Mabelle found herself wandering off, like always. Just a few well-rehearsed lies and a convincingly innocent nod in agreement to stay in boundary and she was on her way. She wandered further and further, past the Ratten Forest where she’d met Caspian the half-fish. She only walked through more and more trees; she wondered how the poor water-dweller even made it so far inland! The trees began to stand few and far between—this was new. Mabelle dipped her head down to sniff around for the newest in these parts. Everything still smelled of her pack, so she wasn’t exactly out of territory quite yet (much to her disappointment). The half-truck of a fallen tree flew past her peripheral vision and she looked up curiously. Where was she standing now? There were no trees—there was a small border of them surrounding the general area, but none growing where she was planted. The grass was yellowing here. Large rocks and small stones littered the area. Dropping her muzzle to scour for scents, Mabelle found nothing unfamiliar. That meant there wasn’t life underground, like she was expecting. She dug into the drying earth, tearing at roots and yipping at the thousand-legged crawlers that ran by her. There really was nothing here. The yearling huffed (causing a swell breeze, actually) at sat back on her haunches. Her adventurous spirit seemed stamped out at that moment. ____________________________________ WORD COUNT: 233THEME SONG: “Not In Love,” by Crystal CastlesOOC: Sorry for the short post; whoever replies is promised a much longer reply!

Set before my other posts because i like the time to make sense.
Leo padded along, keeping to the shadows. His eyes were fixed on the ground, rather than glancing around warily like usual. Frankly, he didn’t care if he got attacked. He deserved it anyway. He let out a puff of breath, flames exploding out of him in anger. He paused, watching them dance in front of him. He sighed, and pulled the fire back within himself. He thought of Nepara, not for the first time since he had left. He supposed he should head to the swamp. Although what he would do that he had no idea. But it was best to have a destination in mind. He sunk back into the shadows, controlling them with his new found power. He glanced down at himself, merged with the shadows. He hesitated. There weren’t a lot of shadows here, so remaining invisible would be difficult. His tail twitched, annoyed with himself. Earlier he hadn’t care if he was spotted, and now he did. He growled, exploding from the shadows and into the light, becoming visible to the world once more. He sniffed the air, a scent washing over him. He turned, spotting a young wolf sitting, looking disappointed. Looking at her, he couldn’t help the image of his sister coming to mind. Sisters. His teeth clenched together. It was hard enough when he was responsible for the death of one sister, let alone two. And another sister left grieving, along with his father and brother. Fire ignited his pelt. He was angry. Full of rage. And he wanted a wolf he could attack. Not a pup. He couldn’t attack a pup. Why was a pup here anyway? The question calmed him slightly, as he looked at the young wolf quizzically. “You’re a bit far from home, aren’t you?”

