Don't worry Phoenix, I wasn't thinking along those lines at all. More marks on the TREE, to represent the pack's history, not on the wolves... so that the tree is like a record of the pack, as well as a sacred object.
OHMAIGOSH Crow that is AWESOME

Oh my goodness. I just had the best idea for the rank of Kisaki. What if the species is Lumen to 'light the way of the Via' en metaphor? Also, I'm not sure... While I would love to be the Kisaki (who wouldn't? XD.) This was mostly your idea, Cahaya, and I wouldn't want you to feel like I'm taking credit or stealing the pack from you... so the question is: would you like to be head honcho? I would quite enjoy it, but its up to you.

Hmmm. I do like that idea. Magi's table quote was pretty much on those kind of lines - "If I have the power of light, let me light up your heart." XDD love you Magi. I'm not sure as to whether Lumen would really lead a pack though. With the Alliance we were told no. But then again, Lumen are supposed to be arrogant and think they're oh-so-amazing and other species are nothing, and the Kisaki is also rather arrogant and believes she's descended from the Great Spirit and all other wolves are lesser. I definitely like this idea. Lumen it is. Unless we're told no. I'm sure it'll be OK though. I like that idea. And I remember with the Alliance we were told Lumen can't really defend a territory which is the alpha's duty, but the Kisaki doesn't do defending. She does sitting around looking dignified. The Shogun does defending. I honestly don't mind who plays the Kisaki. Especially since the power's divided; the Kisaki is the leader in THEORY, but really the Kisaki's just a figurehead to do ceremonies and most of the actual day-to-day decision-making is done by the Shogun. The Kisaki outranks her, but she is there to be worshipped and to sit around looking special and being imperious, not really to make day-to-day decisions or lead the army. It's the Shogun who's the real leader, even though she's kept in check by the Kisaki. It's a bit like a constitutional monarchy, really. We have one of those in England. Except in England nobody has the power to chop off people's heads, and certainly not the monarch. For the founding, we probably need five characters - Kisaki, Shogun, Vesta Shuhan, Minerva Shuhan, Diana Shuhan. Since their bloodlines are supposed to be so special (that's why daughters inherit the ranks) it'd be a bit odd if an ordinary wolf was picked up from somewhere in WW and just promoted to that rank. It'd be hard to plot an 'ancient special bloodlines' pack unless the characters actually did have them. Ummm umm just so it's less confusing while I talk about this let's call the princess who ran away to WW to found the Circle, um, Bobette. It's easier than referring to her as 'the wolf who ran away from whatever pack to come to WW and found the Circle'. And her sister, who got to be Kisaki of the old pack, can be called Bobalina. Because it's easier than calling her 'the Kisaki of the Circle's sister who got to be Kisaki of the old pack'. Just temporarily. Come to that, we'll need names for all these characters and packs in history... Obviously founders' names are up to the owners but if the old pack/Bobalina ever needs mentioning in posts they'll need names. The founders will all probably have to be newly-made characters so they can be part of the Intrepid Runaway Princess Rebel Group. Volunteers? Who's gonna play what? I wouldn't mind any of them myself. Obviously Bobette will need to be an arrogant Lumen who's convinced she's descended from the Great Spirit and has rights to rule with the power of life and death over all wolves. The Shogun will need to be quite good friends with Bobette because obviously they're friends since Bobette chose her as Shogun. She'd also be pretty full of herself because she's a Shuhan's daughter and a Shogun. Obviously she wouldn't have been Shogun back in the old pack, because she's Bobette's friend and not Bobalina's. Bobalina would have chosen the old-pack Shogun. The Shogun of the Circle will probably have been a daughter of a Shuhan, or possibly even a Shuhan, who chose to go away with Bobette because she believed she was the rightful leader. The Shuhans will need to be like their Clans, because they're the ones who are supposed to be guiding the Clans on that particular path. Vesta's will need to be kind and value hospitality and fairness and suchlike, Minerva's will need to be warlike and brave, and Diana's will need to be really smart. Although all of them would have grown up with the Via and so believe in glory through prowess in battle, obeying your superiors instantly, and living an honourable and dignified life. Though there could be more going on behind the scenes they will need to have some reason to be taking their Clan in that direction. Hmm. What species would the Shuhans be? Probably not Lumen - we can't have an ALL lumen leadership. I'm THINKING