Talni stalked, head straining forward and back flattened, through the flurries of snow carried with the fierce gale night had summoned. Her scarlet and ivory pelt was flattened against her skin, the tails behind her stiff and strained. Talni gazed up at what she knew was a black sky, though from her view, all she managed to glimpse was white puffs rushing through the air. What a place for a pack to live. But she was certain that this pack was the one for her. From what she'd heard, it was a fierce pack and required members whom were vigorous and strong enough to deal with such conditions. Maybe that was why they had their pack founded here, to throw members into a test. Well, if that was it, Talni was positive she could take it.
With her eyes narrowed determinedly, Talni broke into a slow but powerful lope. The wind nipped at her delicate ears and the cold seemed to freeze the bottom of her paws. The saliva pooling in the corners of her mouth froze until it was ice. But Talni would keep moving, because intertwining with the empty scent of snow and wind, a stark smell was wafting around her nose, leading her forward. It was the unmistakable scent of an alpha. She focused on only this and the steady rush of hot breath in and out of her lungs.
Slowly, a shape emerged in the white out as she trudged through the raging blizzard. Talni lifted her head to the wind, the soft fur along her neck becoming untamed, and let loose a deep howl. To Talni, it seemed as if her cry for recognition was carried away. The shape became more evident, turning emerald green. Talni lowered her head and willed her legs to carry her faster, pushing the aching muscles throughout her body.
"Over here," She yowled, as she couldn't be sure if the alpha knew she was even there. She would catch up to him even if he ran. This was her pack of interest, and Talni would be sure she got to meet the leader of it. As Talni approached, she held in her heavy pants and stood as straight as she could manage. This was her first impression, and she didn't want it to be a weak one. She was determined that if this alpha should turn her away, he would know that he hadn't turned down a weakling or someone useless. Some other packs had thought that of her because of her small size.
Talni stopped abruptly but slid across ice on the ground. A cascade of snow rose like a title wave around her and fell momentarily. With a controlled voice, Talni barked, "I wish to gain acceptance into your pack."