Mabelle was considering heading back. After her initial plans of discovery were squashed by her stumbling upon of this bare place, she figured she might well call it a day. As she moved to begin the trek back to base, she was distracted by the falling leaves the flitted by. She began to work the air and make them dance. Mabelle pushed the currents through breaks in rocks and trees, creating a whistling sound. She eventually figured out a simple, little three-note song through trial and error, and made her colorful leaves dance around her in small cricles. She didn’t like her wind power very much, but moments like this provided her with enough amusement to make her practice it enough so that her elemental wasn’t completely lost on her. Mabelle did get bored after some time. She dragged her leaves through the sky, letting them fall at the opposite end of the clearing. She brought the wind back towards her, weaving it through her fur, giggling. But the air returned to her with a strange smell. Burning. Wolf. She cut the usage of her power short, crouching down. She could see the approaching wolf’s figure coming closer. Red flared up from its back. If there was one thing about her power she was grateful for, it was the fact that wind carried scents. And she could control it. She breathed in deep and tilted her head back, bringing the stranger’s scent down towards her, and keeping hers away. Or so she thought. The wolf came closer and settled its gaze onto her. She noticed that his fur was not on fire, like she’d seen earlier. Maybe she imagined it? No, she was sure he’d been sporting flames! She stared at him for qhat seemed a long time. “Hello—"Suddenly, the dark wolf was ablaze, his eyes seeming distant. Mabelle straightened up, taking a fearful few steps back, her tail tucked under her. “You’re a bit far from home, aren’t you?”Mabelle wasn’t sure what to make of the question. The older Lupus was still on fire, so she couldn’t tell if this was a precursor to an impending attack, or if the question was genuine. She chose to answer it. “I am not.” She stated clearly, backing her forepaws towards her hind feet to even out her startled stance. “This is still Enclave territory.” She was of two halves in that very moment: scared for her life in the presence of this unknown other, and full of pride, completely giddy inside to be of pack blood and able to claim such land. His ear twitched. Normally he would have taken a step back, noticing her distress. After all, she was under half his age. But he was hardly in the mood for politeness. He did however calm his fire, and pulled it inside of him, where it bubbled beneath him. He snorted at her reply. Why did pups always have an answer to everything? He thought back to when he was a pup. Had he been like that? Probably. “Still pretty far for a pup,” He responded, pushing the thought from his mind, he turned his attention back to the pup. He could tell that adrenaline was pumping through her, making her both scared, and excited. It was a familiar feeling, and for a moment he envied her. Then, he realised that showing fear when faced with a possible enemy was foolish. Logic always came first in situations like this. A small part of him whispered that she was just a pup, but he couldn’t hear it amongst the other thoughts in his head. “I go where I please.” He muttered, glaring at her. She was in no position to threaten him, and he wanted to make that clear, even if she was just a pup, it was best she understood when you were at a disadvantage. Hmm, like you did when you decided to challenge Scorch? The part of him that had whispered before spoke up. That was different, I had no choice. It was the most logical thing to do. “And stop acting so scared. I have enough pride and honour to not attack a pup, no matter what you may think of loners” He added, tail lashing. Why was he the only one that used logic in this ridiculous world!? His tail lashed again, and his power began to pulse through him, to the point that he had to control it, to prevent it from escaping.

The air was crisp as fall was in full swing. A pale lupus moved at an easy trot near the border of the pack. He was feeling pretty confident with his advancements in his power. However t he changing weather made finding vines a little more difficult. Yes, he could manipulate basic plants, but he wanted to wield vines as an end goal. He had been secretly sneaking out of the pack lands with his half sister time and again to train with Luparia. However they had to come back now and then or else they would be missed. He was actually on a mission to find her and head out within the next few days again. They had taken care not to tell any of their other siblings. So when he caught the scent of Mabelle on the wind he grew curious. What was she doing without an escort this close to the borders?
His nose caught wind of another wolf. Though the pack scent was not on this one. His bristled at the scent of an intruder and turned abruptly into the direction of his sister and the stranger. He was determined to uphold the pack laws as much as he could, he was determined to prove himself and out rank Ahote's sons once he was experienced enough. He trotted towards the other two, now seeing a dark lupus talking to his sister. To be fair, he was only really close to Luparia, but at the moment it was the principle of the matter. She was without an escort, ad she was with a loner. He wasn't about to have his family give him a bad name in Ahote's gaze.
"Belle! What are you doing out here?" The mossy green eyes of the young lupus barely even glanced over the older lupus. He stride up confidently and stood tall next to his sister, eyes narrowing inquisitively. She knew the rules. Though he was not about to list them off to her in front of a stranger. He nipped Mabelle gently in a half greeting on the neck before turning to face the intruder. "You realize you are trespassing on pack territory, don't you?" He kept his tail higher and his head up to show his confidence. The green tendrils on his legs seemed to pulse lightly. In his eyes pack wolves were better than loners, more capable of surviving.

