A small yagi walked slowly back toward the dens. Her brown pelt wavered in a chilling breeze, despite the fact it was summer, the wind still cut like a knife. Her head was tilted downward slightly, her up curved horns glinted in the weak sunlight. In her strong jaws she carried the limb form of a young fox.
She paused at the main den, the one where Sheba, her Empress, usually slept. Cypress' intense green eyes shimmered with curiosity. She peered up at the sun, trying to judge the time properly. She should be here... She carefully set her prize down on the cool ground and looked around the rest of the area. She could not tell if anyone was around or not.
Cypress sighed and sat down, the green streaks on her pelt danced as her pelt smoothed down. In her gut, Cypress carried a jackalope. She had intended to regurgitate that for her pack mates as well as give them a fox to feed on. Since she came to the Empire and was made Captain, she had begun to take her job very seriously. She made an effort to travel to the neighboring lands to learn about the different prey species so she could find the best ones for her pack.
She took a moment to breathe, she had left before sunrise to find food, and was just now returning in the late afternoon. She had surprised herself by finding and making two kills. She could not hide the little smirk of pride that crossed her maw. She brings a strong hind paw up to scratch at her ear, then yawn. She inhaled the air deeply and allowed a sense of contentment to overcome her.
She was home....

Feet quickly dragged along the ground. Her steps inline with her running beats. Sheba was hurt. A sigh left her lips. Though were was the Captain. Where was Cypress. A howl sent for into the air, a call to her. She had to hear of this news. Though she was just glad that the empress was not stuck anymore. Teal eyes looked over the snowy land that she ran across. Snow dust lifting up into the air after each time her back feet lifted from the ground. Where was Cypress?
She let her nose flare, taking in the scents around her, maybe able to find cypress's sent. A sigh fell from her lips afterward with no scent. Though she wasn't going to head back that easily. Ears pricked forward as she pulled more speed. Letting herself gain more ground over the land. Ah! the dens! A smile pulled to her lips as she slowed down, letting her pace come to a walk. Her head turned, as she looked around, the place seemed empty almost, though then there was that slight smell of a wolf. Cypress! A large smile pulled to her lips as she began forth, taking a fast pace toward the smell. Eager, and worried.
She turned her head back facing toward the place she just left, hoping Sheba was okay. Though she knew she would be okay. Poseidon was there with her. A nod was given, as she looked forward again, eyes searching for Cypress. Who she defiantly knew was here.

Sheba gave a heavy limp. She winced as she accidently touched her swollen paw to the muddy ground. However, she did not yelp. Her paw was obviously broken because of what she did in futile pain—she had twisted her ankle in thrashing anguish, only to hear that gross snap. The sound of it echoed in her mind yet. She could still feel that moment. The one that screamed ‘oh crap’. However, she remained strong. A façade of confidence and dominant carriage kept her from looking overly pathetic most times. But. With the swollen paw and the limp, it magnified how fast from grace she fell.
Sheba was not a wolf of which one would sing her beauty.
Fore and Pos had helped her to the Snowhills—the den area for her Empire. She tried to find herself a place to rest before collapsing in her own den, but had too much dignity to fall just yet. “Cypress.” She said as the scent finally was strong enough to overpower her pain. She smiled as she knew that her Captain was doing her duties, but the Empress sorely wished that Cypress had come a day early. Then perhaps she would have been safe.
Her Anthony fell from her shoulders. Too much in pain to pick him up, she gave a long low whine. Her love was not going to be left behind. She stopped before the dens. Her own den was a few steps away. She couldn’t move on until she knew that Anthony was safe. So, being the lazy female she was, she lay down.

