rylee . mckay "If you'll be my star, I'll be your sky You can hide underneath me when you come out at night When I turn jet black and you show off your light I live to let you shine." It was late afternoon as the Yagi female walked along the earth, looking for somewhere to rest. She yawned widely, head drooped and paws dragging. The result of yet another long day with little sleep. Each of the days seemed to be getting longer and the loneliness was surely creeping up on her. "C'mon now... Yu'll find sumone..." She thought to herself softly, trying to keep up her spirits. Her stomach growled in protest. She sighed softly.
Lifting her head slightly, she smelled the air for any food nearby that she could scavange. The scent she was able to catch was not what she was expecting. In fact, it made her freeze momentarily as her amber eyes shot upwards to study the sky. She knew exactly what that scent was. Thanks to her sensitive nose, and the teachings from her mother, she had a very acute sense of finding out the weather; and from the smell, there was a storm approaching. She was about to begin looking for a place to take cover until she winced at the pain in her stomach.
Glancing at her stomach, then back at the sky, her tail twitched uneasily as she tried to make up her mind. "Mmm... Oh... It's alright... 'S still pretty far off..." She took a deep breath and continued walking forward, having confidence that she'd look for shelter if the storm got closer, or she got closer to it, before she could find a meal.
After a while, the scent of salt and water became very thick and made her nervous. Until she saw the beach. "M'be thas why it's so strong... It might jus' be the water..." She looked up at the sky. It was cloudy, but showing no signs of threat. Nodding slowly she padded onto the soft sand.
Walking along the beach, Rylee studdied around her to try to find something that could have been washed up on the beach. Her stomach grumbled in dismay, begging for food. With no luck, she glanced upwards at the pathway. "Mm... Nothin' down here... It looks nice 'n green up thur, m'be th're's some stuff up thur..." She looked around for the path and began sloping upwards.
It wasn't long before she came to the edge and was looking down at the water and rocks below. "Damn... Was hopin' thur'd be more up here..." She sat down to rest and continued gazing down at the water. She found herself thinking hard, a memory slipped to her eyes of a time when she and Yaz were at a place like this. It was such a beautiful night... It was the night he got gotten her pregnant on that cliff at her old home. Her heart jumped and she felt the pain come over her again. Though, she didn't stop the memory like she usually did. She let it keep coming, becoming consumed in the bittersweet memory.
"Yaz, I love you so much..." Rylee whispered soflty into his ear, nuzzling into his fur. He sighed pleasantly and leaned over to kiss her cheek, a silent sign saying he did too.
The memory dulled her senses and made her oblivious to the low rumbling in the sky. She let her guard down, if only for a moment. That moment proved to be a bad time for her. A strike of lightning came down from the sky, the thunder booming loudly.
The sound made her instantly snap to reality. She yelped and gasped at the surprise, clearly startled. Her heart dropped as her head whipped from side to side. Raiin began to fall from the sky all over her. She was confused and began backing up in fear from the rain on her face. Luckily, she caught herself right before she went off the edge. Instinct and fear taking over, she bolted in the only direction she could; forward.
Amber eyes zipping all around as the rain pelted onto her fur, she found herself yelping and crouching to the ground every time thunder came. Anxiety took over as she cried out for Yaz, begging for him to save her. Only then did she remember he was never coming.
Unable to see through the rain and her eyes watering, she felt herself trip right over a large rock. Coming down with a thud, she yelped at her hurt paw. But that didn't matter. Ignoring the light injury, and jumped back up and continued to run. Having forgotten her hunger and tiredness, there was only one thing on her mind now. Shelter.
Glancing around furiously through the pouring rain, her shaky eyes could barely make out a shallow crevice under some rocks. Ignoring the chance of a fatal mistake she ran for it. She got to it quickly and began stuffing herself in, forcing her body into the small space. She ended up only able to get half her body in. Pulling her rear as tightly to her as she could, she clawed desperately to put herself as far as possible. What a sight she would have been, only her rear visible from the hole.