“Still pretty far for a pup.”Mabelle cocked her head to the side in response to this stranger’s assumption of her age. She was no pup! She was gaining seasons, enough to travel more than the distance allotted for pup! She watched as he seemed to look around, gauging maybe the land he’d gone through to arrive at this point. He replied to her territorial warning with a comment on his perceived immunity. “That’s a foolish privilege to give yourself, you know.” Mabelle would never say such a thing in a land that was not her own, especially with a full pack just a call or so away. But all this thinking was bluff for the fear that sat in the pit of her stomach. This loner reminded Mabelle of the desperate, hungry animals she’d seen in the winter sometimes. They sacrificed their hibernation time in search for food or safer shelter. They were hardened and fearless, willing to do anything to survive. This fiery wolf did not appear as lowly, but he roamed just like the aforementioned creatures: fearless and direct. He calmed her, somewhat, and claimed he would not attack a pup out of pride and honor. Mabelle took this opportunity to calm herself and straighten up, despite the fact her true feelings were quite readable. She took a brave stance yet again and parted her jaws to address the loner again, when a more than familiar voice made her turn. “Belle! What are you doing out here?”Olyvar came walking briskly towards the two, his eyes on Mabelle. Though she didn’t see too much of Olyvar, a sibling was a sibling. And words from one could get her restricted to marked grounds; that was the last thing she wanted. Mabelle watched the pale wolf step to her side. “I caught this loner’s scent in the air…” Well, it wasn’t a complete lie. Olyvar gave a reserved nip on the neck, and when he straightened up she touched her muzzle to his. “You realize you are trespassing on pack territory, don’t you?”Mabelle’s eyes narrowed as she recounted the stranger’s words when she asked the same question. “He says he is free to go as he pleases, Olyvar.” She was handing the situation over to her brother now. Truthfully, she was glad he’d interfered. The loner was scaring her in a way she could not pinpoint, and having her brother there did a lot for her nerves. She sat back onto her haunches, her eyes flickering to small details in the scene. The weeding grass of the clearing was reaching for Olyvar, their thin forms like bending arms. She wasn’t sure if he was doing it on purpose or if the leaning was a kind of side effect of his earthy power. She silently produced a small breeze to right them up, but they again moved for Olyvar when she relinquished her control of the air. _________________________________________ WORD COUNT: 488THEME SONG: “Not In Love,” by Crystal CastlesOOC: Thank you for bringing Olyvar! <3

Leo tilted his head slightly, observing the new comer with interest. He should be cautious; this male seemed a lot more headstrong, although he was still certain he could take them both, although he doubt the female would be much hassle. They could still call the pack though, but even then, he could easily escape. He smiled to himself. Sometimes it was useful to have the power to disappear. His expression darkened, thinking back to the time he had gained the power, and what a cruel twist of fate it had seemed. It was useful, but it wasn’t what he had needed to bring his sisters back, and that felt like a betrayal to him, although he had no one to blame but himself. He noticed that the male, Olyvar seemed like the dominant of the two, and decided to turn his attention towards him. Belle didn’t seem like a threat, but he still kept one eye on her, just in case. He snorted at the question, feeling a bit annoyed that Belle answered for him. He had been to these pack lands before, he had trespassed many times. He had trespassed on the mafia lands and fought Scorch. A couple of wolves were nothing but a nuisance to him. He was getting arrogant, a small voice reminded him. Good. He had been arrogant before, and it had served him well, maybe it would again. “These are Aurelian Enclave lands, I have been here before” He responded, sending a quick glance to Belle, a clear sign that he could answer for himself. That was a half truth. The majority of the time he had come here, no one had known he was here, except for a few occasions, but he had never purposely contacted the pack. He hadn’t felt a need. From what he heard they weren’t a threat to any wolf. In fact, it was weird seeing Olyvar seeming so brave, when he had always regarded the Enclave to be a pack full of cowards. Best that he not say that out loud though. He may be arrogant, but he wasn’t stupid.

If Olyvar had any intentions of becoming one of the leaders of this pack he needed to be able to get rid of unwanted vermin. His tail wavered slightly in the breeze, he was usually hot headed, but this was the first time in a while he was up against a loner. The last few had not ended well, however these encounters were with lumen before his power had manifested. The line between over confidence and rationality was always smudged with him.
His mossy green eyes gave the older lupus a cold stare. As his sister's words hit him, he snorted his disdain at the other male before him. "No loner is allowed that privilege in our pack lands." A few rogues, yes, despite his personal thoughts, but he did not need to say that out loud. The point of the matter was that this lupus was not welcome in the pack lands. For once he figured he should be responsible . "Belle. Sound the alarm. We have an intruder to deal with."
He stepped forward, lowering his head with a low growl of warning. He put himself between his sister and the loner, allowing her a moment to howl to the rest of the pack. A pack was strong in numbers, they would chase the wolf out or hunt him down in the process. Winter was coming so they could not afford to risk themselves when the pack would be more effective.

