Ahote had settled the small brood in nicely, and Rhiannon found herself in a comfortable part of the the tree, surrounded by a few furs which helped warm the chill of the taiga. Her own pups had found new playmates in Ahote's own, and she was quite enjoying herself. It was kind of like a vacation; albeit an unfortunately begun one, but it was nice to not have to worry about everything for once. She set her head down on the ground, snuggling her body close to keep herself warm.
It was just early morning, and she was under the impression that her children had spent the night with Ahote's. She wasn't too worried about them here, there wasn't too much they could do. Besides they were easy to pick out of a crowd. Her bushy tail found its way over her nose as she peered around with huge hazel eyes. The pups were barely pups anymore now anyways. At almost two years each, they'd soon be able to go off on their own to do things. She felt an immense sense of pride when she looked on them, at how much they had grown and learned. She had successfully raised a litter, and she had done the majority of it on her own. She only hoped they would learn from their cousins and become the wonderful wolves she knew they'd be.
With that thought, she pushed herself from the ground, stretching for a moment, and grabbing the left over rabbit which lay at the ground before her. Miseria had managed to spook it out of its hole earlier, allowing Zanzibar to catch it. Proudly they had brought it to her, and they had shared the small rabbit. She snapped off a rib, and began chewing on it, sucking out the marrow from it.

Derume wasn't a pup any longer. In the short months he'd been alive, the bumblebee Myou had grown in size - height and weight, length and width. His shoulders were broader, giving him a little bit of an intimidating appearance. That was hard, considering the Myou would only end up being a little taller than two feet. His paws were larger than most pup's tended to be, making him clumsier than others as well. Including his siblings. His pelt was much fluffier than it had been when he was a pup, his overcoat and undercoat soft to the touch.
Overall, Derume was growing up to be a small and charming young adult. He already knew how to hunt fairly well and when to act serious - even when seriousness could be traded off for playfulness. He knew his boundaries with his cousins and his uncle, having established them nearly the moment of arrival. He knew when to push other wolves for something and when to leave well enough alone. He was improving as a leader, showing his mother and all the other members of the Cadre that he was capable to lead the pack in a strong manner while still being a little fun at times. Derume was becoming an adult.
That, however, didn't mean that he had to necessarily act like one right now.
Alternating colors of black and yellow shot through the forest as his slender legs carried him toward the grand tree where most females were housed, his tongue hanging out of his mouth. Flecks of saliva splattered the ground as he moved, jumping over fallen logs with grace most wolves couldn't have, their bulky weight carrying them down rather than forward. Glossy, translucent wings fluttered behind him with an incessant buzz. His black ears twitched forward, amber orbs narrowing on his destination as he rounded a corner a little too sharply. All at once, his legs gave out beneath him; with a terrified yelp, he crashed sideways onto the ground. This didn't stop him.
Once the shock had worn off, Derume jumped to his feet and was running again - one entire side of his body caked in mud. He had to keep moving, had to keep going fast or else his cousins would catch him! And that wasn't something he was going to let happen. After all, he was the king at hide-and-seek, and he wasn't going to let them tell Miseria any different!
His panting was ragged, wracking his entire frame as he weaved through the trees in search of where his mother would be. Black nostrils flared with every breath, condensation dripping from his nose as he slowed to gather his bearings. Where was he? Around him, there was nothing but tree after tree. He was surrounded in a place he knew nothing of - his heart sunk with the realization that maybe this would be where his rule as Hide-and-Seek king ended. Was his crown going to be taken from him because he didn't know where he was? Or was he going to persevere?
The wolf's response was in the form of a snort, followed by the thundering of his paws as he moved to crash through the forest and find his mother.
After what felt like forever, Derume finally found the tree. It was big. He'd give it that. But it didn't intimidate him. If his mother was inside along with many other females, then he too could look at the carved structure with awe instead of fear and move inside it. The space felt cramped to him, his muscles twitching with the desire to run back around outside, but he continued forward. This tree wouldn't scare him. Not Derume, heir to Styrrstdar Cadre. Not Derume, son of Fortissimo and Rhiannon. No. Never Derume.
He gave an impatient bark as he sniffed his way through the tree, nose dropped to the ground in search of her scent.

