Her wings moved desperately in an attempt to keep warm. The cold made them feel brittle as though they would shatter into hundreds of pieces should she knock them against anything. Of course, this was only because they were thin and rather frail. If she'd had a mighty bird's wings, like Keiyou, then she probably wouldn't be feeling that way. The Sennyo wasn't quite adapted to cold weather, leaving her to truly wonder what had made her walk up this way, to the mountains that were so cold. However, she'd heard that there was a spring up here. She had already passed a cold one, so she assumed that wasn't the one she had heard so much about. No one would bother talking about something so amazingly cold in an already freezing place.
She placed one delicate and cold paw in front of the other, propelling herself forward no matter what. She needed to find some sort of warm solace in these snow covered lands, before she literally froze her beautiful Tiger Swallowtail butterfly wings off. Her long, wispy tail flowed behind her and her black antennae followed suit. Those things seemed to have minds of their own, not doing what she told them to no matter how hard she tried. It was one of the annoying things about being a Sennyo, but she did have one amazing thing to live with: her beauty. It was rather undeniable that most Sennyo were a delicate beauty in the world, as rare as they were, and that they were certainly a different species from most. A lot weaker, yes, but with a greater knowledge on certain things.
Scarlett Harper's very dark blue eyes spotted something out of the ordinary in the small dip in front of her. Steam. It was rather unusual for a place such as this, but steam usually meant heat, and heat meant warmth for the short haired female. She pushed herself into a faster trot and approached the steam closely, yet with caution in her expression. Her antennae curled when she indeed found what she had caught so many rumors of before: a hot spring. The steam was already melting her frozen wings and it didn't take her long to step into the water with her long, graceful legs. The warmth of the liquid soothed her immediately and she submerged herself up to the base of her wings, turning herself just enough to rest her head on the stone surface that was in front of her.
That part of it was cold, much in contrast to the water she now practically laid within. Her eyelids began drooping down, blocking her vision every now and then, until they fell to a close. This sort of thing tended to happen. The black and yellow Sennyo was as lazy as lazy got. She preferred to take a nap rather than hunt for herself, for she did not want to do the work while she was tired. She had always thought that she would not do well in a pack, for she was positive that there would be no place for anyone as lazy as she was. Perhaps it would just be better for her to remain away from packs in general. "They all cause trouble, they do!" She exclaimed to herself, despite how she really did not want to be so lonely anymore.

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/2m7vghw.jpg,true] [scrolly:h(380),w(290),sy]It had been days, days that she had spent in her den, alone, sleeping. Her muscles were screaming in sheer exhaustion, and she had carried many a kill back to her den to sustain her for her absence from anyone else. She refused to seek out any healer out of sheer stubbornness and so instead she lay in her den, surrounded by food, and each day she stretched her muscles out and let them relax. She still organized hunters to be coming and going to keep the pack fed until a time came when they would all be leaving this cold land. There had not been any gracious thank you’s or welcoming back for the golden female, but she had not really expected or wanted them anyway. She also knew that as soon as she got better and made herself eat as much as she could she would continue to head to the mountains once more. Something about the cliffs, and the spring told her she should be there, go there, perhaps she should not have left. She shook her head in dilemma as she stretched her legs out one by one.
In her recovery she had also gone to the geysers when no one else was there to try to let the steam work it’s way into her sore muscles. Between rest, the gentle walking, and the steam within a week or so she felt much better. Her pelt glistened again thanks to the small amount of fats she had eaten and she even felt better. She stood outside her den, stretching her back, and eating her breakfast at the same time, today was the day, the day she would return to the mountains. She perked her ears and listened to see if anyone was around before she took off, leaving only the fur and bones from her meal. Feeling renewed she made her way out of the Empire’s icy territory. She stopped and rested whenever she felt like it, and she hunted whenever she felt like it. Having no traveling companion this time, she could alternate between a flat out run, a trot, a slow walk, and other gaits she knew would keep her body limber. It would take her another few days to exit the territory, and end up face to faced with the impressive mountains in front of her.
She breathed in deeply, taking in all the scents of things around her, looking out for predators, since she was only one wolf, and regardless of how powerful she was, she would be no match for some of the things that called the mountains home. With a snort of defiance she began to climb up the side of the mountain, sometimes being graced with a path, and sometimes having to jump from cliff to cliff as though a fox that were pouncing and tearing it’s prey. She came to a source of cool water and stopped to drink, her pelt making her an obvious target among the browns and grays of the mountain foliage, and so even as she leaned down to drink she kept her eyes open and alert. Turning she felt her stomach cramp, and growl, and knew it was time to eat. She slunk around the stone boulders around the mountain side and managed to flush out a rather plump rabbit. Snarling in delight she reached out a paw and smacked the frightened creature into the stone beside them. The impact shattered the poor things skull, and Chry picked it up and began to trot happily along the path higher up the mountain. As soon as she found somewhere suitable she would sit and eat.
