But this didn't bother Ácélan, the wolf with a rather thick coat covered with tiny icicles. In fact the coldness of this day was nothing as he was born and lived in the far north throughout most of his life. Wherever there were ice and snow it reminded him of home and he wasn't sure if he missed it at all. Obviously he missed his parents but did he miss his pack? He did not think so, after all there was a battle-hungry alpha ruling it, the alpha who would be happy to use a young wolf as a tool of winning his war. He flattened his ears as his thought drifted to the face of Pála. Thinking about her soft features hurt him and he hated her for it. So to avoid further pain, he shoved her beautiful face out of his mind. Now it was not the time to dwell on her, in fact there would never be a right time. You only live once so make the most of it.
Future. He should think about his future, as it was better than being lost in his troublesome past. The future was becoming clearer now that he was in a pack and had a mate. Ácélan was a king now and he would be expected to have puppies, raise them and keep them in line until he stopped being the leader of the pack. Horrible, it was horrible to have your whole future planned out. He liked the spontaneous quality of life he had but now it seemed as if he had lost this precious quality. This saddened him, but he still did not regret his decision. It would be good for him to settle down soon since he wouldn't be young forever. This was a right place to have a... family life, he thought, a beautiful and safe place, a beautiful mate, and a loyal pack.
The dark wolf chuckled, thinking of the pack meeting a few days earlier. It went rather well, he guessed, and everyone seemed pleased with Keinvarii's choice. Of course, who wouldn't like him? He stretched his limbs and thought how handsome he must be looking right now. The orange light was highlighting his dark fur greenish, showing the lines of the rippling muscles underneath. He wished he could see and admire himself. Well, at least other wolves could see him. The ice lupus shook himself and sat down, staring at nothing as various thoughts entered and left his mind.

The blazing colors cause the lake to become ablaze with liquid fire, and she looked back but for a moment to observe the phenomenon. Fire and water, coming together to form one breathtaking sight and only on her lake, the Centena Accord`s protégé. The Queen flicked her tail and bounded off, weaving between large protruding roots, vines and thick humid vegetation, the rich smell filtering into her conscience as the sound of the evening cause her ears to swivel in attention. Crows cawed from high in the tree`s branches that towered well above the wolf and small rodents scurried through the thick covering of leaves, needles and ferns that comprised the temperate rainforest`s floor. A particularly large sound alerted the Queen to the presence of a fat jackalop, the animal well fed by the rich flora that prospered in the territory.
Freezing as so not to alert the beast she pointed her ears forward, sharp blue eyes trained on her prey as her hindquarters tightened, ready to spring. Flaring her black nose she could smell the fear waves coming from the animal when it noted the predator`s presence and in a flash the pair were off, darting rapidly through the brush, darting under and over roots and with a final leap Keinvarii closed the distance with a triumph growl and landed on the jackalop`s back, fangs latching on to its neck and breaking it without spilling too much blood. She would want the precious life force, for it was what sustained her and the meat was always more tasty when juicier. She picked up her prize after a quick word of thanks to the Earth for providing her the meal and set off towards her den.
The den was situated in a dip in the earth that was sheltered by large trees and ferns, and she had actually literally stumbled upon it by chance. Nestled within the ancient thick roots was the beginnings of a dugout and the Queen had proceed to further hollow it out, amazed at how large the den had become with such great support beams to keep the rich soil in place. Lined with a dired pine needle bedding, insulated with soft pelts and decorated with color rich gems that reflected the light and turned it into many prisms in the morning hours the den was certainly fit for royalty. And just outside this beautiful resting are was where she found her striking mate; Acélan.
Pausing at the crest of the incline she let her eyes trail on the icicles that seemed to almost grow from his fur and that glittered in the sun`s fading light. His icy eyes were like clear gems and his dark pelt rippled with muscles, there was no doubt he was an amazing sight to behold. And this prince of the ice had agreed to be her King...It still seemed surreal, but she was happy he had agreed to her plight. Her tail waged in greeting and she descended into the dip in the earth, coming to place her catch in between them. “Good evening Acélan, would you care to join me for some supper, tis a rather plump one.” She smiled her encouragement, letting pack issues settle in the back of her mind as her focus shifted to the King. If they were to be companions then perhaps it would be best to become acquainted. The physical attraction was there, at least on her part, but she needed a bit more, though it would not matter because before long the pack would need heirs.