[[ I apologise profusely for the very long wait. ;n; ]]
It was hard to think of her latest brood as anything but her babies. She was their sole caregiver, even when they had been small. Rhiannon felt strongly attached to each pup, never wanting to see them leave... at least not for too long. It was too close to her heart to have her pups leave. Even still she knew they would need to eventually part and go their own ways. Such things could not be avoided... but delayed worked as well.
Each of them had their own talents, Miseria though shy, was fantastic at working with the earth and was quite quick. Derume was a born leader, and she couldn't help but see herself in him. Despite the difference in appearance he had many of her own qualities, at least to the alphess. The last pup was the oddball, but even still Zanzibar found himself a niche with his siblings, helping them out and blindly following them through any conquest. She was happy to see how well they got along; she could only imagine having a brood which wished to have nothing to do with the other.
So whilst sucking the marrow from the bone she flopped onto one side, her tail lazily flicking in the rays of sunlight. The pups were off, and she knew it was time to let go, even if just for a while. Here, in the taiga, there was nothing that could harm them. Ahote would surely see to that, making sure their stay was comfortable and pleasant. But short reveries never go uninterrupted and soon a familiar smell wafted through her nose. What was Derume doing back so early? She was higher than the other females, not at all put off by the height of the tree. With the carved out hollow inside it made it easy for her to bounce her way to the top. She poked her head out of the small cosy area she had made herself.
The first thing she noticed was that her son was covered in mud. With a small snort, she pushed her body from the ground. "Derume," she called out, hearing him bark as he searched for her. She had forgotten that they rarely came to this tree, except Miseria. She shook out her body, sliding from her den and then onto a firm branch. She bounded down with ease, figuring out where the solid branches were days before. It was just like the canyon to her, just more... earthy.
"You're covered in mud," she said with a bit of disapproval, her paws kneading the soft ground as she neared him. The light wasn't fantastic, but near the entrance the sun beat down and flooded the tree with light. "Did someone push you? You're okay?" Any initial disapproval was now replaced with worry, hoping that he was okay. So far she hadn't seen any sort of rivalry between her pups and their cousins, but that wasn't to say a fight couldn't have broken out. She reached out her nose to touch him gently.

OOC;; Sorry about my delayed post. ;_; I'm afraid life has been catching up with me. And not only that, but it's not even that long. I apologize. D:
BIC;; "Mother!" The exclamation was a little deeper than a male pup's would be at what age Derume seemed - the tenor tone fell from his lips like honey, and he dropped onto his front paws playfully, wagging his tail. Even for a wolf nearing young adult age, the bumblebee Myou was more than playful enough. "I've been looking for you! Quick, I must find a place to hide!"
He, after all, couldn't be found. If his cousins found him, his reign would end... and Miseria would probably take over as queen of hide-and-seek. The thought made his black ears droop a little, his wings buzzing a bit before shifting to a silent hum.
"They're out to find me, and if I don't hide soon, they'll catch me! And then I'll lose! Mother, where should I hide?" If he hid with her, would they find him? Would they know exactly where he was if he crawled into Rhia's little home at the top of the tree? Could Derume even climb up there? He lifted his head thoughtfully, amber orbs surveying the branches as he thought. Possibly... could he jump up to the first branch?
Finally, his mother's words caught up to him - had he been pushed? "No no," he said, "I kinda fell... I ran a little bit too fast around a corner and fell onto my side. But I'm okay! I just need to hide really quick. Otherwise they'll catch me." His cousins? Trying to fight with him? Nah, Derume was too strong. They wouldn't dare pick a fight with him! The Myou bent his head around to his side, nuzzling at some of the dirt. "It'll all come out when I take my bath in a couple days."