It was right about then that she noticed the trail of another wolf, beyond the smell of fresh rabbit climbing up her nose. She heard someone speak and quickly dove behind a rather large boulder with her lunch. Leaning over slightly, so only half her face was showing, her amber eyes shining brightly with the reflected light of day she saw possibly the most beautiful wolf she had ever seen. Now of course she could only see the wolf’s face, wings and antennae but Chry was suddenly taken back by this bathing beauty, and from what she could see, it was a Sennyo. She suddenly felt like a peeping spy, watching the wolf in the water, her mouth clenched tightly on the rabbit as she hid behind a rock. She had not had the pleasure of meeting one of the delicate winged wolves, but she supposed now was as good a time as ever. But for some reason she wouldn’t move from behind the rock, but nor did she hide herself from the winged wolf either. In this position it would be hard to tell that either of them were female, but Chry’s golden head remained popped up from behind the rock as she watched quietly…[/scrolly] |

The brightly colored Sennyo was at ease in the warm pool, feeling all of her troubles wash away and evaporate into steam. The steam lifted and swirled away, dissipating into the air above the mountains, never to be seen again. When it pertained to her troubles, that sort of thing would come back eventually, but she wasn't really one to be too concerned about all of those things. At the moment, she was much too lazy to even stand to change position to get a better aim at the hot water she was sitting. It was much work for her and she just didn't feel like doing it. She would have to be one of the laziest wolves one had ever met, for there were even old grandparents who did more than she did. It was rather pathetic in many ways, but she had just become like that over her years of living for so very long. Laziness was just her way of dealing with the world, of pushing it away from herself to keep her heart guarded.
It had worked so far.
Scarlett's ears twitched when she heard a sound. Not moments ago had she spoken to herself, rather loudly as well, and she wouldn't be surprised if she had startled a rabbit or something. Opening her dark blue eyes, what the female saw was nothing even anywhere close to the form of a rabbit. Golden fur and amber eyes certainly did not suit them, and she was now certain that there was something else behind that rock other than a bite to eat. She took the liberty to lift her head and stare closer at the thing hiding behind the massive stone, a lazy smile slinging crookedly across her maw. A peeping Tom? No, the scent was nowhere near masculine enough for it to be male, so there was a good chance the wolf was a female. A shy one, perhaps? Judging just by what she could see, she could already tell that she was outmatched in more than one way. It was obvious that the wolf would be bigger than her, as all were.
"Hiding from me, Goldilocks? Come now, I'm harmless." There was truth in her words there. In all honesty, there was really nothing that she could do to keep herself from being killed. However, she'd never really gotten herself into a situation like that before and she knew what lands to stay away from. The Salnero Jungle was one of them, teeming with those nasty, evil wolves of the Hellion Mafia. She was ready to admit to herself that those wolves were probably born from the underworld itself. As she stared at this wolf in front of her, she already could tell that she had to be a part of one of the neighboring packs. The Enclave or the Empire. Scarlett had been around quite awhile, so her knowledge of the packs wasn't surprising. She laid her head back down and still offered her a smile, though lazy, it was calm and inviting. It would be left up to the stranger to make her choice here, as to what she wished to do. "A luxurious golden pelt... A Lupus, perhaps?"

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/2m7vghw.jpg,true] [scrolly:h(380),w(290),sy]She didn’t quite know what to do, the wolf in front of her was beautiful, gorgeous, and rather delicate. Chry felt like a large bumbling idiot in comparison, and now of course she felt like an idiot for sitting there watching like a mute moron. While she was mentally berating herself the other wolf had recognized she was there. When she actually concentrated on the wolf in front of her, she could see a smile appear and she knew that in that instant she had to be female. She knew Sennyo were all a beautiful breed of wolf, but there was something about this one that told her she was female, and of course she knew she was beautiful. Chry could feel some of the heat from the spring where she was standing, but she more or less could taste her heart beat in the back of her mouth. She was tempted to loll her tongue from her mouth if she wouldn’t look completely stupid.
Goldilocks…She snorted slightly behind her rock, as though it would be a barrier from the female’s (for sure she knew it was a female now by the voice) flirtation and beauty. No one had ever called to attention her pelt color before, or called her a name other than her own, so she was slightly taken back by the wolf’s forwardness. What if she were a psychopath, or a murderer? Would she be so inclined to tell her to come closer considering how frail she was? What if all this beauty came at a cost and this other female was indeed crazy herself? She didn’t scent any pack scents around the spring, or the area around, so she didn’t think she was running from anyone, or spying for anyone….but Chry suddenly realized she was stalling from coming out from the rocks. With a great sigh she stepped down, but caught a loose rock and suddenly her head dipped quickly below as she fell off her perch.
Grunts and noises escaped as the rabbit was dropped and she tried to right herself. She took the opportunity to smell the ground around for a second before taking a deep breath. Picking up the rabbit she took a few cautious steps toward the spring and toward the female. At least the rabbit in her mouth gave her the excuse to be quiet. She evened her breathing slightly, and put on the blank face that she was so accustomed to wearing before and during her time with the Empire. It was an impassable face, and it could either piss one off, or make them uncomfortable. She had never seen anyone too thrilled when she donned “the face”. When the female pegged her for a lupus she slowly set the rabbit down and lifted her head very slowly, her eyes keeping pace with the female’s eyes. She took in a breath, slow and deep.
“Correct. I can obviously see you are Sennyo, it is unusual to find Sennyo this far north, especially in the winter..” Yes, that’s right, small talk, the one thing Chry couldn’t be worse at. She could interrogate the female, demand she leave the mountains and go on a hunt for all the rogues, claiming the territory for the Empire before they arrived. But she had no desire to actually do that. She sat back on her haunches, one paw very close to her lunch as she stared at the fluttering wings on the female’s back. Everything about her was interesting to Chry, and so very different from herself or anything she had been exposed to lately. There were many Yagi in the Empire, and many powerful wolves, but nothing so delicate, or feminine, and Chry was suddenly very aware of the fact that she had no been exposed to quite as much as she had thought. Wandering the arctic and ending up in the tundra was not all it was cracked up to be.
