Manuel flew around the hills in large, lazy circles. He kept staring out into the distance, scanning the horizon for any newcomers or armies, but so far it looked like the only invader here was spring time. Soon it would be summer, and Manuel gave a loud huff at the thought. The heat would be bothering him, he would be shedding like mad, and he might even molt. That was the last thing he wanted that pretty Falconstrike lady to see. What was worse, it seemed that he and Falconstrike would not be on patrol together as often as he had imagined it all in his mind.
He took one more quick, almost careless glance around high above his surroundings, and very sure that he was not going to spot anything of particular interest to him or his new family, he folded his wings to his sides and did a dive bomb. Straight down onto the highest hill he could find. Now that there was no pretty tail to chase or any beautiful eyes watching him, his landing was far less than graceful. It looked more like he had been falling, but managed to catch himself just before disaster.
His paws made a loud thud as they impacted the top of the hill, making him look more like a hopping toad than a gracefully landing swan. He stretched out his aching, tired wings luxuriously before folding them neatly to his sides once more. Manuel took one, final glance around, not a very thorough one either, and plopped his haunches down onto the ground. What he wouldn't give for a little excitement right now. Small as this Empire was, he supposed he should be happy that they had no enemies. Then again, without any enemies, he had no way of really proving himself to either of his alphas, or Falconstrike.

There she looked up, seeing what looked like a falling griffon.
It was a male wolf's scent, it must be a keiyou, she thought. Her old friend had tought her about all the species and these must be the winged ones. And although she despised other species, she walked over to see if he was okay and he was from the Empire so he would most likely not harm her. She came in sight of him, his was grey with black wings and legs the back of his ears and his tail tip were also black. She stared at him with intense green eyes looking into his silver ones. All in all, he was quite a handsome young keiyou. She was taller and heavier than him by a long shot, her confidence rose. If she thought she could beat a wolf in battle or at least match him size for size, she was confident.

Manuel had begun to observe a few birds fluttering their way across the open sky, and did not notice Lyra's approach. His tail twitched a few times, a smile creeping across his face as two of the birds began to chase and whirl around each other. He let out a light chuckle after one bird acknowledged that it was no match for the other, and did an awkward dive bomb get-away to dodge an attack and retreat at the same time. If his wings weren't bitterly tired, he probably would have chased after them, just for fun. A few seconds after the birds had disappeared over another hill, he was aware of another presence nearby. Quickly he snapped his head in the direction of the Yagi, and leaped up onto all fours. He had dropped down low as if getting ready to pounce, until he caught the scent of Cuppresses on this female.
Perhaps she was a new soldier like himself, and after a few seconds hesitation, he straightened himself up, giving her an awkward, apologetic smile. She lacked the graceful slenderness of a Keiyou, and the gorgeous sweeping wings that his kind so proudly flourished and flaunted. Otherwise, he may have been attracted to her. While he was not against mating with another species, he was just generally attracted to wolves of his own breed.
Although, something about her antlers and green eyes made him feel a little tingly on the inside. Oh Manuel, you're a sick Keiyou.... He thought to himself. He gave her a quick nod in greeting before taking a few light steps towards her. All the while, he was holding his head high and rolling back his shoulders.
"And who might you be, miss?"
He asked, his words flowing smoothly from his lips in his rugged man voice. He seriously believed he could get a wink and a grin from her if he tried hard enough. For now, that was really his only goal. Typical male, yes?
"Did the empress send you here to check up on me?"
Probably not the smartest thing to say to someone he didn't know. After all, she could be an outsider, despite the way she smelled. Manuel however, wasn't really thinking with his logic at the moment.

Her proud voice trying to hide her disliking for other species. She stood up tall, she was the new soldier and she would try to look past the different species and try to work together to prove that she could be a good leader. "No, Cupressus did not send me, I came to familiarize myself with the territory and borders." This wolf was obviously trying to get a smile out of her, but he would have to try much harder to impress her. She rolled her eyes, Males. "I saw you plummet from the sky and came to see if you were alright." She never understood Keiyous, always in the sky doing fancy spirals and dives. She preffered the ground. She sat down in front of him, waiting for his answer. [/ul][/scrolly]