that the Minerva Clan would have a Yagi Shuhan, the Diana Clan would have a Kukkien or Lyxxus Shuhan, and the Vesta Clan would have a Sennyo Shuhan. A Myou Shuhan might be interesting though. They definitely wouldn't be Cael or Eremus (they're very specialised to one particular terrain) or Lupus (since the lumen Kisaki doesn't like them) or Lumen (since the Kisaki is already Lumen). Keiyou might happen though. Don't know. Probably will be left up to whoever ends up creating the Shuhans. Especially if one of those species is banned. Oh and obviously the Shogun would probably be mother/sister of one of the Shuhan. Unless there was more than 3 Clans in the old pack and they all came from different ones? That probably works. That allows the Shogun and three Shuhan to be all different species if wanted, as well. Hmmm... there is one problem with having a Lumen Kisaki. Lupus (since the lumen hate that species) wouldn't be much liked. I think they would probably be tolerated in the pack but I'm not sure they'd be allowed to be samurai. Definitely not Shuhan. I think lupus would be looked down on a bit anyway - using magic instead of skill to win a fight is cheating and dishonourable. Obviously there's still room for experimentation and freedom in there. SO... who wants a founder? *waves pretty high ranks* Summarise. Because I like summarising and lists and things because I'm an aspie and I'm just like that. -Kisaki, Lumen, needs to be made -Shogun, whatever species, needs to be made -Diana Shuhan, probably lyxxus/kukkien, probably mine. -Minerva Shuhan, probably yagi, needs to be made -Vesta Shuhan, probably sennyo, needs to be made If nobody else wants the Diana Shuhan position I think I'll take Diana Shuhan. Not too much responsibility but still a big role in the pack. And then once I'm settled in more my wolf can maybe one day become Shogun if it turns out that way. If not I'm fine too. Diana Shuhan is also just the kind of wolf I like playing - smart, dignified, honourable, a few people to bow too but still pretty high in rank, cunning, manoeuvring for power with the other two Shuhan. I'll have her be Kukkien since me playing lyxxus is possibly not the best idea. (I have a tendency to fire up whenever I'm playing any small character in a fight because I assume any blow which hits them is the other person thinking that because she's small she's useless and then my activist brain goes mad with 'small equals BETTER at fighting not worse' and meh and everything goes downhill from there. Me playing small characters not good idea.) So if nobody objects to that I think I'll play a Kukkien, Diana Shuhan. I'll think up a name later. - Also, what kind of relationships would the pack have with other packs? Obviously the Kisaki believes she's descended from the Great Spirit and has the ultimate RIGHT to power of life and death over all wolves. She would probably be very snobbish to other packs and show no respect for their alphas or whatever. This might not be the best way to form alliances. On the other hand the Geisha could use their awesome diplomacy skills and make some friendships. The Gladia Circle would not like the Enclave. At all. Because of their attitude towards females. Sorry, Chess. The Kisaki would probably declare all out war on them as soon as she heard that they're male-dominated, which could prove interesting. I'd need to talk to Chess though because if all this ends up happening I don't want to declare war on Chess' pack without discussing it first. Might be awkward XD. For the same reason they wouldn't like the Empire. I know that males are only slightly higher ranked than females but to the Circle male EQUALITY is hard to live with (because they're mean like that XDD), let alone being higher ranked. I don't know how they'd feel about the Children. They'd probably be tempted to declare war just on the basis of they USED to be discriminating, even if they're not now. The Circle would be REALLY touchy about the whole feminine-rule thing. They'd probably be very careful of the Children though since they're MASSIVE (*green with envy* I want that many members!) Obviously Mafia relations wouldn't really go well. Unless the Mafia wolves are willing to bow and scrape before the Kisaki and show respect. Don't think so. Again, would need to talk to the alpha, Som in this case. They'd like the Cadre. Obviously we'd need to talk to Arty and East because they play the alphas. But they'd approve of the way the pack gives higher ranks to those who win fights, and its dignity and respect and stuff. With Arty and East's agreement I'd make them friendly. And the Accord... well, they'd probably approve of them being led by a female. Would need to talk to Som about their relations. I suspect the Accord would disapprove of the Circle. The Circle is all about all the things that the Accord is supposed to give wolves freedom from, like dictators and rules and not-exactly-equal rights.

