[scrolly:h(330),w(400),sy,c()] The heiress to the Enclave was awake late this afternoon, her lazy form draped over a few lumpy pieces of fur as her muzzle opened in a wide yawn, drawing her lips back over sharp teeth. The tri-colored female had been alerted to daylight as it arose through the openings in the Home Tree and draped over her body, making her body hotter as it reflected off the gray and pepper speckled top of her body. She had rolled on her back to try to even out the temperature by showing her whiter middle and underbelly but the forest green of her legs still worked against her. With a ‘harumph’ of annoyance she pushed herself into a standing position, then lowered her upper body into a long stretch wagging her naturally short tail this way and that until it seemed to take control of rump, and the motion followed all the way up to her shoulders until she was prancing around this way and that. With a snort of amusement she left the den she had claimed as her own, for now it was closer to the middle of the tree, she wanted to be able to be found, but also not have to climb down from the top to go outside, so to her it was very reasonable. She knew a lot of the keiyou liked the top and for the most part everyone else just slept where they felt comfortable.
As she made her way out of the den she nodded and spoke to the a few of the females who were around, always politely and sweetly, always thinking of her father’s reputation as she did so. She knew she could go find her brothers around here somewhere, but seeing as they were all nearing adulthood she knew they would have different responsibilities now. They would be out patrolling with her father, marking the lines of the pack, and even hunting for the females, while Adraxxia didn’t quite understand her father’s thinking that females couldn’t hunt at least big game, she understood she loved him and would do everything to make him happy. So the larger Yagi female left the Home Tree and stepped out into the sun and proceeded to shake any debris and dirt from her pelt with a happy grunt. Adraxxia would never be as big as Aroh, but she did come to be bigger than Syver, at least right now anyway she thought with a smile. Her horns were beginning to grow and thicken as they curled back along the sides of her skull and she was content that they were no longer “nubby thingies” and were beginning to really be seen as Yagi horns. She had indeed grown into a lovely young female.
To add to her allure beyond her stunningly friendly personality, were the two differently colored eyes she possessed. As though her genetics from her mother and father had fought and neither had backed down, providing her with one dark emerald green eye, and one bright as the sun yellow one. She blinked and then began to head out into the forest to find her breakfast, although she knew she could eat from the prey cache she tried not to as long as she was able to catch something, small as it may have been. She knew one of the females had just recently had puppies, and that she had males waiting on her, but Adraxxia figured she could do her part by finding her own food if nothing else. Seeing as most of the snow had melted, and the days had become a little less unbearably cold, she knew the prey would be brave enough to venture forth from their shelters to try to find food before the next blizzard hit, or some other force of nature which would force them to try to take shelter again. Her eyes sharply glanced along the land in front of her as her nose twitched back and forth and her ears turned this way and that waiting to pick up the sounds of things moving around her.
Now in many cases Adraxxia’s pelt worked against her, especially when it was bright white snow that covered every inch of the taiga, but now with spring she had at an advantage. The ground was becoming more brown and green, and thusly when she crouched her lower body she blended in, and depending on if there was brush or something close by the speckled pepper of her top coat helped as well. Seeing a rather plump jackalope in front of her she smiled, her teeth glinting in the light as she felt her legs tighten and prepare for the spring where she would tackle the prey and kill it. However, it didn’t quite work that way, as she sprung, she landed perhaps a foot short, giving the animal the heads up, and a leeway start to run from her. With a snarl of disgust she pumped after the fast creature..(perhaps too fast for being so ‘plump’), trying to close in and grab one of it’s feet while avoiding the things horns that could injure her if caught the wrong way. After chasing through brush and trees, she knew the stupid creature would find shelter soon if she didn’t do something, and losing her patience she pushed up her speed, crunching down on branches and debris as she swung her head angrily to the side, slamming her horn into the side of the creature, the force alone enough to stop the chase. With a frustrated growl she stepped up to the flailing creature as it tried to breathe through broken bones, and dipped her head down to snap its neck as she picked it up and headed over to the lake with her prize to eat.
It was a trek, but it also allowed her to see the changes that had come with the end of winter and the beginning of spring in the north. It also gave her heartbeat a chance to slow down to a normal pace as she had stopped running but was doing more slow climbing travel. She could not help but be proud of herself, she was warm, had acquired her own lunch, and was simply proud of herself appearance, and skill wise. Even though she had almost lost the creature the only face that mattered was that she had gotten it in the end regardless of what she had to do. Coming upon the lake in front of her, she stopped and simply stared at it. It was an impressive sight, the larger chunks of ice were breaking up but still provided a glittering surface against the sun as though in a sense of defiance, it was the perfect scene for Adraxxia to enjoy her lunch, and so she sat down, and came to lay down with the animal in her front paws and began to remove the fur and enjoy the taste of victory, the only thing that might have made it better was company the female thought with a tinge of sadness…[/scrolly]
