He lay, stomach on the earth, tail in the air. The soft fuzz of his tiny wings stirred in the wind, the twin, curly horns, still small and useless, were pointed towards his quarry, which his yellow-green eyes were fixed on. The moss green of his coat, coupled with the brown of his mane, made him appear to be little more than a dead branch upon the ground.
The mouse, small and brown, was inspecting the remains of a jackalope Elegance had caught for last night's dinner. Nightmare Darkly, Elegance's son, knew better than to call her Mama. Anything that kept her from remembering these three tag-along pups were hers. What Mama didn't remember wouldn't hurt her.
Now, wiggling his fluffy little tail, Nightmare gave a tiny, squeaky howl and leaped, charging towards the mouse, who squealed and tore off, the pup hard on its heels. Over rocks, around logs, under the paws of other wolves, giving itty bitty squeaks and squeals, which, in his mind, were great barks and howls of a soldier hard on the heels of his quarry.
Finally, however, the mouse slipped into a tiny little hole, too small for Nightmare to fit himself into. Tired and pleased with his chase, Nightmare mimicked talking to the Don.
"Why, yes," he said in a small, gravely voice, "I dealeded wiv da perpatater kiwky and bluderly. Yew dun need ta wurry none 'bout him no mores!" he said, pranceing back and forth in front of a boulder, "A preminotion? Why fankoo, Mistar Don! Take ova yewr pomistion? Be da Don? Why, most serpantly!"
Nightmare wagged his tail proudly, then wandered around, barking orders at insects and shrubs in his squealy voice, "Yews dere! Pickup dat rock! Hurry up n' get it to da dens! We're gonna roast scratchy Flynn-monster on it! An' yews ova dere! Don't jus' laze 'bout or I'll eachu fer dinner!"
At the sound of what Nightmare assumed was someone approaching, the young pup darted into the bushes, camouflaging himself with his mossy fur and the leaves of the bush. Peering around, he wondered if anyone was coming.
"I'll get 'em and rip their ears off!" he whispered to himself, "I'll eat 'em fer dinners!"

The sun danced of his soft golden fur. Large clumsy paws stumbled through the commons in search of something to do. Brightness Darkly currently was avoiding his mother, the last time he was around her she threatened to kill him. He had become quite good, in the short time he had been alive, at keeping quite and out of the way. Brightness' stubby tail was wagging absently and he padded farther away from the hustle and bustle of the commons and into a more leafy area. There he could stretch his legs and play without being scowled by someone older. As he drew nearer he herd a voice that sounded suspiciously close to his brother's. He lurked closer, he didn't think to try and move quietly.
When he got there he saw nothing. Fluttering his small yellow and brown wings he looked around with sky blue eyes confused. "Nighair?"He called.

Nightmare sighted his brother, Brightness, standing just before him. Wagging his tail softly, he grinned. What fun! Now he could play a game of kick the Brighty! He stopped wagging as he heard his name being called. Had he been sensed? Crouching down, Nightmare changed the scene in his head.
The new Don, Nightmare lay in wait for an enemy spy, stalking the dastardly fiend by the faint light of the jungle moon. His every move was slow and silent, awaiting the perfect time to pounce. His wings were tucked close to his body, making him an aerodynamic torpedo of fur. The only thing that might slow him were his two curly horns, poised to stab the other wolf in the shoulder. He crouched down, wiggling his tail in the air and...
"Brig'ness! I'm gonna eachu!!!!" he howled springing from the bushes. He misjudged the jump, however, and landed to the right of his runty brother, skidding on the smooth dirt, shoving his paws in to stop himself. Leaping back onto his paws, the pup whirled around. Growling a tiny growl, he glared at his brother.
"Brigh'ness, yew messeded me up!" he said, "Yewr a meanie likkle guy, aren'cha?" wagging his tail, a cruel glint in his eyes, Nightmare gave his most foul grin, "An' I dun like meanies, I has t'punish yew so's yew dun mess wiv da Don again!" Again, the pup crouched low, again, he wiggled his tail. Howling once more, he tackled Brightness, hoping to topple him over.

Brightness let out a rough yelp as his larger brother barreled into him. The bright yellow wolf tumbled over his paws flailing for ground. He his something but wasn't sure if it was the bush or his brother. Secretly he prayed it wasn't Nightmare. He brother seemed to have fun picking on him and Brightness had no way of defending himself from him. Unlike his sibling he hadn't started to grow any horns and he was small and had trouble breathing. Like now when his breaths came in rugged gasps and his chest felt tight.
Clambering to his feet he tried to hide struggle to breathe from Nightmare. Brightness didn't want the bigger pup to think him weak. Instead he growled at him, head bowed and teeth bared. "Yew no Don. Ta real Don's gonna ge' yew if he her' yew!" Brightness chided. He tried to look menacing but wasn't sure if it had the desired effect.