Okay, well, I have no problem with being Kisaki (XD) so I shalt claim that rank, if you have no objection, Cahaya...? The Lumen in the Accord is actually friends with the Lupus, but the entire magic-not-skill would perhaps make them a tad less liked, but nothing major. Of course, the Lumen is 'related to a god' and therefore, would probably discriminate, unless she's like, "eh, you don't deserve my prescence" kind of thing. Now then! DONATIONS/FOUNDERS = High ranks. (Because I work like that.) I will create the Lumen soon, don't worry, and voila! Let's see, perhaps the 'Bobalina' could be named something Japanese or odd, so maybe Akihiro (great brightness) and the Bobette (presumably my char) would be 'Amaterasu' or "shining heaven" (enforcing her belief). Otherwise, clicky for Japanese names and meanings. ^^ Questions?... :D

I don't think all of the high ranks should be given out to specially-made characters. If this pack doesn't end up being created, then those characters would have little to no purpose. I think that the Kisaki should bring one or two worshipers and that's it. In the mean time the Circle should begin gathering members and have them appointed to the high ranks once they prove loyal. I also don't think it's a good idea to choose specific species for specific ranks at the moment. I suggest we focus on just getting this pack off the ground.
I definitely approve of the relations xD Although I imagine they might have a shaky friendship with the mafia if they recruit some assassins to do a little dirty work...Say attacking members of the packs the Circle dislikes?

Hmm, I suppose you're right, though the species will play a role.... Perhaps the mafia and them could have a 'shaky friendship,' as you say, but I'm not sure.....

That is a good point. I do wonder how we would plot around doing 'their bloodlines are so special and ancient' if they're regular chars, though. If anybody can think of one, I definitely want to hear it.
I certainly think the Kisaki and Shogun would be newlymades, and my Diana Shuhan is gonna be one. But maybe the other two Shuhan... thoughts?

Ameratasu sounds awesome. Have fun, Verb. I'm not sure of the relations with the Mafia. The Circle does not do dirty work. It follows the Via. While the Circle would probably love to arrange for everybody they don't like to be assassinated by the Mafia, they don't work that way. The Via demands that they face their enemies in fair, open combat, not let somebody else do it or slit their throat when they're asleep. Rituals sound great! In fact, I had an awesome idea - what if they believed in ancestor spirits? This would enforce the Via, because your ancestors are watching over you demanding you follow it. It also makes the 'you inherit ranks through blood' thing make sense, because the ancestor spirits would watch over you and want you to have that rank, because you're their family. It makes adoptions/chosen heirs make sense, because even if you're not IN that family, you could be considered a blood heir because a special ritual makes the ancestor spirits 'take you in' as part of that family. It would be really cool if they believed in, like, an 'original pack', and your first ancestors are the special ones you're directly descended from. And they could tell stories to cubs about the wolves in the 'original pack' - the first ever Shuhans and the first Kisaki and Shogun. The Shuhans could have been named Diana, Vesta and Minerva (to have their Clans named after them) and Diana could supposedly have been really quick and smart and dignified, Vesta could supposedly have been really just and fair and kind and loyal, and Minerva could supposed to have been really brave and fierce and skilful at fighting. They could be, like, the ones wolves tell stories to their cubs about. That would mean we could have normal characters playing the Minerva and Vesta Shuhans - because the Kisaki, in a special ritual like Ethereal suggested, could ask the ancestor spirits Minerva and Vesta to adopt the new wolves into their family, thus making them Shuhan with Shuhan bloodlines. I really like that idea but it's a pretty big change, so... unsure. Thoughts? If that goes ahead, we can take original characters (unless somebody else WANTS a specially made one) to be the Shuhans. Obviously the Vesta Shuhan will need to be fair and kind, and the Minerva Shuhan will need to be a really good fighter. And they will both need to be female, and quite warlike and ceremonial and believe in honour, otherwise they wouldn't join the Circle / be Shuhans. So if anybody has a wolf that would fit either position, come say hi. That means we've got; Kisaki - played by Verb - Ameratasu? Shogun - still need Diana Shuhan - played by meeee - hmmm Minerva Shuhan - still need Vesta Shuhan - still need Once we've got all the founders we can think about making pack table, sorting out who's donating what, etc I might bring Aoika back and have her be in this. She's not really good for Diana Shuhan though so I'll make a new char for