“I have enlisted a Squire to train under our Lord of Defense, he is a keiyou and when his training is complete will become a Knight. Starrunner is a Keiyou, he will be good to have watching over the territory from the skies. I was required to expel a trespasser, we need to mark the borders again and tighten patrols I do believe.” Ordinarily Keinvarii would have kept these matters to herself, but as King Acélan needed to know what was transpiring in their misdt and if such business matters were cleared now then the rest of the evening could be enjoyed.

Ácélan didn't know how long it had been until he heard that familiar voice that so often sent a thrill into his body, and he turned around to see his mate. She was as alluring as ever with her beauty, and those intense rich eyes met his own icy blues. He didn't think she had shown any strong emotions in those wide eyes, except for when she was pleading him to accept her request. Twitching his ears he decided that he would have her to break through this reserved shell of hers soon. He longed to see any emotion sparkling so ardently in her rich eyes as Ácélan guessed she was a naturally passionate wolf. After all, she would sacrifice her own happiness for the good of the pack; she was willing to pick a stranger as her mate (not saying that he wasn't good). The ice lupus suspected that it would take a while to penetrate through that shell but he was willing to do it. He was rather interested with seeing who Keinvarii really was behind this majestic mask.
"Hello, Queen." His eyes glinted in the fading light. His eyes dropped from Keinvarii's face to the limp animal and chuckled. It was really rather plump, a surprising sight in the winter, especially this late. "Sure." Being a charming wolf he was, he waited for her to take the first bite. This would be a nice time to start a lovely, simple conversation with just two wolves with a sunset forest scene as their backdrop. But unfortunately it wasn't going to happen as the female was starting to speak about a new Squire which she decided would be trained by Raynor. This was what he meant earlier; she needed to learn how to separate her two, both personal and business, lives. Well if she wasn't going to learn... Nah, she would want to; he would make her want to.
Ácélan slowly shook his head, with a knowing smile stretching his lips. "No, no." He stopped shaking his head to look at Keinvarii, trying to be solemn but the gleam in his eyes betrayed his great amusement. "That's great but, sorry, this isn't the time to discuss that." He took a step backwards to look at his mate properly. Would he be able to make her understand and encourage her to relax? He remembered that he promised himself after they agreed to be mates. "Forget about it and just relax. Clear your mind." He moved forwards slightly to touch her fur and felt her warmth radiating from her. Ácélan shut her eyes for a moment, absorbing into this single moment. He knew they weren't mates out of love, but out for the good for their pack The ice lupus didn't know if they would ever truly care about each other any time in the future. Right now, he was using her for his happiness and this royal rank in the pack and, at the same time, she was using him to make the pack appear less weak and to produce heirs. Sure, there was an attraction between these two wolves, more than likely it was an infatuation, but it was nothing deep and meaningful.
Ácélan broke out of his thoughts and suddenly spoke: "Do you feel relaxed yet?" A grin formed on his muzzle as he nudged Keinvarii playfully. "Do you feel better yet?" If she didn't, she would be subjected to Ácélan's mischievous plan that was forming in his mind now. If this plan could not thaw her out then nothing will.

She had simply been trying to keep the King informed and now this...The Queen eyed the King suspiciously, what was he up to? The gleam that glittered in his eyes was enough to arouse a cautious nature, and his approaching body would have ordinarily cause a retreat, however she remained still, transfixed and entirely out of her element. This wolf was a stranger in many ways, she knew little about him but since having accepted him as King she had not been given any reason to doubt his integrity.
The arrangement seemed to suit the pair, her reign was undisturbed and she went about her business as usual, knowing that a solid male was nearby as backup. She supposed this might be the type of thing that transpired between mates, but they were only mates on business terms. Still, there was no denying the quickening in her heart`s pace as the smooth talking lupus approached.
