the death of him, but he swore he was no cat. Just an incredibly idiotic moron.

Their fear distracted him from his bothersome thoughts. He observed their wide, stricken eyes and their hasty movements until they vanished from his sight along with their noises. Silence settled around him quickly, so fast that it was quite unnerving. But not for him. Nothing could frighten him now that he was living in a hell. He was living in his twisted fear. But seeing other wolves, vibrant, alive wolves usually stab him with a painful pang of loss. This was the reason he came here; this swamp was unpopular with wolves despite its abundance of prey. He fell onto his side and felt his ribs moving under him unpleasantly, and the stickiness of the mud sliding against the internal flesh. But he had learnt to ignore those awful sensations after years and years.
He twitched his leathery nose and ear (since one was ripped off by that blasted Thana) as something alerted him. He twisted his head around and saw a pale winged wolf. He was quick to assume that he was an oddly-coloured keiyou because Ajax had not seen or heard of this whisp species. He hissed inaudibly and raised his body away from the muddy ground and moved around so that he could see the newcomer clearly. But the newcomer should see the full appearance of this mortui, especially his terrifying face with a gaping hole for a cheek and one ear shredded. He smiled and the blackening teeth exposed behind the cheek glinted under the fading sun. He felt strangely happy when he saw how uneasy this stranger was.
Perhaps he could have a fun with this one... Hell, yeah, he would. Ripping that snake into pieces wasn't as fun as he had expected so he decided this one would provide him the amusement he wanted. "Welcome, welcome!" He limped towards the light cyan wolf, grinning almost insanely. "Welcome to the marsh. You can call me Ajax and I'll be your guide." His red eyes glinted in the falling darkness with a hidden malice. Oh it would be interesting to see how this keiyou behave around this mortui. Everyone had wrinkled their noses, left, or challenged him. If he would do something different... well a change would be lovely. There was a new sneer on his face at the thought.

Clovis would have been lying if he said he wasn’t scared shitless. Well it wasn’t only that, but also the mild curiosity he had in the other. He felt his skin trickle with fear when he heard the strange wolf speak. Startle, entirely by his appearance and his choice of words, the whisp stared with large blue eyes. Welcome to the marsh. You can call me Ajax and I'll be your guide. Guide? Ajax? Clovis felt slightly overwhelmed and had the strong urge to just smoke up and run away and hopefully never see the other ever again. But another part of him told him no, the same part that whispered to him to go and find what mystery lay before him.
He had never seen anything like the other, he hadn’t even heard it through his mother’s strange stories. Science and reasoning told him the wolf should be dead, but there the wolf was, and soon science and reasoning had become void. The whisp wanted to smother the other in a multitude of questions and learn more about his... condition. But hinting fear caused him to bite his tongue and keep his mouth shut for the time being. There was no doubt though that his curiosity would get the best of him once more, and his urge to learn and gain knowledge would grow more profound. Clovis still didn’t know how to respond to the other, though. The grin the stranger had upon his lips rendered him speechless as he continued to feel the fear creep up against him.
”G-guide?” the pale blue wolf choked out. He tried not to seem so scared, but his voice easily betrayed him. ”What would a guide be doing in such... such a strange place?” He inquired, a shaky laugh escaping his maw. Clovis was unable to think up a clever reply, but he answered anyway. His eyes continued to look over the wolf that called himself Ajax. It came to him he had yet to say his name, but honestly he didn’t want to. ”Clovis, by the way” he added in a rushed voice. He wanted to ask other questions, though, and wanted to understand. But that would be for later, if he managed to last that long...

There was traces of fear in his cyan eyes and he smiled sweetly, like the way a mother would tend to her frightened child. Oh, how fun this shall be. He moved towards the keiyou and stood besides him. As he observed the frightened stranger, his eyes spotted a full tail instead of the usual lion-like tail of a keiyou. A hybrid? His red eyes moved up from the tail to the 'hybrid's' face thoughtfully. Whatever this wolf was he would provide an entertainment for this fearsome mortui. Well, if he refused, Ajax would make him, of course. He always get what he wanted no matter how long it might take.
He smiled at the stranger again so dearly. But there were hints of sadism and patronisation around his lips. "Mister Clovis, what would a guide be doing anywhere else?" He laughed lightly; "Guiding visitors of course, silly!" He moved forwards and spotted a lone jackalope eyeing at him. Ajax snickered and made a false movement of attacking it and it dashed away suddenly. "Now, believe it or not, the swamp does have some interesting offers." He licked his lips and his eyes glittered mischievously with hidden depths. This wolf was rather naive and it would be easy to get him to believe anything he might say.
ooc; sorry for the epic shortness. I really gotta go :c
