Koga was lonely. He'd been wandering aimlessly around the tall prairie grasses and howling every night for almost a week now. He had nowhere to go, nothing to do, and he could barely fall asleep each night. The wildflowers seemed to reek of freshness, and he could scent their sickly sweetness floating over the fields. He let out a yip, frustrated. A robin started at his noise. He pounced and killed it, tearing it to shreds in anger. The bird lay, mangled and broken on the ground. A choking, sick feeling rose up inside him. "I killed it...Why? I'm turning into a beast. I don't belong here..." Koga howled frantically, letting his fear, his frustration out. He howled until his throat burned and the noise would no longer come, just scratchy whimpers. Koga lay down in the endless waves of grass, exhausted and alone...