Keinvarii opened her mouth to protest the foolishness, “I...” But nothing more came out as his fur brushed up against her own, surprisingly warm despite its icy exterior, and she responded in turn by shyly leaning into him. A small sigh escaped her maw as the comforting warmth surrounded her, yes, she could get used to this, though she would not be the first to admit it. Acélan`s voice broke the transfixed state in which she found herself and adverting her eyes she flipped onto the ground and gave a quick stretching roll. Settling back onto her stomach she reached up to give his a gentle nudge of her nose, a quick wag of her tail brushing against his back leg a fitting response to his question. Settling into the mossy earth Keinvarii quirked a brow, “Never better, certainly after such a warm welcome, but what about dear King Acélan?” Her voice was teasing, her eyes amused as she proceeded to gnaw a piece off her catch, determined not to let her meal go to waste.
It was rather nice, returning to a den area that was not empty and hollow, and even though their relationship was not deep, perhaps they could become friends. Companionship had never been something she had given any thought to, her past had been fraught with lonely nights and days until she had joined the Accord. Inheriting the pack had not been something she was prepared for, and she had almost lost it too, but her resolve was resolute and her passion for what she believed in indomitable, and with the help of only her most trusted friends they had persevered.
One could never understand the pride she felt upon accepting new members, the joy it brought to offer shelter and a home to those that came seeking shelter and the content upon watching the sun set on a land that was home to the finest individuals she had ever met. She wished to gift them with hope for the future, and pups would bring bring about this, and a part of her, a maternal instinct dormant in all females, looked forward to the new role she would gain. Could this male come to understand this deep commitment to her pack? Could she ever share that this pack had given her back a life she had thought never to have again, a family, a purpose, a home and a heart?

He flashed his mate a charming smile as she dropped onto the ground and nudged him. Ácélan winked at her reply and his voice was playful. "Oh, I'm great as ever." He chuckled at the sight of his mate; earlier Keinvarii seemed uncertain about his request but now he knew he was right. No surprise there. She was much sweeter like this, more... appealing. Now he was really looking forwards to get to know her better. He moved to settle down beside her, still keeping his icy eyes on her. Quietly the king admired the way the final sun rays highlighted her gentle curves. The orange highlights complemented her dull colours, making her simple colours more enchanting. The contrast between the colour of the sunset and Keinvarii's rich blue eyes was incredible and this caused her eyes to appear much more alluring to gaze into. The Queen Keinvarii was a such beautiful female, even with her dull colours and huge frame, and Ácélan suddenly felt a great desire to protect her from any harm or misfortune. This desire was very powerful and the strength of it surprised him. This wasn't like the familiar male desire to protect females from harm; this was much more than just that.
He knew she was precious, very precious to both the pack and to him. For the pack, she was invaluable as, from what he had heard, she had brought the pack from the brink of extinction and, under her guidance, the pack had thrived, before she finally introduced them to this great lake and their new king. For him, she was the ticket to fame and wealth. He always had wanted to leave a significant impact on the world before he dies and Keinvarii gave him that chance. Now, thanks to her, he was less likely to be forgotten even after his death. With a twitch of his ears, Ácélan realised that he valued her purely because of his selfish reasons and, somehow, this felt wrong. Something inside him told him that she was much more than just that.
Snatching another glance at Keinvarii, his tail twitched as he realised that they were very different. She was kind and level-headed whereas he was more arrogant and hot-headed. For a moment he worried that this relationship won't work because of the differences between them. Soon it would become apparent that they didn't love each other and that they were mates only for the pack's benefit. Wolves would start to think their queen was using a stranger and had him to act as her king. It wouldn't look good for the two wolves, even if one of them wasn't doing this for herself. He didn't want this as it would tarnish his shining reputation and he didn't want this to happen to Keinvarii either as she doesn't deserve it. But somehow he knew she wouldn't be as affected as he would be if this got out. She already had friends to support her. Evelyn, the pretty wolf (he refused to call her a lumen), Raynor, the cael performer, and Siren, the hybrid.
A tiny smirk appeared on his dark lips as he remembered how the hybrid had slunk out of the meeting, but at the same time he still felt slightly threatened by his presence. Mostly because he and Keinvarii were quite close, closer than her and any other males it seemed. In fact, the black ice lupus was quite curious, if not concerned, with this closeness: "What are your friends like? I mean wolves like, let's say, Evelyn and Siren?" Even though he had plastered a completely fake curious look on his handsome face, he could not remove jealousy from his voice entirely when he mentioned the latter wolf's name.
