[OOC: Sorry! It's a little short]
It was cold. It was windy. it was dry. It was the worst day to fly. Alari soared through the sky, but did almost a dive close to the ground. Soon later, she landed. She couldn't take it anymore. "Why is it so damn cold today?! Oh well, at least it isn't winter, yet. I heard this place looks ugly in the winter... Cold, dry, bare, snow, AND brown. I don't mind snow, nope, not at all. I actually quite love to play in snow. As long as it isn't too cold outside, and there isn't a lot of wind, and it's snowing lightly. Oh, and if the snow is pretty deep! I love snow piles! Just love them!" Alari looked around and then sun low into the tall grass. Avoiding the wind, and avoiding being seen. She mumbled to herself, "Aaaaaannnnd; I'm talking to myself again. Pity." Alari rested her head on her paws as she laid down, beneath all of the wind and coldness. She closed her eyes, letting only her hearing and her smelling senses do the work.
There was something moving around. The wind moving around it told Alari it wasn't something small. She couldn't smell this creature, though. Maybe an elk, a deer possibly? No, it was too big. It was coming closer, and Alari was now crouching down, like when wolves stalk their prey. She inched forward, and the smell was stronger. After moving about 3 feet closer, she realized what the animal was. It was bigger than her, way bigger. Although to Alari, she would've expected the creature to be taller. It was a dragon.
Alari froze in place. Not breathing, nor blinking. She literally seemed frozen. The could see the sharp claws of the beast. It was not much taller than her, only about 8 feet taller than her. The beast had an interesting pattern on its scales. Their main color was black, but it had white lines that made it look like a skeleton. A skeleton dragon. It didn't seem to notice Alari, even if it did, it just flew off. She stayed frozen, shock filling her face and her mind. Still frozen.

Tainted struggled to keep from tripping as she made her way across the plains. She hadn't enjoyed snow much as a young pup, and she definitely didn't like it now. It piled up in cold obstacles, blocking her way and freezing her legs. The worst part about snow is that it melted. Tainted absolutely despised the feeling of wet fur and cold snow. Tainted found a non-snow covered spot on the crest of a slight bump in the flat prairie, rising higher than the rest of the flat ground. Tainted rested there, warming her feet in the weak sunlight. She winced and cursed as her feet started to get a burning pain as they started to thaw out. She growled and stood up, trying to get her paws free of the cold burn. That's when Tainted saw the wolf. She was brown, and stood out only slightly from the brown-and white landscape. Tainted tilted her head to the side. She was feeling quite annoyed today, but not angry enough to become her darker half. Tainted wouldn't bother her, but why wasn't the wolf moving?
Tainted walked forward a few paces and then stopped. From here she could see that the wolf was female, from the way she held herself and her size. Then Tainted followed the she-wolf's frozen gaze and also suddenly seemed petrified. A dragon. It flapped it's mighty wings and flew off, higher and higher until it was a black speck on the blue sky. Tainted had always wanted to fly. The other wolf still wasn't moving, and Tainted noticed to large black blots on her sides. Tainted looked closer and gasped. Wings? Tainted was so overcome with curiosity that the words left her mouth before she could think. "Wings, have you!?"
Her voice seemed to bounce off of the snow and echo twice before disappearing. Tainted studied the wolf to judge her reaction. It looks like I have to meet her now that my cover's been blown.

It was like Alari was in a glass box. It wouldn't break. It couldn't break. Her mind was frozen. She's never seen a dragon before, and the thought of it shocked her so much, she just froze... Until the sound waves of a female hit Alari's ears. She unfroze, and it seemed as if she had never been frozen. "Yeah, I have wings. What's the matter? Never seen wings before? Been cooped up with the same species your whole life? Never had a thought of doing this?" Alari spread out her wings and lifted off, going straight towards the sky as fast as she could. The wings wasn't bad on her way up, since the strong breeze was going North. Once she hit the blue sky, she flew straight into a cloud, and when she came out, she was pretty wet from the water inside. Alari then dove down, and right before the ground, she stopped and landed slowly. "By the way, the name's Alari. Pleasure to meet you, uh..." Alari sat down and scratched her head with her back paw. Let's hope she doesn't speak of me freezing to any other wolf. That would suck, AND ruin my reputation!
Alari flicked her lion tail and then looked at the ground. Her pink eyes sparkled, and she looked at the wolf, full of amusement. "So, do you like to annoy, bother, or taunt other wolves? I love that! I also like wasting time" Alari gave a slight smirk and stood up. Alari then flew over to a nearby rock, still with a little grin on her face. "Listen, kid, as quick as it may seem, how's 'bout we make a little duo here? Have you ever caught a bird? It's quite fun! I'll demonstrate for you." Alari once again went to the sky, but no birds were seen. Hm, that's strange. There's usually birds in the sky. Oh well. Once she flew to the ground, she landed on the rock and continued, "Anyway, food isn't my point. We're both loners, right? If we have a little dynamic duo, we wouldn't just be a dynamic uno. Get what I'm saying? I like ya, kid. It's almost sudden, Alari twitched her eye and gulped. Her next words were filled with disgust, "Some sort of friendship...
Alari then winced.

