”Ouch!”
|
the mass of pale blue yelped. He pulled back his paw, and expression of hurt on his face quickly turned curious as he examined it and then the angular rock protruding from the surface. He noted the odd coloring and the strong smell of salt as he leaned in closer to give the stone a better inspection. Losing interest, he carried on, the slight pain in his right paw becoming less and less noticeable as he wobbled away. The scent of the ocean lingered in the air, much stronger than what the whisp had ever been use to. The sand clinged to his fur at his legs and paws, the cool ocean breeze was all around him. By blood, he was never fond of the water. The odd liquid had such a strange effect on him when he was in his smoke form and just the dangers that lurked in the blue waters beneath the surface reminded him to stay away. It wasn’t like he was actually afraid to go near water, he’s done it multiple times, this being his second trip to the Cove, but the air of mystery and mounds of abnormalities that surrounded it always made him curious yet intimidated at the same time. He wasn’t sure why he decided to visit Talyn Island in all reality, maybe just to prove to himself that he could. Clovis was never one to go around proving to others that he wasn’t a coward, because what was the use? He had coward written all over him, and he had accepted that. Perhaps he was feeling a bit adventurous, and urge to burst out of his comfort zone? Yes. He’d go with that excuse. Clovis put on a triumphant smile as he made his way through the island, edging closer and closer to the shore. After padding about and letting his paws dip and sink into the sand as he went, he could hear the sounds of the waves perfectly clear at this point. As the beach and shore finally came into view, he couldn’t help but notice how calm everything seemed. Safe for the fact that he was torn between mildly terrified and excited, he reveled in the beauty of the day and scene before him. The waves lapped at the sand as they made their way to the whisp and then pulling back into the ocean, as if to call him in. Now growing ever more cautious, Clovis took small and careful steps as he got closer. With paws now damp and covered in the moist sand, Clovis gave a skeptical look toward the salted water. Before he knew it, a larger than expected wave came rushing toward him, not only causing him to yelp as he jumped back in surprise, but now soaking his legs and lower half of his body. Shaking off the excess liquid and trying to spit out what had managed to make its way into his mouth, the whisp felt that he could not be defeated so easily. Now coming closer to the water once more, he walked out into the ocean, stopping when the water had covered half of his legs. Perhaps it wasn’t so bad, coming to the beach and attempting to ‘swim’. At least he could now put himself on a nonexistent list of whisps to ever conquer the untamed shores of the Island. word count ;; 576 tags ;; Alyss ! ooc notes ;; so sorry for delay ! musical inspiration ;; youth - daughter ![/div]

Leo padded down the sandy stretch, heading towards the small island that tended to be uninhabited. He was glad that the pathway wasn’t flooded. He didn’t want to get wet. He disliked the water. Probably had something to do with him being a fire lupus, because he could swim (if you travelled as much as his old pack did, you would need to know how to swim. Water was everywhere) so he had no reason to avoid water. He just didn’t like the feel of it on his fur. Making his silky smooth coat, feel all slimy and odd. He knew that if the path was flooded when he went to make his way back, then he would have to wait until it cleared, although it was unlikely to flood in spring, when the current was so calm. But, the sea was a devious trickster, and completely unpredictable. Still, if he had to wait, it would be no problem. He had nowhere to be, and there would be prey to hunt. He might even have a chance at catching some flying fish, although, again, that would involve getting wet. He was pleased when his paws touched down on the island. He left the sandbar, glad that he had managed to remain dry. The island was small, and relatively isolated. The cliffs that surrounded it, hid it from most, and the only access was through the sandbar. He had been to this island many times. On his own mostly. He enjoyed the peace it brought him, and the chance to think. Not to mention the protection it offered. If the sandbar flooded, you may not be able to leave the island, but nothing can get to you either. It was a great place to sleep for that very reason. However, today, he was not here to sleep. He was simply here because he knew that once he joined a pack, it would be a while before he could come here again. Sentimental perhaps, but this was one of the few places he truly enjoyed. He sniffed the air, surprised to smell another wolf. He glanced around. The island wasn’t big, and he would probably see the other wolf. Leo spotted the wolf near the water. He snorted in amusement as the wolf yelped, having been hit with a large wave. He raised an eyebrow when the wolf walked further into the ocean, until its lower body was covered in water. He shook his head, smiling slightly as he did so. If you want to learn how to swim, do it somewhere that doesn’t have such large waves. He padded closer. If the wolf didn’t already know how to swim, he should probably have someone who can swim with him. “A bit wet, are we?” He called out, his tone edged with sarcasm.