Looking at the female in front of her, it looked like a nice life, luxuriating in a hot bath, enjoying the steam, she seemingly had no ties, and began to look around to see if she could scent or see any other signs of other wolves that might be with her. As she looked around she noticed she might be better able to communicate if she didn’t have to look right at her. “My name is Chrysanthra, not goldilocks….what about you?” She couldn’t imagine what she was named, or called, or went by, but she would be lying if she didn’t say she was eager to learn it, and where the female came from, and where she intended to go. She supposed this is what wolves meant when they said, “instant infatuation” with something or someone. She had never experienced it before, and it was new, and definitely strange. [/scrolly] |

This wolf was an odd one, hiding behind her rock the way she was. She had met wolves who were stunned to approach her before, whether it was just her being there or her species in general. Sennyo were hard to come by, especially this far north of the lands. However, she supposed she could think of a good reason that the female was a little shocked to see her there. After all, she had started talking to herself at random again. She did that sort of thing often, talk to herself to make simple conversation or to solve her own problems. The only thing she had yet to do was get into an argument with herself and lose, then there would be something of her mental status to be worried about. Until then, the only thing she was concerned with was laying down and doing nothing. There was no other thing that would take precedence with her so much other than her laziness. It literally defined her, and made her what she was.
Her navy blue eyes watched with amusement as she fell from where she was standing as the attempted to make it down to the spring. The rabbit in her mouth was dropped, but she seemed to quickly recover. The Sennyo rose an eyebrow. From what she could see, this pretty thing didn't make mistakes often and she did wonder what had caused the little flub. She smiled gently at the Lupus, allowing her to know that she wasn't going to judge or harm her. Deep down, past the utter laziness that covered her up, Scarlett was a loving wolf and helped people with their problems most times. She loved to listen to others, give them something to vent to while she didn't speak back to them until they were finished. If they didn't want her opinion, then she wouldn't say anything about it. She was relaxed constantly, determined on taking the weight from everyone's shoulders whenever she was around them. A gaping yawn left her mouth, "Watch your step, dear."
The Sennyo smiled once more at her first words to the female. "Indeed, I am a Sennyo!" Teasingly, she sounded as though she was praising a puppy when she had said it. It was all in good nature, though, just to put the atmosphere in a good mood. She didn't do too well in uncomfortable situations. Well, more or less, she didn't like them at all, so she tended to avoid them or try to make them better. She didn't like the heavy feeling that always settled on her chest whenever there was something wrong with the auras surrounding her. "I couldn't tell you what I'm doing so far up north. Perhaps I got into an argument with my mind and I lost." She shrugged nonchalantly, the only movement she had made in about a minute or two. "Sometimes my wandering feet take me places I don't plan on going. I've been all over, though. I know all the territories inside and out. I've been around longer than some of the packs in these parts."
Perhaps she was no good at small talk, obviously stretching out her answers to provide a broad expanse of information that she had not truly intended on giving to anyone. Oh, well. No harm done, for now at least. She barely knew this female, but she was not afraid of her. She had seen many wolves like her before and they all had their weak points, not that someone as dainty as her could do anything about it. All she could do was try to flutter away before she was killed by a strong blast of their element. Yes, Lupus could be very dangerous creatures, but so could any other wolf in these lands. All one needed was the ability to defend themselves and something could go terribly wrong in a tiny little fight. If one was assaulted, they just needed a way to buy themselves some time so someone else could get there to help them. Sometimes they would need to be speedy to escape danger in time. The bright yellow and black Sennyo, however, had none of this.
Scarlett's ears twitched once more, listening to her present her name. Chrysanthra? Well, that wasn't one that she had heard before. Of course, it wasn't really a simple or boring name, like Sky. She was well aware that there had to be more than one, for she had seen one Lupus and one Keiyou named these things. Granted, they were in completely different lands from one another, so there was really no connection. Sky was just a more common name than the one this female in front of her had. She blinked a few times, then grinned widely. "You've a lovely name, but I like Goldilocks, too! It certainly fits." She was only kidding, of course, but in those moments she was rather hellbent on giving this female that very pet name. It fit her and she liked it, so she'd use it. "My name is Scarlett Harper. Call me Scarlett, Harper, Scar, Harp, or even Scarp. I've many a name, but only because my real one is so long."

The way she was acting was totally humiliating, it reminded her of how young female pups acted when they had their first crush on a male…In that instant revelation Chry could have swallowed her tongue, did she have an instantaneous crush on this female? For a long moment she thought back to Lacey for a moment, and realized that in that situation too, she had found her pretty and interesting, and wanted to get to know her, much like how she felt about this female. Oh there were definitely differences, and Chry was staring at the differences right now as she looked at the female, at least the portions of the female that were not submerged in water. She blinked her eyes a few times to bring herself back to reality, and take herself out of her own head, and her now frankly disturbing thought processes.