Friendship? Tainted had never been offered quite a deal, but then again, she hadn't interacted with other wolves. Tainted tilted her head to the side. "Belong, Don't I. Friendship lasting? Not long." Tainted looked at friendship as a deal, a gamble, a vain hope that another wolf would have your back. "A deal, perhaps? Truces? Pain, all have felt I. What, say I, stops you from hurting me?" Tainted blinked. The last sentence was surprisingly clear. She wrapped her rough tail around her paws, a twinkle in her eye. She was plotting something. I would trust this wolf. Fish said. Trust is overrated. Let's see what this wolf is made of. Torn said, louder than Fish. Tainted put one ear back against her skull, meaning that she was deciding. Tainted took a deep breath. Make a deal, yes? Name is... Tainted hesitated. "Fadedlife. Yes, the name is mine. At service, yours. Tainted lowered her body in an exaggerated bow. She looked up, and smiled, stretching her lips in a wide grin, exposing her white canines. Tainted suddenly twitched. How did the wolf know who she was like? This was a very disturbing development. Tainted shook her head as if to clear it of water, then slowly sat back up, her stiff joints grinding, reminding Tainted of how much she hated the snow. "What say you?"

Alari cocked her head to the side at Fadelife's words. They were like dragon, or maybe even fox tongue. "Okay, so you don't belong? Well I can tell that you go along with me. It's almost like it was meant to be. Exactly why wont the friendship last long? I bet it would, well, you know, if we actually have fun and such. Alari sat down on the rock she was sitting on, which was about leveled to Fadelife's head, but a little higher. Then, she heard the wolf ask something. "I wouldn't hurt a friend, and besides, I believe we have A LOT in common Alari flicked her lion tail and waited for the wolf to make her choice, and slightly tilted her head to the side. "Fadedlife, huh? May I call you Fade?" What say you? Alari gave a slight twitch in her eye and leaned forward a little. I beg you pardon? I'm sorry, it's just that, I don't get it. If you mean, 'why or what makes you say that,' then here's my answer. Like I said before, it's almost like we were meant to be partners. Alliances. Chums. Troopers. Duo. Besides, if we're alike, then we could continue just fine through life. Oh, and no need for the bowing. I already have a feeling that I can trust you. Right?" Alari smiled at Fadedlife's teeth. Oh, and nice chompers you got'chya self there." Alari smiled even wider, and stood up, looking down at the wolf.

Tainted smiled even wider now that the first step of setting up one of her persona's lives was completed. Soon enough Fadedlife would become another part of her plan, a way to hide her true self from judging eyes. But her eyes clouded at a unfamilar word. "Fun?" She had heard of the time-passing activity, and once ago she might have been entertained by fun, but that time was long over. "Friendship, wouldn't last. I'm....hard to keep. Days too many, have passed. Without a light, Empty I am left. Tainted put all the emotion she could into those words, but she still felt as if something was missing. Empty was a perfect word for herself. The one wolf in the world who couldn't even speak right. There might be others, but chances are Tainted would never meet them. She doubted that this Alari was in any ways similar, but you never know. She scuffed the snow up around her paws, wincing at the cold, but hiding the marks. "So. Alari. The same, are we? Or, may that be trickery? No use, tricking me. I have nothing, nothing for you to use. Tainted waited for the approval of either Fish or Torn, but nothing. She was on her own. Tainted was slipping out of character. She was being too dark. She wasn't trusting the winged wolf, but still, she was the only way Tainted could manage to venture out into the world. She put her head to the side, mirroring Alai. "Never mind, you. Friends, we are. What will we become?Good?" Tainted started to sway, back and forth, like the trees on the wind. She had always felt comfort at the rhythmic motion. She would often sway when under stress or uncertainty. She kept her eyes on the winged wolf, wondering what would happen. Trust.

Fun?
Fun?
Fun?
The question ringed in Alari's ears. How could this wolf not know fun? Although, it seems as if she is new at this whole, friendship thing. Yeah, you know, fun! Fun is when, fun is... fun is when.. uh.. hm. Fun is something that you can't resist doing. It's. Um. A feeling that makes you happy inside, and makes you just want to do that thing for ever! Alari continued to smile, now wagging her tail. Friendship, wouldn't last. I'm....hard to keep. Days too many, have passed. Without a light, Empty I am left. Alari gave a slight nod, not knowing what to say. She shuddered as it was getting colder, and she looked around for a spot that would be warm. For her and her first friend. Ever since Alari abandoned her family, she has made alliances, partnerships, and annoyed some wolves here and there. Never a friend, though. Alari knows how many wolves act just by how they talk, and it's easy for her to make friends, but she doesn't. She's loyal, brave, and would put herself first for anybody; that she liked a lot, of course. Alari started wagging her tail more, then. Yes, I believe we are the same. Listen, Fade, I like you. You're just like me! Why exactly would I trick someone that I actually like? I only trick wolves when I want something from them. I already got what I wanted from you; friendship!
Alari chuckled when Fadelife mirrored her. So this is what it's like having a friend. I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at you. In a good way. You did something amusing, and I wouldn't want to upset your feelings. Never mind, you. Friends, we are. What will we become? Good? Alari nodded and then stood up smiling. When she went to jump off the rock, she slipped and fell because of frost. She fell in some sort of odd way, and she started laughing. Laughing at herself. I am fine, but I'm glad we're friends! We could do whatever we want when we're friends! Alari rolled onto her stomach then sat up again.
