The night was slowly crawling over the skies. Stars began to appear, sparkling with such delight to the clear sky. Salem breathed in deeply and continued to keep silent. It truely was great out here, so quiet and solitary. It made him feel like he could escape from all the sins he had done. "Please Oroùbe... Forgive me." His words were nothing more than a murmur under his breath. He lowered his head in regret, reminding him how ashamed he was of himself.
"How could I?" He felt like crying out but knew no one would answer him. He knew he was alone with all of this, that he had to find a way out himself. Even if there wasn't a way out. He couldn't find it in himself to trust another.
His ears suddenly twitched as the snow was being scraped up. He opened his eyes, golden orbs landing on a female Yagi. He stood up, tail feathers fanning out in a sign of defense, but he calmed them down quick enough when he noticed she looked like she was half asleep, let alone ready to propose a challenge.
He narrowed his eyes slightly too get a better look at her as he opened his maw to speak. "Pardon me, miss. I thought I was alone." He said softly, eyes never wavering from her. She had deer antlers on her head, different from the other Yagi female he had encountered. His ears twitched lightly as the waves from the lake washed against the sides.
The Myou could smell the scent of the Empire on her. He blinked softly, making his fur lay flat. He glanced back up at the sky, catching the last few, breathtaking moments of the sunset over the tundra. What a magnificent sight it was. The colors of the sun reflecting across the white snow and creating quite a show.
Salem's eyes gained a soft glow as he watched it. "Amazing, isn't it? I've always found the sunset quite a mesmertizing thing..." He spoke softly, almost to himself.

Lyra had been walking around the lake after patrolling the borders, now she lowered her head to take a drink, the setting sun casting shadows all around her. She lifted her head water dripping from her chin, she was finally used to life in the tundra. But she didn't understand why there were hardly any Yagi here, the only members she had met were keiyous. But she was learning to get along with them just not as good as she would with a Yagi. But all worries were pushed from her mind as she lay down on a patch of dry grass to watch the setting sun. She loved sunsets, just the way the sky colours changed from hues of blue to hues of orange, red and pink. She was tired from her walk so she lay her head down on her paws and fell into a light sleep.
Lyra awoke some time later, just enough to see the rest of the sun set behind the mountains. Another smell hit her nose, smelling of the Empire so she knew she had no need to worry. She sat up and looked around and not a few metres away in the shadows, sat another wolf. She hadn't seen him before, he had wings so she had assumed he was also a keiyou. She sighed, there were to many keiyous here on the tundra, when was she going to find one of her own species.
Lyra took a few silent steps toward him, not wanting to break the silence, but she also didn't want to startle the other wolf so she decided it best to appear in front of him, rather than behind. She opened her mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. This wolf was deep in thought and she didn't want to interupt him. So she decided to sit down just a short distance away and wait for him to realize she was there.
She let a yawn escape her mouth, her evening snooze had left her even yearning for more sleep. But she would stay awake and watch as one by one stars appeared across the darkening sky. She sighed the tundra was a perfect place to see the sky there were no trees in the way to block the gorgeous view.
She tilted her head scraping her antlers in the dirt, the velvet still fresh, she hadn't come in sight of a tree to scrape it off, but she would leave it there a bit longer, scratching it off to early would make the antlers weak. Just like a deers Lyras antlers would drop every winter then would grow back in the summer a bit larger covered in velvet. She hated how this happened because she wouldn't have her deadly appendages if it came to a fight in the winter. The other apprentices in her home pack had made fun of her when this happened and she had envied them, they always had their horns and they never dropped. She was soon lost in a world of memories of her old pack.