The pretty female’s smile made her feel slightly better and slightly worse about slipping off her hidden perch. Things happened she supposed, but graceful and silent Chry did not usual make blunders of such a caliber. So to save herself further humiliation she lay down at the base of the spring, able to look up at the female, but stop herself from dreaded motion and it’s pitfalls. The winged female’s smile was pretty, but she could not have expected much less all things considered. She began to tear into the rabbit with delight, although kept her noises of pleasure to herself. She was hungry and although she had traveled alone and had plenty of time to stop for food, Chry was a being of necessity. Her body required food, and so even if she was in the company of a beautiful female, her body’s needs would simply not be ignored. She considered saving the pelt of the animal but decided since it would be unlikely she would be going back into Empire territory for a while, if ever with their established move, she might as well not bother.
She had heard the comment to watch her step, and even heard the word dear, it would have halted her in her steps had she not been so determined not to make a fool out of herself further. But for now she lay at the base of the spring, delighting in the plump fat reserves of the animal she had chased down. Occasionally she would look up at Scarlett with eyes of the purest amber, the light bouncing off of them to create an interesting glare and speckle effect. She chose to petulantly ignore the praising comment about her species, but smiled up at the female. Who knew how old she was, indeed Chry could have been a puppy for all she was concerned. She listened to her speak about being around longer than some packs and simply nodded, stripping a piece of meat from the animal. “Well being as it may, you may want to wander a bit farther south, the Empire is looking for a new homeland, and this would be the chosen destination.” She made no comment about the likelihood of the Sennyo joining the pack.
All things considered, she could not see the alphas seeing the benefit of having her around no matter how beautiful she was, and it was simply too cold this far north to house a female of her stature. She would be miserable in the long cold months, which lasted even longer the further north you went. When she was complimented on her name she snorted slightly, “A name that was given to the wrong wolf I am afraid. I have not the beauty nor the demeanor as my name might suggest.” She was not purposely fishing for compliments, Chry simply did not think of herself as a beautiful wolf, strong, graceful, silent, powerful but never beautiful. In her mind it was not possible to be defined as beautiful and strong, or powerful. She thought for a moment to her own alpha and while she was powerful, and confident and in control, Chry would not consider her to be a beautiful specimen of femininity.
She supposed that’s how the world worked though, you couldn’t have it all, there had to be flaws along with all the beauty in the world. “If you like goldilocks, then I suppose that’s what you can feel free to call me…” Chry wondered what it was about this female that was letting her get away with murder, was it her good looks, or was it her charm? She could have very well nicknamed her butterfly, or something equally…sufficient but for right this second she listened very carefully as the female introduced herself. Scarlett….what a name, and not a speck of red on her pelt what so ever. Chry snickered to herself for a long moment while looking up at her. Scarp…Chry smiled, her tongue falling out of her mouth and to the side after she licked the sides of her mouth happily. “I like the name Scarp…in fact I think that is the one that sticks with me, it isn’t nearly as feminine or as pretty as you are, but it’s the one that sounds the most fun…” She thought for a long moment, “So Scarp, where do you intend to travel next?” Perhaps Chry was moving right along with a hidden agenda, but who could blame her?[/scrolly] |

She didn't realize the affects that she had on some people. Whether it was simply because she was a dainty, beautiful Sennyo or not, she never could exactly place it. Of course, she wasn't completely aware of the female in front of her acting the way she was just because she was sitting there and watching her intently. Nervousness? Perhaps, perhaps not. It all depended on the wolf, and she did not know this one well enough to be able to tell so easily. However, she could come to the conclusion that she was very pretty. She had taken a particular liking to beautiful things, and her pelt was fitting the bill. Yellows and golds were among her favorite colors, blue and black following right after. She couldn't help but be mesmerized by the Lupus.
A new homeland? This was the choice? "That's interesting to hear, Goldilocks. I know quite a bit about the Empire. A hardy, military pack. You seem as though you're a good fit for such a pack. I'm sure they appreciate you!" She pulled herself out of the water only far enough to allow her front half to rest on the cold stone. The contradicting temperatures felt sort of nice on her body, resting at the right amount of hot and cold for herself. Though, she knew she'd need to leave this area sooner or later, for the cold would get to her eventually. She had been up here many times before and she had not liked it so much, but only because of the frigid air. She was not suited for lands like this, and she was well aware of it. The Eastern Lands suited her better.
"Given to the wrong wolf? NONSENSE!" She snapped vigorously, thinking quickly of something that would make the eating female feel better of her name. She pulled herself farther from the water, coming to only let her tail rest within it. She moved her muzzle closer to the wolf and smiled gently at her. "Dearest, your name sounds like chrysanthemum. It's a very beautiful flower and very rare, even where such things should be abundant. In my opinion, they are the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen. Nothing has yet to compare to their boisterous beauty." She was complimenting her for more reasons than one, though the subtle ones were beginning to make her heart race the more she stared at the wolf.
Scarp? She hadn't been called that in a very long time and at this point, she didn't really mind at all. She could only grin widely as the female asked her where she would be off to next. She thought about it for a moment, thinking hard. She had already been everywhere, had seen everything, and learned it all from the inside out. Sighing, she tilted her head slightly. "I'm not too sure, to be honest. Perhaps Yvit Cove! It's a very beautiful beach that's warm all year round! It's simply lovely. Have you ever been there, Goldilocks? If not, I suggest you do before your life comes to an end. It's a very amazing place. Definitely worth seeing, if you can learn to truly appreciate it." Scarlett knew she loved the cove, warm and beautiful. The sunsets were certainly something to behold.