All he could do was to hope that Keinvarii wouldn't think that he was feeling threatened. After all why would a great and handsome lupus feel threatened by a plain-looking and drab mutt?

Was this what it was supposed to be like between mates? Comfortable companionship and with the call of something more, akin to a yearning and a want to know this male more. With Acélan so near she could feel the tips of her fur warmed by his body and she looked up to gaze at the strongly built male, softly scrutinizing his eyes as if trying to read his soul. His pelt gleamed with hidden highlights of blue as small crystals of ice twinkled beneath soft layers of black silk, a frozen sky come to grace the forest. His eyes reminded her of a wintery moon, cold and brilliant they certainly reflected the spark of energy Acélan seemed to have.
Great was he? Well Keinvarii supposed it served to reason, though another might have felt trapped and laden with the new burden of responsibility, perhaps some just admiration was due. Keinvarii herself had slowly slid into acquiring more responsibility, though in the end the abrupt departure of Magispar had certainly plunged her deep into unfamiliar waters. Sink or swim had been her choices, and she was not one to lay down and accept defeat so easily. No, and for some odd reason she could not imagine Acélan would either and this was a comforting notion. Perhaps they had more in common then at first glance? Certainly he seemed the type that would be able to protect their pups when the time came, and there had been no more intruders in their lands so as far as she could tell he had more then held up his side of the bargain. Would he leave after all was said and done? She had had told him he would be free to do as he pleased after he sired pups upon her, but part of her was already beginning to hope he might choose to stay.
Her eyes came to fall upon the muscles adorning his body, an instinct old as time seeming to push her to be in his presence and she reached up to nip at his shoulder playfully. She did not know whether her pack had fully accepted him as their king, the unexpected announcement would have jarred them and no doubt there were some unwilling to yet accept his standing. Tilting her head just so she watched at the light caught the crystals of ice in his pelt, causing them to shimmer brilliant. A knowing smile touched her maw, yes he certainly looked the part, even managed to act as much, so perhaps the Great Spirit had sent him to her recognizing his true potential. Well I don’t know about that, she thought ruefully, but we shall certainly see.
Keinvarii’s ears came to prick forward as she listened to his inquiry, it seemed fighting he might want to know about her friends and it pleased her to a deep level that he might take an interest in her life. After all, he needn’t inquire and learn if it did not please him to do so, and so she was much too happy to speak of her friends whom she held in the highest esteem. Admiration was evident in her voice when she spoke of Evelyn, “Evelyn is a most trust worthy Archduchess, she tried to play a trick on me the first time I met her, and given I considered her to be a threat at the time we fought. It is said when one catches a Lumen they receive a wish, and she granted me one of my choice, so I chose that she might stay for a while in the pack and get to know us all.” The memory brought a rueful smile to her maw, at the time she had been prickly and highly annoyed by the Lumen’s manners. “I guess the request surprised her, and so she gave me a flower that strengthened my powers and gave the pack a try. Since then she has remained in the Accord and I might add that we see more eye to eye now.” Her laugh came out unexpectedly, hearty and sincere.
Her thoughts returned to Raynor, he too had joined the pack and stayed with them through thick and thin, as had Faye and the two wolves were also considered close relations. “Raynor and Faye have been here since the beginning, they did not desert the pack in its darker moments and so they have also earned a place as one of my friends. Raynor is experienced and has a good trustworthy soul; Faye is wise and knowledgeable and has been a great asset in keeping this pack on the right track.” She nodded in approval, content with her descriptions before considering Siren, whom she had not known for all that long, but with whom she felt a connection anyways. Pausing for a minute she finally added, “Siren is a gentle fellow, he had such soft mannerisms and a polite disposition that it was hard not to get along with him, I am sure the others would agree.” She gave him a questioning look, as though to ask if he understood from where she was coming from and why all the wolves were of such importance to her.

