Kayle lifted her head to the sun, closing her eyes and relaxing ever so slightly. She perched on one of the sediment islands, sunbathing peacefully. Her fish tail flapped to a rhythm in the water and her fur glistened as it dried. She lay on her belly with both paws stretched to meet the other side of the rock. Her ears pressed against her head and she yawned.
This was so much more fun when she was with her father, or rather, when he was with her. But he was long gone, and there was no sense in mourning now. She felt rather odd thinking about him. It’d been so long since she last saw him she almost had forgotten his face. Though, she would always remember the times they spent together and that was how he lived on.
Kayle licked her reddish orange paws; they itched from the blaze of the hot sun. Her tongue felt wet and warmer than the solar god that was raised above her head. She panted the heat out of her body and closed her eyes to rest. Her head lay gently between her paws and a large sigh coursed through her lungs and out. However, she found it difficult to sleep.
Her fins flailed a little and she stretched, scrapping her belly a little on the porous rocks. Her salmon colored eyes searched around as she prepared to leap back into the water. There were no other wolves… that she could see. Something, deep in her gut, told her she was being watched, but this was a familiar feeling Kayle had learned to ignore.

Zirith sped along the sea bottom, his right eye locked on his target. They both darted to and fro, barely avoiding rocks that they sped past. The target was a little fish, about two inches long and four inches tall. It was a bright coloured fish, but its breed was unknown to Zirith. The only thing he knew was that, when caught, it made for a delicious snack.
His half dark purple-blue scaled legs were tucked tightly to his chest; as to lessen the drag on his body. His dolphin tail, the same colour as his legs, pumped the water powerfully. It wasn't long before he was a mere few inches from the target. He opened his jaws to recieve his snack when it suddenly darted quickly to the left. Zirith ended up snapping his teeth on nothing but water.
Temporarily losing his target due to his blind eye, Zirith twisted roughtly to the left- scraping his side along a rock in the meantime. The rock was hard enough to rip off scales on his side, causing a bit of blood to spill out. He let out a snarl, stopping his chase to inspect the wound.
The wound itself wasn't terrible, it would heal within a few days, but it was the blood that worried him. There were always sharks in the water, creatures that would be more than happy to gang up on him and chew him to bits....He quickly swam up to the water's surface, taking in a deep breath of fresh air. He twisted around in the water, looking for some nearby land.
It wasn't long until he spotted a small cay in the distance. The distance wasn't long, but Zirith could already sense that some sharks had caught his scent. With a soft whimper and a hard thrust of his tail, Zirith starting his desperate swim to the island. When he glanced behind him he could see his blood trail...and the nose of the shark it circled. "Oh shit!"
The shark started to gain on him, but the cay was so close! Zirith pumped his tail harder, his mix of dark and light blue fur swirled around in the water. Suddenly, with another burst of power from his tail, he was expelled from the water- landing and skidding roughly on some rocks, which caused more scaled to be ripped off. The shark bumped into the rocks and seemed to glare at him as he panted. It circled around for a minute or two before swimming off.
That's when Zirith noticed the other Cael. He stared at her dumbly, with an expression of shock frozen on his face. "Er...sorry for the interuption..."

Kayle sniffed the rocks, bent at the knees, and was about to jump in when another Cael, blue in color, soared onto the rocks with a bang. She was so surprised that she almost fell in herself, but quickly regained balance when she saw the shark the Cael was swimming from. He panted heavily and was bleeding too much. The coppery scent filled her nose and intoxicated her mind with worry.
She stood on the edge of the cay with both of her red-orange paws planted firmly on the sediment. Her attention and gaze were swinging between the other Cael and the dangerous shark the Cael was almost devoured by. She laughed, nervously. This was weird, she couldn't leave now because of the shark and bloody water, but she was on the rock with another wolf. A wolf of her own kind. The shark slid away and Kayle suspected it was lurking somewhere waiting for them to get back in the water. She didn't want to take that chance. Though she was fast as well, she was also huge in body mass and didn't have as much speed as the usual Cael.
Now left with limited options, Kayle turned her full attention to the beautiful blue wolf before her, who was unfortunately bleeding so much it distracted her from what he said. She watched as the blood trickled slowly from his torn scales, seeping into the porous rocks and forming tiny puddles of blood instead of water. Kayle began to feel a little nauseous. she closed her eyes and looked away, hearing the last bit of what the Cael said. 'interruption...' She kept her eyes closed and her nose pointed toward the water on the other side of the cay. Waves crashed on the sides of the rocks and splashed enough to hit her in the face with miniscule droplets of saltwater. She sneezed and shook her fur loose.
Kayle didn't respond for a second or two, a very awkward second or two. Finally, though she had been distracted, Kayle realized what he had said. "It's fine, there's no interruption." She quickly mumbled the words, trying not to talk and taste the scent of the blood in the air. She opened her eyes again, the bright sun beaming into them and hurting her pupils. "It's actually perfect. I was just about to leave of boredom, then you popped up... literally." She laughed again, this time less nervous.
A breeze lifted the scent from her nose for just a moment and she relaxed a little. When the breeze had gone and it came back, she forced herself to stay relaxed. She looked at him once again, this time averting her gaze from his wounds. He was a blue and purple Cael, the opposite of her own coloring. He was tired, she could tell that. Perhaps he'd been chased for a long time. In any case, Kayle figured he needed rest, but they were both stuck on the rock for now.
She shifted her weight so that her body was curled like a sleeping cat, though she still stood on her front two paws. Her tail would have dried if it weren’t for the remnants of crashing waves dropping like bombs onto it. For that she was grateful. ”So, what are you doing here?” The words came out slowly, cautiously, but all too rudely. She didn’t mean to offend him, she was happy to have company, but Kayle was also very bad at saying things the way she wanted to. Cringing at her tone, she forced out a smile to maybe soften the bite she accidently threw at him.

