A small Eremus spoke softly, seemingly to himself. Not another figure could be seen anywhere near to wolf but Chiumbo himself could see the other as clear as day. He knew he wouldn't soon though. Jaromir didn't want to join him in investigating the pack, Chiumbo wished that Inkumbulo had stuck around but even he had gone as well.
He'd be alone soon and that did scare him a little bit. Generally one of his friends were always nearby, especially Jaromir, he never went far. It would definitely be weird but they had all thought maybe he ought to settle down a little bit before they came to visit him. None of them had ever been a part of a pack, and even Aroha didn't feel like accompanying in joining this one. Of course that was for the best, someone would automatically think him mad if he requested for Jaromir, Aroha or Kumbulo to join the pack with him, they didn't exist.
"Don't go too far." Chiumbo requested, bright yellow eyes looking up towards where he believed the lupus was standing. "I won't." The lupus responded and Chiumbo knew it was true, looking in front with a small smile on his muzzle. He felt a little more confident now knowing that although the lupus wouldn't be right at his side he wouldn't be far away. "I'll wait for Inkumbulo and Aroha to catch up and then we shall visit. Take care."
Chiumbo looked back up, but the lupus was moving further away now though, taking a slightly different path away from the Eremus. "Bye..." He called softly, eyes saddening again now. With a sigh he continued his walk, glancing back every now and then to hopefully catch a glimpse of any of his friends but of course there was no sign of them. He felt so alone a part of him almost wanted to hurry up to reach the pack.
He soon found himself there, at the borders, the scent of those other wolves was so clear he knew he'd reached the right place. Now what? He needed Inkumbulo to tell him, he was clever he'd know. Jaromir would probably even know too. Again, those yellow eyes glanced back hoping to find one of his friends, maybe they'd caught up already. Nothing though, so Chiumbo simply waited. | |

How he was sure of it, he could not say.
Well, regardless, the last suicide attempt failed. But there wasn't any surprise there.
Fahrenheit wondered aimlessly for awhile, his mind abuzz with a thousand different lives he had lived, like it most often was. A thousand lives, ending in countless deaths. But he never could stay dead for long. He tried desperately day after day, always waking whole, or unpoisoned, or unburned. Perfect. His feet carried him around obstacles, his mind not even bothering to check his progress. He didn't care were it went, it didn't matter. There were ingenious ways to kill yourself everywhere.
Before he knew it, his paws were being pleasantly burned by sun baked sand. His eyes finally unglazed, and he blinked down at it. Sand? He asked, still half in the past. He looked up at the dunes, and scented the air. He had been here before...He had forced himself to live here, day after day, trying to die thirst, but with each new day his internal homeostasis was restored, so that plan failed. On the hottest day of summer, he spread himself out and tried to give himself a heatstroke. It worked, more then once even, but he always awoke the next day. He had even found a dragon here once and told him to paint the sand with his blood. The dragon obliged, but yet again he woke, whole and alive, outside of the dragon's den.
Fahrenheit's eyes roamed over the vast expanse of the desert. "Eh, might as well try the dragons again." And with a shrug of the shoulders, he started his trek.
After awhile Fahrenheit spotted a wolf, far in the distance. At first he thought it was a mirage, but as he got closer he began to doubt that. "'nother suicidal wolf?" He said, lazily. He shifted the angle of his path, so that he had a straight shot to the wolf.
It was awhile before Fahrenheit was within hearing range of the wolf, having misjudged the distance between them because of the lack of visual cues. But he was eventually close enough to realize the wolf was talking to himself. "Oh great, He's a nutter."
"Hey, what are you doing?" He said as he approached the random wolf, standing in the middle of the desert. "Why are you standing in the middle of the desert?" But as he got closer, he realized that it was that...uh weird wolf. He hadn't come across them often, since he didn't really hang around in deserts, but he knew this strange wolf did. He couldn't remember the name for them. "Oh, uh nevermind." Finally, he was abreast with the wolf. "Hiya, fancy meeting someone here, ay? In this vast place, we some how found each other. Must be fate, has to be. We are meant for great things you and I." He nodded matter-of-factly. He was totally messing with the pure creature. Fahrenheit half hoped that the wolf would lunge at him and rip out his throat. "Fahrenheit, is my name. Best remember it, if we are gonna do great things." Then he smelled why the wolf was waiting. Pack lands. Oh. Oh. Well even better, a pack of wolves to kill him for trespassing.
"Are you joining a pack, new buddy?" He asked, chipper. He pranced across the territory. "You're gonna be waiting forever if you just stand there."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/ChiMid.png]Chiumbo wasn’t quite sure what he was waiting for, it would make more sense to continue further to find someone from the pack or perhaps to simply call someone. Deep in his mind he knew that but for some reason the Eremus couldn’t actually bring his feet to move, he remained frozen to the spot, bright yellow eyes looking ahead. He stood there like that for a few moments before he noticed the shape of a wolf heading towards him and immediately he felt pleased, like his plan, or lack of one, had worked out alright. Here was someone now.
He didn’t move anywhere, and remained still, allowing this new wolf to come towards him. Judging from his size, Chiumbo would have guessed the wolf was a lupus, he wasn’t too skilled with the other species, having met very few in his time. He had met a few lupus though, and a yagi, of course plenty of Eremus. He’d managed to distance himself a fair amount though, a surprisingly easy task in this barren place. Who would want to live here other than the Eremus, built for the heat of this place?
Chiumbo was ready to greet the wolf, answer his first strange question, but the lupus continued to talk. He was rather talkative, a bit like Aroha he thought briefly. She was certainly the most talkative out of his friends, more so than him as well probably. Chiumbo wasn’t exactly good with new people, he often found it a wonder that Jaromir, Aroha and Inkumbulo had stuck around. Of course though the imaginary wolves had no choice, until his mind decided they could be forgotten, they would remain his friends and for now they were his only ones.
Fahrenheit seemed to believe they would be friends, that they would do something together. Chiumbo doubted this very much, he certainly wasn’t destined for great things, this wolf had gotten him confused with someone else. He would have to tell him that, before he got too carried away with some kind of amazing plan that he would never be able to keep up with. Jaromir would probably be able to, or maybe even Kumbulo but neither of them were here to meet Fahrenheit.
“I’m Chiumbo” He stated, introducing himself to the lupus as was only fair. “You don’t have to remember it though, I don’t think we’re destined for great things. At least not together anyway, you might on your own, I’m sure you could be.” He was somewhat timid in the way he spoke, although he was saying a fair amount, it was more rambling than actually thinking fully about what he was saying. The final part was of course an attempt to dig out of a hole he may have been forming, a compliment of sorts, just to make sure he didn’t anger Fahrenheit.
“I’m thinking of joining a pack.” He admitted truthfully. “Are you part of it?”