Lyra wiped her paw over the design she had made in the snow with a sigh. Just then her ear picked up a slight mumble from the stranger she had hardly picked up the words. He was apoligizing to someone she did not know, with sadness in his voice. She looked looked at him sympathy flooding her eyes. But still she would not speak until he spoke to her, she did not want to invade his thoughts or the silence.
Instead she studied him more carefully, he did not look like any of the Keiyous she had seen. He had feathers not just on his wings but on his chest and tail. He also had a few strange patterns on his wings that reminded her of a eagles wings. She hadn't met very many species but she was told of a species called a Myou that has a second soul and their appearence usually would reflect that soul. So she concluded that he was a Myou his second soul being somesort of eagle.
Just then he saw the Myou open his golden coloured eyes, then quickly stood up, his the feathers on his tail fanned out. But quickly settled down again when he realized that she was not there to challenge or attack him. He then met her eyes, speaking softly. When he was done he blinked softly, flattening his fur. He looked back up to the sky, speaking again this time a little softer, as if to himself. Still she didn't reply but followed his gaze to catch the last of the setting sun.

Salem watched as the burning ball slowly descended behind the horizon. His eyes shimmered as stars began to grow brighter as more emerged from the darkness. He had noticed the female did not speak, so he decided to keep his mouth shut as well.
Watching the last part of the sun disappear, the world began to quickly grow darker as it shifted to night. Before long the moon came, taking the suns place. The Myou breathed in deeply, loving the spectrum of scents around him. His ears shifted back towards to Yagi. She had yet to speak.
He turned his head, eyes catching hers. He still did not speak, not wanting to annoy her somehow. She had only a faint scent similar to that from the Empress. Perhaps she was new, or just didn't meet the other wolves often. He looked at his paws and shook his head, adjusting his wings as he sat back down.

Once the last of the sun had disappeared behind the mountains, Lyra turned to the Myou, her emerald eyes meeting his. At last she spoke, "Sorry to stay quiet for so long, I wanted to get the most out of the suns beauty and silence. I am Lyra the newest soldier of the Empire, and if I may ask your name?" Her tone was friendly, but there was a bit of concern in her eyes. This wolf looked very sad and depressed, she wanted to make him feel better but she didn't know the problem, let alone what to say.
She looked back up to the now starry sky, and sighed. She sat up and shook water from her pelt, it had just soaked through and she was getting the chills. She used her antlers to scratch her shoulder, shook herself once more then sat down. She looked around scanning her surroundings. The way the stars reflected in the the lake, the cool wind bringing scents from around the territory to her. She hadnt exactly slept or even knew where the rest of the wolves of the Empire gathered or stayed. So most of the time she just stayed where ever was dry staring at the sky till she fell asleep.
She would be on her way again soon to find a dry place around here so she wouldn't have to walk far. It was to wet where she was at the moment. She wondered if this wolf knew of any places to stay and she hoped he could accompany her to that place. She looked at him once more, her paws itching to go for a run to dry her fur and feel the wind whistle through her antlers and ears. She clawed the snow suddenly impatient, and scanned the terrain once more.

Salem perked his ears when she finally spoke. He nodded to her greeting, watching as she sat down. After looking at her a moment he turned his eyes back to the night sky. He felt a little self conscious. "It's ok. It is nice to meet you, miss Lyra." His ear twitched anxiously, as he didn't know if he quite liked having another presence near him. He preferred the life of solitude and quiet.
His left wing lifted and fanned out in a stetch, carefully avoiding to hit Lyra. He folded his wing back on his side and kept his eyes glued on the sky. He then remembered that she had asked for his name, while he hadn't answered yet.
"Pardon me. My name is Salem Ali. I am but a traveler, taking refuge in this land for a little while..." His voice trained as he thought about it. He was gradually growing on the idea of staying here for good, as it was a harsh and unforgiving land. A soft snowflake descended and landed on his nose, making him sneeze. He lifted a paw in dismay and glanced upwards. A slow stream of snowflakes was on their way down, making an account that there was going to be a light snow fall.
Salem noticed how the snow flakes in the sky resemboled the stars from far all, slowly falling to the earth below. He smiled faintly. The sparkling stars and the light snow made him feel solitary and peaceful. A cold breeze came from behind him and made a shiver run down his spine.