Zirith noticed immediately that the other Cael was uncomfortable with the amount of blood that seeped from his body. He looked down at the small pools of blood that were forming. He knew he was injured, but he had no idea it was this bad. He ducked it head and licked at the wounds a bit, scowling at the metallic taste. He glanced back at the water with a frown.
"It's fine, there's no interruption. It's actually perfect. I was just about to leave of boredom, then you popped up... literally."
"Ah good." He said with a soft chuckle sliding his body closer to the water, he positioned himself so that his wolf body faced the large female Cael, but his dolphin tail was able to be washed by the waves. He winced every time the salt water entered the wounds- but he knew it was for the better. Eventually the salt would stop the bleeding.
”So, what are you doing here?”
Her tone took him by surprise, his jaw went slack and he tilted his head. "Er, well... you see..." He lifted up his left paw and rubbed at his left blind eye, growling slightly. "You see, I was chasing my snack when it turned into my blind spot, and I ended up cutting myself on some rocks. He babbled slightly, rubbing the left eye as he spoke; which was his way of trying to hide his embarrassment. His fur turned a reddish-purple color, due to his skin turning bright red with his sudden shyness. "And so I went to the surface to find some nearby land and I saw this little cay and I didn't know there was someone on it and so I swam over to get away from the shark and now i'm here with you, bleeding, i'm sorryforthemesspleaseforgiveme."
His speech became quicker as his head lowered and his ear drooped. At the end of his babble his head was resting on the rocks and his paws covered his nose. He watched the other Cael from over his paws. This had to be the most awkward introduction he's ever had with another wolf, hell, with any other animal- period.
He shoved his paws over his eyes, his dolphin tail twitching in what would be a tail wag if he had his land legs. "Nicetomeetyou, mynameis Zirith."

He explained his journey regardless of her unexplainable mishap. Kayle’s mouth watered at the idea of a snack. She’d been out in the sun for a while and hunting sounded like fun at the moment. He ended with an apology for his bleeding. She laughed carefully, this time making sure not to offend. ”It’s quite alright. I just don’t enjoy the sight or smell of blood that’s all. It’s not your fault.” Her voice remained steady and calm, Though she was frantic inside. Kayle was trying very hard not to show her true discomfort with the situation. She’d become an acting pro through the years, and had been practicing since she was born.
‘nicetomeetyou, mynameis Zirith.’ The words echoed in her mind, she deciphered the wolf’s name and wondered where his parents had heard it before and why they’d liked it enough to name their son that. Kayle herself was named by her father, and she loved her name, simple and easy. This wolf though, he didn’t have an ugly name, it was more interesting, and not in a bad way. ”Nice to meet you too, Zirith.” The name tasted funny on her tongue, as if she’d swallowed a mouthful of seaweed for the first time.
”I’m Kayle.” She felt just as weird speaking her own name, talking at all really. She’d not said a word in over three days, being the anti-social wolf she was. Her gaze fell again and she watched her paws for a moment, trying to think of what to say. Zirith had dropped his body into the water, she assumed to clean the wounds or get them to stop bleeding. In any case, she couldn’t see them anymore and it was somewhat safe to look now.
Her gave fell on the Cael’s face, right across his eye there was a scar. Quickly she averted her gaze to his purple coat, knowing he was blind on that side, but not wanting to stare anyway. Her mind sparked and spun with curiosity, wondering where and how he’d gotten the mark. It came only as an afterthought why he’d turned purple. Her coat didn’t do that, perhaps a little redder than usual from the heat, but that was all it would do. Of course, her colors were much more vivid underwater where she belonged.
Kayle began to pant, gently and not yet heavily. The shark seemed to have gone away, but Kayle was still unsure. She didn’t want to take that risk. Still in a curled position, she flopped down on the rock and stretched her paws forward. She faced perpendicular from Zirith, but her gaze was still on him. ”I guess we’re here for a while. I don’t know about going back into the water right now.” She slid her attention to the scattered clouds of blood still seeping away in the water. ”It didn’t get you, did it? The shark I mean…” She said softly, still watching the smoky water.

