G E N E R A L
Name: Gotham Alias: Species: Sennyo Gender: Male Age: 92 or so...he forgets
Pack: Hellion Mafia Rank: Associate
P H Y S I C A L
Height: 47" Weight: 26 lbs
Appearance: Gotham’s pelt is dark in color. His pelt full of dark browns and dark grays. There are patches of fur with white tips that counteract the completely dark look. That and the fact that he has butterfly wing. His wings are those of the “banded purple wing butterfly” although they are far more blue than purple (see image reference). The antenna on his head are black, but when they catch the light just right they have a purple sheen to them. His eyes are almond shaped and navy in color. Besides his Sennyo butterfly characteristics he is rather unremarkable, however, being what he is, if you see him you will probably think that you will never forget him. This suits his purposes well.

Strengths: Stealth – has nearly mastered the art of not being seen (as much as someone who cannot become invisible can). His small paws make it easier to move without detectable sounds, especially to those who are used to much heavier wolves who make more noise due to their greater size. Able information gatherer – he has learned a lot over the years about who to approach to get what he needs and how to approach them. He can be very persuasive when he applies himself.
Weaknesses: Horrible Memory – As a side effect of the long term use of his memory manipulation power he has a very spotty memory of his past. He also tends to forget meeting others, and even using his powers on them after a time. He does however, have a keen memory of faces. It seems that those are never fully wiped away by his powers. He will know that he knew a certain wolf but will have no idea how or why he knows them. Disconnected – Since he knows that he is losing his own memories by this point he doesn’t see any reason to try to get close to anyone. He will just forget them anyway. He takes on jobs as a spy for whatever group catches his eye at the moment. He does it as much out of boredom as for loyalty or principal. Sometimes he does honestly wish to help a group, but he never plans to stay with them for long (since he still thinks he is looking for his family). Depressed – suffers from bouts of deep depression when he dwells on his broken memories.
Personality: Gotham has forgotten more about his life than most wolves will ever live. Gotham was never the touchy feely type, but his family seemed like it would soften him up some. Instead, when they were gone, Gotham’s heart hardened. This is why he is able to do his job as a spy effectively. He doesn’t care about most of the petty squabbles of others. However, he is not completely cold hearted, and he does have a line he will not cross. His true loyalty is always to himself.
As his own memories fade he realizes how important an individual’s memories are. He has becomes rather depressed when he thinks about how much of himself he has lost. And by this point he doesn’t really have much hope that he will ever regain his memories. He takes to brooding alone during these times.
History: Many years ago, Gotham was a member of a small but thriving pack of Sennyos. He had been in no hurry to mate, given his long life span there had been no urgency to it for him. Around the age of 70 he finally settled down with a beautiful female who gave birth to a litter of five pups. One day he went out hunting for his new family, and when he returned the area was ablaze with wildfire. His mate would not leave her children to die in the fire alone and stayed with them. He could swear that he could hear their cries as they died.
Haunted by the memories he wandered in a daze. He consulted a friend who had the gift of foretelling. His friend told him that the Great Spirit would help him deal with his pain. He was doubtful as he wasn’t sure he believed in the Great Spirit anymore.
He left his home and traveled for a while, hoping to find something to ease his pain. Unfortunately he wandered into a disputed territory that two packs were feuding over. He met with a very large and very untrusting Yagi. The Yagi was convinced that he was a spy sent from the other pack. Gotham tried his best to convince the Yagi otherwise, but it was all to no avail. The Yagi prepared to attack and Gotham took one final look into his eyes. And then something very strange happened. When their eyes met Gotham could see far more than his reflection in the Yagi’s eyes. He could see and feel inside of him. Confused, he “looked” around. He could see the Yagi’s tail docking as a pup. He could see a hunt with many other strong wolves. He could see a fight for the affection of a female. And then he saw himself, as seen through the Yagi’s eyes. Scared and anxious he found himself wishing he had never met this other wolf. And just like that the memory faded away.
He shook his head suddenly and found himself back in front of the Yagi. The other wolf was staring blankly ahead as though in a trace. Gotham heard noise from nearby and hid. The Yagi’s pack mates approached him. At first he didn’t respond, but with a slight nudge his consciousness seemed to come back to him. When asked what he had been doing there alone the Yagi could only say that he had been patrolling and had nothing to report. The memory of Gotham was truly gone.
At first, Gotham did not wish to use this new found power. It frightened him to have power over other’s memories. But he met three others on his way through that disputed territory and each time Gotham wiped the other’s memory of himself. And then he realized that he had the perfect ability to really be a spy. So he began to work for wolf packs in exchange for passage through their lands. He never revealed how he got his information and whenever he got bored with a pack he would wipe the pack’s memories of him and head on to a new pack.
After about 15 years of this he realized that something was wrong. Thinking back on his past, something he usually tried to avoid, he realized that there were gaps in his memory. He remembered a friend telling him that the Great Spirit would help him with his pain, but he could not remember what that pain was. He remembered his beautiful mate. She had just had five pups! But he couldn’t remember where they were or why he had left them. He was very afraid. He was certain that this was punishment from the Great Spirit for interfering with the memories of others.
He remained a spy because he seemed to remember that he became a spy because of his family, and assumed that he was looking for information in order to find them. For a while he refused to use his powers, hoping to be rewarded with more information and memories about his family. He tried to use what he had learned over the years to complete his duties without using his powers, but he wasn’t as effective as before and he found himself making exceptions, always justifying it with “just this once”. He stopped wiping the memories of the entire pack when he left, only those memories that he worried could be held against him or detrimental to his job in the future.
Powers: He is very selective about which memories he will alter in others. As his own memories fade he realizes how important a wolf’s memories are. As a result he will wipe the memories of himself from another wolf, but is reluctant to alter other past memories. He has done this on occasion, only after meticulous thought and usually having to do with his spy duties. The one exception to this is the insertion of himself into other memories, or the addition of completely new memories to get the other wolf to open up to him (because he thinks he knows Gotham).
While he is in the mind of another he has access to most of their memories. However, he cannot access things that the other wolf has forgotten themselves. He is best able to find and alter memories that he knows exist. Such as meeting him, or the contents of a meeting that he knows the wolf attended. Also, common memories like childhood play and hunting are easy to locate as he knows now what those kinds of memories “feel” like. He learned many of these things back in the first 15 years of using his powers when he would experiment with them to see how far he could go.
He must be able to make direct eye contact with the subject. He cannot access the memories of a blind wolf at all. If the wolf is only partly blind he can access memories and add new ones, but the process doesn't hold well and the subject normally ends up with two sets of memories, the old and the new. (He doesn’t know this yet, it’s just a limitation I have decided to place upon him). He must also be reasonably close to the other wolf. While altering the memories of other’s he is open to attack. The length of time it takes him to locate and alter the memory depends on how much he knows about the memory he is looking for. Memories of himself take very little time to locate and wipe, but memories of a secret meeting with the council of the pack that took place sometime over the last few days take longer. If he is disturbed (attacked) during the process the connection is severed. Once the connection is broken (on purpose or accidentally) the other wolf remains in a trace for about three minutes or until something breaks them out of it. Speech is not normally enough to break the trance, but physical contact is normally all it takes. The other feels a bit cloudy headed and depending on how much alteration was done, may have a slight headache. Gotham normally hides a ways away and waits for the other wolf to break out of the trance. He only wants information, not for them to be harmed because of him.
Gotham is able to restore the memories he or other memory manipulators have erased or changed. He can feel the difference in those memories and is able to put them back as they were, but this requires the most concentration and he rarely has found occasion to do so.