He twitched his ears when Keinvarii started to speak. To his surprise, curiosity started to fill his mind. He had never actually thought about Keinvarii's relationship with her friends; he initially only cared about Siren. An amused smile appeared on his black lips when his mate mentioned Evelyn. He still remembered the floating stick and her icy tone when she addressed him. It would be interesting to know how the friendship between Keinvarii and Evelyn started. The grin on his mouth grew as she told him about their fight; how he would love to watch two pretty females fighting, especially Keinvarii as he didn't think he had ever seen her fury. He wanted to test her someday and with this idea Ácélan inclined his head. For a short moment, a sudden impulse from his masculine instinct commanded him to do this now. Test Keinvarii and her power and passion. It would be fun but his common sense told him it wouldn't be appropriate with their business-like relationship. Well, now he wouldn't call it a business relationship; it was more like friendship but it would still be inappropriate. After all, would a friend start a fight with another with a carnal intent? He didn't think so but the idea was extremely amusing for him.
He raised his brows when Keinvarii told him that she wished for Evelyn to join her pack. Did he just hear right? A lupus wished for a lumen to join her pack? He narrowed his eyes, didn't she know about the rivalry between the two species? Possibly but yet it didn't stop her from wishing that. Keinvarii had way too much surprises for Ácélan and he wasn't sure if it was good for him. But he liked that trait in her; it made her more mysterious and exciting. He smiled to her laugh. Then she spoke about two other wolves: Raynor and Faye (was she that lightning lupus he saw in the meeting?) and their stories weren't as interesting but it was nice to know. It pleased him to know that Raynor and Faye had been with Keinvarii ever since the beginning of the Accord. Then he suddenly wondered if they were satisfied with their new king. They would have to as they were stuck with him and he made a mental note to meet up with them to get know them better.
Then Siren. Ácélan gave Keinvarii his full attention with his ears swivelled forwards for clearer hearing. He heard nothing except for her words. No underlying emotion, nothing. He nodded, satisfied with her answer. Siren may be polite but Ácélan decided not to get along with him. The lord was nothing of great importance to the king. He was being difficult on purpose, but he didn't want Keinvarii to know this as he may appear disrespectful. "Sounds like you've got a nice bunch of friends." He glanced away from the female's face to gaze at a patch of grass nearby. He was speaking the truth and this made him realise that he had no friends. He had been travelling too long, never staying at one place more than one week. A loner life was both exciting and lonely. Sure he had met many wolves but he never stick around long enough. Places bore him too quickly. But now that he was at a place he found alluring and beautiful he intend to stay. Perhaps then he could find someone.

However he was a difficult male to read, this strange mate of hers, and she could not seem to decipher him. One minute he was almost rude, the next flirtatious and then once and a while she would glimpse an almost affectionate side of him. She rather liked that side if she was being plainly honest with herself, though she supposed fierce seemed to summarize his disposition. As it would need to be as Keinvarii was no meek and mild female, simply restrained in the face of her rank and only a strong male would be able to rule properly by her side. Acelan was certainly hearing a mouthful from her side, but what did she know of this wolf`s past? All she knew was that this business arrangement was beginning to turn into something more and she was feeling emotions for this male that she had yet to ever experience before, and this pricked her concerns.
During the days Keinvarii had found herself thinking of the dark lupus, and on several occasions, pondering what he might be up to, wondering if he was thinking of her as well and even anticipating her return to the den. There had been a void before his arrival, one she had not known about for she had yet to know anything other than that void, but now with a companion the Queen was beginning to see that she had perhaps been lonely. Now she had another that she knew would usually be waiting for her to return, one with whom she no longer just discussed the pack and this sense of growing attachment put her at unease. What of when he left, for surely he would given there were plenty of more vivacious and willing to please females that would ask nothing of him except a good time out in the world. Perhaps it was dangerous to care too much for Acelan, and yet she yearned to reach out to someone, even if it was but for a brief moment in time.
