Looking for the Lord of Defense (Raynor)

Starrunner came out of the small den and started to fill it back up. He hummed as he worked, as he usually did in the morning. When he was done he decided to stretch his wings a little, just a small flight over the forest, in preparation for the journey to the lake. He opened his wings and lifted off the ground. It was always a good feeling, he thought, to be free of gravity. He flew above the treetops and just flew around in small circles, thinking, about what had transpired the previous night.
Queen Keinvarii had caught him in the forest and convinced him to join the pack as a Squire. Now that he was a Squire, he had to go look for Raynor, the Lord of Defense. Raynor was a large Cael, he remembered, and he lived near the lake. Now Starrunner thought he had done enough stretching and headed in the direction of the lake.
Starrunner flew over the forest horrifyingly fast, of course that's the way it would seem to anyone on the ground, but he was used to it. Starrunner saw the water's edge just a few hundred meters away. Time to start looking, he thought. He had made good time over the forest because the wind was with him. Just about two hours ago he had left the clearing. He had not found any sort of den site along the way, not surprising because he had looked thouroughly the first time over. Now was not the time to look for dens though. It was the time to find Raynor.

Raynor swam onto shore, and after one last splash of his large gold tail, he jumped up onto shore, the transformation from Cael to wolf effortless and almost magical. He thanked the great spirit again to be able to do such a thing, as whithout the water... Well, he shuddered to think of what he would be. Even if years of hard training had made him agile and strong on land like any other wolf, he was still, and always would be, a Cael at heart. Small droplets of water still beaded on his sleek black pelt as the winter sun's light rays illuminated the golden highlights in his pelt. His muscles rippled as he shook himself out and surveyed the area for any potential threats with his gold eyes: There were none, thankfully. He didn't want to fight anyone at the moment, though even he had to admit, a good fight every once and a while could be fun... Just not if it endangered his pack. He thought of Jazling, whom he had met the day before, with her sparkling emerald eyes and deep blue pelt. He smiled, and sighed a little inside: The Great Spirit truly had blessed them both. However, he knew she was scared, and had a past full of misfortune and sorrow, much like himself. They would take it slow for now. He knew Stone had mentioned that he would have a squire to train, and he looked forward to passing on his expertise and years of knowledge onto another worthy wolf. Apparently, he was a Keiyou, and so perhaps he would have company on his lonely but tranquil island. Him and Jazling... He thought happily. He looked up at the sky, and noticed a winged form flying above: Sinxce there was only one Keiyou in the pack, he assumed it was he. He grined, flashing pearly white teeth, and howled up: "Greetings Starruner!" he called.

Starrunner flew over the shores looking for Raynor. He reflected on his decision of becoming a pack member. One of the best choices I ever made, he thought. Starrunner saw a form swimming up to shore and then changing shape. What luck! That must be Raynor. Starrunner had been expecting to be searching all day, maybe even half a week, but he had actually found him right away. Raynor seemed to be contemplating something, when he looked up and saw Starrunner. He shouted greetings to Starrunner, and he shouted back, "Hello Raynor! How are you doing today!" Starrunner shouted back. Starrunner went into a slow spiral to descend to the ground where Raynor waited. He landed with a soft thud, and almost lost his footing because the shore was slippery. "I was planning on looking for you all day, but I suppose things have changed for the better," Starrunner said. "I met Queen Keinvarii last night, and she told me I was to train under you, Starrunner informed him. He was glad he did not have to look for long because he wanted to start training as soon as possible. As Starrunner recovered from the long flight, he thought to himself that he would probably have time to search for that den now. It could possibly be just a few hundred feet, or miles from here, but the important thing was that he now had time.