The little Yagi wolf was napping in his den, crouched at the side of his den in the dark. He had only joined the Empire a short while ago, and as of now, he didn't know many wolves there. His paws and ears twitched as sounds echoed into his den from outside in the clearing. He lifted his head drowsilly, blinking away his sleep. He yawned, slowly rising to his paws. He hesitantly stepped towards the entrance, but did not go out.
Doki poked his head out, gazing around the clearing until he saw a clump of some of his packmates. He blinked again, wanting to know what the commotion was. When one of the wolves moved, he saw her. His empress was lying on the ground, her paw twisted in an unusual way. His tail twitched nervously. He wanted to go and make sure she was alright, but he was to hesitant too. He gulped, shrinking back into his den. He stared at the ground, thinking of what to do. Why didn't he just go out? He was with his packmembers.
Doki slowly stepped out of his den, making his way towards the clump. His ears lowered as he got closer until he was at the back on the gathering. He stopped, gazing at Sheba from the back, his mouth shut and his ears low. She looked as if in pain, and it made his heart feel heavy for a reason. Perhaps it was because she was his empress, his leader, and he should feel this way towards her injured state.

Her olfactories took in the scent of the dens once more before she was able to tell that some of her pack mates were lingering. Cypress stood, her partially docked tail wavered, ready to greet them. However there was something wrong....her sense of contentment met with a challenge. She first saw Foreista arrive, looking weary and worried. Then she saw the lumbering form of Sheba...limping?
Cypress' eyes widened she stood abruptly, tensing. She glanced down at the young fox, debating taking it to her Empress. She picked it up roughly in her jaws and began to trot toward Sheba and Foreista. Once she saw Doki appear she quickened her pace, then as Sheba dropped Antony she was running the short distance to her side. A few yards away, she dropped the prize all together, closer to the others at least.
"Bathsheba! Are you alright?" Her ears and tail lowered and she gave a sympathetic whine. She looked between the other two pack members, her powerful gaze falling on the Foreista, "What happened?"

A nod was given, as she turned around quickly and wasn't long behind her. Eyes looked to Sheba as she soon fell to the ground. She pulled over to Anthony's pelt as she lightly picked it and placed it at Sheba's pelt. Eyes looking over to Cypress as she spoke. Sheba got stuck in some mud at the geyser. I was called to help her out, though by the time i was there, i did get her out, though she broke her paw words explained carefully as she set her eyes back upon her empress.
Soon eyes looked over to a wolf. Which she had not met yet. Though if Sheba was calm with this wolf around, then she was as well. Eyes looking back over to Cypress, then back to Sheba. The geyser, what a place it was. Dangerous, her mind even thought why was the empress out at the geyser. A sigh fell from her lips before letting her mind attach back to what was happening around her.

Sheba gave a low growl as Doki’s scent touched her nose. She had expected him to jump to the occasion. Right now, she was injured and didn’t know anything about what to do next. Anything to alleviate the pain. Her foot was twisted at an odd angle and the swelling made it look doubly painful. She turned an ear to try to listen to the pack Caretaker, but got fed up with that endeavor. He was a quiet wolf. And then, she turned an angry expression toward him. Venom in her glare.
She beheld him in all his pitiable glory. His small twisty horns poked through thick and hardly colored fur. His body was small, feeble, and frail. And he didn’t seem to have the confidence to step up and take his responsibility. Sheba was a kind leader. She was a great leader. She rose to her feet—if only for the sake of her pack. If only for the sake of keeping some pride for herself. The two tailed Yagi. A caretaker. And it didn’t look like he could take care of himself—to Sheba’s eyes at least.
To her Captain and her Soldier, she said, “It’s nothing more than a wound. Nothing more than a simple mishap. Wounds heal… always heal.” She turned her burnsome eyes to Doki. “Isn’t that right Dokimer?” Her intense gaze was nothing but fire. Her body, grotesquely overweight. Only a few more steps and she’d be in her den.
“Tell the pack of my condition. I’ll call a Pack Meeting after I rest myself… and have Dokimer look at this leg.” She growled, sucking air through her clenched teeth in pain as she tried to ignore it. Anthony upon her back jostled in her crooked limps toward the den. Finally, she reached the cool, dry earth of the den and collapsed yet again in a heap that threw dust out of her den. The cool darkness reminded her of her two year stay in that cave. Only she and Anthony resided in that cave for those long two years. And. Neither of them lived during that time.