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/2m7vghw.jpg,true] [scrolly:h(380),w(290),sy]Chry realized in that moment that there were many different kinds of beauty. There was an innocent, quiet type of beauty like that of Lacey, and there was a playful, flirtatious beauty like Ms. Scarp had, she even supposed Cypress in her own way was beautiful, although she did not know the standards of beauty for Yagi. She could only assume the female’s lean figure and interesting coloring, as well as strong set of horns would make her beautiful to a male yagi, she was obviously beautiful to Arkham, or they wouldn’t be mates with litters of puppies. Chry had not thought of mates and puppies as it pertained to her in a rather long time so the idea of beauty was rather far fetched, the only thing that had brought it up to her had been the appearance of this beautiful, intriguing and flirtatious female in front of her. It would be about now that she had finished off her rabbit and stood up, shaking out her pelt and looking up at the female. She had had enough of being timid and intimidated by her beauty. With a huff of cold air she began to climb up the rocks to the warming liquid.
It would only take her a moment, for she didn’t stop long enough to stumble , or to lose her footing on the loose rocks. She took one last step above a rock and slowly stepped into the spring with her. The water quickly enveloped her poor muscles and she let out a sigh of relief. While she knew that Scarp was lying in the cold air now with only her tail touching the water, Chrysanthra was completely content to submerge herself above even her shoulder blades, almost gurgling in pleasure as the water seemed to seep into her very bones. When she spoke of the Empire, Chrysanthra’s face went rather blank, she disagreed with the statement entirely. While the Empire was a hardy, militant pack, full of wolves who had to be strong or die, she was not so sure it was a pack that appreciated her. There were more Yagi than anything else, and Chrysanthra had hardly made any friends there despite how she and the other hunters worked their claws to the bone. Instead of saying that she simply replied with, “There is hardly anything to appreciate when all you can concentrate on is staying alive through winter.”
It was a true enough statement without saying something that would make her out to be like she was fishing for pity or other feelings from the beautiful female. When she snapped and said the word nonsense, Chry’s ears perked up and pointed forward as she looked at the female intensely, waiting for her to explain her outburst. As she moved closer, Chry could swear she could hear her heart beating into the back of her throat. Even with the amount of water around them nothing would mask the other female’s scent from and Chry found herself drowning in the sweetness of it, her eyes half lidded. It was only when the female spoke again that her eyes widened completely and she nodded, listening. Boisterous beauty…..she simply smiled and decided to take the compliment for the wonderful thing it was after all, if this Sennyo was as old as other Sennyo, surely she had been around and seen things of beauty, surely she could compliment them truthfully? “Thank you Scarp, I find that a compliment from you is truly something that is humbling, and will be accepted gratefully. I will keep that in mind the next time I dare to think of myself as otherwise.”
She offered a more comfortable smile to the female and tried to keep herself easy and relaxed, though having her so close was making her nervous, but at least in the water she couldn’t see her toes twitch or fidget amongst themselves. She almost laughed outright at the fact that she was attracted to the female in front of her, and intended to get to know her as best as she could. She had not wanted to push her away from the mountains but she knew of the Empire’s lands, and she just could not stand against those types of wolves. But where would she go if she left, and would Chry ever see her again…? Worry began to creep it’s way into the edges of her eyes. When she began to talk of her plans of travel south, and named the Cove Chry simply nodded, she had heard of the beaches there, and the warmth weather, although her own travels took her mainly through the North and the Eastern lands, the south and west were unknowns to her, and something she intended to pursue…some day…
“I have heard of it’s beauty, but I have never traveled much concerning the south and west, I have mainly stayed to the east and of course the north. I could see how it would suit you though, the warm weather, and the sun rising and setting on an ocean of blue. It would be a sight to behold, much like you are…” The compliment slipped out before she could help herself and she quickly turned her attention to the group of angry birds that were gathering not too far away, their loud caws and other noises beginning to assault her ears and her mind with their incessant noise. She turned back to Scarp and smiled softly, “I think it is something I definitely will have to see, and I think now with the coming of winter it would be a perfect time to travel south and see the beaches. If you wouldn’t mind a passenger, or traveling companion….I would not mind having the benefit of your knowledge…and I can provide….well I am the Captain of the hunters in the Empire, and I can surely defend you…” Although she spoke nothing of her element of birth she knew that very little could stand in her way once her element rose to the surface, surely it would be enough to protect herself and the female Sennyo in front of her…[/scrolly] |

She smiled her usual smiled, feeling such joy with being near this female. It was strange, the things some people said or did that made her enjoy their presence. While that did not happen so often, she did find herself putting up with them, more for their sake than for her own. She loved being around others and had met and known many in her long lifetime. She was sure she'd get to know more and see more within her lifetime that was to come. She could live for hundreds of years more, but it would be a lonely life, for there were few species who lived as she did.
"Well, if there is so little to appreciate, then I would not really call it a pack. Packmates are supposed to love and appreciate one another no matter what, and they are supposed to be there for one another at all times, despite what they are like on the inside and the outside. I'm an old wolf, yes, but I know what makes a pack a real pack." The Sennyo had seen her fair share of packs in her lifetime, and the only ones that ever survived were like the ones she just described. If there was nothing between the wolves that allowed them to survive as one, then it would fall.
Scarlett only nodded to the statement of taking her words into mind that she should think differently next time she went to put herself down. Good, one mission accomplished. She also couldn't help but notice that she found herself comparing the female's fur to the golden chrysanthemums she had seen few times, how beautiful those flowers had been. Her eyes became half-lidded as she stared deeper into the golden hairs, almost transfixed by them to a point where she did not want to look away. A feeling bubbled in her stomach, and almost immediately she pushed it away.