that. I have to have a new char - I can hardly use Cayie! I'm thinking of calling her Izumi (the temptation is to name her Hoshi but I want to bring old Hoshi back at some point XDD). I've always liked 'Kimiko' (I love Japanese names) but that means 'empress child' so maybe not. She's only a Shuhan, after all. Mizumi's the Diana Shuhan so she'll be a quick-witted, ambitious, wise, super-dignified jet-black Kukkien with pale green eyes and coppery-coloured markings. Now I need 15 IC posts. Bother. Of course, even if the Circle doesn't end up getting created, that doesn't necessarily mean the characters have no purpose. I personally think that if the Circle didn't end up being created, the characters could throw a right tantrum that nobody respected them / would join their pack, and run around being arrogant and offended all the time. It could be quite funny. -- I'm also thinking we might need more than one founding thread. They need to arrive, get the omen by the cherry tree, declare the cherry tree sacred and decide to stay in WW and form a pack. That's one thread. Then another to meet the other founders. Then another to perform the ritual and formally create the pack and claim the territory. I just think that there's a lot that needs to happen so it might be best to have three threads. And after all, pack founders don't just meet up one day and decide to form a pack. They'd meet each other first. And presumably there'd be a REASON for the Kisaki to perform the ritual and give these wolves the Shuhanship... maybe they get in danger and the WW-wolves save the newlymades' lives, so they decide to reward them with the Shuhanship? -- Alright then, I haz been working on a pack table. The code is missing from the official thread so I stole it off the Order. Sorry, Order. So if you're wondering why it has Order colours, that's why. I'm a little unsure as to how to organise it. The Circle's organization is unique. Where most packs are purely vertical, the Circle is horizontal as well, if that makes any sense. I think the best thing would be to have three columns for Samurai and Peasant ranks - one for Minerva, Vesta and Diana - but I don't know how to do that or whether a deviation from the standard table code would even be allowed. As it is, it's bulky and clutterful and misleading - it makes it look as though the Diana are higher ranked than the Vesta, and the Vesta higher ranked than the Minerva. They should be side by side. And I can't help wondering if there should be more separate tiers - one for the Kisaki and Keishi and Shogun, the rulers, one for the Nakamura and Kousen and Kyuui, the advisers, one for the Shuhan and Asu and Kouyuu, the clan leaders, one for the regular samurai, one for peasants, one for slaves... or is that far too much? Oh, and I think we need to introduce a 'royal family' rank. Children of a Shuhan who weren't the eldest would probably just become regular samurai (though respected, and with a chance to become Asu if the current one died) but children of the Kisaki who aren't Keishi? Where would they go? I've put one in (Shuzoku). [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,1,true][atrb=width,500,true][cs=2] | [cs=2][bg=660099] G L A D I A . The Gladia Circle is a pack founded on the principles of honour, following a code of honour called the Via. It is an all-female pack, believing that males do not have the subtlety of mind or strength of spirit for the Via. The Via dictates many different aspect of these wolves' lives, meaning that this is a pack of ancient ceremony, ritual and tradition. The Via calls for the wolves of the pack to respect the Kisaki, who the pack believes in descended from the Great Spirit. It also says that no one wolf should have too much power, and so a balance is created between the highest-ranked wolves and between three different Clans that compete against each other within the pack. The centre of their beliefs is their sacred cherry tree at the centre of their territory, surrounded by different areas of the land where the three Clans have influence.

E X P L A N A T I O N S | [atrb=width,200][bg=151B54] Kisaki | [bg=ECE5B6]The Kisaki is a wolf to whom all honour and obeisance is directed. Believed to be descended from the Great Spirit, it is death to disobey or disrespect her. She has absolute power over all living creatures, but in practise she usually chooses not to exercise this power, leaving the experienced Shogun to keep peace and defend her borders and laws. Only those of the Kisaki's royal blood may carry this title, as they are watched over benevolently by the Great Spirit.
| [bg=151B54] Keishi | [bg=FAF8CC]The firstborn non-hybrid daughter of the Kisaki will always take this rank. She is a wolf of great power, and must be respected; one day this wolf will be Kisaki. She is to be protected as she learns all she can so that one day she will make a fine Kisaki. If she is old enough, she may exercise a little power of her own when she so wishes; she outranks everybody except her esteemed mother.