Dokimer lowered his ears as he realized Sheba was looking right at him. Her gaze burned through him, like she was looking into his soul. He gulped, fidgeting nervously. When she spoke to Cypress and Forestia, he winced at his name. What was he doing? He was the caretaker and his empress was hurt!
B-But... He shook his head as Sheba growled to him, stumbling and collapsing in her den. He casted a wary glance at the other two wolves before he skirted across the clearing to her den entrance. She is going to be angry with me... He bit his lip. It had seemed he had already ignored his duties, and he wanted to do them. He hesitated a bit before he slowly entered her den.
"S... Sheba?" He called softly, his voice filled with both fear and worry. His ears were lowered and head hung low. He was going to try and make it up to her, try to finally take charge in his job. But that was difficult for him. He looked at her twisted paw then looked back at her, waiting for her answer before he did anything.

Sharp and crimson eyes flashed to Doki at the sound of her name. Her hefty frame kept her from turning around in her den--she was much too injured and it was too much effort anyways when she wasn't. Her maternal side had taken over, and, even in the glory days, when she was a mother herself, she was a strict one. And now, she didn't even let that up. Despite her laziness and the fact that she really let herself go, she still held her high standards.
"Doki." Her voice was stern, but still somehow gentle. She didn't want to speak to him as if he were a pup because she thought that it was insulting because truly he was an adult. However, he led her to use her motherly voice. There was a hint of love in her firm voice--but only enough to raise his spirits such that he would be able to function.
"Your job is to take care. You are a caretaker. Show me what you can do. Did I give you the rank for nothing?" She sighed quietly before rolling onto her side. Her stomach was pot-bellied and the fact she was lying on her side did no favors. However, in her gaze toward the empty back of the den, her profile revealed that there was still that hint of long-ago beauty.

Dokimer nodded softly to her, his eyes on the ground. "I.. I know.. I'm sorry..." He paused as she turned over and he gazed at her. Her hair had fallen from her face and he could actually see her eyes now. He hesitated, blushing softly as he realized the look of her eyes was beautiful to him. He shook his head, clearing his mind. "O-Okay!"
The Yagi male went to her side. "I'll do my best, empress." He smiled softly as he noticed he didn't stutter. He lowered his head and sniffed her paw. "It's broken alright.." He stepped away, going to the walls of her den. "Hm.. Let's s-see here..." He saw what he was looking for; moss. He picked up a mouthful of it and went back to Sheba, setting it down. "Hold on." He darted out of the den, moving away from the other wolves quickly. He found a short thick stick and ran back to her den.
Dokimer set the stick beside the moss and looked at her softly. "T-This may hurt a little..." He moved his paws to her injured leg, paused, then made a quick movement, snapping the paw back the right way. He lowered his ears, knowing that it would have hurt Sheba. "Sorry..." He appologized quickly, moving the stick to her paw and then wrapping it with the moss.
When he had finished, he took a step back, worry across his face. "Erm.. T-That should help it h-heal straight.." He looked around nervously, wanting to know if what he had done was right.

Sheba winced when Dokimer sniffed her paw. Even his breath upon her swollen foot brought daggers of pain to it. His heated breath brought goose bumps up and down her fur, letting her fur puff up on her body as if she were cold.
"Do--" She was about to say his name as he left, but fell silent. He returned with the tools needed to prepare for her, a splint. And, intense pain followed. He moved her paw in such a way, straightening the twisted food. She gave a growl instead of a cry, but her eyes made it known that she meant no harm. She only wanted to not seem like a weakling.
Sheba gave a whine finally, soft and low. She thought that nobody heard it, but Doki was too close. She lay on her side still and looked at her splinted paw. It was perfectly done. His skill amazed her. Sheba lifted her eyes and said, "Psh. I ranked you a Caretaker?" Her tone made her sound unhappy with him. And her tricky voice was betrayed by a pleasant smile. "I mean, not even the most skilled healers of my own pack could set a break so well. You don't deserve Caretaker, but Doctor."
She gave a sigh as she rolled onto her three good legs. "Doctor Doki? Let's announce your rank." And she limped out of her den, into the light, taking great care not to disturb her sensitive and bound-up paw.

