♠ TORTOISESHELL THE GIRL OF THE SILENT WORLD Waves rolled up to her fluke, and she blinked into the shining moon. Tor found herself lying on ragged rocks, her body lying side up against the brown tones of the coast. She raised her wet head and blinked, and stretched. She pushed her soaked body upwards and dragged herself away from the sea with her front flippers. As the lapping ocean stopped touching her front part, the flippers gently turned into couple of land's legs. Her silver eyes bored down at her paws. She hated them.
Tortoiseshell yearned for the life undersea for eternity, just like fishes, whales, and jellyfishes. She knew that it was not to be, she was bounded to land like she was bounded to sea.
She knew that because what was the other reason why whenever she become dry, she become wolf? Tor suspected that there was a deep reason that she hadn't figured out yet.
Her flank fell onto the ground, feeling sharp jabs of the rocks. Her long aquatic tail splashing the water with its massive diamond-shaped ending, while she stared at the sky overhead. The rolling seas splashed against the rocks while the calm sky above shone intensely with scattered stars.
Far, far into the horizon, she saw the calm part of the sea, with the reflection of the stars.

He wasn't a particuarly tall looking wolf, not considering that he appeared to be a lupus anyway. His coat consisted of white and grey, mottled by a yellow colouration that was the only real interest to his otherwise plain appearance. He was fairly steady upon his feet, though as his coppery eyes caught sight of the water, he attempted to increase his speed, wobbling slightly with the first few bounds.
Legs soon adjusted to the change of pace and a smile broke across his muzzle, tail waving happily behind him. There was a mixture of reasons for his happiness, the main one was the sea before him, whilst the other was related to the success he was having with his training, growing steadier upon his paws even at higher speeds. He loved the water, but the fact that he could truly achieve life in both worlds was rather pleasing for him. Most of his species struggled on land, but not him. Not Calder Lerien.
He was actually a cael, just in case you haven't already worked that out for yourself. One with a rather strange mission; to improve his part of life on land. It had been torture at first, and even to this day he was like a pup being told they could explore when he caught sight of the water. If he was more confident in his running skills he probably would have moved faster. Though it was perhaps fortunate that he held back from that, it would have likely been a big fright for the cael sat upon the rocks. The one that Cal had only just caught sight of now he was closer to the water's edge.
It would have been common sense to stop, perhaps go closer talk to the young female though being so close to the water was torture, he had to get into it. He charged right at the waves, changing as the first droplet of water landed upon his coat. A tail matching the pattern of his fur suddenly taking the place of his hind quarters. He slid smoothly into the water, diving beneath the waves for a moment before his head bobbed back up deeper into the water. 'Ah, bliss.' He thought simply, flicking his tail from side to side, in a similar manner to a stretch when one wakes up.
The female soon caught his attention again though, and Cal couldn't help but be polite. He swam back towards the shore, close enough that he would be able to speak, though far out enough that he didn't have to leave the water. "Sorry about that. It was a bit rude of me, though it's been a while since I've had the chance to swim." He called. "I'm Cal by the way."

♠ TORTOISESHELL THE GIRL OF THE SILENT WORLD Moonlight above coloured her face and the curling sea silver, and left its mystical traces on them. Still watching the distant waters, Tortoiseshell felt the deep intense energy stirring inside her, its warm fingers curled themselves around her throat, promoting her voice into crying out into haunting cael song. The air of solitude wrapped itself around her muzzle as she lifted it into the calm sky. Before her singing voice rang out wordlessly, before she even opened her mouth, a stranger wolf dashed towards the rolling sea. Tortoiseshell's silver-green eyes widened at the sight.
The desire to sing ebbed away as she watched another cael bobbing in the waters, how his hind legs transformed into fish's tail. His yellow scales quickly matched the streak on his fur. Her beating heart, which rose when the stranger charged, settled and her face bore a serene expression.
It was good to see a creature in its home, especially after being absent from it for a while. This cael might been away from the sea for some time, judging his reaction at seeing the rolling waters. She smiled as the cael noticed him and made his way towards her, as close as possible without getting out from the water.
He spoke, but Tor didn't hear. She saw his moving jaws, and knew that he was speaking to her. Her smile faded while her eyes bore into his face. First time meetings were usually introductions unless their body language says otherwise, she knew that enough.
She waved her tail, and grinned. She would introduce herself, but she didn't know how. She had never ever heard her name, but she knew what it looked like. A tortoise shell.
Tor's forelegs pushed her front part in a silly hobble towards the water, while her long tail dragged behind her, half of it was still in water. When she was finally in water, her front limbs turned into flippers, and she dog-paddled towards Cal and attempted to push her nose against her fur.
She flicked her ears before shaking her head, indicating that she couldn't hear. The cael hoped that Cal would get it. If he didn't, well, he would soon.
It wasn't her nature to be ashamed and quiet; after trying to tell other cael that she was deaf, she snuffled at a random seaweed and brought it to him, whining. She wanted to play. After all she's only a yearling.