| [bg=151B54] Shuzoku | [bg=ECE5B6]Daughters of the Kisaki who are not the firstborn will be given this rank. Often they constantly compete for their mother's attention, especially when there is hope that the firstborn will be considered unfit and one of the Shuzoku will be given the rank of Keishi. They are given respect by all but often have little to no purpose in the pack and wolves are often slightly awkward acting with them, unsure of their position. The rank and authority of Shuzoku varies a great deal depending on how their sister thinks of them. Most Shuzoku give up their rank and join one of the Clans as a respected samurai once old enough; others stay on and act as advisors and helpers to their elder sister.
| [bg=151B54] Shogun | [bg=ECE5B6]Chosen from among the Shuhan, the Shogun has absolute power over all of the pack, excepting the Kisaki and Keishi. While the Kisaki has command of the pack, in reality, the Kisaki is mostly a figurehead and the Shogun carries out the day-to-day work of organising the pack's defence and telling their subjects what to do. While she technically gives up her Clan loyalty when she becomes Shogun and becomes loyal only to the Circle and the Kisaki, in reality she is rarely impartial when deciding Clan disputes. When the position becomes open the Kisaki chooses the most powerful Shuhan to be the Shogun, hence the Clans always vying for power and favour. In effect, then, the Shogun is the leader of the pack, although they still must obey, honour and respect the Kisaki. Their power is not absolute or untouchable; if the Kisaki deems them unfit for the position they are returned to their Clan and a new Shogun is chosen.
| [bg=151B54] Nakamura | [bg=FAF8CC]The rank of Nakamura is the highest position any lowborn wolf can achieve. While it is not always necessary to have this rank full, the Nakamura acts as an assistant to the Shogun and an administrator, looking after day-to-day problems and helping to keep the peace within the pack. That leaves the Shogun to concentrate on more important issues. Unlike most positions, any (samurai) wolf can be chosen as Nakamura - it's based on skill, not birth.
| [bg=151B54] Kousen | [bg=ECE5B6]Essentially, the Kousen is the most skilled tactician in the pack. She advises the Shogun on battle tactics and border defence. The Kousen is respected in this warlike pack; although in times of peace she merely acts as a normal samurai, in battle she is always at the side of the Shogun and is often behind the battle strategy. Unlike most positions, any (samurai) wolf can be chosen as general - it's based on skill, not birth.
| [bg=151B54] Kyuui | [bg=FAF8CC]Whichever samurai has the best healing skills in the pack will be given this rank, unless she is called to another. Other samurai can use healing skills too, but the Kyuui is the official 'doctor'. She often acts as the head of the Geisha. She is charged with keeping the Kisaki and her family in perfect health and tending to the Samurai if they have life-threatening illnesses/injuries. For the most part, though, the ordinary samurai are expected to bear through, and the Kyuui's skills are reserved for the higher ranks. Unlike most positions, any (samurai) wolf can be chosen as Kyuui - it's based on skill, not birth.
| [cs=2][bg=FBB917] From this rank below, the Circle is split into three Clans. Each rank is duplicated throughout each of the Clans. While the whole pack follows the whole of the Via, each Clan is known for its dedication to a particular part of it; Diana for dignity and wisdom, Minerva for courage and skill in battle, and Vesta for justice and benevolence. Each Clan is usually to be found constantly vying with the other Clans for dominance and the favour of the Kisaki, and whichever Clan the Shogun is currently from usually holds a huge advantage.
| [bg=151B54] Shuhan | [bg=ECE5B6]Each Shuhan is the leader of their respective Clan. There is only ever one per Clan and they are the undisputed leader, to be treated with honour and respect and given instant obedience by all those in their Clan. Over her own Clan, her authority is absolute and her power is that of life and death. Over other Clans, her authority is a little more complicated and each situation must be treated with delicate care and political cunning.
| [bg=151B54] Asu | [bg=FAF8CC]The word means 'tomorrow' and it fits the rank. The Asu is the future Shuhan of her Clan, the heir to all that power. The eldest daughter of the Shuhan will always gain this rank. She is equal with the Clan's Kouyuu and is tasked with learning about one day being Shuhan and helping to look after and lead the pack. If the Shuhan has no daughters or her firstborn is not suitable for command, then she can name a non-related or non-firstborn wolf to be heir and adopt her in a special ritual, providing that wolf is samurai-born and not lowborn. All the Shuhan's daughters apart from the eldest are treated as regular samurai. If the Asu is old enough, she can exercise her own power and give orders, as well as simply watching and learning.
