The slight breeze that ruffled her feathers did nothing to relieve the heat. Summer air was damp with humidity and clung heavily to all who dared step out of their den. The water had dropped, evaporated into the air. Hero sagged with the weight as she hobbled about Mangrove Sanctuary. Her deformed front paw was pulled uselessly up to her chest and out of the way.
The little white- reddish Keiyou was bored. Her mother was off doing some Alphess duty and she knew not where her father was. Hero wished she was strong enough to accompany them when they had work to do. But with her gimpy paw she was too slow on foot and she was not yet old enough to fly though she had tried a number of times. This usually ended with her in trouble or injured.
It was just that there were few pups around and the adults were always busy. She longed to be able to play properly. Letting out a huff of resignation she continued to limp around the clearing in a desperate attempt to strengthen her limbs. She would run herself into the ground before she gave up.

A long, shuddering sigh of a noise gurgled up from the back of Jaws lungs and up through his snout as if attempting to combat the heat of a long, scorching afternoon with whatever breath he had left.
Rolling to his side, the Lupus's baby blues rolled up towards the burning heavens. He should have been out hunting, chasing rabbits, snapping at pretty she-wolves hind legs... --But no. Apparently he was ... well... he believed the term was 'a Jonas'. An anti-Midas. Everything he touched turned to... well, you only needed to fill in the blanks. He was useless. Scared everything away, made his own fellow hunters jump by taking stupid short cuts...
It wasn't his fault, he was just... clumsy...
Another canine sigh escaped his jaws, before the pitifully short tether of his patience finally snapped.
Hauling himself onto all fours, Jaw loped awkwardly back towards camp.
He paused for half a moment, nostrils flaring, ears pricking up.
There... there was company!
Tail twitching in utter delight he started off full tilt towards the other wolf. He wondered who it was, why they were still here!
The figure bloomed into view, a small sunburnt dot in the outskirts of his vision, streaked by the shadow of a lone cloud or two. It wasn't just a baby or a grouchy mother either! It was actual company!! Jaw barked a pathetic, half awkward greeting cheerily ahead and picked up the pace.

Hero had just about completed her fifth circuit of the clearing and she was already exhausted. She fluttered her wings out to cool herself off a bit. Strengthening herself was harder than she thought. The urge to quit was predominate but she fought it. If Hero just let herself give up she would never be able to keep up with the others.
She cleared about another six wobbling steps before a barked out greeting broke her concentration.
Deep indigo eyes watched the elder wolf come bounding into the clearing. Her lion tail wagged slightly. Maybe he could erase her boredom. He seemed willing to hang around her.
"Hello!" She beamed, tongue lulling some in the heat.

Showing no incentive to slow down any, Jaw, clutz of the century nearly barrelled head first into the keiyou, swerving quickly last minute, paws crossing awkwardly and falling the earth with a series of bumpths and an explosion of dust and dirt.
"Hello," She said--
--"Oww..." he replied, a crumpled heap on the floor. He could see a single, stupid hind limb jutting out at nose level. He wasn't even sure how the bony copper thing had got there...
"Whoops...." he whined...

Startled by Jaw bounding straight toward her she stared wide eyed as he swerved and stumbled to avoid her. Hero's breath caught in her throat as she watched the lupus land awkwardly. Hurriedly she limped over to him worried that he may be hurt.
"Are you all right?" she peered down concerned. She looked him up and down but didn't really see any injury. A breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. A high pitched wolf laugh erupted from the small Keiyou pup's throat.
"You took quite a fall," She said through her giggles, trying to use big words to sound smarter. She hobbles a bit to a better position before sitting down to relieve the stress of her weight on only three legs.

Itachi had been suggested by a member of his new pack to try exploring the territory, and not to worry since it was a slow day today, so no dangers were really expected, since slow day meant that everything was under control, so those who werent keeping that balance were trying to find something to do. He wound up back in familiar footsteps, as if he had walked upon the same path before, but in a more... opposite, direction.
Then it came to him. This was the swamp. The swamp that had put his life at risk in the first place. Which was what explained the occasional scent of blood musked out by the mud and humidity. It was his own blood, blood he had coughed up during the way to the camp. But he hadn't really walked much of, if any, he analyzed.
Itachi may have been aware of his current backdrop, but he was not aware of any presences, meanwhile just stretching his red wings, not knowing of the other members that were chatting. However, he was downwind, and his scent would be scented eventually. He would have used his powerful eyes to analyze this situation. However, he was focused on his own thoughts, oblivious of the real world.
