OOC Information
OOC Name: Kannie (formerly Kiet, if anyone remembers me)
Link to Previous Character: n/a
General
Name: Chiyo
Alias: Chips
Species: Yagi
Gender: Female
Age: 3
Pack: Loner
Rank: n/a
Physical
Height: 43 in.
Weight: 192 lb.
Appearance: Chiyo's black nose stands out in stark contrast against her cream-colored upper jaw. The oversized fangs that protrude from beneath her black lips have dirtied to about the same pale shade as her muzzle. When nervous, Chiyo tends to lick these teeth repeatedly. She also has a habit of sticking her pale pink tongue out and letting it flop onto her dark chocolate brown chin when she's frustrated. The yagi also tries to convey emotion through her bright amber eyes, though the result is usually a poor match to what she wants to project. However, her relaxed expression is gentle and especially warm when combined with the soft reddish sand color of the rest of her face. It hurts Chiyo when the kindness is not reflected on another wolf's face. She is likely to enter a conversation in a poor mood if they show fear of the horns that grow mostly straight from her skull and start to curve backward halfway up. Though they rise well over double the height of her chocolate-rimmed ears, Chiyo can hardly understand why they should intimidate others.
Her lanky, pale sandy red frame does not suggest extraordinary strength, nor does she possess any. In normal walking, she has a smooth, rolling stride. Her trotting steps are usually short and keep her deep brown lower legs close to the ground, though over short distances she enjoys extending her gait and feeling the wind rush past her. In a flat-out run, she probably would rarely win a race, but she could very well come in second or third. Knowing this, Chiyo tries not to sprint when she could be compared to another wolf, and instead jogs or walks with a rather arrogant confidence. When she's bored, Chiyo lifts her cream-colored knees, fetlocks, and hocks higher than usual. Every now and then she can also be spotted succumbing to the pup-like antics of chasing her short, brown tail until she's dizzy enough to fall backwards, exposing her creamy belly.
Other: Okay, I couldn't think of any other terms for those creamy leg parts, so I apologize if they are incorrect on a wolf.

Personality: Chiyo is a proud wolf. She likes being the best and proving she's the best. One of her key motivations is challenge. Because of this, she is often attracted to situations that do not benefit her in any way other than providing mental stimulation. Trying to understand and solve another wolf's problem is much more fun to her than working out her own. Figuring out how to flip a sticky rock without getting her feet covered in goop will entertain her for hours before she remembers that there are other rocks with grubs just as squishable. However, those rocks prove no challenge, and aren't fun at all. In many ways this is similar to her approach to other wolves. The ones that confuse her draw her attention, while the ones she assumes she understands get passed over. The workings of any wolf's mind are intriguing on some level, though, just as no stones have exactly the same things hiding underneath.
Chiyo values what she is strong in herself. She appreciates those who can find their way around a territory quickly. Her respect is given to one that is loyal to their friends and pack. When she is lied to, Chiyo is often full of disbelief and hurt. Since she wants to believe everyone, and she always tries to at least tell partial truths (she's a terrible liar anyway), it is difficult for her the comprehend that one might be dishonest with her. Chiyo's lack of proper tact, combined with her chatty nature, can make her incredibly blunt. If she is uncomfortable with telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, Chiyo will resort to elaborate metaphors to try and explain her thoughts. She also uses metaphors and theoretical situations to indirectly ask for advice. Her general rule is to never speak her innermost thoughts, mostly because she cannot word her hidden feelings well and previously has had them received badly.
The wolf is sweet at heart. Deep down all she wants is to be friends with everyone, though she is more inclined to forming stronger relationships with other yagi. However, sometimes her mouth says things she doesn't mean. Insulting her acquaintances when she only meant to joke is a common mistake for her, especially with her poor grasp on tone. Her statements are frequently questions, and her sarcasm comes out flat. Still, there is a bit of charm in Chiyo. She doesn't recognize it well, and, after living with her brother for so long, is often surprised when she gets things she asks for easily. Chiyo is a cogent debater, and is often disappointed when she does not have to work for something. Most of the thrill of gaining anything is the challenge of getting it.
A keen sense of justice also fuels her confusion regarding quick finds. In some ways she feels she does not deserve those things. Chiyo loathes the phrase, "life isn't fair." She feels life should be fair, and that others deserve a fair life as well. If she is not in a spectacular, flying-on-clouds mood when her justice scales are tipped, a vicious temper, likely accompanied by a tantrum, is almost sure to follow.
Decisions, decisions. Chiyo hates to make them, and prefers to defer to another's opinion if possible. This method only works well if she agrees with the other's view, though, as deep down she knows she probably can make the right choice. Her confidence still falters occasionally, slowing her in reaching a conclusion. A flood of options can also overwhelm the poor wolf, forcing her to sit and quite often talk to herself about it.
History: Chiyo was born in the heat of the fringes of the desert. She was the only pup born that year, the same as her brother, Seirian, was the only one born the preceding year. The little pup was a rather normal thing. Her development was without complications, though as soon as she was out of the den her parents were bickering.
In some ways, Chiyo's high-strung attitude added to the uneasy environment. Violent tantrums struck up arguments between her parents. Often she would seek shelter with Seirian, who took care of her like any caring, condescending brother would. Lovingly, he would call her "Little Chips" and rest his chin on her stubby horns. He made jokes to diffuse tension, and bullied her into doing the things she needed to in order to learn the ways of the world. Of course, her parents taught her necessities, too. When she was old enough they brought her to watch hunts. They showed her some things to eat and some things not to eat. Her highly prejudiced father made her wary of other species, and her brother forcibly reminded her to be proud of what she is.
One hot day, not much different from the other days by the desert, fighting broke out again. Chiyo, nearing the end of her first year of life, followed her brother when he slipped away from the pair. Upon catching up with Seirian, he told her that he was leaving the desert to be free of their contentious parents. Devoted to her brother, Chiyo went with him. Determined to be far from their desolate homeland, Serian led her eastward. Chiyo was more comfortable in the temperate climate, and she no longer wedged herself next to Serian for warmth at night. Along their journey, her brother continued training her in the ways of being a wolf. He was often the one to pull her away from useless challenges and to crack a joke to keep her from exploding in another wanderer's face.
After two years of journeying together, Chiyo's temper finally boiled over onto her brother, who she would never dream of hurting. Their fight followed a long streak of bad luck. Recently, they had been cheated by a loner they met, and their diet in the past weeks had been too skimpy for the two large wolves. A disagreement over a small jackalope lead to larger and larger insults until, fed up with each other, they left in separate directions.
Chiyo sometimes feels regret for the things she said, and on cold days misses the warmth of her brother's fur, but consoles herself by saying that it was for the best that they find their own places in the world.
