The small female yagi, moves quietly through the geyser field. She ached all over, it felt as if all her muscles were crying out at once. She felt like she had been hunting constantly up until the pack meeting. As soon as she had hunters to accompany her, she had started going after bigger game.Though not as constantly as when she was on her own, with the amount of effort it took, it might as well have been. She could not remember the last break she had.
She wadded into some of the white-gray mud of the sulfur springs. The chemicals stung her nose, but she had heard long ago that this type of mud had healing qualities. Why not try it? She had been doing her job well, and needed a break.
She was hesitant to lay down in the mud, she could only imagine how hard it would be to get the mud off of her once she was done. Her intense eyes fell upon the few snowdrifts in the area, she could wash up there after a relaxing soak. She made up her mind, and lowered herself into the steaming muck of minerals. Immediately she felt relief wash over her purely because of the warmth of the concoction.
She settled in, rolling onto her sides now and then to get the mixture to her aching neck, back and shoulders. She kept her head as clean as possible though, not wanting to dampen any senses in case another predator was near. Her sense of smell was already hampered just because of the steam.
Once she was completely settled, she allowed her mind to wander. They drifted from her newest kill for the pack....then to her hunters....then namely on Osiris. A ghost of a smile crossed her soft lips at the thought of him. Though her mind did not linger there, it floated toward the other members of the pack.
Noble Bathsheba...meek Doki.....distant Foresita....flighty Poseidon. She went through them all, applying words to those ones she knew well enough.
Vain Sabire. Her lip curled a little at the thought of the arrogant cael. It would take strength to deal with...her. Then she stopped at the other yagi male....Viking. She was not sure what to think of him. She shook her head free of thoughts. This was her personal time to herself, her relaxing time.

Speak of the devil and so shall he appear. Or in this case, think. Viking had no clue what had possessed him to walk to such a disgusting place such as the one that lay before him.
The putrid small of sulfur covered up the scent of the other Yagi, and Viking wasn’t paying attention anyway. His dark little mind, was turned on what else, but even darker thoughts. Although his surprisingly delightful meeting with his 'commander'--he chuckled at the thought--Had calmed him down a bit.
He thought he would be alone, but was proven wrong when what he thought was a harmless puddle of mud, moved. Upon closer inspection, he could make out the head and horns of another wolf. It took him a second to realize that it was the female Yagi from the pack meeting. He searched for her name and rank, and came up with Captain Cypress. He was momentarily proud of his memory.
He made his way over to her slowly, for she had not seen him yet. She seemed to be relaxing in the steaming mud. He had this urge to join her and soothe the tense muscles that he seemed to always have ready to strike at a moment’s notice.
He waited until his shadow fell upon her, to clear his throat in order to get her attention. "Hello there. I would be trying hard not to kill her also.” He said, thinking that she was trying to relax because of the scene with the vain little Cael. “Although, I would not be succeeding. Kudos, to you.”

Cypress' ears pinned back when she heard the sound of a rough throat clearing, coupled with a horned shadow. Sigh...not a moment's peace...The scent was mostly unfamiliar. She turned her head quickly to face him, water buck horns gleaming in the pale light.
She was a little confused at his words, but the bitter thought of Sabire returned to her mind with little stirring. She cleared her throat as well and spoke back, "Well, restraint is one thing I try to keep. Levelheadedness is surprisingly useful in hard situations."
She felt slightly vulnerable being half submerged in mud, not to mention a tad self-conscious. With a bit of effort, she struggled free of her bath and stood up to walk out. She pulled herself through the mud with a 'schlooping' noise that is customary for walking through mud.
Her green eyes fall back on Viking, she realized that they had not been properly introduced, "It's good to meet you, Viking. I am Cupresses. Though most call me Cypress." She gave a slight head bow to the solider, "Welcome to the pack." She glanced over to the snow drift, it would be easier to clean the mud off now while it was wet. However she did not want to be rude and roll around while he watched, so she opted to let it cake. Who knew, maybe it would continue the soothing process for her.

