"Lil! Wait!" Lissome called anxiously. "Get away from me Lissome!" Lilt returned furiously. Heavily pregnant, Lilt was not the expert flier that she was normally. However, the want to get away from her sister was strong. Lilt needed to be alone.
It had been a hard pregnancy and Lilt had grown irritable. She was weakened and angry. Damn that Poseidon! Damn him to hell! It was all his fault, he had done this to her. Lilt wasn't sure why she was avoiding Lissome. She just had a strong need to be alone.
Lissome, as usual, paid no mind to her weak pregnant sister. "Lilt, you'll die in child birth if no one is their to help you." Lissome sighed, leave it to Lilt to get knocked up and then pissed at her about it!
Lilt sighed, giving up, "have it your way Liss, but I don't know if their coming yet so you could just save yourself some time." Lissome chuckled darkly, "nice try sister."
Lilt rolled her eyes and began her descent, she soared lazily until she found what she was looking for. A small clearing, flat and out of the way. Lilt headed in that direction and touched down. Almost immediately she fell over to one side, breathing heavily. My how tired she was.
Lissome was at her side at once. "Lil? Are you okay?" Lilt nodded, shivering. "I think," she gasped, "that I'm glad you came along." Lissome smiled indulgently at her sister, "I'll help you, you'll be fine."
Lilt breathed deeply, "I..I don't think you're going to have to wait!" Lissome nodded, her poker face betraying nothing. "Just breath deeply and push." She told her sister. Lissome almost laughed at her advice, it was all she knew about birthing, what help would she be?
Lilt heaved, nearly screaming as a pain like no other wracked her weakened body. A pup came out, hopefully alive and well, but Lilt had not the time to be sure, because almost immediately another pain crippled her. Another puppy, Lilt groaned, how much of this would she have to endure?
With a final growl of pain a final puppy opened its eyes upon the world. Lilt shuddered for a while, no longer caring whether she lives or died, all she wanted was an end to the agony.

Mikhail was still unnamed because, in the definition most wolves had, he was still not a wolf. He was ready to be born very soon and his mother was becoming restless. He was unaware of the pain he caused her. Of the fact that his father had abandoned his mother in her time of need. And perhaps in this case, ignorance was bliss. To be full of guilt even before birth would drive any wolf insane, but Mikhail was happily tucked inside his mother’s stomach, safe from harms.
He felt her awkward flight as she tried to fly from her sister. It annoyed him somewhat and he wriggled in her womb. The conversation between sisters could be heard, but not understood. Despite the words, the puppy within was comforted by them.
Warm and safe, Mikhail knew his time was soon. And, after his stillborn siblings, he readied himself. The final pup. The only living pup in the litter. He was the survivor as he always would be.
His eyes were shut, still unopened and his ears were shut as well. Puppies were always born halfway created. His tiny wings were painful to his mother, but he didn’t care. He struggled out of his sac and breathed his first breath. His small and skinny frame screamed that he was a winterborn pup. And the newborn Keiyou cried out immediately in hungry mews. He cried over and over, but felt his mother’s warmth and could smell her milky scent.
She was full of good milk and Mikhail crawled slowly to his mother’s stomach, through the snow.
Always a fighter. Fighting from the moment he was born. He latched onto a teat and sucked his fill. He didn’t realize that his mother was dying. He didn’t care. Young puppies were like little parasites. They took the time and nutrients from their mothers, but usually, mothers were always ready and willing to give themselves away to their children until that single day when a puppy could say and realize that they were grateful.

Lilt yelped as she felt a pressure on her teat. This was something she was expecting, but, shouldn't there be more? "Lissome!" Lilt gasped. "Yes?" Lissome responded, her voice unusually subdued. "Where...are the rest...I....I felt three." Lissome felt tears creep into her voice as she responded, "They're dead, stillborn." Lilt felt nothing at first, but slowly she felt grief come on, after a few moments of silence she let out a shrill wail of agony. "Lil, you're still very weak! Be quiet!" Lissome begged! "No!" Lilt screamed, quaking with distress. "My puppies! She sobbed, "MY CHILDREN! Lissome remained silent, she knew that if she spoke she would fall apart, she had to remain strong, for Lilt.
Lilt was bleeding heavily, but she did not care. The wings of her only remaining child had hurt her, but she did not care. She was already a murderer, she had not helped to helpless puppies. It had been her job to carry them safely until they were ready to live, and she had failed. "The one...that...lived...he's Mikhail" Lilt gasped. "Lissome...I...I want you to care for him!" Lissome stiffened, what did Lilt mean. Lilt was going to live and Lilt was going to raise the pup! Not Lissome! What was Lilt talking about? She wasn't leaving! Unless...
Realization his Lissome like a wrecking ball. Her sister was dying and she would not live. Air whooshed through Lissome's throat and bubbled to her lips in the form of a screech, "NO! NO! We can take you to Doki! He'll fix you! You'll be fine!" Lilt would have chuckled if she hadn't been so weak, she knew she was dying, she only hoped that Mikhail would have enough milk after she was dead. "Goodbye sister, take good care of Mikhail."
With that said, Lilt stopped fighting. She stopped trying and just let herself go. Almost gently, she felt the pain leave her. Goodbye sister she thought as she looked her last on her best friend and rival Lissome. "Goodbye my sister, my friend, my dearest companion, the world is darker now that you are leaving." Lissome's voice was choked with tears, but Lilt could hardly hear it, she was almost gone. However, she appreciated the words of her sister, they made a fine epitaph, a perfect goodbye. As Lilt drifted farther and farther away from her sister she summoned the strength for a final goodbye. Goodbye world

Now christened Mikhail, a strong Russian name, the small Keiyou huddled closer to his mother’s warm stomach. Her teats were very full of milk and hungrily he tugged and suckled on them.
His wings rustled softly and he pressed himself against his mother as soon as he had drank enough milk to make his stomach round and taut.
He was tired now and soon fell asleep. He was fast asleep before he could feel his mother’s warm body grow cold with death. He cuddled closer. Nothing fell asleep faster than a well-fed pup.
He mumbled a bit as he licked his nose in his sleep. He was in a world of dark silence. And fell into dreams. And the only thing he dreamt about was suckling on his mother’s warm teat because that was the only good thing he knew so far.