"Speaking" Sagittar flew on the strong wind currents from the sea, the salty breeze blowing through his downy feathers and elevating his spirits as he soared sky high. Below him azure waters crested and fell in an eternal pattern upon the sands, white foam dotting the shallow waters as the sound rocked him into a peaceful set of mind. His long doubled tipped tail feathers were lightly ruffled from his travels and his large wings were beginning to grow tired from the extensive flight. Eying the waters he noted a few fish swimming about in the shallows and his stomach rumbled in hunger, he had not had succulent fish for quite some time, and apart from bugs and snakes he did not enjoy much other source of meat. Dipping the edges of his wings he plummeted in an almost vertigo dive, not noticing the wolves on the shore, as he grew to a break neck speed, his wings pulled taunt against his sides as his long toed and talon gifted paws stretched out. In no time he dove into the waters and latched on to a slippery catch, his claws keeping it barely from reaching freedom and then with the force of his arch he pushed off from the sand and rose back into the air.
With a great show of wingspan and force he snapped opened his black tipped wings and rose a bit higher into the sky, gliding more than flying to the safety of the sand. Three paws touched down in almost dance-like movement, his fish safely clutched in his other front paw and a triumphant smikr rode his maw. From within the mask of vibrant orange red markings gleamed vivid blood reds eyes as he turned his head to see whom he had almost run over. Of course he would never have hit them; it was a mere lack of awareness that had caused him to pass so close in the first place. In any case the wolves were an odd pair, one appeared to be a lupus and the other...well Sagittar wasn’t entirely sure but no doubt he would eventually find out. The long feathers adorning his neck stood high as the wind came to lift them and he walked closer, his movement full of fluid grace.
Inclining his head in a suave fashion he said in a chipper enough fashion, “Good day chaps, you’ll have to pardon my poorly judged dive, though I do assure you that you were never in any real danger.” His voice came out in a rich and deep flow, mildly rough around the edges but almost musical in quality. Perhaps it was the fact that the secretary bird myou had a natural rhythm to his movement that gave such an impression, but one could not really pin point the source of the illusion. His eyes came to rest on the wolves in turn, though rather open they certainly revealed a shrewd and cunning mind that could judge and calculate with terrifying cold assurance. However Sagittar really wasn’t such a disheartening individual by nature, if anything he was quite spirited, animated and possessed an intriguingly self assured disposition that took much to rattle.

OOC: Awww thanks Sani The young Cael swam and swam, hoping to make it back to her own family. She just had to find that current and somehow brave it, then maybe she could get back home. Alyss just hoped that maybe some sort of island was nearby so she could rest, since she found these odd lands, nothing seemed to be the same. The sky was the same, the water was the same, but it just didn't feel right. At least there were living things in this area, she had to be grateful for that at the least. Alyss gasped, she saw something, it was an island! She swam like there was no tomorrow until she made it to shore. She flopped to the wet sand and laughed to herself in joy, remembering she needed to get her land legs back. After a while Alyss was finally able to walk without too much trouble, and decided to see if there were more wolves on this island. It seemed okay, maybe there was a den nearby? She looked around and found a few wolves, one of which...seemed to have wings? A winged Cael? Alyss was puzzled, especially since the only species she knew of was her own, a winged variation was beyond crazy. She lightly padded over to the winged wolf and pawed one the feathers on his head. "Whoa....well you're quite the Cael to have such an odd mutation...wings, well that's something! Can you fly with them? Can I watch???" The Cael was simply giddy with excitement at such a find, almost jumping with joy. "Ooooh, who's that?!" She smiled and ran as fast as she could, tripping on her paws here and there, and went to a greenish wolf who seemed to be having trouble with the waves. "Aww hey there! Is the ocean giving you some trouble? Would you like me to help?" She gasped for a second, "oh I'm sorry, my name's Alyss, but you can call me whatever you want, like Lyss, Aly, anything!" She attempted a back flip in joy and fell on her back. "I should really stop trying these things!" She giggled to herself. "So, what's your name?"