She suddenly began sobbing and crying, screaming loudly as the thunder crashed above. "Yaz! Y-Yaz help!" She whimpered loudly as her body shook furiously. Feeling her heart break over and over again every time she said his name, in the back of her head faintly recalling what he truely was, her mind switched to something else. She began screaming the name of the one wolf that had ever offered her true comfort in times like this. "S-SIERRA! Sierra! W-WHere are you?!" She cried furiously, still clawing desperately at the hard rock under her. Thunder cackled overhead and the rain poured down on her back side.
She knew how to get through storms on her own, but this was only the second time she had to go through such a storm in such a small space. Her insecurities took full blow, making her cry with hystaria and terror.
"But you can skyrocket away from me Never come back if you find another galaxy Far from here, with more room to fly Just leave me your stardust to remember you by..."

His pelt shone regardless, a diet of healthy fish and exercise along with casual swimming in the sea's waves, the water droplets rolling off the rippling muscles left and right down his broad shoulders. He had just caught a recent meal and decided to take the rest back home to his underground cavern he had recently dug under a large hollowed out log that appeared as just common driftwood to the naked wolf's eye. Crow however had adapted to living by the ocean and had plenty of spare time to dig out from behind and underneath it. He had packed it tight so it would not collapse on him even when the tides and rain threatened wolves like himself on days, not so sunny...
That's when he could've sworn he'd heard someone calling out for help. Though the female voice was not calling him in particular, he decided the other wolves friends might had abandoned her. Man, I know how that feels... he wandered his whole life. He gained friends that came and went, and for all he knew his parents left him to die. The yagi called out to the other wolf from behind them, trying to sound soothing and coax them out of hiding... or at least a rather lame attempt at it. He laughed whole-heartedly as he spoke to her, pulling the fish from his fangs before doing so.
"Excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear ya. You lookin' for a place to stay a tad bit dryer? I have a place not far from here... if you'd like to join me for dinner?" he felt something oddly familiar about her scent. Then it hit him. She was like him! Another Yagi! Another Yagi! He wanted to bound and leap for joy, but something different and new inside him stopped him. He was not some goofy good for nothing wolf anymore. He wanted to prove he could be a responsible and dependable acquaintance of any other he met. "Hey, that's the first in a while I've seen another similiar face. You aren't from around here are ya? But enough chit chat... let's get out of this rain!" he quickly stabbed the fish onto his fangs once more before bounding off towards his secret den... taking double glances to make sure no one else saw him and that the other yagi was following behind him.
Crow soon found the entrance as he popped a piece of bark from the bottom of the log down and in to reveal his burrowed abode. He pawed it from the walkway as he settled himself and shook the remaining water from his fur. Placing the fish in the center of the burrow as he sat and awaited the other guest. "By the way" he added in lastly "Name's Crow, made this place myself! Took awhile but like it nonetheless... whatchu think?" Yup... this wasn't your normal Yagi, non-docked tail and all. [/scrolly] |

rylee . mckay "If you'll be my star, I'll be your sky You can hide underneath me when you come out at night When I turn jet black and you show off your light I live to let you shine." The thunder overhead made her wince with every boom. Ears glued to her head, she whimpered and whined desperately for someone to come save her. She had never known why she was so afraid of storms; all she knew was that they scared her terribly. The memories of Sierra flashed over her eyes over and over, of her pressing her body up against her to keep her warm and offer a comforting scent. Now she wasn't there. Now Rylee was alone, no one there for her. Her bit her lip hard, her heart lurching into her throat at the thought of being so alone.
But she wasn't.
Right when she was losing herself, the voice behind her made her twitch anxiously. It sounded male. "Y-Yaz?!" At first she was shocked, but the she realized it wasn't the voice of her almost lover. Who was that? What if she was on someones territory? They could chase her out. "N-Naw! I-I can't be chased out! Now n-now!" She whined, clearly frightened; but the voice was calm and coaxing, as if trying to convince her to get out. She cried softly into the hard rocks as the rain pelted her backside. She was frozen in place. Though, when he mentioned his den, everything changed.
"Shelter."
She knew she had to get out of this small place and a bigger place for shelter. Taking a deep breath and whimpering, she slowly backed out of the small area. Amber eyes darting around, finding his blurry figure walking away through the rain. She yelped as another boom of thunder sounded and dashed after him.
