He had been back in the pack for quite some time now, and this surely wasn't what he had expected.
When he had gone looking for Evelyn, he wasn't sure exactly what he was searching for or where he would find them, only certain that he was searching. At the time he didn't have his memory back. Not that he has it all back now, either. There are some things that he may never remember. Those may forever be forced into a virtual nonexistence.
Kainashi sighed. Being the lumen he was, he had the light bent around him in a way that made his appearance seem like a solid white wolf except for his blue paws, tipped ears, and patch around his eyes. He scanned the horizon with pale pink eyes for any intruders within the territory. That was basically what he did all day.
He probably should be somewhere helping the king or queen, but he simply didn't have the will, and as far as he remembered, they hadn't gotten on to him for not helping constantly. His mind was focused elsewhere, fogged by loneliness and forgetfulness. He wondered constantly where his mate had gone, what she was doing, what she was thinking, and what had happened to their puppies. They had had puppies, right?
Sadly, when he had lost his memory, one of the memories had been that him and Evelyn's mating was not successful. He rolled around on the dirt floor, turning his white pelt a dusty light brown in some places. His paws stuck up in the air, as he lied belly-up on the ground. His head lolled to one side. He wanted to know his past, and even his future. He still loved Evelyn, and was sure that he would never stop. He knew that he had hurt her, and wanted desperately somehow to make it right.
Were they still mates? Really? He had no idea of knowing, honestly, but he simply assumed. Neither of them had said anything about it last time they saw each other. He didn't want to lose her, but if she so chose so, he couldn't stop her.
She seemed happy to have him back the last time he had seen her, so maybe she was off on some mission for the queen. Or had her feelings toward him simply changed? Not that Kainashi would blame her. It was better than when he had first came back, at least.

What had happened? Her mind was fogged horribly from the pain that proceeded to eat away at her body. She was unsure as to why everything had gone so black all of a sudden... No, she had not injured herself or gotten lost. Well, perhaps she was lost, in some form. She remembered how busy she was attempting to keep the pack at its high state that it was in, but it was hard to do. It pained her to know that she had neglected certain things and that those certain things would possibly leave her heart forever. That was not something she wanted, as it would break her.
Evelyn had a hard enough time making sure she could trust her love before opening up to him fully, but now...had she really lost him? How much could she do before she actually lost one of the two things in this world that she truly, truly adored? Kainashi was one of those things and Keinvarii was another, but Kainashi was her mate...her love... As she found herself stuck between the roots of the trees, she felt her heart twinge with pain every time she thought of him. It was not because of him that she felt this way, but for the loss she had suffered when he had disappeared. The pups were never born, they had been a miscarriage, a sadness that she carried at all times.
The Lumen sighed, her pelt emanating a soft shade of blue, though there were patches of pinkish-red dancing upon it, much like the poppies from their old territory. She got to her feet and forced herself to walk about for awhile, only to find herself staring at the one thing that made her heart ache at all times. Not in a bad way, though, not at all. Kainashi rolled in the dirt, causing her to smile wide. Oh, how she loved him so much, and how it hurt her that she had not told him of the failed mating. He seemed to desperately want the puppies, but it was something she had found herself unable to give him. Countless amounts of time had passed and she found herself almost alone, but she still had him and she knew it.
Evelyn padded closer to him, sitting upon her haunches and hanging her head. "Dead". That was all she stated. If she was going to tell him about the pups, then she needed to do it soon.

A Lumen sat there, with blue fur mixed with poppy-like patches. He inhaled her scent, something he had been sure to do since the memory of mating with that impostor had returned to him.
He smiled as he stared his mate in the eyes. He was sure it was her this time. No longer could his mind play tricks on him. All the evidence was there . . She was there. "Where have you been?" he asked playfully.
A smile that appeared on his maw vanished as he attempted to understand her statement. Dead? "Ev," he mumbled slowly, "what do you mean?"
He tried not to jump to conclusions until he could hear her answer, but she seemed so pained, so tense. Our relationship? he thought. Surely he was being silly and there was something else she meant to say.
Then again, he couldn't shake the thought from his mind. Was this the end? Had she decided to leave him? What had he done?
Everything, stupid, he heard. His ears folded back against his skull. He knew he had done nearly everything a mate shouldn't do. He was deeply and truly sorry for what had happened. It wasn't as if he had planned it, though.
