The wind was surprisingly warmer then Ceru had thought it to be. She scuffed her feet along the melted snow, making trenches as she went. She stopped as she came upon a lake. The sun revealed itself from out among the clouds, and she could see the slightest glimmer at the bottom. Was it gold? Never mind. Ceru had came for one thing, and that was pine needles. She knew how they were slightly poisonous, and was curious how they would affect other plants. They also could be helpful in dyeing her fur to another color.
Ceru had came upon many pine trees, but they were either too high to climb up or too weak for the kind of thing she needed. Ceru glanced over at a pine tree waving in the wind. One of it's branches was just high enough to reach by jumping. Ceru walked briskly over. She eyed the branch, crouched down, and jumped up, digging her claws into the bark to keep from slipping. In an instant, she had launched herself from the trunk to the branch. She balanced like a cat, keeping her feet from slipping. Then she walked over to a branch that looked like it would support her weight. She then took a branch above her in her mouth and broke it off of the tree. It was more like a twig, but it had enough pine needles.
Ceru judged the distance from herself to the ground. I can make that. She thought. She shifted her body towards the snow and leaped from the branch. She glided through the air and landed perfectly, on all fours. But there was a problem. She was covered in sap. Her nose wrinkled at the pungent smell, and she shook her fur out. The sap stayed attached to her fur. Ceru was annoyed. She had taken painstaking measures to make her fur as well-suited to the condition as possible, and now she was covered in tree blood!
Ceru walked over to the lake."I guess I could just wash it off." She said to herself. Ceru took a cautious step on the ice. She winced as it cracked underneath her. She hurried to the hole in the middle of the ice and paused at the rim. She took a deep breath and dived in.
Ceru gasped at how cold the water was. She lost her breath to the freezing water. Ceru just floated there, under the water, and in a moment snapped out of her shock. She forced her eyes open underwater and looked around. She swam over to a rock jutting out from under the ice and rubbed the sap off on it. She then turned around and swam towards the surface. She instantly broke her head above water, climbing out of the ice hole as fast as possible. Once out, she shivered. Now the wind seemed to cut right into her, like little sheets of glass freezing her to her soul. She shook off the water and noticed her reflection. She was glittering with those little gold specks! It was very distracting, and Ceru knew that she could put this to use.
She didn't know if gold had any value among the packs, but wherever she went, she now knew another trick to disguise herself. She must have stirred up the gold from the bottom of the lake. Shiny. Look at the sparkles. I am shiny. Ceru thought with a little bit of giddiness. She knew she was being ridiculous, but it just was so......Fascinating. The wind blew again, sending a chill across her body and reminding her of the reason why she came. She shook her head and picked up the pine needles. I am not the person I saw in the lake. I need to get this gold off.

Speech | Think | Walk The summer months brought an oppressive weight of heat upon the Hybrid, plastering his dense fur against the hard ridges of his muscled body as the humidity slowed his motions and exiled him to the night of Wonderwhy. Prowling for food was only done in the night hours where the sun could not reach him, and the striped wolf would often sit in the coolness alone as the light of the moon cascaded down upon his pale white body, illuminating startlingly vivid icy blue eyes as they looked upon his shadowy kingdom. Very few ever saw this retired king move throughout the night, only his lingering aura of disturbing nature would remain, leaving wolves wonder what creature had once trod upon their same path. The silence of the night catered to the ancient wolf with a soulful abandon, wrapping him up in the fibers of time as his mind teetered precariously between past and present in his lonely and aimless travels.
The hybrid was cursed with eternal damnation of the ageless, he remained in his prime and had outlived all that he had ever known, 280 years of lonely exile, impervious to stop change from taking everything from him. His mind was as sharply destructive as his physical force and the force that dwelled in a carnal manner deep within the core of his being kept him going. Caesar could shape shift into a white tiger, it was a transformation that had served him well, but the feline's undying desire to persevere kept the wolf latched onto a life devoid of hope. At 49' tall and weighing in at 230 pounds, Caesar hardly needed the force of the feline transformation, but still the strength and vitality that being a tiger brought him remained one of the singular sources of amusement for him.
So it wasn't difficult to imagine how the heat affected the large brute, in this he had retired to the northern borders where he might find relief from summer and the buzz of life it brought. The only benefit was the abundance of prey, Caesar did not have to hunt long to find food to fill his stomach and support the nourishment levels he required. His ability to communicate with other species sometimes made the job that much easier, toying with his prey providing meager mental stimulus in a world barren of relationships for the wolf.