| [bg=151B54] Kouyuu | [bg=ECE5B6]Usually the Shuhan's best childhood friend will be given the rank of Kouyuu. She is advisor and deputy to the Shuhan for the entire of the Shuhan's reign; when and if the Shuhan steps down and a new one is chosen, the new Shuhan can choose either to keep the Kouyuu on or retire her and give the rank to her own friends (usually the latter). The Kouyuu helps the Shuhan to lead the Clan and will often lead battle parties or attend political events in her stead. The Asu will usually be influenced by her mother to spend a lot of time with a particular young wolf who the Shuhan considers good Kouyuu material, so that when they grow up that wolf will be Kouyuu. If the Shuhan dies without naming an Asu, the Kouyuu becomes Shuhan.
| [bg=151B54] Samurai | [bg=FAF8CC]Samurai are the basis of the pack at upper levels. Their job is to fight, boss peasants around, act important, serve their Shuhan, constantly train their fighting skills, lecture people about the Via, and generally serve the pack in whatever ways are considered dignified enough for their rank. Most are glory-hunters, always vying for promotion and their superiors' trust. In battle, the samurai are the pack's first line of defence.
| [bg=151B54] Geisha | [bg=ECE5B6]Those samurai who find that their talents do not lie in honour and glory through prowess in battle may become geisha. Geisha are the source of peace in a rather warlike pack. They are there to remind the pack of the proud ideals and the beauty and the peace that is the reason they fight and value battle skills so much. Their job is mainly as friends and entertainers, to make music, create art, and compose poetry. They are also used as ambassadors and messengers to other packs. They also have some training as medics, so they can help the Kyuui to heal and look after the pack.
| [bg=151B54] Teishi | [bg=FAF8CC]A peasant with unusual skills in fighting, good moral conduct and whose parents weren't complete delinquents may become a Teishi. This is the only way for a non-samurai to become samurai. The Teishi hurries around after the samurai doing whatever they order and training in fighting and studying the Via. If they perform an act of bravery or very good deed they can be made Samurai, a great honour. If this happens, they are samurai forever and all their descendants will also be samurai. If they are demoted or retire without this happening, they and their descendants will remain peasants.
| [bg=151B54] Oshiego | [bg=ECE5B6]Oshiego are the children of samurai. When still young, they're looked after by the pack. When slightly older, they follow the samurai around and copy whatever they do. When older still, they can be given some responsibility and expected to help out around the pack. From a very young age they are trained to be elite fighters. When they do a good enough deed, or participate bravely in a battle, or show unusual dedication to the Way, they are declared adults and made full samurai in a special ceremony.
| [bg=151B54] Ikei | [bg=FAF8CC]The Ikei are retired samurai. They are respected and listened to, and looked after by everybody, even the high ranks. Even the Kisaki listens to them because of their age. Age is respected in the Circle, even though it doesn't automatically equal wisdom. Only retired samurai will gain this rank; the Kisaki, Shogun and Shuhans don't retire unless they are taking so little of their duties that their heir is basically doing them for them and the heir and second together decide they are unfit to lead (and if Shuhan, get the Kisaki's permission to retire them; if Kisaki, pray to the Great Spirit for wisdom in whether to remove her) - and even then they retain their position with the Asu/Kouyuu acting as Regent until they die. They might have to take less active participation in physical stuff and battles as they age, but they can still lead.
| [cs=2][bg=FBB917] In the following tier, the peasant tier, the Circle is also split into three Clans; but here there is much less rivalry, less a sense that the Clans are constantly competing, and more of a willingness to help out and share duties. In general, though, the divides remain. Usually, Diana peasants will serve Diana samurai, Minerva peasants will serve Minerva samurai, and Vesta peasants will serve Vesta samurai; if authority is asserted over peasants not of the asserter's Clan, the political situation can often become... delicate.
| [bg=151B54] Komakai | [bg=ECE5B6]Basically the peasants' organiser for her Clan. Usually a Teishi who was never made samurai, or an unusually smart Hyakushou, is given this rank. She oversees the peasants of her Clan, does her fair share of work herself, and makes sure they're all organised and know what they're doing and everything runs smoothly. The Komakai is also in charge of disciplining males who disobey, usually by killing them.
