She could barely recall most of the names for the other wolves in the mafia and couldn't say she'd spent any kind of time with them at all. It was like being a loner still, only she was fixed to a place, to some leaders and rules; she'd seen enough of the pack's treatment to know what would happen if she betrayed them, not that she planned on doing any such thing. How many pack's actually allowed their members to keep their distance like this, most probably would grow suspicious of that type of behaviour.
Actually, there was one slight change in her behaviour now; the attitude towards her powers. She still felt that it's best use was that she could travel anywhere with no climate change, perhaps Sylvester and Flynn would make her put that to use at some point. But she had begun to put more effort back into her powers, perhaps she could make more use of them at some point.
As per usual, the female lupus found herself roaming the lands alone. There was no real reason behind it other than something to do, to kill some time. Perhaps to kill her boredom a little the best thing to do would be to socialise, make some real connections within the pack, yet still a loner at heart she wasn't willing to try. No she didn't really have to care for them, at least not in the way that they had to be friends, the word sickened her a little, but to actually understand the pack a little more. It made sense really. Today perhaps if she bumped into someone she would try, make some kind of conversation, a part of her still hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Sitting idle had never been his strong suite. Unless hunting, in which he held all the poise, grace, and calmness of a predator waiting to make the perfect strike, Kid just could not sit still. Now, with the realization of becoming a father looming over his head, the constant motion was even worse. If his paws weren't moving, his wings and antennae were. Anxious was an understatement. The male was completely on edge about the whole ordeal.
Getting Miss Izzy pregnant had never been the intention of their little experiment. Honestly, Kid never thought he would have children. Given his past and his affinity for the dead, reproduction had never been a question before. Satisfaction was garnered from the dead; there were no consequences with a corpse. But Isabella's offer had been so intriguing and never before had he... How could he consider himself well versed in the world when for the last hundred years he had technically been a virgin? It was just a pity that first time rendezvous could result in children. The event was definitely one he would likely never repeat again.
With his children not even born yet, he was already going above and beyond the duties of a doting father. The Sennyo catered to his mistress's every whim, hunting for her and doing his best to ensure her comfort. Any perceived threats were exterminated swiftly, even if it turned out to be no threat at all. Sure, the shift in personality was an odd change for the normally aloof, flirty, and calculating male. It wasn't totally unexpected though. The moment he'd found out he had renewed an old vow. The last thing in the world he wanted was to be like his father (even if he did not see the current similarities). If that meant going out of his way to make sure his offspring would have a proper upbringing, so be it. So long as he could care for them, there would be no abuse, at least on his part and even if his moral standards were just a little off kilter.
As it was, currently the male was out hunting for Isabella. Her appetite was voracious and keeping the many lives she carried full was proving to be a bit difficult. As he traipsed through the squishy soft ground of the sinkhole, on the lookout for anything that looked remotely edible, in a way he felt like cheating. Stealing something from the grasp of quicksand wasn't exactly a challenging kill. He was working on a time budget though. The mistress was demanding and his need to go above and beyond had him racing against the clock. It was just a pity he came across another pack member first. Curse that "do not eat fellow pack mates" rule!
"Afternoon, dahlin'," he called out, letting a smile turn up his mouth. It would be rude to not spare a few moments for idle chatter. Lifting a forepaw, he dipped his head low in an elegant bow of greeting. This was a female he did not know much about. While he recalled seeing her at the pack meeting, they had not interacted much, if at all. Making it a point to be in the good graces of all his pack mates, he would just have to spare a few minutes for now. After all, he never knew how soon he would need to turn one of his pack mates into a valuable pawn. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/IsolMid.png]It wasn't a rare occurrence to catch sight of a trespasser or a member of the mafia around the lands and so Isoldephine wasn't too surprised when she caught sight of another. The brightly coloured Sennyo wasn't too hard to miss, his yellow fur standing out vividly against the natural backdrop around them. Of course though, her own fur was hardly the useful camouflage, at least not in these environments, for the most part she could blend into snow.
Depending on who you met around depended on what reaction you would receive and what response you had to give. Within the pack, you had to be mainly civil really, idle chatter perhaps at least some form of recognition towards the other, particuarly the higher ranking members. A trespasser was of course an entirely different matter. Fortunately though, both wolves had seen the other before, the scents of the mafia clung to them anyway it was evident that they both belonged here. Isoldephine couldn't say that she knew the other wolf's name she wasn't actually even aware that he held the same rank as her, just knew he was of a similar status within the pack; he wasn't too high in the heirarchy.
He spoke, greeting her with a greeting so similar to only other one she had received from him before. She guessed that dahlin' was the typical way in which he greeted females, whether that was meant to be patronising, gentlemanly or flirtatious she wasn't sure, though she couldn't say she particuarly cared too much for it anyway. With the bow, she assumed it was simply a polite greeting and she gave a dip of her own head in return, her movements not quite as extravagant as the male's.
"Afternoon" She responded simply, her red eyes lifting back to the wolf's form as she stopped her walk a short distance before him. It wasn't that she didn't trust her fellow pack member, though any stranger to the lands would certainly be mad not to feel a little uneasy around these wolves, but simply out of respect, not wanting to be at risk of invading his personal space.