The Sennyo noticed the gathering of birds not too far from them, cawing angrily at the pair. She bared her teeth, slipping a bark out at them. However, she turned and grinned at the female. "Goldilocks, it is certainly a great sight to behold and you need to see it. Of course, I would not mind having a traveling companion. Your company is wanted." She paused a moment, wondering why the female wanted to come with her to the cove. Was it a way to get out of her pack? A way to get some sort of...reprieve from the world? She did not know, but would not bother her.

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/2m7vghw.jpg,true] [scrolly:h(380),w(290),sy]Chry was full of curious thoughts, why she had seemed to care deeply for Lacey and now was more than a little intrigued with this female, but she had not had these feelings for a male. Well at least not since she had been with her birth pack and allowed herself to believe that she would end up with a male just as others around her did. Now that she was grown, and on her own, having traveled and spent time alone she had no desire to settle down with a male. Nor had she any desire to have pups, or do anything tradition she was slowly finding out. Her claws idly scratched the stone beneath her as she thought quite deeply at the thoughts that were now occupying her mind as she slunk a little lower in the water, but not so low she couldn’t see Scarp, or smell her delightful smell. No, she perchance would not lose those things, as they were becoming more than pleasant to her brain, crazy as it might seem.
The other female’s smile truly did light up her face, all the way up her light body, and into her blue eyes that Chry found to be very unusual and beautiful, none the less. But what did she expect, for the female to be beautiful all around and have ordinary or ugly eyes? Chry wondered about the Sennyos, many of them lived long, and hearty lives, if they could manage to stay alive with such delicate forms, how did you live with yourself, knowing that you’d probably outgrow every one and every thing around you besides your family? Chry say herself as a bump in a time line that was Scarp’s life, before she knew it, she would be dead and gone, and Scarp would still live on for decades, centuries perhaps. It might have been a dark thought had Chry not been ready to die at any time willingly. She had no fight left for death, although she wouldn’t take her own life she was surely not going to fight against that which came for all wolves naturally.
She perked her ears forward when Scarp began to describe what a real pack was, and she blew breath out of her nose slightly. “Very few packs are like what you describe Scarp….Unfortunately very few, usually unless they are based on family or life-long friends, most packs aren’t even lasting. They began with loners banning together for safety, warmth and survival and it never goes beyond that. Then when things are good, they never bother to bond like you say, they either continue on for survival, or they eventually split ways…” She felt rather guilty saying all this because this was exactly what she thought of the Empire, and unfortunately what she had planned to do, split, the thought had been in the back of her mind ever since she had returned to the tundra after her excursion to the mountains, and here she was offering to follow beauty down south to see the ocean…
She watched where Scarp’s eyes fell and realized she was looking at her! With a sort of glazed, half-lidded look. She didn’t want to move too quickly, but she did make a circle in the water, trying to stare at herself to see what Scarp found so interesting…”Why do you stare like that?” Never one for such novelties like tact Chry truly wanted to know as she paddled a little closer to the female, to return the favor of staring at her. The bark startled her for a moment, along with the showing of teeth until she saw it was a display for the nasty, cawing birds that seemed to be entirely jealous they were swimming in what they deemed, their territory. Chry simply sneered at them from the water and splashed her tail deviously, spilling water off the side, which fell in a small cascading wave toward the birds, which sent them into a riling mass, it did nothing for her headache, but their wariness did delight her psyche.
To hear that it would be a sight to behold indeed, and that she wanted her company almost made Chry want to jump out of the water and screech, “Let’s go, let’s go now!” But for right now her aching muscles refused such action and even the thought of a long journey made her muscles groan in protest. But she had never been one to not do something simply because she got sore. No, but she rested her head on a rock near Scarp and looked at her, her eyes softening into almost a liquid amber. “How is it that you trust me enough to travel with me Scarp? I could be a maniac, or a killer? How do you know you aren’t walking beside your doom?” Her eyes didn’t harden when she said these things, but she genuinely wanted to know if the Sennyo in front of her always chose companions this way, or trusted so many different people? If so Chry knew she would have her work cut out for her, and if not she could truly feel special, it would be work regardless. Deep down she couldn’t tell Scarp that technically…she would become…a deserter. The word stung her mind, but Chry knew she couldn’t go back…not now…and not ever. [/scrolly] |

She sighed. Things were not as they once were. She had preferred the days when the packs were all loving and caring with one another, when they didn't fight and when they worked so efficiently together. She knew that there were a few packs who were built purely as a military pack, and she knew of only one that was successfully managing to survive, even though their leader had pups and their numbers were very, very small. The Children and the Enclave functioned like families, as a pack should, and they were doing just fine on their own. To be honest, she was impressed with them. The Mafia as well. Despite their...ways, they still seemed to be a family, accepting and loving each other no matter what was wrong with them.
Packs were another reason she had remained a loner most of her life. There were not many Sennyo in these lands, or anywhere for that matter, so she had a good reason to avoid attaching herself to other wolves whom would not live nearly as long as she would. Packs were just something that she would not attach herself to, because she would live much longer than any of the wolves in those packs. It was one thing when there were more than one Sennyo traveling or living together, because they'd keep one another company for a very long time, and it was something completely different for a Sennyo to make themselves company with a short living species. It was hard to live with yourself if you outlived every living thing around you.