He could tell that this wasn't the type of wolf to lash out violently, or even get that he was teasing him. "Nope, I'm not from the pack, maybe I came here same as you, to find a home." He winked at the wolf. "Don't worry, I know things. When we join this pack together, we will be able to accomplish anything." He backed further into the pack lands, still facing Chiumbo. "But first, we have to go find the leader or something. Or at least howl." Without another word, Fahrenheit threw back his head and howled, telling the pack that they were in the area.
"See?" He said, after he finished. "Now we can wait." He planted his rump down abruptly. "Say? Who were you talking to earlier?" He asked cocking his head, feigning attentiveness. Fahrenheit had had many opportunities observe to perfect various facial expressions and body language, so he is able to put on any persona to suit his needs. Though he was genuinely interested in whether the wolf was just mumbling to himself, as most did, or if he actually thought he was talking to someone else.
Fahrenheit much preferred the latter. He rather enjoyed hanging around with crazies. They were quite fun. Way more entertaining then sane creatures. He even considered himself crazy. He'd have to be to even think about most of the abuses he put his body through. And any way, he had lost his mind so many times, that his mind was filled with holes were things had stayed lost even after had had found his sanity again.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Tables/ChiMid.png]He was a little disappointed in some ways, that Fahrenheit wasn't already part of the pack. In theory though, two new wolves joining together ought to be easier that if he'd turned up on his own. He'd have a little bit of support maybe, Fahrenheit seemed nice enough after all. Quite friendly, though a part of Chiumbo was still unsure, felt that maybe one of his friends ought to be here to help him out. They were all off around the desert though leaving him to cope with the new pack on his own.
He still didn't believe that Fahrenheit was right about their 'destiny for great things' new pack or not. He had met quite a few wolves really, plenty of Eremus in his pack and they certainly hadn't thought he was destined for great things, he knew he wasn't. He didn't want to push the lupus though, he'd just allow him to continue talking and reply when needed. It made sense to do that.
And after the howl another question arose. No one had really questioned him about any of his friends before, he'd left his old pack before the chance for questions had risen. Maybe more wolves would question it here, he hadn't thought about that. There was nothing wrong with it really, but they didn't want to join the pack, only visit. Once more he was a little worried about life without Jaromir close by to protect him in the event, the very likely event, that something would go wrong.
"Jaromir, he's gone to find our other friends, though they don't want to join the pack. He answered the question truthfully, he didn't feel he had anything to hide. Lots of wolves had friends, his tended to be a little shy (or aggressive and not really allowed to meet certain new people), but they were still his friends. He could talk about them. With his thoughts a question rose in his mind.
"Have you got any friends Fahrenheit?" He hadn't actually meant to speak the words out loud, but they had slipped out and suddenly the Eremus found himself hoping he hadn't said something wrong. His ears flattened and he shrunk back a little, looking to the red wolf with an apologetic expression. "Sorry, I was just wondering..."

The strong scent of death probably crept up on the duo long before the stretching shadow did. The cry for another had caught her ears and with a little guidance Ma'at had leisurely made her way through the desert. Her steps were heavy with the weight she bore, leaving deep imprints in the sand. Fatigue was not a question for her being one of the undead, but she knew the heat would wear down whoever it was that sought her presence. If she met them weak, they would be easier to overpower. Crude as it was, she had taken it upon herself to gain members by force. All that opposed her would be enslaved. And if they still resisted? Let's just say that capital punishment was not against her ethics.
Cresting a dune, she paused momentarily to stare down at the strangers. Her figure cut an intimidating, dark shape in the blaze of the sun, tall and proud and reeking of decay. A sadistic smile cracked up her lips, and as she suddenly sprinted down the hill it was easy to see bits of skin flapping in the wind. Recently healed eyes were already beginning to cloud over with red, but at least she was in a presentable enough state to not completely make her toys faint. At least, that would be the case so long as they had strong stomachs.
Skidding to a halt, she did her best to tower over the pair, head and tail high with the pride and position she carried. "Ey now, strangers. Wat business 'ave you 'ere in t'Kingdom of t'eru-Bes? I s'gest you answer wisely. I'tis much 'arder t'leave than i'tis to stay." And that statement was truer than anything else she could have said. The way Ma'at saw it, they were in her lands. Thus, they were now her possessions. They were the newest subjects of the Kingdom, whether that is what they wanted or not. It would take a good deal of convincing to change her mind, and even then her most probable response would be to end them then and there... Which is why the threat of "join or die" so often worked in her favor.