It was one of those obligatory responses others gave because it would be rude not to respond, even though they were secretly praying to not make eye contact and get roped into a conversation they didn't have the time for with a conversation partner they didn't particularly like. But her steps had halted, and that was all the invite Kid needed. It was a pity for the young miss that the male was the type to keep talking even after you'd excused yourself three times and wasn't above stalking to continue a conversation. Well, he wasn't above stalking in general, really; it was his favorite way to study prey.
The light bounce in his step created a sort of floating effect, graceful yet fleeting like the flutter of a butterfly. His tail danced high through natural means, not out of a sign of disrespect. If anything, the Sennyo was all about respect. He respected his higher ups and he respected his friends. In turn, made sure to earn their own respect. Their deaths were so much sweeter as they stared up at him, awed by cruel duplicity so carefully hidden beneath the construct of what was supposed to be a lover, best friend, adviser. The grin on his face was so cheerful and unassuming that it was hard to tell there was the soul of a murderer lurking beyond the surface level.
Then again, Kid didn't live his life like a murderer; his morality scale had been shifted. He viewed himself as the world's greatest hunter, playing the world's deadliest game. Victims were not victims... They were prey. He was simply doing what all other wolves did, surviving and thriving through the death of another creature.
So as he invaded the personal space of the female, standing a little too close with a cheeky expression, he couldn't resist licking his lips. Sure, pack mates were not meant to be victimized; Master Flynn had made sure he was clear of that little rule. That didn't mean he couldn't fantasize, though. There would be a day in the future when he outlived them all. The Don would fall (preferably with a little help from the conniving Sennyo), and the rest of the pack would be fair game. He would turn on his "friends" and hunt them into extinction. But first he had to make them his friends. "What brings you to the sinking sands? They're not really safe for a casual stroll." |

Inside she cringed and found that her first thought on this male was; irritating. She wasn't one that enjoyed contact at the best of times, let alone from a male she barely knew. She of course could tell you what pack he belonged to, knew he shared her rank though that was pretty much as far as her knowledge stretched, right now she didn't care much about anything else, nor was she particuarly pleased by the fact that she had seen him and they had greeted each other. She didn't think this was going to be a very good meeting.
She kept a hold on her powers just as well as she did her emotions, though there would have of course once been a time when she would have done nothing of the sort, her powers automatically being used in their useless way. She was actually glad to have better control over them though, no matter how pathetic she thought they were.
"I could ask you the same thing." She retorted simply, not giving this male an answer to his question. So far he wasn't doing too well at trying to befriend his fellow packmate, instead giving her more reason to avoid him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,344,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/33xymox.png]Kid circled around her once, his trot light and bouncy. Featherlight tail floated behind him as he pulled up along side her, head tilted in such a way that he was looking down at her without looking down on her. A quirky smile twisted up his lips, and he was close enough that their fur would occasionally brush without any actual contact ever being made.
"No need to be defensive, dahlin'. We're family after all," he cooed, expression almost innocent as he grinned at her. He'd taken the instructions of Master Flynn to heart. The pack was family now, its members untouchable. Sure, that didn't mean that one day he would turn that system on its head, betraying them all in a glorious scene painted rich with blood. But for now, this was his home, his family, and the owner of his loyalty. He wouldn't harm a hair on any of them (though he might rub a few against the grain).
As his green eyes sparkled, his shoulders shrugged slightly, wings twitching with his inability to remain perfectly still. His current goal was to get to know his pack mates inside and out (lest one of them be a threat to the lives he had unintentionally gifted Isabella with). His hunger for knowledge was his greatest drive; the chance to improve his mind always impossible to pass up. Sometimes the only way to gain new information was to share what he already knew, though. Which is why, even with his gentle prodding, he gave his own answer freely. "Miss Izzy's sent me hunting again. I thought I might make an easy catch here to hold her over, at least, until I'm able to find something a bit fitting. Are your kind always so demanding when pregnant?"
Okay, so he'd just given the lupus further means to avoid his initial question. It didn't matter so much, though. The dumbfounded curiosity of his new inquiry easily betrayed how much he hoped for an answer. Never before had he been the cause of a pregnant female. Not wanting to screw his children up before they were even born, he was willing to find research from every available source. The way he saw it, his pack mates were as good as any place to start. And he didn't have to worry about the consequences of asking too direct a question (lest they wanted punishment from the higher ups). |