Mabelle has honestly lost interest in trying to intimidate the loner when Olyvar stepped in. It was on him, from that point, to get rid of him. Her bright eyes searched out, away from the other two wolves, searching for a scene, searching for something new, searching for something pretty. She let her mind wander and she began to imagine herself just drifting, out of her body, starting out a new adventure. She went past the Taiga, way past the Taiga actually; she thought she saw the canyons the Elders talked about. Dragons and gryphons fought in the skies over food. She kept going and going until she met the sea. It sparkled with radiance borrowed from the sun. The waves danced happily in her presence. This was what she was looking for. The surface of the water rippled, and the furred tips of two pointed ears poked out. Upon closer inspection, Mabelle could make out a wolf’s body rising from the water— “Belle.”"Oh, yes?" The young wolf was quickly back in her body, standing in the middle of a clearing, staring out intot he distance longingly. She looked to her brother, whose words had brought her back. “Sound the alarm. We have an intruder to deal with.”In the few short moments Mabelle had before she started howling, her heart began to race. This had escalated, faster and quicker than she’d thought it would. She had expected her brother to turn this stranger on his way, to rid of him without conflict. But as Olyvar placed himself between herself and the intruder, she realized she’d probably underestimated the loner’s intentions. She didn’t want a battle, or even a trial, but if Olyvar felt it was necessary…then she must. Lifting her head, she howled. She thought of every space and den and area and made enough noise to fill it. Filled it with an alarm, a potential battle call, a cry of danger. The howl seemed to erupt inside of her heart, tracing itself with bloodlines and importance and a history that spanned time. As she lowered her head, Mabelle had no fear her pack would come. She knew they would. _________________________________________ WORD COUNT: 360THEME SONG: “Not In Love,” by Crystal CastlesOOC: Sorry for disappearing like that! Leo growled, his previous pent-up frustration quickly turning to blind rage. His muscles tensed beneath his pelt, and his tail whipped violently. These wolves had chosen the wrong time to mess with him. He was out for blood, and he had little concern for any consequences. A wall of fire exploded out of him, scorching the land in front of him. He noticed how the flames seemed to dance in rhythm to his heartbeat. They had taken on a blood red colour, as if to match his emotions. The grass was turning to a crisp. The flames were attacking, harming the environment, rather than just existing harmlessly. He pushed the wall of flame towards the wolves momentarily blinding them. He used this too his advantage and disappeared into the shadows, eyes narrowed. They could not see him now. They would be able to scent him but that would do them no good. He stalked around, so he was behind them. He crouched, preparing the jump perfectly. He was pretty much invisible, he could take his time. When he was sure of his move, he leapt, pushing off with powerful hind legs, and aimed his teeth for the back of the male’s neck.

His sister raised the alarm. Olyvar had expected the wolf to just curse at them and leave before reinforcements arrived. When the fire exploded in front of him, he himself cursed under his breath and took half a step back. He glanced over his shoulder Belle, quickly trying to think what to do. He was not that attached to his sister to be honest, however she was a female of the pack and it was his job to protect the females.
The fire seemed to be advancing, he did not think running straight back away from it seemed to be the greatest plan. Instead he jumped back to Mabelle shoving her unceremoniously to the side, "Get away from the fire!. He tried to usher her quickly, moving out of the fire's way. He did not expect the loner to be hanging around. To use that much force of fire would take a lot of energy, so maybe it was just a diversion to escape.
Once they were out of the path of the fire, only then did he feel more eyes on him. He was parallel to the blaze now and out of the corner of his eye he saw the other lupus leap. Not having a lot of time to react, he ducked, hitting his stomach hard in an attempt to dodge the larger male. Or at least avoid a deadly blow. He braced for impact. Needed to quickly get on the defensive, he pulsed energy through his body, the grasses around him seemed to attempt to pull toward him, Those on the long runners began lifting roots and slithering like live snakes around him. Not quite vines, but he hoped they would do.
He really hoped that other wolves would soon be joining him. Two, two year old lupus not quite full in their power against an older, very angry loner. They could probably hold their own for a while, but unless the other lupus kept burning that much energy, it would not be for long.