”It’s quite alright. I just don’t enjoy the sight or smell of blood that’s all. It’s not your fault.”
Zirith tilted his head at this information. How did she hunt if she didn't like the the sight or smell of blood? He shifted his position slightly, holding back whimpers of pain. He was laying on his torn up left side, which allowed his weight to help stop the bleeding; but it was very painful for him to be laying as such.
”Nice to meet you too, Zirith. I’m Kayle.”
The corners of his mouth lifted up in a smile. "Kayle..." He said softly. Although the name was a fairly common name for females, it had to be one of the easiest names to roll off the tongue. It made his name sound alien-ish, since his name could be pronounced various ways. His parents once told him that they chose a unique name for him because they felt that he would become one of the most unique Cael in the world. Zirith felt the only unique things about him were his colouring and his scar. While most Cael had a mix of reds and browns, Zirith was fully light and dark blue; he figured it was some kind of birth defect, especially since both his parents were blue and brown with hints of green.
As he layed there with the female Cael, the red flush of his skin returned back to normal; which brought his fur colour back to normal. And with nothing else to really look at, Zirith found himself admiring Kayle's colouring. He liked the way the red blended with the rest of her fur- red happened to be one of his favorite colours. He had seen blue pretty much all of his life, so he liked to see different colours. In a way, he wished he had red colours instead of purple and blue. Half the time he felt like the colours made him too girly.
”I guess we’re here for a while. I don’t know about going back into the water right now.”
He frowned, trying to ignore the blood that still seeped from underneath him. "That would be my fault, I suppose." He said quietly, his mouth going dry. "You wouldn't be stuck here if it weren't for me and my blood trail." He grumbled bitterly, staring out at the water.
”It didn’t get you, did it? The shark I mean…”
He shook his head slowly. "No Ma'am, the only injuries I sustained were from the almighty, evil predator or doom- rocks." He smirked sarcastically, rolling on his back to lay on his right side- exposing the torn up left side to the sun. The skin was bright, irritated pink, with dark brusing around the scales surrounding the wound. The bleeding had nearly stopped, and the wound had begun the slow process of closing. Why was it that he was always injured by things that don't usual cause harm? For his eye it was a Stingray, a relatively shy creature that usually swam away, and now for his side and belly, it was a rock. To harm yourself on rocks, you had to be pretty careless to your surroundings.
More softly he added- "But, thanks for the concern, Kayle." Now that he lay on his right side most of Kayle was hidden in his blind spot, and his good eye saw mostly water. He was relying on her good intentions to not tear his throat open, since at the moment, he was completely vulnerable to the elements. He whimpered softly, closing his eyes. Now that the shock and adredaline wore off, the pain was very intense and hard to ignore. He cursed himself for not being more careful.

‘No Ma'am, the only injuries I sustained were from the almighty, evil predator of doom- rocks.’ Kayle smiled and then laughed effortlessly. She didn’t even notice the change in color of his coat again. Funny wolf. She hadn’t decided whether she liked him or not yet. It wasn’t a hard decision to make, but he was just about as socially awkward as she was. Or maybe he was just catching it from her. Maybe he was normally, well, a normal wolf.
He rolled over and let the sun treat his wound, possibly tired of the sting of saltwater. It was easy to see the pain in his facial expressions. Kayle looked away again, watching as the waves crashed back and forth against themselves. It was rather relaxing and Kayle found herself drifting away like seaweed cut from the mother plant.
‘But thanks for the concern Kayle.’ She nodded her response, giving him another smile. She sighed deeply, feeling lifted for just a moment. Kayle dipped a single paw over the edge of the rock and tested the water’s temperature. It felt refreshing, though it was only her paw. Tired of the silence she spoke again, ”Darn those rocks, always lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce.”
The conversation was in a lull. She didn’t know what to say, and apart from responding to her, Zirith didn’t say much either. Kayle moved away from the edge of the rock, letting her tail dry a little. Once again she was sunbathing, a pastime she would not soon be rid of.
(OOC: sorry for the lack of posting, I've been REALLY busy and probably will be tomorrow and the day after until lunch)
