Eris lay on a sand dune, sprawled out lazily. The wind ruffled his fur, showing hints of his green undercoat. In a way, he looked like a white granite stone with specks of green. His black hind legs were half-buried in the sand, with his tail poking out. He yawned. The ground was wavering around him from the constant beatings of the sun. He could withstand extreme heat because of his fire element. He had learned that he had this element when he was.....
Eris sat up, sending grains of sand tumbling down the dune. When did he learn that? He shook his head as if he was trying to get rid of a bothersome bug. Damn! Another memory, gone! How much did he forget- how did he forget? Eris pounded his foot against the sand in anger. The last thing he remembered was waking up on a rock. He had no idea how he had got there. He also remembered someone saying, "Good luck, runt. You''ll need it in hell." Who had said that, and why? He also remembered waking up on the rock with a searing pain in his side. He touched his scar absentmindly. He should have died from that. How did he survive?
Erin dreaded the day he might meet another wolf. What could he say? He could't tell anyone about himself, or even his name. My name! How could he forget the one thing that is essential for every wolf to contact others? He barked in frustration and hit his head against the sand. Life was supposed to be like a gyroscope, one event revolving around another, remembered by the one who set it spinning. His life was like a gyroscope going backwards, suddenly stopping whenever it hits a forgotten memory.
He stopped and rested his head against the sand. He needed a name, any name. But what?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
[bg=black]A tan and green speck formed on the horizon as the background surrounding the wolf rippled from the illusion of the desert heat rays. As the colored dot got closer to the middle of the desert, it appeared as a large wolf with long saber fangs and massive curled horns. A strong and powerful yagi with a long slender forest colored tail wavering in the winds.
His head was low and his body was tense as he took cautious steps in the familiar sandy texture. The wolf sighed inwardly as he continued to travel the burning sands. There was no clear expression on his face, his body just continued to move on it's own like a robot with a clear function of how muscles and bone worked.
The yagi paused as he sniffed the air. He felt his stomach churn, when was the last time he ate since that event? Almost over a week now. Which, when you were a wolf, you ate at least once ever two or three days. When would he snap out of it and decide to hunt for himself? The large yet skinny wolf sat in the sands as he stopped before another in the distance.
He stared at the other wolf, barely in earshot. Should he bother talking to anyone? Meeting anyone new? Making anymore friends? He was a cold blooded killer, he couldn't have friends... much less acquaintances. His true self would deny this and try to look on the bright side, he could start fresh, and he didn't do it in cold blood. It was an accident.
Still, he stood dumbfounded at the other wolf, lost in his own thoughts. All he could hear was silence, and the her screams in his head.

Eris picked up his head as he caught sight of something glinting in the sunlight. He walked over to it, dark grey paws sinking into the sand. It was some kind of metal stone, the kind used to decorate dens. It had a carving of a spiraling thorn vine etched into it's surface. Eris picked it up, careful to pull his lips away from the surface to avoid being burned. Although he was a fire elemental, he could still be burned on the inside of his mouth from the sun-heated stone. As he raised his head, he noticed a different scent lacing the wind.
He walked forward a few steps, and saw that there was another wolf, not too far away. "Hullo." He said, forgetting the stone. He yelped as he felt the stone sear his lips and tongue, and dropped the rock. The rock went tumbling down the dune, kicking up trails of sand as it went. "Great." Eris muttered, wincing as he was reminded of his burn.
He chased the rock down and found it rolling to a stop next to the other wolf. He stopped, unsure of what to say. Dirt had been scraped off of the stone, and in the light Eris could see that the thorn vine was actually multicolored, like the oil from a raven's feather. That made him want it even more, but first he had to address the wolf in front of him. He stood stock-still, rooted to the ground. He was frozen.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
[bg=black]The male yagi was tempted to turn around and pretend he didn't see the other wolf. He wasn't ready yet, to try again. His mind told the yagi it went against everything he stood for. The wind blew his scent behind him with his forest green pelt moving vigorously behind him as he took a few steps from a dune the other wolf rested upon.
Then he paused and turned around. A small shiny stone of some sort resting at the ball of one of his hind legs. "Hmmm?" he slowly glanced up towards the other wolf approaching him as he simply turned his back on the other wolf and let the stone fall into the sand as he continued to walk in the opposite direction. He felt his chest heave as he felt his throat vibrate.
It was weird to actually speak now, before he didn't even need to say a word. He just knew that before, he didn't need to bother opening his mouth. And now, he simply didn't want to even if he could and needed to. Maybe he could just pretend he was mute? Yeah, that would be funny, wouldn't it?
The yagi did a full body stretch as he yawned, he had been traveling non-stop, as if something or someone was chasing him and would catch him if he stopped. At any rate he would starve or collapse within a day or two if he kept it up. Maybe fate would spare him the tragedy this time and have it quickly done with.
He was nothing without her, too bad she was everything without him. And now she was simply gone.

"Hmmm?" Was all the Yagi said. It made Eris slightly mad, but besides that, he was relived. If he had asked his name, that would have been too much for the white wolf. Instead of asking the green Yagi's name, he simply wagged his blue tail and dipped his head."I'm sorry, but could you please roll that back?" Eris flicked his ear to indicate the stone. The hot sand felt good against his paw pads. In fact, it seemed to give him energy. Like the surge of energy that he felt when he was a pup. That's when he remembered. I discovered my element when I was a pup! Eris longed to remember more, but it seemed that the memory was too blurry to see. Instead he heard. Lightning. A scream. Blood. A growl. The scent of smoke.... Eris didn't know what happened after that. The memory faded away, just out of his grip. It seemed that it was teasing him, tempting him to throw himself into the abyss where it was.
Eris raised his head. He felt anger, but it soon got replaced by curiosity. That wolf had horns. He knew that he should probably go, but that didn't stop the curiosity. "Do your horns fall off in the spring, like a deer's?"
|
Eris immediately regretted what he said. Such a stupid question! But it fascinated him. A wolf with horns! So odd! Eris braced himself for the Yagi's anger to hit him. Forgotten pasts can't work as an excuse here! He braced himself for the lecture. [/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
[bg=black]Instead of lashing out or snarling at the other wolf for such a silly question. He merely humored him and gave him a soft reply. His voice ridged and hoarse.
"No." His amber eyes showed guilt as if he had broken a promise by easily breaking his idea of permanently staying silent the rest of his life. Guess when you have to speak, speak. But to what extent did he owe this wolf his voice? None. So why answer a question he didn't need to answer.
Crow kicked the stone towards the other wolf with one of his hind legs as he felt his neck and head try to hide in his shoulders. He continued to try and go unnoticed. The last thing a murderer needed was attention brought to himself.
But then again...
You're not a murderer.. it wasn't you're fault. It was an accident.. He told himself.
But you could've stopped it! You didn't! You wanted her to die, didn't you? If you couldn't have her... no one could. Could they?
No! That wasn't the reason! She had no reason to live a lie! His voices getting stronger.
Then why do you have to live a lie and she gets to die peacefully?
"I don't know!" Crow cried out loud, then he paused, realizing he had just voiced his own thought. That he was not fighting with himself on the inside. Why hide it? He should just run, run away. That's all you can do now Crow... run away from everything.