Her head turned, red eyes resting upon his form. His words were true, they were a family of sorts, all on the same side but despite that it was his actions that caused her to be slightly wary. Close contact was something she only used when fighting, right now Kid was too close for comfort. Her actions didn't really demonstrate this too much though her words had certainly hinted something was up.
His next words were both slightly offending to the female gender though also intriguing. She hadn't actually been aware that anyone in the pack was expecting a litter, this was news to her ears. Kid had no reason to worry about her harming even a single one of his pups once they were born though, compared to the rest of the mafia Isoldephine was quite tame.
"I wouldn't know." Isoldephine responded honestly. She'd never been pregnant herself, never had the urge to be like many females had. Even the idea of a mate hadn't really crossed her mind, her own family hadn't exactly been a great influence for her to want to start a new one of her own.
"If we are though, perhaps you ought to continue with your hunt. I have nothing else to do, I can help if you wish." She didn't know much about the higher ranking Izzy, Isabella as she was more familiar of calling her. Isoldephine herself wasn't too keen on nicknames or shortened variations, even despite the length of hers. It was something she had insisted on from a young age, even ignoring people when they called her anything other than Isoldephine.

ooc: since the pups are due like now, you're welcome to join the birthing thread once daci start it. i figure from this thread we'll have them bring whatever they catch to Isabella in the new thread. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,344,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/33xymox.png]Her answer deflated him a bit. Ears flattening against his skull, a frown forming on his lips. Maybe Isabella hadn't been his best choice of subject. While Kid was all for being a good father, determined to go above and beyond, he was beginning to wonder if she was trying to kill him. Every time he returned from errand, she had another demand. For being the father, he was certainly given a large amount of responsibility. Isabella was a downright bossy bitch when she wanted to be.
But the offer of help did not go ignored. Normally the Sennyo liked to hunt on his own. Then again, his idea of hunting was a long, drawn out process full patience and skill. This crude mockery of his beloved profession was far from what he was used to. If he didn't have such strong obligations to Izzy then he never would have considered this quick chase and kill method. And given the amount of food she'd been demanding lately... It must have been close to her due date. The look on his face was earnest gratuity.
"Would you be so kind?" he asked, beginning his dancing walk again. With the help of this female he would be able to bring back twice the kill. "I'd be honored, dahlin'." Grin back in place, he began stalking forward, focusing his senses upon the land. Hopefully there was something edible not too far off, and if the quicksand had already trapped it then their job would go so much faster. He only paused once to look over his shoulder, excitement plastered onto his expression. "By the way, you can call me Kid." With those last words, the hunt was on. |

Isoldephine had no reasoning behind that changed expression, though he was soon back to what appeared to be his usual self; a rather fidgety fellow she was starting to notice. She wasn't sure what answer she had really expected from him, and therefore not really sure what to make of his acceptance. She had offered though and wouldn't take it back. Hadn't she decided not too long ago it was about time she paid more attention to this pack and it's members?
She nearly smiled at his comment though, would you be so kind? Kindness in the mafia, how strange it was a rather humorous thought, the sought of thing that would cause paranoia in any wolf that heard about it. They were, as Kid had pointed out earlier, family though and wouldn't turn on each other, it was all other packs and loners that had to watch out for their typical mean streak.
"Isoldephine." She responded simply. She figured Kid was short for something, and she certainly wished she knew what, never the fan of nicknames, strange really. With that, the Lupus began to follow the Sennyo, as he led the way, as always she was careful to watch the dangerous areas; you had to be quick to learn where they were when you were living here.