Seasons of heat had come and gone in the past and she had filled those restless times with pack activities, occupying her female instincts elsewhere. However with the pack on solid ground her approaching season was already beginning to wreak havoc on her nerves and she found herself having trouble from tearing her eyes away from the handsome brute when in his presence. It was all so overwhelming that it left her powerless, and she did not enjoy not having absolute control over her life. Trying to distract herself from these thoughts and his enticing scent she asked, “And what of yourself my King,” for indeed he certainly was, “do you have friends to speak of?” Her blue eyes matched his own, but hers were filled with an almost soft interest and caring, unusual for one used to being strong in the face of other`s company. Great Spirits, she cursed, there she was showing weakness to a total stranger, imbecilic.
Was it her fault that her fur was prickling and her blood beginning to boil? Hell, the heat rising to her face might have been the hint of a blush and she resisted the urge to fidget. Darn, she certainly could not have picked a better looking fellow for the role, and she shifted her eyes uncomfortably, it certainly didn`t improve matters that she was so plain. The fact that her coat did not dazzle like so many other lupus had never been a sore point before, but she now found herself wanting to be pleasing to the eye, a frivolous and entirely ridiculous notion at best. Being so near season a deeper part of her yearned for the yips of pups, and perhaps such an event would please the pack as well. After all, it was part of her duty to ensure the pack would be secure for another generation and though she had never put much thought into it before the idea of raising a brood of her own was pleasing. What would they be like? It was hard to imagine what combining Acelan and her essence would create and perhaps she would tint the poor pups with her drab appearance. She surprised herself in asking almost wistfully, “Do you ever imagine what our pups might be like?” At that she blushed deeply, entirely shocked that she might venture to ask such a question.

Even though he hadn't made any friends during his long journey, in fact not since Pála left him, he had never realised that he was truly alone. There were few females that had made his few nights fun but they didn't give him the warm feeling of companionship he was feeling right now. This sensation was rather odd, he had to admit; it was rather fuzzy and comforting. Ácélan's curiosity was piqued by it but at the same time he was slightly suspicious of it. Was he starting to care about Keinvarii? No, the idea was preposterous. He hadn't cared ever since he had been rejected by the only female he had truly liked. The string of females after that, all of them was for his own entertainment.
Was Keinvarii just another entertainment? The black lupus found the idea unsettling, she didn't deserve that; she was gentle, devoted, and strong so she deserved someone just as perfect. The small part of his mind asked him what of other females, they might be like Keinvarii. Possibly but Ácélan felt nothing not even a shred of remorse. Wait. Did this mean the King does care about the Queen? Then for a brief second he was horrified by this; he didn't want to hurt his mate like he hurt Pála. No, don't be silly, Pála hurt and left you, even after you saved her. He told himself. Keinvarii won't do the same thing. Wait, when did he care about her leaving him? Of course, since he took her offer to be a king. Yes, he was only interested in being a king than Keinvarii. He didn't want to do anything that might hurt her and have his title stripped.
He turned his head to look at the stone lupus, should he mention Pála? Well, it was ages ago so he smiled and replied: "There was one. Pála." He shook his head, "It was ages ago and she means nothing to me." Not wholly true, even now he still felt the gaping hole in his chest as he remembered her painful words, her frightened voice, and the terrified look on her pretty face. But it was in the past and it should stay there. He didn't know what would happen if he decided to let it bother him now and he didn't want to know. The ice lupus had his mate to look forwards with and, with gratitude, he met her eyes and, to his surprise, they were soft and caring. Had he spurred something inside her? He grinned, it wasn't a shock really. Actually the shock was that it had taken this long. "She doesn't matter, I have you." He nudged her with his shoulder and said jokily; "Friends forever?"
Ácélan was content with just watching her face. Sure, she wasn't as breathtaking or glamorous as few females he had seen but it was her eyes, power and gentleness that drew him in. Those traits were obvious in her whole appearance therefore making her beautiful in his eyes. He had never seen a female standing up for herself so strongly, refusing to show even a crack of weakness to others. Except to him but he was her mate so that didn't count.
Keinvarii's next words forced his mind grind to a halt; "What?" Then he looked away. Should he think about this now? Ácélan had avoided the thought of puppies after he accepted her offer; he didn't like the idea of being tied down. He would feel... imprisoned. But the question was different; he had never thought about this in this way. In fact, what would their puppies look like? Would they be majestic like their mother or handsome like their father? The image of a mini version of Ácélan running around, causing mischief came to his mind. He laughed softly and started to think this would be quite sweet. The dark lupus had been alone for a long time and this could be the reason he was terrified by this. He didn't know what it would be like around same wolves for a long while. He didn't know if he would take off, as he always do, if this family business started to escalate. However, he began to see this as another adventure or else he would panic.