The stretchy eremus had found that the fire lupus from the other night intrigued her and she decided she would track him and see what other places he lead her. She panted with excitement when the ocean came into view... she had always wanted to swim in it. There were rumors about how different it was to wade in the waters other than those of rivers and streams. Nepara trailed farther behind so not to be caught. She noticed him dive right into the murky depths...
Wasn't he a fire lupus though? Wouldn't water go against his element? He seemed unphased as he continued to paddle towards an island off in the distance. Land ho! The eremus jumped into the water and kicked wildly as the waves sent her crashing left and right. She felt her paws flatten and extend into the shape of a slender board or wood. The next huge wave carrying her but this time she balanced her paws and rode it. She cried out in ecstasy as she soon found herself slowly falling back into the sea.
"Agh! she gulped in sea water as her body throbbed to resurface. Thankfully, the waters calmed and she was able to make her way towards the little island where many other wolves seemed to be gathering. All of then separate scents. A huge group of loners?! This is great! I can tell them about my pack idea and maybe they will consider joining me! Nepara panted as she slowly made her way out of the soggy sand and shook her whole body, ears and tail elongating and whipping around until she paused. Then she trotted up to them merely, noticing Leo once more. "Fancy meeting you here again!" she giggled as she gazed towards the waters again.
"Didja guys see me shred the ocean! Sick, right?!" she giggled again as she looked back at all of them. "I'm Nepara by the way, this is quite strange for a group of us loners to just flock together like this.. wouldn't you guys agree?" Her tail wagging playfully near the waves that lapped at the sands behind her.

Clovis whipped his head around, tensing and going into a minor panic when he heard another voice call out to him. Sea green eyes widened in fear as he looked to the stranger that spoke up. The whisp’s jaw went slack, his mouth open as if he was to say something in reply, but words failed to come out of his mouth. Today was for new experiences, taking a risk and chance, but in no way was he expecting any encounters from other wolves. Pulling his wings tight against his body, Clovis kept his eyes trained on the other, looking him over and taking in every detail. He appeared to be of lupus descent, and male... That was all it took to make the fear within him churn and grow larger. The whisp didn’t want trouble, didn’t want to fight, hell, he didn’t want to even be here anymore, but unable to do anything, Clovis just stood there, still as a statue.
Before he knew it, the large gust of air that was familiar to the whisp as the sound of wings at work had spooked him even more and caused a loud yelp to erupt out from his mouth. Oh dear god why... Clovis thought, eyes now trained on the new visitor. The odd looking wolf gave off the feel of myou, but of what animal, the young whisp had no idea. Nearly missing the taloned paws that the myou had, his fear grew even more. Oh god, he’s going to eat me. He’s going to eat me and kill me! How childish Clovis sounded yes, but he was so prone to jumping to such conclusions. Yes, he had his height on his side, but his frail figure didn’t give him anything to scare others away with. All he could do was turn to smoke and run away, whereas one could wield the powers of an element and the other had talons and powerful wings on his side. To say that Clovis was terrified was an understatement. Good day chaps, you’ll have to pardon my poorly judged dive, though I do assure you that you were never in any real danger. This time, the male did manage to muster enough courage to speak a few words. ”G-Good day... W-” The whisp snapped his mouth shut before he could say any more, fearing that anything he said would anger the other and lead to an imminent death.
To make things even better, poor Clovis nearly fainted when he heard another voice approach the already too-large-for-liking party of three. This was too overwhelming for him. Rarely did he ever talk to someone one-on-one without running away in fear. The fact that he was still standing in the ocean’s waters without passing out or flickering off into smoke was a complete miracle. When he got a look at who this other stranger was, he immediately noted that she was cael, a species that always sparked his curiosity and churned endless questions in his mind. But now was not the time to play scientist and pick at the brains of the female. What made him panic even more was when she spoke her name. Alyss. Just like his own mother, the very being who raised him and took care of him. The one who was always there for him and kept him safe... ”A-Alyss?” Clovis said, his eyes narrowing slightly and brows furrowing. At this point, he didn’t know how to react anymore.
And how perfect. Another voice, another scent, another wolf. This time, Clovis managed to gain at least some composure and watched as this newcomer addressed the lupus. Hearing her words, the whisp managed to stir up a bit more courage to speak up. ”Oi! I-I’m not a l-loner! I belong to t-the Children!” He said, his voice quiet and meek, and something that lacked the strength that many other wolves’ projected when they spoke, but the annoyance in his tone was still there, even if it seemed like a poor attempt.