Well wasn't that just a delightfully little mouthful. He filed it away for later, not that he would probably use it in its entirety or without some proper title. Kid had a bad habit when it came to names. If he didn't put his own twist on them he was honestly less likely to remember it. Considering this was one of his pack mates, forgetting the female's name was not something he was wont to do.
The next few minutes passed in silence. All of the Sennyo's instincts were focused on the hint, using anything he could to his advantage. Sight, scent, sound... Even his antenna were twitching in search of environmental disturbances (not that they were ever any good for anything than weather patterns). Not once did he look over his shoulder to check upon Isoldephine; he simply assumed she was following and knew enough about the workings of the Mafia to know she would pose no threat. Even the most dimwitted member of their pack had enough sense not to kill a comrade.
With time pressing down on him, Kid was beginning to think he'd picked a poor place to hunt. Only when the sights and sounds of a struggling fawn caught his attention did he let out a silent rejoice. A sly smile crept up his muzzle, green eyes fixing upon the poor deer. It was only a child, its hooves caught in the absorbent quicksand. Talk about dumb luck. Paws halting, he rose his head to look back over his shoulder, wings part so as to not obscure his vision. "Care to do a little fishing, Lady Delphine?"

It clearly allowed for more concentration and although Isoldephine followed him, with her own senses working, she wasn't as alert as Kid, the success of this hunt wouldn't affect her too much. Her own stomach was perfectly comfortable at that moment, not verging on the edge of hunger or so full that she felt sick and heavy. But whilst Kid himself may not have been hungry, he certainly had to find something on this hunt, it was Isabella that needed the food after all and by the sounds of things she wouldn't be too overjoyed if he didn't return with something.
He had found something without her help though suddenly pausing and turning to her to speak. The lupus grew irritated by the shortened form of her name, no version of it other than it's entirety had ever taken her fancy. It may have been a mouthful though even as a pup she had been stubborn enough to only retaliate to her full name. She couldn't ignore Kid though and had grown out of such childish behaviour now, yet she still had to correct him. "Isoldephine." She repeated, a little more emphasis on it this time, he had even added in an extra letter, it truly wasn't acceptable.
Now that she had spoken, hopefully drilled it into his mind that her name wasn't to be altered, she turned her red-eyed gaze to the fawn struggling against the sink hole it had managed to get caught in. Whether its desperate cries where ones longing for freedom or simply for the wolves to leave him Isoldephine had no idea. They could possibly help it momentarily with the first of those problems, though there was no way they would leave it alone now.

It wasn't an act to hide ulterior motives. Kid truly did not understand why she felt the need to reprimand his new nickname. "You do not wish to be associated with the intelligence of the dolphin?" The honesty in his simple question only served to solidify his astonishment.
But never mind that. He had more important things to do, such as figuring out how to get the fawn out of the quicksand. Its forelegs were constantly scrambling, trying to pull it to higher ground. Maybe if the Lady did not weigh too much and was swift on her feet, she could grab one of the hoofed appendages and pull. As for himself, he had tested the sinking sands often enough to know how far was too far to traipse. With his added height, he should be able to latch onto it's neck and set it free that way. If he caught it properly, it would be dead by the time their work was done. Stealth was not necessary given the poor fawns predicament, and as he drew closer to it he turned to smile back at Isoldephine, his former disbelief seemingly forgotten.
"M'lady, if you would be so kind as to pull it by the feet. I myself will get hold of the neck. Maybe then we can drag it out of the muck?" The questioning tone was a seeking of acceptance. The plan had already solidified in his mind, and should it work (which his plans usually did), he would be plus one meal for Miss Izzy. Light steps carrying him to the critter's right, he waited for the Lupus to approach its left. Working together, the kill would hopefully not take them too long.