"I don't know. I can only see mini me causing ruckus." He shrugged and then he realised something. Was she dropping hints? If so, he would be more than pleased; it was about time that they get to know each other in an intimate way. After all what was the chance to have puppies after the first time. He snickered and there was a mischievous look in his icy blue eyes. "Are you suggesting something, my Queen?"

Keinvarii had never known much affection for males, sure she had her friendship with Raynor and perhaps if she had gotten to know Siren she imagined something more might have come of the relationship. But with the hybrid it had been more of a placid gentle affection, with this male she felt something more, and though it was not as easy to understand, it was more vivid. It was not in her to mislead a wolf, and so she could not express any feelings without being absolutely sure of her intentions. Acelan had cordially agreed to help her out in a time of distress, to this she owed him much gratitude and she could certainly not make his stay uncomfortable by her own issues. And worse, what if he did not return her sentiments? Keinvarii had never felt such emotions for anyone before, and as such lacked the confidence to properly voice them.
What if he did not return them? Well Keinvarii would feel terribly foolish and worse he would believe her to be a simple fickle emotional female and she could not have the King of all individuals believing this when other’s opinions rode on his own impressions within the pack. What she did know was that she was certainly beginning to lust after him, the attraction was palpable and it felt as though her fur sizzled every time he approached her. Lately sleeping in the same den had proven difficult, for though before it was simply easy, now that there was an attraction she lay awake wondering what he might be thinking. And damn if being in her season of heat didn’t help matters at all! Such a weakness only seemed to render her usually strong defenses poor and lacking at best and something primal yearned to reach out to the male that was readily available.
Keinvarii sensed that this Pala, if worth mentioning, had once meant more than just nothing and a part of her could not resist feeling slightly jealous at the thought that another female had been of importance to Acelan. His comment merited contemplation, but her mind could not focus and she interpreted his comment as meaning that perhaps she could count herself as one of those that meant something to the male and not a simple business partner. Smiling, she was unable to conceal some of the smug pleasure the idea brought her, and reaching up to nudge his chin with her nose she added, “Friends”.In the back of her mind she heard herself add, and maybe more, rather wistfully. Unable to help herself she gave the hollow in the corner of his maw a brief lick, female instincts to soothe and comfort more dominant then they had ever been.
Frankly, now that she sought about, those instincts had never really been dormant as she had tended for the pack in the same way she might a mate, with diligent attention, loyalty, caring and a strong urge to protect. Would it be the same with her own family? She was not getting any younger and the more she aged the more basic need screamed out with a desire to nurture a brood of her own, the pack was something to care for, but it was poor substitution for pups. Besides, new life would bring a youthfulness to the pack, wouldn`t it? Her mind was certainly finding a lot of pros to her situation; responsibility was not a fear of hers for she had found herself to be rather adept at maintaining large quantities of requirements. Part of her feared that Acelan would leave them, and her pups would grow up without knowing their father though it was a risk she was willing to take for as long as she lived they would be cared for, of that there was no doubt.