She glanced back and forth as explanations were given out. She glared a little at nothing or no one in particular. She was frustrated that in her absence something like this had to occur. She watched as Sheba and Doki went into the den together, Cypress halfway followed just to try to help. However she stopped at the lip and decided it was better to wait.
She paced outside of Sheba's den. She was growling lowly to herself, as if reprimanding her own absence. The food in her belly turned a little, she would need to regurgitate it soon if she were to share with the rest of the pack. She glanced back at the fox body she had brought back.
Her attention was distracted as little Dokimer ran out of the den. Cypress' tail went up as she became much more alert. Is something wrong? What's happening? Her mind instantly went to the worst case scenario. Once Doki returned, Cypress strained her ears to hear what was going on, she heard the male's mumbling and then a strong growl from Sheba....
She glanced over at Fore, curious what she thought of all this. She was about to ask when Sheba and Doki came lumbering out of the den. Cypress gave a slight whine, to express her concern. "Are you alright, Bathsheba? Are you hungry? I brought back two meals..." She wanted to help the healing process, that and she knew that she must feed the alpha first before she would even consider letting the others eat.

She laid herself down near the den. Really, she wasn't all that worried. She knew Sheba was going to be all right, she knew Sheba was a strong enough wolf, and with Doki, a caretaker, healer, she knew that things would be fine. No worry. Teal eyes looked over as Cypress stood at the front of the den. Nervous as ever. A slight smile pulled before she looked away once again. Head held high, as her ears were set forward, listening out into the lands.
A soft breath blew out, nothing came, only a small sprinkle of snow. A smile pulled, as even the lightest touch of snow amused her. Ears flicked back as she listened to sounds pull from the den. Some light steps, then heavier steps. Standing to her feet slowly she turned her frame around, eyes looking over to the three wolves, before letting her frame lower, and pull to a sitting position. Seeing Sheba's limp a lot lighter, and not so steep anymore gave some relief. Though seeing Sheba's stance, she pulled to her feet. A announcement? A new rank, though seeing how well the leg was took care of, she surely knew who was the one getting ranked.

Dokimer winced at her growl, but knew that she was thankful for his works. He blushed when she noted his skill, and he fidgeted with nervousness of being put on the spot. "W-Well.. Thanks.." He said, his voice burning with embarrassment. He lifted his head when she said that she would change his rank. His ears twitched. "Y..Yeah.." He thought about it; he could help save his packmates. Yes... He loved to help others, and being the doctor, he could do that and still not have too much attention on him.
The Yagi male hesitated as she went out before he took hesitant steps after her. He paused when he was out. Should he follow her, or stay here? He looked at the ground as he ran after her, skidding behind her and keeping close to her, their pelts nearly touching. It was like he was a lost puppy to his mother. He kept close to her, gazing warily up and back down again from the other wolves. He blushed hard, feeling the eyes of the other wolves on his pelt. His tails and ears twitched with embarrassment as he still kept close to his empress.

Sheba gave a growl as a shooting pain was sent up and down her spine. The paw had barely stroked the ground as she made a heavy limp toward the bare place. So many paws criss-crossed this area of the Snowhills that it was nothing but dirt and warm dirt too. This was truly the heart of the packlands. It pulsed with so much life that the chill of the Tundra was absent.
And the great Empress stopped. She stopped such that Doki would have to be playing close attention to not bump into her. And she sat down sloppily. “If none of you have guessed it yet. This wolf.” And she turned around brashly, with a rage in her movements—indicating a dizzying insanity that was starting to grow within her. Or. They could have taken it as excitement and showmanship. “This wolf is our new Doctor! For see how he has set my paw.” Sheba lifted her hindleg as highly as she could. She winced through the pain.
And her steady eye caught Cypress. “Food?” Her overweight frame limped toward the Captain as she approached Cypress with dire interest in her eyes. “I am hungry.” And one could tell she was planning on eating as the first.
“We do need more hunters, correct?” Sheba could finish the meal of a jackalope and of a fox on her own. Her appetite was a large one. Perhaps getting larger prey would fix that problem.