Scarlett did not answer when she asked why she stared. Not only did she not know the answer, she was still rather astonished that packs did not work as they once did. It made her wish that the world was the way it used to be. However, she knew that time changed everything. Land changed, habitats changed, and that, in turn, so did the things within it. She supposed that also included the packs, but she was a firm believer in tradition, so she did not necessarily understand why things were different. It angered her almost, but there was some comfort in knowing that there was at least one or two packs out there with some sense of tradition. Packs had come and gone in her many, many years. At least there was one or two with what she deemed as sense.
The Sennyo giggled and smiled at the Lupus, pondering her question for but a second. She knew why she trusted people so easily, and it was not something most understood. Regardless, she would tell her. "That's just it: I don't know if you're a killer or if I'll be walking aside my doom. I trust people because I don't judge them. I don't find it right to judge someone when I truly don't know them. I trust people...because I want to know them." It was not the clearest answer nor was it the greatest, but it was something at least she understood. She had to wonder, though, if the female in front of her would grasp what she was saying. Scarlett was old and she had seen many things, not to mention the ways of wolves. There was very little she did not know of.

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/2m7vghw.jpg,true] [scrolly:h(380),w(290),sy]She hated to see Scarp look so very down by the information she had given her, she had not meant to sadden or depress the female, but again as she had thought most Sennyos got used to the idea of losing things because many things did not live the same amount as they did. Life was a constant cycle of change but the breed of Sennyo seemed to stand still in the whirlwind that was time and watch as everything around them practically disintegrated and faded away. Her bright amber eyes searched Scarp’s face as though she could possibly tell what the other female was thinking in any capacity. Chrysanthra suddenly wished in that moment that she was a wolf with a different power, something that would be more useful than her lightning. She could only destroy with her power, kill, maim, electrocute, there was no goodness in her power, no ability to heal, or to know others more intrinsically. The thought began to irritate her, for these were things she could not very well change, these were things she was born with and would be for the rest of her life, however long.
Chry smiled as she looked at Scarp, “I think this is the most fun I have had in water with someone in a long time..” It was a small statement, said with a low voice, as though someone were spying on them, but it would seem even with their lack of verbal communication there was much to be said for body language. Then at the same time there was also a significant amount of thinking going on between the two. It would seem this run in would provide more of an advantage then a traveling partner, it would provide Chrysanthra with someone who might be able to understand her thoughts about many things, including herself. She noted it would be wonderful to have someone who could converse, and even share her wisdom, or her craziness, it was not like Scarp would be alone in a moment, if not more than a moment of insanity. The golden colored female was still in the water but she could feel her paws begin to twitch under the water, her heart began beating faster and she took in a deep breath trying to calm herself before she electrocuted both of them.
Pushing herself up the stones around her, to stand on a dry larger stone, and shook herself off intensely. The warmth of the water had been comforting, but she had no intentions of letting her muscles get too comfortable, lest they not work when she needed them too. Rivulets of water still ran down her strengthened legs, and the puffed her chest out as she shook herself out some more. Between her meal, and the relaxing rest in the water she felt herself rejuvenated, and her power was coming to the surface as she began to feel excited over the journey and the female in front of her. She looked down on her for a long moment, without saying anything, just listening, almost wishing hearts were louder, it would be interesting to compare the beats of her heart to that of the beauty in front of her, to see if either one was affected by the other more than a little. Chry’s eyes began to wonder down over her, and out of the water to the birds gathering around in certain areas, although now they paid more attention to what they could eat than to the two wolves in front of them.
She was aware Scarp was lost in her thoughts, and she found that she was in no hurry to break the other wolf’s concentration, it was truly a great to be able to think and one was owed the privacy of their thoughts. You could always ask but the other did not have to gift with their thoughts, and although she wished to know much more about Scarp, she knew it would come in time. If she continued to travel with her beyond the beach she knew through experience and conversation that she would learn how she thought, even her likes and dislikes, and more of her past as long as Scarp was willing to give all those things to her. Chry wondered if the Sennyo in the water below was curious about her in any of the ways she was about her, although she thought the curiosity would be one sided after all, you’ve seen one lupus, you’ve seen them all..The sound of her giggling snapped Chry’s attention back to the hear and now and as she watched the wonderful sound fall from the other’s muzzle she in response turned her head slightly to the side, her eyes taking on a rather interested look, and her head a very bird like response as she waited for Scarp to respond to whatever she indeed found so amusing. The words fell through her mouth, hit the air and were brought to Chrysanthra’s ears, she could honestly not believe what she had heard.
Scarp may have lived for many years, and may have encountered many things but she had a hard time believing that she had not made judgments. Wanting to know someone could very much get you killed, but she supposed it was a very wise and old-minded thing to say, but she was not so much sure the application wouldn’t end in a very bad way. It only furthered the gold lupus’ wish to protect the female sitting in the water below her, she could not very well let such beauty, and grace die out from this world, she knew there were few enough Sennyo as it were. “I suppose what you are saying is nice, but not entirely practical…” What she left out was, for one of your species, but she decided it would be better to not seem insulting, even if the comment was not insulting at all. “When do you fancy you will leave for the ocean Scarp? Are you hungry now, would you like me to get something for you?” She felt the intrinsic need to take care of her, at least she knew that by being with Scarp she could hunt, or protect her and know she was doing some good, even if she had selfish reasons for doing it….it would be something very unlike the pack structure she had came from but in a way she knew she needed different. The delicate yellow Sennyo pulled herself from the water, standing lightly upon the stones. She shook her thin pelt lightly, freeing it of what water droplets were there, and she felt her skin grow cold very quickly. Goldilocks had had her fun in the water, as had the older female, but the effects of getting out of it certainly were not worth it. Any longer and her wings would become brittle and frozen, which would therefore risk them snapping off. That was not something she could afford. Even though they were useless for flying, her bright colors gave her an advantage in distracting those who tried to hunt her.