Stranger still, was how moments later the smile returned, and although she gave a small wave of her tail in greeting she offered no words at all. Surely the waves weren't loud enough to drone out the speech?
Apparently though she did intend further communication than the smile and little wave, slipping back into the water and making her way towards him. Perhaps she was quiet, losing her voice maybe and needed to be closer to speak. The idea that she was deaf hadn't yet occurred to him, he hadn't met anyone who couldn't hear, though he was mildly aware of the condition.
The confused expression remained on his muzzle as she attempted to explain how she couldn't hear. He frowned slightly, coppery eyes watching her movements as he attempted to decipher her strange behaviour. He was a clever wolf, with a bit of careful thinking he could manage it, and sure enough he put things together. 'Ears... ear's no? She doesn't talk either it seems. And didn't seem to hear... She can't hear? She can't hear.'
His expression changed at the realisation, and he muttered a soft 'aah' his head nodding slightly. And then suddenly, without any other notice she turned and swam away again, he kept his gaze on her, watching her movements, rather curious about what she was up to now.
He soon got the message as she returned whining with the seaweed, a longing gaze in her eyes. She was only young, not a surprise that a playful streak was still in her, Cal could understand, not even adults were always fully mature. He grinned and nodded slightly to show he understood, and that he would play with her. He took a hold of the seaweed and attempted to pull it free from her clasp. If he succeeded, well his next plan was to swim off for a little chase.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]Relief etched itself across her soft features, Cal had understood. She had read the realisation in his face. And, much to her immense relief, he accepted.
She remembered being abandoned when they realised. There was a wolf once, she played with Tor, not realising that she couldn't hear until much much later. When she knew, she had froze and hesitated around her, forgetting that Tor could socialise. The wolf ended up leaving her nervously. The cael remembered her pain that day, that was only time she was ashamed of her deafness.
Cal accepted her by clasping his jaws around the seaweed that was in her jaws and tugged. She returned his tugging with a tough jerk. Suddenly the want to win erupted inside her, she bent her lengthy tail downwards, her tail dug into the seabed, acting like an anchor. She scrambled backwards and felt the seaweed giving away. Tor actually thought that Cal was losing grip when the seaweed split.
Her half drifted away into a sea current as she jerked backwards, her mouth gaped in surprise. Her metallic pale green eyes rested on Cal for a short time before darting off to retrieve her lost seaweed part. "Nuh!"
Her tail pushed her torpedo body forwards swiftly, her flippers cut through the dense water, driving her through the murky sea. Before she disappeared into the current, she gave Cal a quick, inviting glance. She wanted him to follow; after the short burst of speed, she was tempted to start a chase, which she thought with pride, that Cal possibly won't finish.

He should have realised the young cael may have been a little more competitive in the tug of war for the seaweed, should have perhaps been a little easier on her.
In shock perhaps, she had released her half, he could see it falling down through the waters now. His own part was still clutched within his jaws, and rather than continue playing with that piece, it seemed that the younger cael wished to retrieve the part that was lost. Cal hoped that she didn't plan on attempting to join them back together afterwards, that wouldn't really work.
He was already following before she turned back to look at him. She had wanted a game and he had planned a chase, although not with them both chasing after the same part. Cal pushed forwards to reach it first, though with the other part of seaweed still in his mouth he had a plan. Although perhaps not quite in his favour...
He dropped his own part as he neared the other half, pushing it away with a stroke of his front legs and then reached out to grasp hold of the remaining piece. The second half floated just behind the female cael, and he had an almost comical look of surprise on his mouth. Although he had already noticed the floating piece of seaweed, he still glanced around him attempting to work out what he had done with it. Eyes widened again as he saw it floating past the other Cael's head.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]Her silver green eyes shone through the wavering currents of the sea. Despite the rapid movements of the sea, Tor could see that Cal was quite surprised by the sudden splitting of the seaweed. She smiled as she saw Cal trailing behind her. Turning her head forwards, she swung her tail powerfully, cooperating with the speed of the currents. Her flippers sliced through the waters flawlessly, and the furs around her neck swished, along with the sea. She felt her powerful hind muscles bunching and relaxing as her diamond-shaped tail end moved up and down against the dense water.
She turned her head, quite scornfully. Tor was sure, so sure that Cal won't be able to catch up with her. At the moment she laid her eyes on Cal, her speed faltered. There he was, just a centimetre beside her flank. And he kept quickening his pace. Tor, jealous and blinded by her pride, sped again, only stopped when Cal opened his jaws to grasp her half of the seaweed, releasing his half into her head in process.
She squealed and attacked the seaweed swiftly. Her flippers scrambled against nothing (except for water, obviously). She kept snapping until she felt the 'pop' in her mouth. Yes! She got Cal's half of the seaweed.
With immense pride, she looked at him. Tor's half was drifting away as Cal paused, confused. She nodded her head violently, as if to say 'go!'. The itch to chase after her seaweed erupted inside her, so she started to go forwards. Before then, she butted her nose against Cal's side, whining.
sorry for the long wait ;_; ;_; -bad soar- xD

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/CalMid.png]Cal prepared to begin another little fight, one that he knew full-well could mean splitting the bits of seaweed into even smaller sections if they continued like this, it was what made the chasing a little easier to do really, and so for a moment the Cael waited to see what the young female would do. She of course had claimed what had previously been his section and her former piece was held within his own jaws.
He had been prepared for her to swim forwards, perhaps to try claim back her original piece of seaweed and Cal contemplated swimming away. He stayed put however when she simply head butted his side, whining softly. He dived down a little and lightly tackled her in return. The move wasn't enough to hurt her, in fact it would have barely moved her at all, just a soft nudge similar to her own.
The seaweed dangled from her mouth slightly, peering up Cal had the temptation to try steal it, though he had already gone through those results in his mind, it'd be too small to fight over if they continued in that manner. So instead, he nudged her one last time and quickly changed his direction, swimming away from the younger cael. He glanced over his shoulder for a moment, slowing down slightly and casting her a look that encouraged her to follow. Then he was off again, seaweed still dangling from his mouth.