Viking gave a menacing chuckle. “Restraint. I don’t know the meaning of the word unfortunately. Causes me to get in trouble most of time, but hey,” He lips twisted into a wiry grin. “It’s how I get my kicks.”
He watched her unstick herself from the mud, and watched her thoughts play across her face. When she glanced at the snow drift, he did as well, guessing that she wanted to get the gunk off her pelt, but perhaps had too much pride to roll around in front of him. Ah, finally a Yagi with some pride around here.
“I am Viking.” He said after she had introduced herself. “And I am happy to be here.” Happy to kill your Empress, and take her place, and practically enslave all your fellow pack mates. He kept his face smooth, as he looked the Yagi up and down. “So the Empress gave you the rank of Captain, I believe. You lead the hunting parties.” He tried to keep the disdain out of his voice. He thought it was a waste to have Yagi’s taking down prey when they should be protecting the pack by being warriors. “How did you come upon such an honor?”

She kept a wary gaze on him. Something did not sit well with her, but she could figure it out. She took a seat a few feet from him. She kept her guard and continued with the conversation.
"Yes, I am the Captain." She stated frankly. The reasoning was really that the pack needed a hunter when she arrived, so she fell into line. "When I came to the pack, there was only a lupus, a cael and Bathsheba. Doki and I arrived on the same day, he was not quite fit for hunting so I took the rank." She paused, wondering how much detail she should go into, "My endurance is greater than most, so I am able to travel to the furthest lands to hunt."
She shrugged a bit, still watching him, though now primarily for courtesy. "I was the only hunter until the meeting." The last statement was matter of fact. She really had no help and was hunting almost constantly to satiate the appetite of Sheba alone.

"Ah, yes. I see." He said, though he didn't see at all. He remained standing, and didn't move to go sit by her, as any other wolf would have done to continue the conversation.
"I have never been one to go hunting. I would much rather spend my time fighting." He almost added 'Like any self-respecting Yagi should be.' But he bit his tongue, reminding himself that he had to make friends not enemies. "It's a better use of my skills." He tried not to sound arrogant, but the words themselves proved that he was.
"You must have a close relationship with Sheba, if you were one of the first to join her pack." He had a feeling that what he said was true, and he shouldn't waste his time anymore. Cypress would have to be taken down along with the Empress. He tried hard not to clench his teeth at the thought. He had no problem killing the disgraceful Sheba, but Cypress was a true Yagi in his eyes. 'Tis a shame. He thought. Perhaps with more time I can sway her to my side.

She could not help but think that he had just taken a stab at her for her rank. She also bite her tongue and forced herself to stay civil. She shook her pelt a little to allow the first few chunks of mud to come off.
"Bathsheba took me in when I was in a place where no one would have wanted me." She had come along way, he social skills had improved, and she was less and less repulsed by her small size and poorly docked tail. It was clear in her voice that she was loyal to Sheba.
She looked him over, he was a proud specimen. He was even attractive, if it was not for the nagging feeling in the back of her mind. That an his arrogance. Maybe she could get used to him. He was not as bad as Sabire at least. Though he did find herself preferring the company of yagi's more and more lately.

Viking nearly sneered, but at the last moment, was able to pass it off as a smile. 'Sheba is in no place to pick in chose who joins her pack, and who doesnt if they want to be ruled by such a fat Empress.' He wanted to say, but of course he did not. That would be the way to go, to make friends. He smile widened into a grin that would have put the chesire cat to shame.
"Yes, Sheba was very kind to trust me with the resonsibilty of protecting her pack." He almost luaghed again. Anyone with eyes can see where my time and energy is best spent. Sheba would be a greater fool then I would have imagined if she didn't give me the rank of a warrior.
Viking cocked his head to the side, and finally took in the fact that she had been rolling around in mud. "Say, is there a reason for the mud bath?" He said, like it was an after thought. (Which it was.)

Cypress smirked a little at his words, "It's pretty obvious that you would be good at protecting the pack." She felt a little bad for not being a very powerful yagi, but she was useful in other places.
She took a moment to scratch at her ear, she released a few mud clumps from her fur and set her paw back down. "The bath?" She looked over her shoulder at the sulfur pool. She turned back to him, "It is said that this type of mud has healing qualities."
She gestured for him to follow her and trotted back to the puddle. She dipped a paw in, "As I said earlier, I have been the only hunter until the meeting, so I had been working overtime to bring in food for the Empress and those that did not hunt for themselves." She paused a moment, gathering her thoughts, "The mud helps to soothe muscle aches and pains, I have come to find out. Also it's relaxing for a bit of a breather."