It was day now and he had retired under the shelter of a grove of pine trees, having dug out a hole in the snow to rest. The landscape suited him well, he could camouflage well enough with his pale white coat and dull charcoal stripes in wolf form. If he adopt his feline counterpart that white became almost brilliant and the stripes darkened into an abysmal inky black, lessening his chances of going about unnoticed. Before him stretched the expanse of a frozen lake, perpetrated by holes here and there where Caesar had dug into the surface to be able to drink or hunt for fish when the whim struck him. Right now his frigid gaze was following the shape of a wolf, a female by the scent, as she went about swimming in the cold water. He should have merely closed his eyes and ignored her, none would be foolish enough to disturb the large brute as he slept, but the shine coming off her fur as she exited the water caught his interest. Furrowing his brow he rose and uncurled in a feline matter, walking across the ice and out from his partially concealed place of rest with a growling rumble of greeting, "And why does thee shine stranger? Might it be you have uncovered something of interest in the depth of this lake's belly? She is a frigid queen this lake, I find it interesting she should gift you with her minerals and take nothing in return..." His eyes burned with a disconcerting alertness, he had seen enough in his life to recognize the flecks as gold, not exactly a common mineral anymore. Once it was served to line the expanse of his rich den, rich crystals and fine gold dusting outlining the heavy blankets of rare pelts, but the time of grand kings was gone.

OCC: Yeah, sorry about how short this post is. I'm a little distracted at the moment.
Ceru's ears shot up as she heard a voice rumble from under the pine trees. "And why does thee shine stranger? Might it be you have uncovered something of interest in the depth of this lake's belly? She is a frigid queen this lake, I find it interesting she should gift you with her minerals and take nothing in return..." The voice sounded odd, almost like a growl. It pricked Ceru's curiosity as she heard the way he spoke, almost like those in the stories of old.
Ceru was taken off guard, and had no time to think of a different version of herself. Instead she looked at him with clear, cool eyes and she rose her head high. "I do not wish to seem rude, but may I ask why you are here? Many wolves wish to be in the warmth of the summer. Unless you aren't a wolf....."
|
[/b] Ceru took a second glance at this stranger. He was mainly white, with stripes of black running throughout his pelt, reminding her of ink running down white rock. He seemed to have a wolf-like appearance, but in a way he also seemed almost feline. Ceru nodded slightly as she directly addressed his question. "I too was surprised at the lake's generosity. I know that more often than not, she had taken rather than gave. Perhaps she feels regret?"[/b] There was hidden sarcasm in that sentence, but it was up to the wolf to find it. Ceru was surprised at how she acted like.....herself. She didn't feel discomfort or nervousness. She felt like she was supposed to be this way. Ceru guessed it must be the chill of the lake. It was summer, but there was still snow and ice around. She looked around for the pine needles. They were gone, but Ceru found that the wolf before her was much more interesting. Speech | Think | Walk Ears flicking back briefly, Caesar took his time in answering the younger wolf's question, it had been blunt and did not address his own inquiries. What need did this wolf have to be informed about the ancient hybrid's business? It seemed like a most unnecessary question and the experience Rogue could not help but curl his lip up in mild contempt. With a rich voice he replied, somewhat dismissively, "It is none of your concern as to what affairs may bring me into this northern climate, it is of no consequence to your safety if that is what you fear. How can you be certain wolves crave the oppressing heat of summer? Is it not dense fur that line our bodies, layers that shelter our bodies from the cold and yet stifle us under the blaze of the sun? One might consider seeking a cooler climate to be reasonable, if not completely expecting from creatures such as ourselves... I am no less wolf than yourself, and yet much more then wolf, that be the riddle to the question itself." He tipped his head in bemusement, answering her questions with puzzles that only hinted at probable answers without fully divulging more than he cared to tell. It was a game, a trifle battle of wits that barely managed to keep his interest peeked.
His frozen eyes scanned the surface of the lake, her icy surface harsh and unyielding as violent cracks in her frozen skin could be heard. The waters did not forgive and did not apologize for their fierceness, her belly flowed deep with hidden currents and none could know what foul creatures lived in the darkness of her core. Quietly he responded, "The lake does not regret her claims, she remains impassive in the face of suffering, she is but one of the queens of this harsh land and her blows are fearsome. The very heart of this land wreaked havoc upon the wolves that dared to conquer it, a wintry storm drove the proud pack to its knees and it is said claimed lives in its wake." With that his eyes came back to meet that of the female wolf's, sharp and eerily cunning.
The female wolf did not have any pack scent to her, and seemed to conserved the appearance of a lupus, a loner per chance? Lupus were tricky beings, their powers weren't always the easiest to work with, but then again Caesar's bag of tricks wasn't either. Sweeping into a curt elegant bow, Caesar let the barest hint of a smile tug at the corner of his maw, "Caesar, Rogue and bearer of many lives." His brow quirked ever so slightly as the tip of his striped tail flicked out behind him. The large male was grossly larger than the female with dark markings falling from the corner of her golden eyes, so he felt no reserves about his position. Perhaps he would employ some of his debonair charm should this female prove to be interesting, he had not been around any females in a while, a a pair of wings and a sultry black body flashed in his mind, a sennyo he had met some time ago...