A part of Keinvarii kicked in, a side of her that she never knew she had urging to take charge and move forth. She had already proven to be a leader despite her initial beliefs and desperate times called for desperate measures. The surprise on Acelan`s face was rather comical, and a teasing grin came to her maw, a quick flash of amusement within her eyes. There, she thought, how`s that for rattling your chains? She could certainly picture his offspring raising hell, what fun it would be to frolic with lively pups, and with his genes they would stand a chance of being good looking. Taking her confidence by the horns she sat up and said, “My, but you do catch on quick, why shouldn`t we enjoy each other`s company? We needn`t restrain basic instinct simply for appearance`s sake…” The Queen`s tone was suggestive, but once she had made up her mind there was no going back and for now instinct drove her to seek what she wanted. The words sounded foreign on her tongue, and her heart was in her throat but she could not longer deny herself what she had lacked for 4 years, and so out of her comfort zone she ventured

"Speaking"
- - - The post may be a little rubbish but muse is starting to return so hopefully it won't be so bad c:
--------------
Ãcélan never had a problem with confessing his feelings, especially to a female. He couldn't understand why anyone would hide their feelings, as there was no shame in confessing. This might be unfair as he knew he had the looks and experience therefore he knew it was unlikely to have a female rejecting him. He was often so sure with himself and this usually made it easier for him to confess, but right now he found himself feeling several emotions at once. And that wasn't good as it meant he was beginning to feel unsure. What was he feeling? Elated that he was about to get what he wanted or was it because he was with Keinvarii? Protective because of their deal or because he cared about this female so much? Nervous... Nervous?! Why the hell would he be nervous? Keinvarii was his mate and he had done this several times before... Perhaps that was the reason; she was his mate. If something happened, like puppies, he would be responsible to take care of them. Sure, he might already have children from his past matings but he would never know. Keinvarii expected him to stick around after this so he would know the outcome of their night together. He shoved those messy, confusing thoughts out of his mind.
The black lupus guessed that Keinvarii also was feeling nervous, who wouldn't, and this reassured him. But he envied her for not feeling the same messy emotions he was experiencing right now. She was far too controlled and sensible to feel like this and, for once, he wished he was like her. But Ãcélan wasn't so he told himself to get over whatever he was feeling right now. Suddenly he thought that he must be quite silly, brooding about his feelings and he resolved that he didn't want Keinvarii to know this. But this rattled him even more as he was hiding his feeling from Keinvarii, something he swore he would never do.
Again Ãcélan pushed those thoughts out of his head and decided to look at Keinvarii and savour her mystery. Instantly he found himself staring at her eyes, as he always did whenever he turned to look at her. A soft laugh escaped his lips, "Why shouldn't we, indeed? Why shouldn't we?" He moved closer, he wanted to feel her warm body against his cold fur. His body was pressing against hers hard, not wanting to let go. His nose searched for her cheek and licked it roughly before moving up to her ear. Anticipation was clear in his icy eyes as he looked at Keinvarii out of the corner of his eyes.

Fur bristling with anticipation and perhaps even fear she watched and listened for Acelan`s reply, wondering if he would even want to be with one that lacked the appeal that other female`s seemed to naturally exude. For now she had to let go of that reserved leader that dominated her thoughts and allow basic instinct to finally claim its place. For years she had suppressed such nature, not wanting to loose control over herself and clinging to the belief that if she remained aloof she could ensure her own survival as well as that of the pack`s. Sure, she gave them her love and devotion, and committed herself to ensuring its survival, but never had she really cut loose and allowed herself to feel. Feel passion for something other than her responsibility, allow desire to bubble through her blood and dare to simply let nature takes its rightful course. She wondered if it would feel good to finally surrender, and so she did, moving closer to the King and brushing up playfully against his body. When Acelan returned her advances she did not speak, no for it was no longer a time for words and instead she allowed her actions to guide her. Moving in she nipped at his haunches, jumping just out of grasp with an enticing growl and a teasing wag of her tail, her eyes locked onto his own icy shade of blue. Something felt alive within her being and an odd energy was spreading through her limbs, a desire to push forward and feel the joining of bodies between mates. Sure, he wasn`t her mate by the more traditional and preferred means, but all the same there seemed to be an attraction and in this period of the season the female in her naturally called out the one that was acting as her mate. Coming up closer with a suggestive whine she licked his chin softly, moving her caress to his ear where she nuzzled just behind it with her nose. Keinvarii recognized him as being the other Alpha and knew that in strength he was certainly her equal, if not more and right now she would not consider what this might do to their current friendship. All she knew was that his pelt brushing up against her own was sending shivers of surprised delight down her spine, a soft sigh escaping her maw. His scent overwhelmed her, imprinting onto her own body and claiming it as his and in turn she was marking the King as hers alone. Just as she could feel the restless demand building up within her muscles she knew he too was anticipating what was to come and having abstained for so long Keinvarii could only submit, allowing Acelan control as she moved to allow him behind her and finally she let go....