Being so terrified, the female tripped and stumbled all the way to the den, extremely anxious to get somewhere dry. When her paws finally met the dry ground she jumped as far from the entrance as she could. She stood against the walls, hunched over as she gasped for air and shaking vigorously. Had her tail not been docked, it would've been glued to her stomach. She stood there, cold and shaking, trying to gather her thoughts. Her wet fur sticking to her made no help to the fact that she was already a small Yagi.
It took a few moments before she was able to start recouping herself. Now that she was somewhere secure she could think a little. She drew in a shaky breath and slowly worked the gears in her head. Slowly lifting her head, her tired amber eyes rested on the male. He spoke his name. "C-Crow..." She gave a very shallow nod and winced at her twisting stomach.
"I-I'm Rylee..." She muttered softly, her southern accent faint in the midths of her still trying to calm down. She tried her hardest to think of more to say to him. "Y-Yea'... I-It's vury nice..." Her tired legs finally buckled under her and she fell to the ground. She laid down and tried to even out her breaths, now very exhausted. She was so tired that she didn't care that she was in a random den with a random wolf, nor that she was very rarely appearing this weak. She was just grateful to get out of the rain.
"But you can skyrocket away from me Never come back if you find another galaxy Far from here, with more room to fly Just leave me your stardust to remember you by..."

Even if she wanted to be left alone, he still felt some things were in order...
"Are you okay? Ya seemed a bit down for sucha pretty face." The male yagi tried fruitlessly to cheer her up. He pushed a fish closer to her. He would be leaving for the circus soon, so he would be careful about attaching to any new wolves for now. Thoughts of Tor vaguely traveled to his mind before he forced them away. The sea colored she wolf was not interested in him, why should he bother?
"Rylee? That's a nice name ya got..."
His long tail began to wag slowly, he couldn't help it. The thought of meeting and conversing with another yagi, even if she seemed down, brightened his spirits. Anything to pry his mind from the feirce travels ahead for now. Anything that could link him back to his species in reality.
He began to munch on a fish as the breathing of them both warmed the small cavern underneath the sandy bay. Crow wanted to be that someone that could cheer the dampest of spirits. Hopefully he could mend the broken soul that teetered on the brink of her sorrow. The green emerald beast quickly picked up another fish from his pile as he stared up at her. Lost in her face for the moment, curious as to how she got to the cove. Curious as to how she lived as a yagi.[/scrolly] |

rylee . mckay "If you'll be my star, I'll be your sky You can hide underneath me when you come out at night When I turn jet black and you show off your light I live to let you shine." Her eyes were closed for a few moments while she gained her thoughts back. With every faint crash of thunder outside the cave, she still winced a little. Her body was pressed against the back walls as she lay low to the ground. Her ears swivled towards Crow as he spoke, tail twitching anxiously as her heart ached. She could spend a while explaining the whole thing, though it seemed rather cliche to just opne straight up to a random wolf she just met.
She nodded slowly and looked at the fish he had offered her. "J-Just a bad day I guess..." She murmured quietly as she suddenly snatched the fish and ate it quickly. She didn't really want to explain her weakness for storms, whether or not it was obvious as is. When she finished eating she lay back down and shook her head. She felt much calmer somewhere indoors and finally fully opened her amber optics to gaze at Crow. Though she could not see him other than his outline from the dim light, his presence comforted her a little.
Rylee tried offering a warm smile, but ended up unable to. She was still shaking as she stayed pressed against the wall. She recalled what he had said before about her not being from around here. "Ta answer yah before... I ain't from 'round here... Been wanderin' by mahself fer a while now." She held back the aching in her chest.
A rather loud thunder boomed outside and she winced, lowering her head to the ground and shutting her eyes again. "Damn these storms..." She curled herself into a ball to try and keep herself from shaking, hoping Crow could not see her. Despite her fear a large yawn escaped her maw from her tiredness. Though, she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep again, lest she passed out.
There was silence for a little while as she tried hard to relax her muscles. She couldn't stand to keep hearing the thunder outside. Opening her maw, she worked the gears in her head to try talking. "S-So... Yah live here by yahself?" She muttered, trying to starta conversation.
"But you can skyrocket away from me Never come back if you find another galaxy Far from here, with more room to fly Just leave me your stardust to remember you by..." Horrible post... >_<