| [bg=151B54] Hyakushou | [bg=FAF8CC]The Hyakushous' job is to serve and look after the pack. They are the firm foundation of the peasant tier. They hunt, help look after the younger Oshiego, and do what the samurai tell them to do. They also have some rights, because they're female, and a samurai will always hear them out at least. They can order the males to do whatever they like. They patrol the borders and if a newbie/trespasser is seen they alert the Samurai who go to greet them/defend the borders. They can be promoted to Teishi if they show unusual skill or loyalty, meaning they have a chance to be samurai. Typically newcomers to the pack will be Hyakushou, unless a samurai adopts them.
| [bg=151B54] Kodomo | [bg=ECE5B6]The cubs of peasants. They are looked after by other peasants and they learn skills like basic self-defence, species skills (flying for a Keiyou, weather predicting for a Sennyo, controlling their magic for a Lupus, etc etc), hunting, pack laws and traditions, the Via, etc etc. When they're old enough, they're made Hyakushou (there is no need for an act of courage like there is in the samurai class).
| [bg=151B54] Chuuko | [bg=FAF8CC]Those peasants or Teishi no longer able to honour themselves in service to their Clan are given the Chuuko rank and considered retired. They are looked after by other peasants. Even samurai treat them with some level of respect, because of their age. Members of the peasant tier retire at a much older age than samurai; their duties are less strenuous than fighting and they can continue for much longer.
| [cs=2][bg=FBB917] Those ranks who follow are not divided into Clans. They are considered too lowly to have Clan allegiance and the level of pride and honour this represents.
| [bg=151B54] Tatami | [bg=ECE5B6]Any male who joins the pack is automatically given this rank; males who trespass or who the Circle members are capable of forcibly dragging back to the Swamp are also given this rank. Tatami are slaves that have no rights. Their only purpose is to serve and obey the females of the pack, and if necessary to provide the females with heirs. The males may establish a pecking order among themselves if they want, so long as it doesn't interfere with the work getting done. They can take more work upon themselves to take it off the shoulders of younger/older/ill wolves if they wish. As soon as a male cub is weaned he is given this rank, and he never retires. Obviously appropriate tasks will be assigned to them - a female wouldn't order a barely-weaned cub to do a job which requires a lot of strength, she'd order a big strong Yagi to do it instead - and it doesn't matter who performs a task once it's ordered to be done, but if a male fails to obey a female, he's put to death. In the eyes of the females of the Circle, males are nothing. If the male is seen to pose a threat of rebellion - for instance, if he's a big strong Yagi - then they might hobble/blind the male to stop him acting against the females.
| [bg=151B54] Prisoner of War | [bg=FAF8CC]Females who are captured from hostile packs or who disgrace themselves within the pack are given this rank. Often they are ransomed or punished; in the event of them gaining some respect within the pack, they may be allowed to become peasants. They cannot be treated as slaves as the males are, because they are female, and they have the right to have their side of the story considered. Of course, the considering may last about five seconds before the Kisaki orders them executed, but hey, it's better than what the males get. They are kept under guard and disrespected. It is considered very much a rank of shame and anybody who has held it, even for a short time in the past, is barred from ever taking a rank above regular samurai.

Okay, well, for the colors, I have some ideas: Green #33CC00; and Purple #660099. For the table I'm afriad it's really... er... confusing. So staff members, to make it more understandable what we're asking for: can it be so that the table looks like this? And also, I was wondering, perhaps the Diana Shuhan (or Shogun, what have you) and maybe a couple other wolves from the previous pack (including Amaterasu) want to get some wolves in their pack, but some are skeptical. To convince them to join (what an epic thread this would be! HEHEE) Amaterasu uses her light ability to make the cherry tree glow, and perhaps makes 'light' or 'stars' "dance on the wolves' fur"? And I'm for the idea of the rituals, but perhaps the previous leader (if still alive), the two other of that rank in the other clans, and perhaps the Royal family (which, in the table, should be its own little bit before the Shogun and so forth, as that as of now grouped into the Royal family) should attend the 'new-crowning' (?) of the new wolf, blessing them and wishing them much luck and stuff... but you confused me a tad there, Cahaya, with that whole bit, can you re-clarify? So yes, yay, any other bits?

You guys are mixing like a billion different concepts into one pack. You need to narrow your idea. How do you have Greek ideas mixed with Japanese ones? Figure out the main focus of your pack and move from there.
