The heat of the day was fading slowly away, sinking with the sun as it drooped lower and lower into the sky. It cast a ghostly orange glow across the sands, making each grain glitter with incredible brightness that was so beautiful. The sand was still warm, but the air's temperature was beginning to cool significantly. She liked the desert in particular, just the way it changed so much. Even if it were hot during the day, burying oneself in the sand was a great way to keep cool. Not to mention the oasis that approached her bright golden vision in the growing darkness.
The plain silver female padded along, her massive figure sinking slightly into the sand as she became closer to the moment of safety and relief in front of her. The massive snake slithered beside her. The green anaconda had taken as much of a liking to the desert as his Daja friend had. The heat and the cooling was good for his skin, and he loved it very much. The heat could become a little much during the day, but it never stopped him to find some shade or bury himself beneath the sand deep enough to get some relief. This time of day, however, was perfect for being out and about. His nearly forty foot long frame followed after his friend as they stepped into the lush vegetation that grew there.
"Ssssuch a lovely placcce to be thisss late at night, wouldn't you agree, Nile dear?"
"Of course, Tezca." Was all she stated as she approached the water, sitting at its edge. She watched her Daemon slither into it, swimming in circles in the bubbling, cold water. His golden eyes peered into her as he rested his head on her foot, the rest of his body hanging in the water. Often times, this was something the two of them needed. As far as Myou were hated, she was sure Daja were hated further. Strange creatures they were, walking around as normal wolves but with outer second souls. However, this was not a bad thing for Nile. Tezcacoatl had trained her to become extremely bulky for a female. She would appear as a male if not for the lashes around her eyes. She was a strong girl, no doubt. That was one of the things that she took pride in her. Her strength and her size.

The sun had finally gone down in the Hotali Desert its hot rays disappearing and offering relief to those who dwelled here. The air was cool even though the sand still remained hot underfoot. Thanatos had been scouting the desert terrain for quite some time now and had recently discovered the desert oasis, at first he thought he had been imagining things but when he got closer he had been surprised to find that it wasn't and after a good few hours search had accidently fell into a hole which had just happened to lead to a winding network of caverns underground with another exit at the other end. He had spent the day there going through every passage and cave that happened to exist under the sand.
Just now he had decided to venture outside again now that the sun had gone down and the sweltering heat was no longer. Marking the tree where tunnels had been he set off towards the lake feeling the need to take a drink and wash off his now sandy coloured white fur. Along the way he had thought about a pack that he was hoping to start a place where Mortui were to be respected above all else and anyone who disrespected them would be punished. A pack different than those that already existed and one that would hopefully dwell here in the harshness of the desert so that only the strong may remain.
But his thoughts now were distracted by two strange scents that oddly mingled together, that of a wolf and that of a snake. He followed the trail sliding quickly and silently through the undergrowth so as not to alert whoever may be trespassing on what was now officially in his mind his land. Stopping beside a palm tree under cover of the ferns to look out at the lake. His ruby gaze widened, shocked at what he saw. A silver coloured wolf lay by the lake all looked normal until he had looked closer and noticed the large form of a snake in the water resting its head on the stranger's paw.
Curiousity nagged at him which eventually forced him out of the cover of the trees. He came to stand beside the stranger, taking in the scent and defining her as female but not recognizing her species scent at all. Making himself heard so that he would not startle her he sat down a little further off. When curiousity invaded his brain his manners seemed to turn on, clearing his throat he started.
"Um excuse me Miss but who are you? And um if you don't mind me asking, What are you?" His eyes kept flicking towards the humongous snake, half expecting it to jump out at him and bite him and the rest just confused as to why it was there, especially resting next to another wolf.

The first thing that reached her senses was the overpowering stench rolling through the underbrush at her. However, she made no move to change her position nor any physical indication that she had managed to smell the scent. It was powerful and there was only one type of wolf that she knew had that sort of smell. Mortui, the Wolf of Death, as she often called them. They were more like the wolves of immortality, as they didn't die until they were completely decomposed. She made no sort of movement to show that she had noticed the male's presence, even before he arrived on the scene. Tezcacoatl, on the other hand, was not so much like her.
"What in the name of the Great Ssssspirit isss that ssssmell?" The snake's massive head jerked to the side slightly as the male entered the clearing where they were. His golden eyes remained trained on the Mortui.
Nile merely shook her head and waited for the male to finish speaking. Her eyes merely turned in his direction, following him as he sat himself down on the edge of the water some ways away from her. Mentally, she sighed, knowing it was her snake that made that happen. He was rather on the massive side and could scare off quite a few people, not to mention her own size added into that. She was rather impressed that he had not run away at first sight of the two of them. Not to mention he seemed to have some decent manners, unlike herself. Manners didn't seem to be something that she was too skilled at showing off. She stared at him a moment more, debating on answering. She wasn't much of a talker herself. Tezcacoatl was, though.
The huge snake lifted his head as Nile got into a sitting position. He coiled himself up around the female's body, getting into his usual position. His body was wrapped around her belly and chest, and his head was resting on top of her muzzle as she faced the Mortui. Tezcacoatl spoke, "I am Tezcacoatl, the Daemon. Thissss issss Nile, my lovely former host."
"We were once one being. A Myou." Nile stated slowly, quietly. "My only near death experience separated our bodies and we became a Daja."
That was the only explanation she would provide. Daja were a rare species, and they were merely the split form of a Myou. She remembered that day that the Calagris attacked her, nearly killed her as a young girl. She almost lost her life that day, broken bones and bleeding all over the rocks. She didn't remember the splitting process. She only remembered waking up. There were no injuries on her body, no blood anywhere, and there was a massive snake wrapped comfortably around her body. Not to mention she looked plain, like a normal wolf. Boring, almost. The Great Spirit had saved her that day by splitting them in two, and she was glad it had been done.
Tezcacoatl broke in once more. "And jusssst who are you?"

Thanatos almost jumped out of his skin when the large python began to curl around the female's body then, his head above hers, began to speak to him. His eyes widened and his jaw gaped, he never knew such a thing was possible, for a snake to talk to a wolf was just absurd but when the python said next startled him for he did not understand what he was getting at after he mentioned the female and his name. Nile and Tezcacoatl, but what did he mean by former host? It was only after Nile spoke and cleared it up for him. He continued to sit there, mouth hanging open like a complete idiot at the fact that he had never known such things could happen to a myou. Maybe she had been unlucky like he had to be born differently than his siblings and his parents. But to him he still found it strange and unnatural for two different beings to be so close together, he thought myou were odd and this just brought that to a whole other level.
Though he tried to place his eyes on the golden eyed Nile he just couldnt tear them away from Tezca he feared the great snake already and had no intentions of being within the snakes striking range, so he stayed where he was, feeling weak and submissive compared to the pair for he knew that he could easily be overpowered by the both of them. The snake then hissed at him, requesting his name. Closing his mouth, realizing that it was still hanging open then raising his head high he responded, "I am Thanatos, a mortui, and I am afraid I have never heard of your species, sorry, but it just seems so unnatural to me especially when your, ummm....Daemon? Is one of the biggest snakes I have ever seen and you are so close with him. But if you could please just keep him away from me I have no interest in coming near it.
Flicking his eyes from Nile to Tezca he began to tap the bones on his paw against a nearby stone, causing it to make a cracking sound along with a screeching one as he dragged it which he quite enjoyed the way it chilled his bones he had begun to tap in a haunting pattern. He soon realized this and stopped, looking up again at Nile and smiled but not a smile that held any meaning whatsoever just there to fill in the silence hanging after he had stopped.