Nightmare snarled at his brother's chiding. Not the Don? Why did Brightness always have to ruin his fun?
"Yew notta Don neiver!" he cried, unperturbed by his brother's attempt at menace, "An' evin if I'm not, I'm gonna be! I wuz prac'isin' t'be da Don later!" It annoyed him that his game had been ruined, and that his brother had such little faith in his abilities, and it annoyed him even more that he was beginning to grow hungry. His mood went from displeased to downright foul in an instant.
Now it was his turn to bring out his most menacing position. Spreading his small paws wide, spreading his wings as far as he could, pulling his face into the king of all scowls and lowering his head, horns towards Brightness, he let loose an angry growl, which then rose in his throat and became a howl of fearful proportions (or, at the very least, what he deemed fearful, perhaps fearful to a jackalope, or, hopefully, his brother).
He had once observed his mother hunting, following another wolf so she could teach her "student" how to create art with flesh. Nightmare copied her style now. Instead of going into a crouch, he practically slid forward, walking with a smooth "fall-and-catch" gait that he had picked up from his mother's walk. Looping around his brother with a flick of his tail, Nightmare assessed the smaller pup.
Ragged breath, itty bitty proportions... it was a sad, sick thing, calling this pup his brother. However, he supposed he could deal with it. He attempted to speak in his mother's smooth, deceptive manner, but his puppy-speach bungled it, making it seem as clumsy as most of his other mimicries.
"Yew t'ink yewr smart, eh?" he said, "Yew t'ink I'm not da Don, or I'm not gonna be, eh?" Completing his circle, he sat down. Leaning forward, nose to nose with Brightness, Nightmare exhaled through his mouth, giving his brother a whiff of his meaty breath, "Well, why not? Yew t'ink yew kin be da Don? Yew t'ink dat's gonna happen? Eh? C'mon, Brighty, talk!" ((OOC: I'm sorry he's so grumpy XD He's like a pile of teenage angst before actually being a teen))

Fear filled Brightness as Nightmare circled him. His sky blue eyes fallowed his brother as he came around to face him. Yellow ears folded back as the elder spoke. Brightness thought it silly that his brother was insulting him or thought that he was better than Nightmare. It was clear Brightness was going to have to explain himself before he got seriously hurt. He also wished that he wasn't alone in this clearing with Nightmare. The pup was almost as deranged as their mother.
"I nevva sai' dat!" Brightness protested. "An I don' wanna beh Don. I jus' dink dat if da real Don comes yews gonna be in touble! I is looken ou' fo yews!"
Now Brightness knew he needed to do some quick thinking to get back on Nightmare's good side. He needed to make him think that he was on his side. That he supported him. "I jus' don wan da Don to ge' rid of yews if he dinks dat yews are a dreat," he lowered his head submissively.

Nightmare was pleased by the fear he saw in his brother. Mama would've been proud, seeing him take on this insubordinate weakling. However, he did see the truth in Brightness's words. Being seen as a threat... it could ruin his career before it even began!
Pulling away from his brother, he brooded over this. He wasn't the brightest of pups, but he'd seen other wolves do this when they were trying to decide something, and he wanted to look impressive.
"I see.." he lied, "I kin unnerstan' dat! Yewr just tryin' t'keep me safe, I git it!" He wagged his tail softly, "Yewr a good bruver!" he gave his brother a friendly- yet still rough- punch to the shoulder, "Yew kin be da one to scrap scratchy-Flynn's fur offa da grownd when I'm da Don... until den... yew kin help me train!"
Grinning fiercely, he thought a bit more.
"Let's star wiv sparrin'! Mama says a strong body makes for a good fighter, and a good fighter kin kill more!" His stomach growled, and he sat back down.
"Brigh'ness.... yew dun have any food, do yew?" he asked sheepishly.
{{OOC: Sorry for the crappy post T-T))

Brightness need to think fast. He didn't have food but he had just gotten on Nightmare's good side and wanted to keep it that was. Bright blue eyes search around and he tried sniffing the air like he had seen others do. Sometimes their mother would feed them other time's she'd drop a mouse or jackalope down in front of them and walk off. He was sure he could catch something. Maybe...
"Uh nu, b-bu' I coul git yews some, I dink," Or he could just run away and forget about this encounter. Then again Nightmare would probably come after him more angry than before. So he dropped down into a clumsy crouch and tried to stalk forward. Unfortunately he looked more like a cat than a wolf and he tripped over his own paws and landed face first in the dirt.
He stood and shook his head to clear dust from his eyes. The were still watering as he turned back to Nightmare. "Or we coul jus ask Elli-gane for somefin,"