All she could do was nod to the female's sentence and watch as she emerged from the heated bath as well. Scarlett was distracted with the way the light hit the droplets on her golden fur. It was stunning, much like the chrysanthemums she had seen in her long lifetime. They reminded her of them greatly, causing a small smile to line her features, remembering the faint words of the Lupus not believing she was beautiful. To the Sennyo, though, everything was beautiful, because she treasured all of it, even the things considered bad. She had lived long, and there was much to appreciate. Life was one of them, and the little things were another.
"Practical is the last thing it needs to be, my dear Goldilocks." Stiffly, she moved to where she could see the area she had come up from, leaping upon a rock to do so. She couldn't allow her joints to stiffen too much or making way out of here would prove to be far too difficult. A frown creased her expression, making her seem as old as she really was. "It's difficult to live for so long, to watch those you love perish while you live on. I've seen many types of people and I know a deranged wolf when I see one. I've learned not to judge those who don't live long, because there is so little time to live in general. There is no time to judge, only time to make stupid mistakes and learn from them. I know I've plenty of those to make still!"
Her laugh chimed from her throat, but it contorted and twisted into a cough that was unpleasant. Great, now she was beginning to get sick. That was the last thing she wanted, especially with the trip to the Cove. Perhaps the warmer weather would make it better. "To be honest, I would like to leave now and hunt later. I'm not that hungry, so I think I'll survive until we make it our of the territory. Besides, there are more delicious things to catch outside this barren wasteland, something more plump and juicy." She bounded from her rock and trotted delightedly back the path she came.
Scarlett glanced back once. "You coming, Goldilocks?"

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=height,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q21/winkatuck/2m7vghw.jpg,true] [scrolly:h(380),w(290),sy]Chry stood there for a long moment, the winds buffeting her body as she stood on her rocky perch. In some places she was assured the mountains offered several comforts, including the hot spring, and the cold spring each to their own season respectively. The mountains would also buffer some of the snow and rain in off and warmer seasons as well as protected areas within the mountain itself for dens and shelter. But for Chry, she felt as thought too long had she settled into a den and dropped her head, too long had to spent trucking through the ice and snow to drag back kills for a pack that went above and beyond to see aloof and doomed. The female the color of a golden sky wanted out, she wanted to run through an area where snow did not crunch underneath her pads with menacing promise of freezing to death.
In that moment, between feeling as though her pelt would freeze and break off from being subjected to the water, and feeling as though she were truly more free in that moment then any other Chry felt a small smile play over her muzzle. Scarp would indeed be the perfect companion, her non-judgmental ways and thoughts would keep Chry a little more than comfortable for as long as they traveled together. However, she looked down and saw that like a wild thing, her companion was bitterly cold, and she watched as the winds blew down on her, pushing and pulling at her delicate wings, and small body frame. She watched as stubbornly the frail female pushed herself on to a higher perch and Chrysanthra, without thinking jumped down and pushed her body against her. This way Scarp had the added benefit of her body heat and she was taking the brunt of the winds as they stood on the rocky perch beneath them.
“Scarp I believe you traveling to the north was a big mistake considering I can see how the winds would so easily rip your beautiful wings from your back…” She could have said many other things along the lines of ‘let me protect you, or keep you warm, or find a temporary den to let us dry off in…’ but she only let these words fall as her muzzle came in close contact with the small wings on her back. She had never seen such wings except on small bugs that she remembered as a pup that would flutter around her. She had learned an early lessons about how frail those things were too, they didn’t live very long, all things considered and she had the same worry for the wolf she had just met. Scarp was beautiful, and loving and gentle, but one sweep of a malicious wolf, or bite of a strong jaw and the life would fall away from her, making Chry inwardly grimace at the thought.
“I suppose it’s true, we all do make mistakes, some are simply more costly than others…that I would know..” She turned her face in against her chest and stood there quietly for a long moment before idly sniffing at the other female as she was close enough that she could do so. The cough took her by surprise, but she did not move back any or away from her, if anything she was more concern, and it showed on her very rough but pretty features…”Scarp…I’m..” Her eyes watched as the female hit the ground and began walking down a path supposedly off the mountain…she was going to have to watch her intensely, and although she wanted to suggest they find some cover, at least until she knew the other would not catch her death be traveling.
“Scarp, if you are coughing, and with all the winds around here, are you sure you wouldn’t like it more if we could find a den to shelter until we dry? Or until I know if you are sick? I know it isn’t ideal but I don’t know how ideal it will be traveling for you when you are wet and the winds are tearing at you…” Chry suddenly wished she was bigger, a Yagi perhaps…that would make her a better wind buffer for the beauty in front of her…she leaped down from the rocks in two short jumps, to hit the ground and walk up to her, muscles shaking and twitching slightly from shock underneath her still soggy pelt. She was not entirely worried for herself, although she was sure by the end of it she would be sick too, but for now her concerned amber eyes looked into Scarp’s blue ones with determination set in them, determined to hold on to this new treasure for as long as she could.
